I definitely recommend the Brussels Sprouts as they were one of the highlights. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Frites and it was tasty. Went here recently for brunch @ 11AM with some friends. This location is directly across from Duchess bakery and cafe, so I was pleased to find a fair-sized parking lot shared by the businesses here. Three Vikings has a system for parking registration right by the door that provides you with three hours free -- very handy. The front of the house is large, spacious, and rustic. We sat and waited a short while for the third in our party who has a guide dog for diabetes. Dog greeted us briefly, tucked herself next to our friend, and we ordered from the surprisingly extensive brunch menu. The service here is absolutely fantastic -- we had our drinks in no time, and I asked the server to choose between two items for me. He had the people sense to choose something that was not only great, but great for me. It was the Pico Benny, and we all ordered versions of the Benny menu selections along with beverages from the bar: two mimosas and a virgin Caesar. The non alcoholic menu is impressive and one friend at the table said she had tried several items during former visits, and gave them all good reviews. Food arrived quickly, water glasses were kept full and table was bussed promptly, and by the time we finished most of the room was full, even the large tables, but there was little difficulty hearing ourselves. The eggs on the bennies perfectly matched the ways we had ordered them and stayed hot as we ate them. Hash browns were crisp outside and a few were crisp all the way through, but most were fluffy inside. The friends I had breakfast with live nearby, so I anticipate coming here often in the future at all times of day. Three brunch entrees plus beverages plus 20% tip came to 71 dollars and change, very reasonable for quality and overall experience. read more

I keep coming back to this place & still have the same love for the atmosphere, food & ability to visit with friends. Granted I might have automatically loved the place as there's very limited options for dining out that has Scandinavian food, let alone a bigger focus on Danish food. Parking is limited & tight but in front of the restaurant but there's street parking (and I heard if you tell the waitstaff you parked elsewhere you could get a voucher but do check that for yourself as I don't know if that's only for summer). It might not have much for parking, but to have such a dog friendly patio is wonderful. Most times I've gone to 3 Vikings during winter, as they have such hearty meals with my favourite Danish meatballs (frikadeller), mashed potatoes, gravy (that I never find too salty) & red cabbage. There's always a selection of Scandinavian inspired open faced sandwiches too. Those that love beers, you'll be happy with a large selection. Most recently, I had eaten here in late summer. I had the fish & frikadeller as mini sliders & I was very happy to see the red cabbage was accompanying the frikadeller on the slider. That combo is classic for me. The fish was light & had the perfect amount of crunch with the raw cabbage/coleslaw as a patio snack. They have great tasting fries but the popcorn... try it. That nutritional yeast, garlic oil & whatever else they have on it makes you want to not share! Dessert - always leave room for it here. Just trust me on that. They usually have pastries on the menu (my first choice & never disappointed with the saskatoon berry one) but if it's not there, go for the rice pudding. Those that had store bought rice pudding, this is not the same. This is thick with fresh cream, deliciously filling & is always topped with berry sauce (& this visit was with candied nuts, I'm assuming it was almonds as that's very typical). Traditional rice pudding in Denmark (usually served for Christmas) has one full almond amongst the slivers of almonds within the rice pudding bowl. At Christmas, it is a game & dessert combo. So we see who can find the almond quickest yet not too quick. As we want most of the rice pudding to be eaten. With the restaurant potion size, it could be a shareable dessert but honestly, go big. Tell the SO or friend to order their own. ;) For my limited accessible friends, there is a variation of seating heights, the floor inside for the most part is one level but getting past those vehicles... they park right up front (due to limited parking spots) & might be really tricky for someone in a wheelchair or a walker to enter. I know I even had to step over a parking curb to get past the vehicle to the patio. I always mean to check the door for accessible opening button but it never fails someone is at the door opening/holding it for me & this time I was on the patio (you don't need to go inside to enter patio). It's been ages since I've spent long enough time here that I needed to use the washroom before leaving but from what I remember (pre-pandemic so this is awhile ago) there wasn't any huge barriers getting to the washroom. It's definitely on the trendy side with unique offerings and kitsch decor that's not actually Nordic (the larp shield on the wall could pass, maybe, if you don't really pay attention too closely). The salad was something you don't normally find in other restaurants like this and I absolutely appreciated the brightness and freshness it provided. The burger was passable, but I probably would have desecrated it with ketchup if a bottle had been on the table. I desperately needed refills on my Coke but our server was seemingly too busy and even forgot to return to us once after taking my glass away. My dinner companion gave me theirs to tide me over. I'd probably go back as there are options on the menu I was interested in, but it really wouldn't be high on my priority list. Parking is very tight in a small lot and free, but they need to give you a pass to place on your dash. To me this restaurant is