This was my first visit to this Atlas Steak + fish location, but I've to the location in Kamloops before, and that was a good experience. This visit was not. It was Mother's Day, but we had a reservation for an early dinner. We arrived on time, but despite having a reservation, we still had to 5-10 min for a table to be cleared and ready. From what I could tell, the restaurant was only half full, but not fully staffed. Much like the location in Kamloops, this look like a high-end steakhouse. The kids were impressed with mist covered entrance. Once seated we got our menus. It took a while for our server to come by, but as mentioned, they looked understaffed. The first thing she asked is if we want sparkling or still water. We chose still, only realizing later it was Evian water, not tap water. This was a common practice in fine dining restaurants decades ago, but I think the industry realized that it made feel customers cheated and so I haven't seen this for awhile. I feel it's the roughly the equivalent of being asked to tip for everything now - customers are feeling bad being forced to say no, and feels like a poor business practice. After taking our orders, we were served the complimentary bread. It looked good, but the moment I started to tear it apart, I could immediately tell it was not fresh. The outside was a hard dried-out shell, and the inside was barely warm - like it was sitting under a hot lamp for too long. The kids at the table also mentioned that it's not as good as they remember. We mentioned it to the server, and she thanked us for the feedback. I tried the following: - Prime Rib - Mixed review. The prime rib itself was good. I asked for medium rare, and that's exactly what I got. But It wasn't freshly carved, so it was luke-warm at best. Yorkshire pudding was hard and cold. The potato and kale/spinach pure were fine. The red wine jus had completely congealed. I forgot what it was, so when the plate was placed in front of me, it look like BBQ sauce, and not red wine jus. - New York Striploin - Not good. We asked for medium rare. It was clearly medium - and ended up dried out. I informed the server, and she was willing to replace, but I also encourage my family not to waste food, so we kept it, even if not at it's best. - Truffle & Parmesan Fries - Good. Very large portion size, so couldn't finish it. Service was spotty. Server was nice enough, but just didn't really have the tools or energy to help us with our problems. When we complained about the striploin, she did offer free dessert, but it was a big steak, and we were too full to take it. So what does that mean? I had to pay for still water, cold bread, cold prime rib, overcooked sirloin - at full price. I admit that the overcooked sirloin could have been fixed with a replacement and/or free dessert, but I don't think it would've made up for the entire visit. A place like Atlas aims to provide an ultimate dining experience, and once a mistake is made, it's an uphill battle to recover, and it certainly didn't here. I would have doubts coming back to this location, and possibly other locations too. read more

How have I not reviewed my favorite restaurant in edmonton? I have had everything on the menu here and everything is delicious. I have been recently eating here alot I the new year as I've been extremely lucky at starlight casino! Anyways, may fave items are the cocktail shrimp, the seafood salad, Tomahawk porkchop, the truffled Mac and cheese and of course the highly addictive baked Alaska. It is a mouthful but those are the best dishes here. Trust me. I've had everything 10 times over and have tried EVERYTHING! I love the ambience here. The live pianists on thursdays and weekends. Or the waiters giving you a show if you order the salads, Tomahawk steak or baked Alaska! The service is phenomenal and I've recently fell in love with the delicious happy hour here! Very expensive charred meat. I can't understand why anyone would go here when there are places that can cook a nice steak appropriately without adding carcinogens. If you are a wealthy, cigar smoking, alpha male with more money than you can spend, and need to impress your out-of-town relatives from the country what a big deal you are, bring them here and spend enough to pay a house less person's rent for a month. The staff were being trained and we were asked at least twice if we were here for a special occasion. We were. It was a birthday we told them twice. But no recognition or comp appeared at any time in our visit. The room was not cosy or comfortable. The space was cathedral and smoky. I felt exposed and uncomfortable in the space. It's a good place to bring a crowd if you are in the category of person listed above and have no interest in how your food tastes. read more

