Very misleading hours posted we showed up there at 9:41 and were told that they were closing soon and that they shut their kitchen down at 9:45pm & that they had already done last call for food for the night. They were still willing to serve us food to go though when my friend initially asked for menus they said to go? . Super disappointing we drove a half an hour to make it on time and rushed and everything thinking that an hour and 20 minutes before it closes is more than enough time for a quick Dinner service for two people and obviously we're not a-holes so when the entire staff is ready to just shutter early and leave, we're not gonna be the two people that insist that they stay open. The guy working there was really nice to my friend apparently though. So nothing against the staff personally or anything. Oh, and the gazebo is getting wild. Pip is absolutely delicious for brunch and for dinner. I ate there twice in one day because my dinner reservation elsewhere was cancelled. The interior is beautiful exposed brick, warm grey chairs and banquets. Very comfortable and chic. The hostess and wait staff are friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions. For brunch I had the short rib benedict, atomic blond cocktail, and coffee. All were very good. For dinner I had the focaccia with whipped ricotta, a sazerac, the gnoochi, and an affogato for dessert. The whipped ricotta was the suggested appetizer by my server and of my goodness I could have crawled right into it--absolutely get that! The food service and ambiance are all excellent. I had the chicken and it was perfectly cooked, fork tender and delicious. The serving was quite large so I was glad I hadn't ordered salad, soup or appetizers. The water was lukewarm and still had the taste of the tap. The server was almost too attentive and kept it topped up. The desserts looked tempting but we were all too full to eat anything more than our mains. A good place to take a date or your parents. We decided to go to Pip to try it again for supper. This time I was more impressed then the last time. It is beautiful in the new location with more space and it seemed more personable than the last place. The wood work and the candles set an cozy space to enjoy drinks and chat. Our server was prompt and friendly. We decided on thow dishes - hubby decided on the steak fries and I decided on beef ragu. Both came out presented lovely. My husband's steak was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and a generous portion. Fries were well cooked with a tasty roasted garlic sauce to accompany it. The whole dish worked. My beef ragubeef ragu was made with a braised beef w/ pappardelle in tomato sauce and dusted with fresh cheese. I really enjoyed this dish. I don't live in Edmonton anymore so it's nice to try out restaurants when I'm in town. Pip is a new favorite! Dropped in on a Saturday morning hoping to grab brunch during the rush and we got lucky! We were seated right away. The interior is fresh and airy with a touch of art deco and lots of exposed brick. Our server Selene was super nice and took great care of us. We ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict and it was so good! Food came out pretty quick considering it was prime brunch time. Got a side of the Pip's hot sauce on the side and it was the perfect thing to top off the dish. Next time I would order the breakfast hash that comes with as extra crispy - that's just how I like to do breakfast potatoes. Still delicious the way it came, though! I love that Pip uses the yelp app so you can join the waiting list for brunches. It's super helpful. This place is small and really tight. Definitely not the place for you if you're even slightly wanting any kind of social distance. That being said the food is incredible. I had the mushroom toast and it FLOORED me. It was so unreal. A friend had recommended I tried the gnocchi and let me tell you I was not disappointed. This was by far the best gnocchi I've ever had. I wish the portion sizes were larger. The steak frites were really delicious as well. Only complaint is the service, it took just over 45 minutes to get the food. And it wasn't hot when we got it either. Then another waiter had came and gave us a $30 gift card for our next visit, and apologized for the wait. I stopped here this past week for late brunch on my way home from an appointment. I managed to snag a close street parking spot and I was seated quickly. I had hoped my friend could join me but unfortunately timing didn't work out. However, I did snag a spot on the back bench and was wonderful location to watch people walking by and not be blinded by the rare sunlight we seem to be enjoying this fall. There is also bar stools along another window that would be perfect if you know up front you're just grabbing a quick coffee or are by yourself. As observed last time, this place is perfect for those grabbing a meal solo or have 2-3 persons/table. I arrived a bit later than 1 pm and it was still quite busy up until I left (a bit after 3 pm), which is interesting to see on a week day. As it was that busy the whole time, the level of noise stayed fairly constantly loud with amount of people and background music. My server was wonderful and very attentive. Coffee here is tasty and food arrived quickly this visit. Again, I had the bennie but this time with what I think was the braised short ribs for the meat. Loved the smokey taste. Potatoes of course to accompany it (as how else would you got to make sure you get all that hollandaise sauce off the plate without looking like a 2 year old licking your plate clean?). I really liked the range of choices on the menu and will be back again to try something else. Glad this experience made me want to increase my star rating. I can honestly say this was the first time I ever ate a grilled cheese sandwich with a knife and fork. My wife and I have been wanting to visit PIP for a while now, and today we finally got that chance. My wife had a lobster roll and said it was absolutely fantastic. I had the grilled cheese with an over easy egg and dill hollandaise sauce and it was absolutely fantastic. The service we received was very good and I quite enjoyed the atmosphere. If you can get past Mike, the incredibly obnoxious and dismissive 'host;' the overcooked slow cooker pot roast, fresh dill, and extra tart hollandaise is almost worth the $20 plate. Just kidding. Check out the other low reviews on Google about 'the middle aged host' for some affirmation. You werent even that busy. Your entire establishment has maybe 10 tables? Youre the first point of contact in a restaurant; after a show of disrespect like that it can only go downhill for everyone. I do appreciate that the servers were all very nice and excellent at their job but unfortunate victims to Mike. This is besides the lukewarm tapwater given to us in dirty, excessively fingerprinted, water glasses. Which in usual circumstances could be forgiven. As someone that makes it a point to always finish their food or take their leftovers home - i couldnt enjoy my meal even when i tried to force myself. The disrespect i experienced as a hungry, hopeful, and paying patron was to the point that i lost my appetite. In summary, i like to eat but i literally could not stomach this otherwise half-decent meal. The traditional Benny is the most acceptable. Avoid this place. Not worth the hype - Denny's, Cora's, Route 99, OEB, McDonald's, and Tim Hortons are much better options. At least you wont be treated like swine. I was told it gets very busy here so good thing we came for late brunch and there were seats available right away. I started off with a Hugo Spritz and decided to try their lunch special which was a Grilled ham and cheese sandwich with egg and hollandaise sauce topped with a cup of mushroom soup. If you come with an empty stomach and want something hearty and delicious, you should definitely try it but I heard it's only there for a limited time. We arrived early ~9:30AM on a Sunday for brunch. They fill up fast and it's a pretty small restaurant, so definitely utilize Yelp waitlist before your arrival for a shorter wait! They accept reservations for dinner. The street parking nearby is free on Sundays. Pip is the first restaurant I've ever been to that offers lobster rolls at brunch! I was super excited about this and of course had to get it. The lobster roll features lobster salad with lemon aioli served on a toasted herb-butter bun for $24. They were generous with the lobster chunks! This is my first time having a lobster roll in a bun brushed with herb butter. It made all the difference! The herb butter on the toasted bun reminded me fondly of garlic bread. Sooo delicious! As long as they keep serving this lobster roll I'm going to keep returning. The lobster roll is available for other meals as well (lunch, dinner). For brunch it is served typically with hash but I opted to add $1 to sub for their house salad. - butter lettuce, feta, tomato, red onion & herb parmesan vinaigrette. My boyfriend ordered the Short Rib Eggs Benedict ($19) - braised beef, caramelized onion, dill hollandaise, soft poached eggs served with house hash. This seemed to be a very popular dish. The dill hollandaise was delicious! So creamy. The hash was excellently done as well. I would love to see them do a smoked salmon eggs benny with that dill hollandaise!