inconsistent. I had a meh experience the first time around, then I had a good experience and then I had another meh experience. I came here because their frikedeller won top 100 things to eat in Edmonton. And thier smorrebord was also mentioned. We didn't realize they had a brunch menu because it was newly developed but they had a frikedeller hashbrown bowl theat was fairly similiar to their other frikedeller meal. It was just adding a sunside egg and changing the mash potatoes to hashbrowns. Also we got the smorrebord which are open faced Danish sandwiches. The ones that were offered had shaved beef and then another meat. They were not memorable. I can't even remember what the meat was. I have had this smorrebord at the Danish cultural center and it was way more flavourful. Actually I had one at Ikea and I have to say, that was more flavourful. They were filling. They didn't skimp on the meat at top, but if it is bland it doesn' matter. The Friki hashbowl was filling and the eggs were properly cooked. However the the Frikadller ground pork was bland. This made top 100 things to eat in Edmonton and I have no idea why. I think the hasbrown bowls at OEB are much more tasty. The last time I came everyone loved their food. But this time not so much. This place had been on my list to try for a very long time. Finally got a chance to check it out for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Dill Pickle soup to start then their version of Eggs Benedict. Aside from having carrots in the soup, which I dislike, the soup was hot and tasty. The Eggs Benny had a pickle on it which gave an odd flavor. I'm definitely far behind on my reviews. I was able to try this place out before moving out of DT. I didn't get to test the patio because it was right in the middle of the heatwave, so we sat inside. I tried some of the Icelandic beer "Brio" - it was good. Definitely more of a lighter taste. I didn't learn much about it though. But I thought I would try a few sips since I've never had it before. Another interesting drink on their menu is Mead. I would like to try that one day too but didn't notice it until I was leaving! I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I mean just look at the photo... it was as amazing as it looks. My partner had fish and chips and he said they were great! We had the Indian inspired butter chicken poutine (its just the sauce but no chicken so it is vegetarian) as a starter and it was good but I will say it was incredibly salty. I think the fries are salted on their own, and then they just add the sauce on top. So the sauce just doesn't have that nice butter sauce flavour anymore it is really over powered by the salt. This place is a must for some casual eats and great selection of beer and wine! They just reopened for dine in and they have a great summer patio as well. They have reduced hours at the moment so check before you go! I ordered the March special chicken sandwich with homemade ketchup which was absolutely delicious! The chicken was large and so yummy really hit the spot. The fries were thick cut and crispy and went so well with that homemade ketchup which I devoured. The special also came with a can of Collective Arts IPA that was a special brew with International Women's month! It was so delicious I wanted more hahaha! The special totalled $25 and $3 of that went to support our local women's shelter in Edmonton. A worthy cause and a great price!! I definitely will go back and try other menu items. First time venturing out for phase 2 and we were not disappointed. The Mrs. had the Grilled Cheese with mushroom and bacon and I had the Fish and Chips. It was great and we shared. The batter was light, but crispy, and the fish was tender. The sauce was homemade and great! There was homemade ketchup for the fries as well. Usually coleslaw is an after thought that I don't even touch m, but this slaw was awesome. The veggies were julienned and the dressing nice and light. My wife's Grilled cheese was really good as well. She had the garlic fries which were great. I chose Three Vikings as the restaurant I wanted to visit for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. They have just recently opened back up for dine in because of the pandemic and they did great. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I started with the Balsamic Brussels Sprouts ($14) and they might be the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. The bitterness of the Brussels with the sweetness of the dill caraway cream was one of the best bites I have ever had. For my main I quite enjoyed the Stegt Flaesk ($20), crispy Alberta pork belly, duck fat potatoes and a citrus herb cream sauce. I don't know if I would order it again but I am glad I tried it once. They have an ok selection of craft beer, I enjoyed a couple pints of the Last Best IPA. I will also have to go back with my kids. I didn't realize they accept kids and definitely have a great looking "Little Vikings" menu. I also appreciate that they have a baby change table in the mens washroom. read more

A cozy pub with cozy pub food - I really like it here! They have a lovely patio in the summer in the parking lot, so the atmosphere isn't super tranquil but you get to sit outside. There is also a nice fireplace in the corner and dartboards on a stage where they have live music sometimes. The service has always been great here and we've come a few times for different reasons. If you feel like snacking, there is a long table platter with a variety of things (that popcorn is so addictive) and it's ok value. The ratio of too little vegetables to a giant bowl of hummus was very off though. Less dip, more vegetables please. I also really like their hot dog and their wings! It basically looks exactly like the last bar that was in there looked; with a few changes here and there. But ultimately, it's a cozy, dimly lit pub that is a solid choice for the area. read more