We were so sad when Atlas closed for almost 3 years during Covid. I was delighted to hear when they reopened. We came here for our anniversary and I have to say they have definitely upped their game since my last review. I had made reservations in advance and we were seated soon after we arrived. I still love the large half moon booths in this place, so private and romantic. There was again a live pianist playing almost the whole evening, and it created a lovely atmosphere. Our server was great, he was very attentive and friendly. We noticed that the special was prime rib & Yorkshire pudding. So we asked if we could just have a couple puddings for our appetizers. We were accommodated and pleasantly surprised with giant fluffy puddings filled with succulent gravy and sprinkled with micro greens. It was presented beautifully and tasted sublime. We ordered a bottle of wine and absolutely loved it. I ordered the Truffle steak special. It was amazing, the steak was perfectly seasoned and charred on the outside and cooked to perfection in the centre. My husband order the lamb which was also delicious and very tender. My dessert was the salted caramel creme brule and it was devine. Hubs ordered the cheesecake and it was also very good. And both our desserts had Happy Anniversary painted on our plates, so special! It was okay. Maybe I didn't order the best selling one and ordered the least popular ones on the menu. The truffle fries were ok. Ceasar salad was good and oysters. Lobster bisque was too rich and wasn't smooth, spicy lobster spaghettini wasn't spicy at all. Mussels and shrimps on it didn't taste right and felt like it needs to be rinsed and cooked again. This restaurant is located on the upper level of starlight casino in West Edmonton mall. It is near the high limit gaming area and does not allow kids under 18 years old. We have been here several times when we want to new enjoy a nice meal. This time we decided to try the all you can eat prime rib special on Sundays for $29. We ordered medium but it seemed like medium rare, we ate it anyway. The meat was so tender and flavourful I was very impressed. The sides that came with it were mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. The horseradish was also a little bit different and was not just horseradish. It was creamy like yogurt and very delicious! The portion was a good size. I was not able to order another piece of prime rib however my son and husband did request a second helping and our server brought out a whole plate including the sides! I have to say that was a bit too much food. We ended up sharing the meet. My daughter had the mushroom risotto and the portion was also very big. It was very tasty and well worth the $23! The ambiance is this restaurant is lovely, a pianist is playing music however at times can be a little too loud. Sometimes we can't hear each other during conversation. We came for dinner to celebrate a birthday in December. It was a busy weekend as the restaurant was a buzz of activity with most tables occupied likely for holiday celebrations. The service wasn't as attentive as it would have been if it were not busy, and the noise level was louder which sometimes drowned out the enjoyment of the music from the piano. We were seated at a booth and the server was great to offer suggestions on menu items. We had both the physical menu and the drink menu on the tablet to view. Around the table, we ordered oysters, chili rubbed cowboy rib steak, spicy lobster spaghettini, and the grilled salmon steak. The salmon steak was a fairly large salmon piece and it was tasty without being too salty. For dessert, we ordered the Baked Alaska (flambe tableside) as it was recommended by our server at Match. I have only had Baked Alaska on cruise ships and unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this dessert as much as those experiences. I think the combination of raspberry coconut ice cream, lemon sorbet, orange vanilla cake, and Italian meringue didn't seem to blend well for my palate. It was cut in small pieces for sharing around the table. For the birthday guest, she received a dessert of chocolate torte that was brought out to her. We noticed it was charged on the bill, and the server apologized when we were leaving as it was to be on the house and he provided cash back for the cost of the dessert. The experience was lovely and close to two hours at dinner. It wasn't quite a 5 star experience though. read more

Atlas Steak + Fish is nothing short of fabulous. From the decor to the food, I don't know where to start. Beauty is every where you look in this space. A stunning open kitchen, beautiful lighting, fresh flowers, and of course the grand piano. The ambiance is on point, and perfect for a special occasion, or just an enjoyable dinner out. If you have a large party, check out the private dining room. Of course, the star of the show is the food. I'm a huge fan of their Josper oven which smokes the dishes as they cook. I really don't think you could go wrong with any dish you pick, but I will say I was a huge fan of the seafood mixed grill, which was plenty for two people. The brie mashed potatoes & roast vegetables are a must! And for dessert - don't skip it. Just don't. Good luck picking between the salted caramel brûlée and chocolate torte ganache. Service at this location was top notch. Friendly hostess, attentive server, and the GM was super friendly and professional. Also worth noting is the cocktails, which are perfection. Atlas is a welcome (and much needed) addition to West Edmonton Mall, and the west end in general. So many times I've been asked by friends/family visiting where to eat near WEM. I never had an answer until now! Highly, HIGHLY recommended. I can't wait to go back. read more

Most expensive stake with the worst service ever. We all ordered food came but we didn't even get the meals we ordered so over an additional hour of waiting for the right order. They do have a good smoked scotch but otherwise I would not recommend it the keg makes better steak. read more

Located in the starlight casino on the second floor. It was a bit hard to find at first but once we found it everything was perfect. -As soon as we arrived we were seated right away. Unfortunately we were the only customers at the time. (Usually a bad sign) I was a bit on edge at first but the interior is quite beautiful. My girlfriends cocktail (imperial pearl) was delicious as she drank it right away. I had a little taste and it truly highlighted the pear quite well. -The bread that comes out with the blue cheese butter paired well together. The bread was light and fluffy and the cheese did not overpower it at all. -We started off with both the tomato bisque、lobster soup、 and the steak tartar. All were great. The tomato had quite a deep smoky flavor to it and helped battle the cold weather. The lobster soup had deep flavors of lobster through out each bite. The tar tar had a mustard type of sauce which I never imagined having it with! That truly blew my mind how well it worked! The tartar was definitely one of the highlights. -For our mains I chose the pork chop and my girlfriend had the truffle mushroom risotto. The pork chop tasted amazing no complaints. The apple relish definitely helped cut some of the fatiness of the pork belly so dont be put off by that. And the risotto had the flavor of truffle and mushrooms with each bite. You get that earthy taste that you so crave when ordering a truffle dish. Service was great and she talked to us throughout the meal. Situated right inside Starlight Casino on the 2nd floor of West Edmonton Mall (near the ice rink), this well-known steak house is famous for its high quality beef aged before being prepared in their mesquite-fired Josper oven. Live piano performance adds elegance to the experience. I wished the food was able to match up with the rest and be consistent. It was the all-you-can-eat prime rib Sunday. I couldn't finish my dish but for someone who has good appetite and loves prime ribs, this is highly recommended. I wasn't too crazy about the sauce. The steak was under seasoned but the steak itself was great. I have had better prime ribs with similar pricing. The side dishes were cooked nicely: spinach and Yorkshire pudding. The charred asparagus was well seasoned. However, the end of the stems for the majority was very tough. I had to cut off 1 inch from the end and the rest was fine. I wished the chewy ends were chopped off before being cooked. This dish was a bit too generous on oil. The freshly baked dinner roll in cast iron skillet was impressive. The warm soft bread with salt lightly sprinkled on top was served with herb butter on the side. This was the one perfect dish out of what I had for this dinner. I had to mention that the server was very courteous. He was busy and it took a little longer than usual to get his attention. read more

