    Country fried steak

I'm touch and go on this location. Getting seated is always exceptionally slow... like it makes no sense slow and paying is the same. The food is pretty consistent and a good option of breakfasts at a sect price with kids meals for 3.99 (drink not included). Our server, Debbie, was friendly and prompt on our most recent visit. So why 3 stars? Because the washroom was atrocious! Filthy, old, run down YUCK! And the stalls were teeny tiny which made it hard to help my youngest child. The hand sanitizer was empty as well and the soap dispensers were almost empty.

This is my neighborhood Denny's restaurant, so I have gone here fairly regularly for the past ten years or so. It was always a pretty typical Denny's, by my calculations. However, during these COVID times, I have been doing a lot of pick-up orders form this location (I am addicted to brunch and with no ability to go out for brunch these days, I have to feed the addiction somehow). They have really won a spot in my heart these past few months. I had their birthday pancakes on a very, very weird birthday earlier in December. The staff have also written me special notes and packed them in with my breakfast, thanking me for my business and telling me to have a great day. One such note even included an adorable drawing of a slice of bacon! And it's special touches like this that make all the difference these days. I also find they are consistent with their products and pack in all the condiments you're bound to need as you enjoy your meal. Thanks Denny's!

Honestly, I've always really liked Denny's for breakfast or late night eats. I used to go to the one across from Grant MacEwan almost every night because I worked until two or three a.m. when I was single. I like this location for the same reason I liked the other one...Consistently good food and good service at decent prices. My coffee cup is never dry and I definitely feel I'm getting more food for my money. For the record, I had a Grandslamwich on my last visit. The bread was grilled and the sandwich itself was pretty packed with egg, ham, cheese, etc.--really hardy and thick. Yes, it came with those dehydrated hashbrown shreds. I like them! I think it's clever prep work and I'd rather eat those than over-processed tater tots any day. The only disappointment was that the ham was a little too sweet. It had a heavy maple glaze. Other favorites I've had there are the Fajitas and the Grandslam breakfast. Both are perfect examples of getting a lot for your money. The plates are HUGE!

This is supposed to be a hamburger?

I love their cinnamon buns but this time I did not order one. My friend and I came here for supper. It was delicous. I had the Red Curry Laksa with prawns, PEI mussels, bok choy, carrots, bell peppers, red onions, vermicelli noodles, red coconut curry sauce, and cilantro. My friend had the falafel and fries. I loved my Red Curry Laksa. It was fresh and rich. Loved the red coconut curry sauce. The seafood was a decent portion. My friend liked her falafal but it definately wasn't the best she has had and was eyeing up my curry. Service was OK. I feel like because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we didn't get service as much as the tables that did. That won't prevent me from coming here again.

Both were so very tasty, and did not disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant is different than many places I've gone to. Being close to the University of Alberta main campus, many young students compose the clientele of Sugarbowl, but not limited to. The decor is very nice - brick walls and posters, and hand written beer menu, to name a few. Service was very good, professional, and friendly!! Overall good experience, and will return again in the future.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday, otherwise they open for lunch (closed Mondays). Epic Market is huge. This will be a very popular place for the Whyte Avenue crowd as there are so many options available depending on which floor you enter. We were on the second floor today for brunch but the first floor, which has a similar look and feel, has a Mexican menu. It opens for lunch at 11:30am. It's a unique concept for Edmonton. The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

My wife and I both ordered the Chandru Special for $17.50. It's a crepe with bacon and eggs inside plus some cheese slices melted on top. There was a side of fresh fruit. The presentation was somewhat lacking as the cheese slices made it look like something you find at your children's birthday party. The dish definitely needed some sauce to help it down. At least the fruit was good. Our server was very skilled at tunnel vision as she didn't see us even when walking right by our table. Eventually we caught her and got a refill for our coffee. She was pleasent enough when she arrived but definitely didn't want to do refills. On a more positive note, my friend ordered an omelet which came with potatoes that looked like thick potato chips. They looked good and he liked them. If I return it will be because I am in the area and can't find a better place. In other words, three stars out of five.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton

It's definitely got that old diner vibe which is always fun once in a while. If you're looking for a solid, traditional diner experience, you can't for wrong with Rockin' Robyn's.
