Very disappointing overall. The white Sangria was nice. Unfortunately the starter came at the same time as the main and the waitron's response was to ask if we want it to be boxed? Not sure if this is a common practice as another 2 tables had the same thing happen. The ribeye was very rough and tasted like the cheapest cut of steak. The peppercorn sauce was inedible. Delicious brunch. Fresh and filling. Get the breakfast potatoes and hollandaise sauce!!! I came here for brunch and was pleasantly surprised at how hip this place was. Nice atmosphere and I loved the gold booth in the corner!!! We had the steak and eggs for both of us with a side of Guacamole and hollaindaise. This was a delicious meal. I especially loved the flavourful breakfast potatoes with hollaindaise. Probably like a more classy version of a poutine without the cheese! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were a good decent cut. Our coffee was great too. And I loved how they had $5 coffees and mimosas on special every weekend for brunch. It's not our first visit to Flame & Barrel. We went there when they first opened, a long time ago, and tried the Lamb Shank (forgot to take some pics at the beginning). Last Wednesday, we visited for their Wings Night, and I must say it was quite enjoyable. The wings turned out juicier than I initially thought. We ordered 4 plates with 3 flavors: Honey Garlic, No Sauce, and Sweet Chilli. It was close to 8 pm, so there weren't many people, which was nice, creating a cozy environment. My friend and I went here for lunch. The ambiance was lovely. Both inside and out. We decided to enjoy the patio and it was decent despite the fact it was backed into a parking lot. Server was friendly and pointed out some things that she thought would be good for us to try. She was also good and coming out and checking on the beer and water situation. I decided on the Peruvian beef sandwich with fries. My friend chose the same. Food came out in a timely matter. The sandwich was sloppy to eat but boy it was delicous. It had tomatoes, lettuce, garlic mayo. The beef was well cooked and tender. The fries were fries. Next time I probably would order something else. I met up with a gal pal for lunch. She suggested this place. First visit for both of us. Lovely, calm environment. Sweet, friendly hosts and servers. The menu is gigantic. What to choose? It clearly boasts great steaks, so that's what I chose. 6 oz filet mingon with giat cheese on top. It's probably the best steak I've eaten in Canada. Seriously. It was accompanied by some gorgeous mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrot and asparagus. Done to perfection. However, the garlic was so overpowering that I couldn't eat them. Oh well. I was full of meat anyhow. I'm still dreaming of that steak. I'm gonna go back for the surf & turf. We only drank water, so I can't comment on drinks, but the wine selection looked ok. Took my family of four (two young kids) for an evening out to flame and barrel. After looking at the online menu and reading some reviews we thought we'd try it. Ambience was fine and the service was great! The food however was a massive disappointment. Everything mostly tasted like it was pre frozen or store bought. From the kids pizza and pasta, to the wife's Asian stir fry, everything was very bland and dissatisfying. I had a burger and fries that was fine, again, something that I could have made at home no problem. I would highly recommend you go elsewhere if you're looking for a satisfactory meal. I was invited to come out for dinner here one evening. Apparently it's locally owned. The restaurant has the same vibe as a Browns Social House. I personally thought the food was just meh. I wasn't head over heels with anything I ate and neither were the people who I came with. My burger was dry and didn't have a whole lot of flavour. I found that the food was a bit on the pricier end for the quality. Our waitress was very nice but a bit slow. She consistently said she'd be right back only to re-emerge 10-15 mins later. We came here on a week day so it wasn't overly busy. I definitely don't have any desire to dine here in the future. read more

We came here on a whim while in Windermere. It was the first restaurant to pop up when we searched nearby. We were blown away. The atmosphere is wonderful, it's classy food with a more laid back vibe. The service was wonderful and our food was incredible (I had the twisted fettuccine Alfredo and my partner had the steak and lobster tail) It was definitely pricey but not unreasonable for the quality of food and service. We waited at the front for a bit and the hostest took her sweet time walking over to us after seeing us. We ordered the mussels to starts which were sub par. The sauce wasn't very flavorful as it just seemed creamy and didn't seem like it was cooked with the mussels very long. For our entrees the plates were so HOT that my husband burnt his finger because the server didn't warn us about the plates. For the brie chicken everything was bland.. The veggies were overcooked and the brie on top of the cheese just sat on top of the chicken sort of melted but not? The mushroom sauce paired with it well but there wasn't much of it. The garlic mash potatoes did not have garlic of any flavour in it. For the prime rib sandwich it was a bit hard to eat as there was lots of cheese on top of it so it wasn't a very handheld sandwich. Tried this restaurant last night and was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I used to eat here when it was State and Main. Anyway, my wife ordered their steak sandwich, which is usually a mistake, and I ordered the Drunken Mussels and Onion Soup. Everything was excellent, my wife said that it was probably one of the best Steak Sandwiches that she has ever had. My mussels and onion soup were exceptional as well. Service was excellent. Made reservations at Flame & Barrel for dinner and arrived on time. Had a very nice booth and the three of us enjoyed the poached pear salad to start. Was really delicious and the strawberries added further color and flavor. We went on to a blackened salmon, a rib eye and a prime rib. The latter wasn't the right temperature but was still quite tasty. I did not send it back because I'm not that sort of food snob. Other dishes were the ribeye which was good and the blackened salmon was the star of the show. Whipped potatoes for all and some veggies. Had a great Argentinean Malbec Reserve and then followed Donner up with their desserts. All were shared by three of us and the team members were quite pleasant and hospitable! The staff were very friendly and served us with respect and I we got our food pretty fast. The place was quite busy which alluded to the fact of its popularity. First time at Flame & Barrel and it will not be the last! From the start, the experience was fantastic! Mya was our server and made us feel welcome and comfortable right off the start! We asked for any recommendations, and she was very honest and helpful! The manager came around to make sure we were good too which was much appreciated! We shared the caprese salad and a small vegetarian pizza and both were amazing! It was my friend's birthday so I asked if they could embarrass her a little bit and they didn't disappoint! They brought out this amazing butcher board with Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce and one of the best crème brûlée I've ever had! They also sang "happy birthday" which was a nice touch! I know some people say it's a bit pricey, and it is, but when the food and service is top notch that doesn't really bother me too much.