Gangnam Street Food's new West Ed location makes a fine addition to the WEM food court which seems to be expanding to have more local fare and interesting eats than the usual fast food places at every other mall. Gangnam carries over its specialty Korean street food to a new location and provides amazing kimbab, a variety of bowls, and their signature breaded hot dogs. I adore their kimbab (Korean sushi) and their mandu (dumplings) and need to make a priority of returning for some Gangnam fries. The variety of sauces offered in each of their dishes are all packed with flavour and most of them will make you sweat just a little. Korean street food is a welcome addition to West Ed and is worth making the trip out for on its own. You no longer need to settle for mediocre fast food when you can instead indulge in some amazing, flavourful, and ostensibly hip and unique Korean cuisine. read more

It was our last night in alberta and we were deciding where to eat. We were at the West Ed Mall and saw the Atlas Steak and Fish. We were greeted by Chad who was very friendly and made some good suggestions, we went with the parm truffle fries, mussel and clams and a lobster bisque to start. For our entree we went with the tomahawk steak. We were very surprised as the quality of food was very good, this was the second tomahawk steak we had on our trip in Alberta, the first being at the fairmont hotel at Lake Louise, and we were pretty disappointed as they had for remake our tomahawk steak because they over cooked it. But at the Atlas the tomahawk was perfect and very flavorful. We ended the meal with yet another awesome recommendation from Chad the Salted Caramel Creme brulee. Thanks to Chad and the kitchen staff for making our last meal in Edmonton memorable. read more

The steak was cooked to my requested perfection (medium rare) and each bite that I took was like heaven on earth. A must try for all foodies. The only complaint I would have is the slow service from my server. I had to get another servers attention in order to wave my server over. Went with a party of six on a Sunday. Were seated promptly and asked for our drink orders by a lovely young man. After about 30 minutes our waitress finally came to our table and asked if we had any questions about the menu and took our orders when ready. A couple of our party ordered the table side Caesar salad; it's less of a creamy dressing and more vinaigrette. Wasn't my favourite but my boyfriend enjoyed his. Our main meals came shortly after and there were rave reviews on the tenderloin, duck, chicken and pork chop. Unfortunately my halibut was extremely over cooked, especially for a restaurant that "specializes" in fish. But it came with a nice sauce so I didn't complain. We didn't order dessert but would have ordered coffee had they provided decaf. When the bill came we were surprised to see there was a special for "All you can eat prime rib for $29" as it was never mentioned to us prior to ordering. Overall, the food, atmosphere and service is quite impressive although they could work on their communication, coffee selection and cook of fish. read more

The wife and I decided to take the opportunity to experience the dining pleasures that everyone was raving about and was overwhelmed on what was so very true ! The service we had was with Anita, needless to say we were pampered and treated with such royal treatment it made the evening a dining pleasure. The meal was exquisite as everyone has mentioned and nothing seemed to be in a negative way as we took our time to enjoy the pianist they have playing just seemed to relax us for the experience that has never been matched to my knowledge in my dining experience in Edmonton. Price wise was a shocker as I never was one to look at the cost but had to review the bill as it seemed much lower than I thought but it was correct! My first time to visit this restaurant at West Edmonton Mall. One of the best steak restaurant. The Sunday all you can eat Prime Rib is a good deal. The tomato bisque soup is THE BEST. The risotto is the largest risotto serving I've ever had, really good. The calamari is totally different from other restaurants, not the typical deep fried, greasy type. Our server NATHAN is amazing, so friendly relax, and knowledgeable of his job, so we ended up ordering 5 appetizers,which are all good. The ambiance is so relax, romantic, just too bad that we can't bring kids here, as we always eat out a lot as a family. Ordered tha caesar salad & we were delighted w/ the engaging table side service but we also had the wedge salad the yummiest blue cheese dressing i had. Of course, the steak was perfection & dont forget to order the salted caramel creme brulee, to die for. The GM made our experience more special coz he took time to say hi to us & even showed us the state of the art private dining room, despite the restaurant being busy.