After spending Saturday morning wandering around the market, we were famished! This was one of these "Where do you wanna eat? When we see it, we'll know." kinda deals. And Three Vikings appeared! I laughed when I checked in on the Yelp app and saw that I had bookmarked this place already! We sat by the open door near the patio and enjoyed the fresh air and people watching. It was pretty quiet when we were here (middle of the afternoon) so the service was stellar. I'm always happy to see a decent selection of craft beer on tap, and they didn't disappoint! I tried a Sea Change blackberry wheat ale (delish!) and hubby had a Village Squeeze lemon berry helles (tart and yummy!) The menu offered a limited selection of items but that's not a bad thing. I'd rather see a "we do a few things, but we do them well" rather than the "we have 479 items on the menu that are ok" philosophy. As a proud Canadian-Dane living in Edmonton, I was super stoked to hear about a Danish restaurant that had opened up a few months ago. I've been following The Three Vikings on Instagram for some time now and found myself drooling over pictures of Frikadeller (meatballs), Smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches), and Æbleskiver, yummy pancake like doughnuts. As the organist for the only Danish church, I have tasted some pretty great Danish food over the years. My aunts are some of the best Danish cooks in town. I don't get to eat Danish food often, when I do, it's a real treat. So I was really excited to learn that The Three Vikings had moved in not too far from where I live. I finally made it out to the restaurant with a friend today. I managed to coax her into trying the Smørrebrød. She loved it. She said the salad and fries were good too. I had the Frikadeller, with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. I was really surprised at the quality of the Frikadeller. Again, our church has annual competitions on who makes the best Frikadeller. The ones I ate today were very tasty and cooked just the right amount. My only complaint might be that there was a little too much gravy on top of the potatoes. But honestly, everything was so good it didn't matter in the end. There are plenty of options to choose from on the menu for those not fond of traditional Danish food. But I'm glad I gave the restaurant a chance and am happy to provide a positive review as an Elite reviewer. Positives: great location, great ambiance, ample seating. friendly and fast service (it was slower when we went). Prices: reasonable Cons: parking may be limited during peak service hours. It is conveniently located right next to a bus stop on 124 street. Features: blue grass band on Sunday mornings, monthly specials - more delicious Danish treats to try. My husband and I brunched here on Sunday with our two friends and overall it was a pleasant experience. It's a cute little place on 124th across the street from Duchess and luckily they do have a small parking lot out front. I simply could not decide and ended up getting the finish pancakes and the breakfast sandwich (why not right?) and I enjoyed both! The finnish pancakes were thin but fluffy and not too sweet and the complement of fruit and syrup as well as the topping of bacon was an added delight. The breakfast sandwich was quite delicious as they had some good sauce with it and I found the bread to be soft and satisfying as well. My husband was not a huge fan of his meal (bacon and eggs), which may be why I decided to give it a 4. His eggs were quite runny and he didn't find his dish to be anything too special. Our other friends enjoyed their meals however and we all shared one of their desserts which was quit tasty! I do have to say the service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Overall the ambience was quite good too and I loved the look of the place. It's a great place to brunch and honestly I would maybe recommend getting some more of their specialty dishes as opposed to maybe the bacon and eggs. The owners have managed to renovate the space into a spot that feels bright, clean, slightly rustic yet cozy. Tons of natural light filters in through the windows facing 124 Street. They serve brunch on weekends which is the reason we came to check it out. The menu options aren't extensive but executed well. I ordered the Finnish pancakes which came with Irvings Farm bacon, whipping cream and fresh berries. I quite enjoyed the lot, except the bacon became soggy from the whipping cream. I can't remember what my husband ate as he had already started devouring his meal by the time I arrived back from the washroom. But I know he enjoyed his meal as well and it was laden with sausage and bacon. There is an extensive beer selection on tap. I don't drink beer so I opted for a delicious brunch mimosa. There are highchairs for the wee ones.... in fact I counted 4 other tables who had young kidlets with them as well! And there's a change table in the women's washroom. Service was super friendly from everyone - thank you. And best of all, every other Sunday they advertise a live bluegrass band from noon - 2 I believe. Oh my ears were happy listening to the group jam and everyone in the room, including my toddler, seemed to enjoy them as well. Bestie and I checked out the Viking display at the new Provincial Alberta Museum, so a trip to Three Vikings was obvious. We made our visit on a cold blustery day, so the waitress recommended the Frikadeller. Good call. It was exactly what we needed on such a nasty rainy day in June, and we ate everything on our plate. My bestie ordered a mojito style mead and I had a sip. Ooooh, that was truly divine! I want to have a few of those when I'm not driving on a nice hot summer day. We were a bit disappointed that there wasn't as much Scandinavian food as we'd hoped on the menu, but the waitress reminded us that Scandinavian food is rather heavy fare not really suitable for summer. She's right. But bestie was looking