We stopped here for the first time today because we had a rare errand to the northwest. A quick check on the Yelp app pointed to Big Daddy Sandwich so that's were we stopped. Big Daddy is not actually very big. Most tables were for two and even though it was only around 11:00 am on Monday, most tables were in use. We sat at the bar looking out the window. We placed our order at the counter. This is where they shocked me by saying that they don't sell coffee. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but no coffee at all was a shock that cost them one star (that means if you don't want coffee you can consider this a 5 star rating). We asked for cups of tap water but they didn't have cups either. He eventually offered us free bottled water so we would have something to drink. That was very nice of them. I ordered the southwestern chicken wrap. It was delicious. It also had quite a bite to it because of the hot peppers. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. I can certainly recommend this wrap to anyone. My partner ordered the fried egg sandwich from the breakfast menu. She really liked it. Washrooms were large and clean. There was a steady stream of people coming and going at 11:00 am so at noon it must be crazy busy. The prices are high, but the sandwiches are HUGE. They are clearly using quality ingredients because everything tasted amazing. We came around 1 pm and it wasn't too busy, but I'm sure they get packed at lunch time! The bread is soft and THICK - and like somebody else mentioned, if you order a BLT, be prepared for a lot of bacon - which is certainly not a complaint. My favourite thing was their kettle chips with the garlic aioli dip. I still think about it... We've only tried the sandwiches so far, but the calzones and poutines look great as well!! read more

I was craving a good sandwich and soup and decided to stop in here during the lunch hour. There were probably 5 people who had ordered ahead of me but no one in line to order. The guy who took my order was very friendly and helpful. I ordered an Egg Salad sandwich combo with Turkey Rice soup and a can of pop. The food was very fresh and tasty. The dining room was clean. Hands down one of the top 5 sandwiches in yeg! The place is small so if you need to dine in, you may have to wait. We had their Rueben and Big Daddy's Clubhouse. Have eaten here a few times - always delicious. Recently on a backyard bbq calzone kick. Huge and delicious. However, today I tried their confetti marshmallow bar and am left wondering what they were thinking. It has soggy rice krispies in it! One of the most disappointing surprises of my life. Came in this afternoon for our first visit, I had paired my Clubhouse Sandwich with chilli (Extra $2), my girlfriend had a house salad, and we both had a can of pop. The sandwiches were HUGE, loaded with bacon, meats, and veggies, and come with a large pickle wedge. The sandwiches tasted absolutely delicious, and were VERY filling. The chilli was alright, I had honestly expected more from it once I tried my sandwich, the salad was good, tasted crisp and fresh. I don't think I'll ever understand the hype - I have yet to be blown away by any sandwich I've had so far in town. Well, I randomly stumbled upon some reviews that claimed Big Daddy's Sandwich Co was worth checking out. Cheap prices and generous portions? Sounds like a good combo to me. Their Friday special sounded tasty. Pulled pork on what looked like a cheese bun. Menu is all about the sandwiches: fresh, subs, donairs and then soups/salads. There's also a breakfast menu available from 8am to 11am weekdays. Service is pretty fast and run by a friendly family of Filipinos. They were already out of their beef barley soup (not sure how that happened as we arrived just past noon). - Our famous clubhouse sandwich combo ($13.50) - you choose your type of bread (white, brown and multigrain), whether you want it toasted and then can customize what exactly you want for toppings. Options that I remember are tomato, cucumber, red onion, alfalfa sprouts, banana peppers, cheese (three types: swiss, mozzarelo and provolone?), mustard, mayo. They also throw a dill pickle on your tray for good measure. - Tomato beef vegetable - not too much to write home about when it comes to their soup. Pretty standard, pretty generic soup. - Tuna salad sandwich ($8.50) - my buddy L went with the tuna salad. Again, pretty standard and simple. The first few bites I wasn't that impressed as the tuna had a dry, stale texture to it but it got better after those initial bites. Kind of like Parks and Recreation after Season 1. Season 1 starts out impressively unimpressive but after that, it's dyno-mite. The hunt continues for the best sandwich in town. If and when you are on this side of town you must stop in. Honest to god two slices of bread packed to so much meat that it makes any other sandwich place look like a kids menu. The BLT is literally stuffed with so much bacon that you might think you died and went to heaven. The club house is so big that you might cry with joy. **pro tip: move the toothpick around the sandwich, don't just take it out or your first bites will spill the heaping contents all over your tray. Really close to my office, so we come here for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are big. Like, really big. Like, if you order the BLT there's probably a whole package of bacon in it big. It's great for sharing though, since everything is cut in half. New owners just took over in December and seem to have kept everything pretty much the same, but we'll see. I stumbled upon this little gem by accident. I was meeting a friend for lunch and the place we intended to go to was not open so we went here instead. The decor is fairly bare bone and that's fine if it means I get to eat tasty food and great prices. I ordered a combo with my choice of drink and soup. Im disappointed to report this place was bought and has a new owner as of May 1st. Picked up our usuals today and they were nothing like what we've ever received. My orders were missing items I had asked for and appearently not charged for. It's sad when a successful reputable business is bought and not taken over with care. The standards the original owners set are sadly not being upheld by staff or new owner. When I called to politely let them know my order was wrong, I was asked what do you want me to do? It's the same as the last owners menu, but he unfortunately left out the quality is what has changed. The entire conversation on the phone was very unprofessional.
