O'Byrne's is a traditional Irish pub along the main strip of Whyte Avenue. From the music to the decor, O'Byrnes has got it right. It's a great place to drop by after work to relax with a beverage of choice -- needless to say, Guinness is on tap. There is also a full line of other beers and spirits. The menu is a small step above typical pub grub. Also with an Irish flavour, there are items traditionally found at these sorts of establishments intermixed with Irish dishes. I enjoyed a boxtie for supper one evening - a large potato pancake topped with beef, vegetables, and gravy. At another time, I had the "hangover breakfast" (even though I did not require it for medical purposes) - it was a generous helping of steak, eggs, and hash browns that served as my lunch, rather than breakfast.

$4.50 pints for happy hour (2-8pm). Decent food. I tried the coconut crusted fish and chips. Hubs had the traditional. Our friend had a giant plate of delicious sausages. We've always had great service. Been coming here for 15 years.

2.5 stars. So I have gone here for years and years and years. It was my favourite Irish pub and I loved hanging out on the patio or the lovely restaurant and having a pint and talking into the wee hours. And then, maybe 5ish years ago, my friends and I found that there was a shift in the place. New management? Tired management? not sure. The food came out sloppy. Maybe there was more competition (Fionn MacCool's and Duggan's Boundary Irish Pub?) And if it was the food that would be one thing, it was the service that took a huge dive. Not enough servers, and the servers we had were either overwhelmed or rude. Three years ago my girlfriends and I who always go during the Fringe for a drink and food there vowed never again after our server was snippy to us without being provoked and our food came out lukewarm. I love good Celtic music so my husband and I decided to venture there for a date. The music was wonderful. Really worth going to if you love that sort of thing. We will probably be back. We didn't even bother with the food and just ordered a few pints. Our server was pleasant enough but it took her forever (on a non busy Tuesday night) to get to our table to begin with and then back. It was clear she had way too many tables to serve. It is sad. It is sad that many of my friends who love genuine Irish food, atmosphere, and music have gone to other places. We go to Duggan's Boundary Irish Pub ourselves when we want good service, food and welcoming. This is a decent place to go to if you are bumbling around Whyte Ave and need a pint. But if you want real Irish hospital seek somewhere else. I hope for the sake of the institution O'Byrne's created and for the people themselves, they relook at how they are doing things. Perhaps they are making enough money to do well enough on the weekends with the bar hoppers, but I didn't think this place was about that. And I have hopes that it can change.

Nice atmosphere with live music. A decent place to visit with colleagues after work. I made many friends here drinking beer together:)

Going to O'Byrne's on a Saturday at midnight is completely different than being there at noon . When you go during the day, it's a fantastic place. Big sunny patios, fantastic prices. It would be a 4 star review. But go Saturday at midnight? It's like hanging out with a friend who's had far far too much to drink. Go home OBryrne's you're drunk. Overpriced drinks, I think with tax and tip about $20 for two kokanee, unattractive bar crowd....(so that's why there's no line up) and worst of all a very very very bad DJ. I've had the joys of working in the hospitality / bar world for a while (running an afterhours for over half a decade) in the past. And I can tell you the DJ was by far the worst I've heard in a long long time. I"m not going to knock the song choices (pretty much the same as you would hear as at the Pint or Hudsons) but the way he played them. He had the horrible tendencies to try and "mix them", but I know what a mix should sound like. I also know what a train wreck sounds like, and this DJ was the audio equivalent of Via Rail explosion. The mixing itself wasn't the worst it was the way he would.... cut off ...the song...before the...hook played out. It would be like reading this review and having....the food was really...that's where I saw the girl with the huge...entrance near the door don't....banana is the number ....bing bong......annnnnnnnnddd still mixing......illogically. Annoying right? Pros Great summer day time bar Fantastic SERVERS both day and night On Whyte so popping in for a Pint and Stroll are great Cons... Do not go on the weekends in the evening....just don't

O'Byrne's is a unique place to go. It's sooooo Irish! First reason to go to O'Byrne's: Great Specials These guys have some awesome food and drink specials throughout the week. Don't miss them! Second reason to go to O'Byrne's: Entertainment The live music here is great. I've experienced a couple acts that were somewhat sub par, but for the most part, they are really good. Local talent at it's finest. Also, every Monday they have dueling pianos. It's great! Third Reason to go to O'Byrne's: Experience Like I said, this place isn't just a pub, it's an experience. It is a culture all its own. The atmosphere is great and it's always a lot of fun.

Been here for many a nights out and highly recommend it, staff are fantastic and quick even though they are rushed off their feet. This was the first time I've ordered food and I must say it was fantastic, I got the steak sandwich and my husband got the O'Byrnes burger. The wait time was perfect was service was good too. Will definitely be back for food as well as a night out!

Many drink selections and the food is great too. Nice patio.Staff is great and easy going. The place is a little bit loud but it is a pub after all. Awesome décor, love all the spaces, including 2nd floor for big groups. All you can eat fish and chips? Maybe just chips because when I asked for and another order of fish I got a "look" and had to wait for 30minutes! However, it is a great place to stop by!

Probably the best i had in the city. The Next Act is non descript with the decor. It does have a nice patio if you are able to snag a spot. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly despite the full restaurant. This time I tried The Pyro with habanero cream cheese, bacon, crispy onions, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Hubby ordered The Critic - smoked cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce Our friend ordered The Scout - jack cheese, chimichurri, crispy onions, avocado, and roasted garlic mayo We all chose the fries as a side. It was delicous. And this time the fries were great and not soggy. My burger was delicious. If you like heat, this one is for you. Both other people at the table enjoyed their burger as well. I saw someone have the mac and cheese, and that looked delicous. However I don't think I can skip the burger and order something else.

We were luck to slide through the front door 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the night and order a burger to go. We got the Critic with a side of poutine and scurried back to our hotel room with our secured goods. The burger was amazing and exactly what we needed. The patty was substantial with a great crust against the sweetness of the caramelized onions, all between two pillowy soft buns. The burger was also huge, as it was double the size of what you would get an the golden arches. We got back fast enough that the poutine fries were still crunchy with a curds melted into the thick gravy. So happy that The Next Act was open at our moment of need. Forever grateful.