forward to trying the Finnish pancakes. Next time maybe we'll just ask if they'd be willing to make them for us anyway. Although I miss Daravara, Three Vikings is doing a great job in filling the gap in terms of a cozy place for a meal or drink. The interior has been redone with some Scandinavian decor, and the menu is definitely Dutch-inspired. I had a "beet and bean burger" and it was unlike any veggie burger I have ever had. The beet definitely overpowered the bean (in a good way), and the patty was HUGE, in a fresh bun with tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, and fried onions. My friend had the curry mushroom soup and she found it hearty, rich, with a slight bit of acidity to cut through the richness. I've been wanting to visit three Vikings for awhile and finally made it happen. For the restaurant itself there is plenty of seating, good lighting, and the noise level is good. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, and the tables were clean and ready to go. Myself and my friend are both beer guys and they had a great selection of beers on tap, mostly locally brewed. We started with the pretzels. They were served still warm and soft with two dips. Didn't blow my mind but they were very good. Then I had the stuffed Yorkshire pudding. It was a Yorkshire pudding stuffed with braised short ribs on a pile of mashed potatoes and gravy on top. It was amazing. I didn't think I was going to be full at the end, but I was. The taste was amazing, I haven't had anything like it. Service was pretty slow but I think they were under staffed for the night. I really am a fan of their homestyle scratch cooking. Like the food is great, I will never not think that. Their menu is interesting and has a decent amount of variation... BUT I've often been disappointed with the seeming lack of professionalism of the wait staff and long wait times for drink and food orders.i really do like to give places the benefit of the doubt, and I do find the staff to be friendly and kind - but every time I've come in I've had similar experiences with the wait times. I've brought friends who say they'll never come back due to the slow service, and felt embarrassed by the recommendation. Granted they get quite busy, but that is to be overcome by proper training and adequate staffing, not at the expense of the customer experience. The last time, & it's late in patio season - but we didn't have a single glass or plate bussed while we were there. & If it's too much of a hassle to serve the patio, why even leave it open? Seems to be a lot of confusion and chaos surrounding the food/drink service here. Candidly, in the past I've even seen seen staff just hanging out around the bar while I've waited on food/drinks. I'm giving 5 stars because I support local and the service was so bad here that we ended up at Northern Chicken, where we were giving the best food, the most random but delicious beer and I picked up the softest hoodie I've ever worn. We were at this place for half an hour, there were two other tables (3 top and a 2 top) and the only thing we ordered was a Cesar (also not recommended, should have tried the old fashioned), our menus were stacked and on the edge of the table but our server just kept walking by like we were invisible. I ended up asking the bartender for my bill, I did leave a tip because we all have off nights. Not sure if we will be back, but there are a lot of great places in the area. read more

The wife and I wanted to go out and try something different work from the south side so we thought we would visit something on the west end and we looked up on the net pubs that had dart boards and three Vikings kept coming up in the search so we headed out on the bike and went over there hoping to play some darts and have a few drinks and maybe a happy when we got when we got there there was no way you could play darts they had tables in front of the dart boards so that was a no-go we had a beer and a Caesar which were really good as well as the fries which were also really good but pretty disappointed that they advertise having dart boards and then you get there and you can't play if you're not going to use them take them down read more

Three Vikings is the new bar/pub that has sprung up on 124th st where Daravara once stood. It was probably home to the slowest service ever. I've stared at our waitress once and she just pretended not to see me. Maybe it's just me though, actually this happens all the time :(. However, this time around the service was pretty fast and the dish I had was pretty dope. The Frikadeller was pan fried pork patties, Parmesan mash, gravy, red cabbage and house made pickles. It was great, the pan fried pork patties were so juicy but the Parmesan mash could've used a bit more butter. Red cabbage was just a touch sweet and was perfectly simmered. Rest of the menu looks promising but this dish seems to be the most popular of the bunch. Not according to me, but our waitress who actually provided great service. This is a great little spot!! A nice open layout and two big garage doors that would be really nice in the summer. The food was AMAZING!! Solid portions and decent prices for what you get. There were 6 of us and 8 dishes so it did take a bit to come out, but once it did it was fab. Poutine was great. A little lacking on the cheese and the gravy could have been a tad saltier but the flavour was there 100%. The burger was a bit over cooked and dry. I have never had anything other than a really good time at Three Vikings. The food has always been really good (oh the popcorn!) although I think the Covid era menu is smaller than it was before. Nice craft beer selection and you can get a decent bottle of wine for $30. Always the service has been great. No complaints at all there. I'm not sure why but the temporary patio with picnic tables in the parking lot is so much fun. Nothing scenic to see but the people watching is fun. read more
