Unfortunately I didn't get to snap a picture of the delicious eats before digging in but NONETHELESS it was amazing - take my word for it!! I actually ordered Donna's through skip the dishes and although I was expecting some quality to drop because of that I was super pleased to find that not to be the case! Going halfzees with my mom, I was able to try a bit of the Reuben and the Famous Clubhouse. BOTH were to die for - just so good. I genuinely still cannot decide which one I liked more! Earlier I had said 'halfzees' but perhaps I should have said 'quaterzees' because these things are ginormous and there is no way I could've finished one by myself. Being someone who takes a lot pride in being able to eat twice as much as she weighs, I really do mean that these are freakin huge and unless you've been starving for a week you won't be able to finish. But bonus is that you can save some for tomorrow! Because trust me you will be craving it! I really wanted to order their soup as well but alas, skip wouldn't deliver. So, I tried their fries instead and I wasn't very surprised and pleased to discover that Donna's also kicks butt at making some bomb fries!! Because I wasn't there I can't say anything for the service or restaurant itself but I can say that they have amazing food with more than generous portions and if your a sandwich guy like I am, you HAVE to check them out! read more

Typically very busy on weekdays at lunch, so it was nice to come on a Saturday morning and find lots of seating and no wait time. We ordered at the counter and sat with our newspapers for only a short while before our food was brought out. The breakfast bagel and the breakfast sandwich both ran about $8, but were so good!! Tons of filling, lots of fresh vegetables and piled high with bacon and eggs. We didn't need a side and were both so full it was a struggle to finish it (but too good to leave behind). I wanna give this a higher rating being this is my first time here. I heard great things about this place. I walked in and it was super busy. Took about 10 minutes before my order was taken. I also didn't realized there was two sides to order from. Looking around while I waiting in line I was checking out others food. The portions are massive. I ordered the special the ham and cheese and beef barley soup for $13.95. The sandwich as promised came out huge. I didn't like the choice of bread. It's was very bready and tasted old. As well I wish I asked before ordering if the cheese was processed cuz that shit is just nasty. As well the tomatoes were very mushy. Yuck. After only eating the toppings since my bread was soggy at this point I moved on to the "beef barley soup" I found one piece of beef in there and the soup was bland. If I'm ever in that area again I will return and try something else hoping for a better out come. read more

So, our first experience here was great, when Marty was working, the son of the owner. We've been there a couple more times since and recently tried to order for delivery and each time, we interacted with the owner. That guy needs to retire, he is an arrogant ass. Very rude. Based on this, I'd rather eat from McDonald's or Pizza 73. read more

First time here. I don't think you would find friendlier, more helpful staff anywhere. Came for breakfast and was impressed - eggs perfect, sausage and hash browns very yummy and the multi-grain toast was particularly good. Have eaten at Donna's many times but the pizza was TERRIBLE. We ordered the Reuben, cheese burger, fries and a pizza. The burger was the best, with plenty of toppings, a sizable beef patty and a soft bun. The Reuben was filled with lots of meat but lacked in flavour as it was just mostly meat and bread. The fries were crispy and the gravy was very good. The pizza seemed like it was a left over pizza that was not picked up from yesterday or earlier today. It DID NOT come out of the oven fresh and the dough was not fully baked. I got ill from the not fully baked crust. The owner was abit surly in his behavior during the order taking, like he was having a bad day. The experience was not pleasurable and WE WILL NOT RETURN, telling others the same. read more

Donna's is just across the hi way from us, so it's a go-to place for us. Its located in the Winterburn Industrial area and is always busy with the guys that work nearby. It's a working mans diner but the food is awesome! The clubhouse sandwich has been voted the best in Edmonton, and it's massive and delicious, with your choice of toppings. Amazing home made beef barley soup is always available, along with a daily soup. Their breakfast is the best value for the dollar I've ever had. Perfectly cooked eggs, delicious potatoes, a heap of bacon, fruit and your choice of soup - all for $10. Warning, the platter is loaded with food. A must try is the marble rye toast. read more

For around $12 you get a bowl of soup and a sandwich large enough to feed an army, so consider your $12 extremely well spent. Donna's Eatery uses the freshest bread, meats and toppings. I have tasted cream of chicken soup and turkey and bacon sandwich, and both were savory and delicious. This place deserves to be on Drive Ins Diners & Dives (on the Food Network). Busy atmosphere at lunch with HUGE portions at reasonable prices. I just started working in the area and am slowing working my way thru the luncheon menu. Best to arrive early to avoid line ups at noon or pre-order by calling in. Along with the normal sandwich fare selection, there are additional menu items that can satisfy including pizza and other hot menu items. The soup is always changing but their standard is the beef barley. The club house is great as mentioned in another review. The Italian sandwich special that I tried the other day, must have weighed a pound... generous meat portions and a great selection of optional toppings. There are daily soup /sandwich and hot plate specials. If you are in the area, worthwhile to stop in. & As Guy Fieri would say... Everything here is amazing. A bit more on the pricy side but you definitely get what you payed for. Portions are huge, poutine is amazing. Service is great! I work 2 min down the road. I used to go once a week and now I will avoid going at all costs. The food is getting progesivly worse and now they are starting to cut corners. I spent over $12 today and got a bland cold chiken burger burnt on the edges and a pre-made potato salad that I can only assume was bought at Costco. I will never spend another penny there and will drive further to get something for lunch from anywhere else. read more

Just had my first sandwich from Donna's, which became two meals for me because it was huge! I had a chicken salad sandwich as it is a staple for me, and if you can do that well I will order again. Well, I will most definitely be back! Such good flavour, and well worth the cost $9+ a sandwich. I only ate half due to its size, and was left fill, happy and not feeling gross.
