I have walked by many times but have never eaten here. It was recommended by a friend for our group to come for Wing Wednesday. I'm glad we made a reservation for our group as it was busy at 7:30 when we arrived. They had many different wing flavours to select from. I can't have spicy food so I went with honey garlic and taco rub. I was expecting small portions but I was pleasantly surprised how many wings came in my order and couldn't finish them. I enjoyed the honey garlic more than the taco rub. For Wing Wednesday they don't provide veggies and dip but you can get it added for $2 and you get a free carrots and celery sticks. Service was ok, not the best and since we had a group, they tacked on 18% for tip. But for $16.50 for 2 different wings, the price was right. I dined here last wednesday, and was greeted by a host. She sent us to a seat that was not in view of the tv, and this lovely young lady Paige offered us a seat to which we could see the tv. Props to this lady who stood up to the rude host who tried to reprimand her for being good at her job. I ordered The Heat, and my buddy ordered The Great One Presentation was top notch, we each got our own cone for the curly fries, and they were very crispy, and well seasoned! My burger had just enough heat to make it interesting, but not so much so that it was inedible. Excellent beef flavour, and the combination of sauces and cheese were an excellent match! I will be back! My buddy ordered The Great One, and his burger was huge. I didn't think he would be able to finish it. What a great place to grab a burger and a pint. After walking around the mall shopping my wife and I decided to stop in here for a bite and a pint. I love that you can build your own burger, don't have to feel bad about taking things off and substituting for other things. The burger was delicious, I strongly recommend you get the house mayo on the burger, so good. The kettle chips were ok a little crispy for my liking but that's just my opinion, I am sure others like them crisp, I will just get fries next time and be happy. Our server was great (I missed her name) and the Manager (Nolan) was awesome. They have a huge selection of beer on tap, of course I couldn't help myself from having an amazing IPA. The decor is typical sports bar style, a large open area with sports items on the walls and gigantic T.V.'s at both ends of the restaurant. The service was very good and I was happy to see a lot of variety in the liquor menu. I chose a Pump House Blueberry Ale...YUM! Hubby had the soup of the day (tomato & basil) and the deep fried pickles. The soup was flavourful & creamy, the pickles were battered with a light and crispy tempura-like batter with a side of creamy dip. Probably one of the best deep fried pickles I've ever tasted! I enjoyed the fish tacos (3 to an order) which were well seasoned and topped with fresh ingredients in a soft flour tortilla. Been 5 years since last here. I lost a hockey bet (thanks Oilers!) and owed my friend beers and wings and she chose this place. My experience was better than 5 years ago. Great service and the wings looked good, I opted for the lamb burger which actually was good as well. It's an ok place if want to go for wing night and have a beer, but there are other lounges I'd go to first before coming here. So we opted for an order of nachos and deep fried pickles. These are absolutely, 100% my favourite nachos in the city and i can't wait to get back for more of them. They use a delicious taco beef and a MOUND of cheese. All the toppings seemed fresh and nothing was wilty or soggy. Now... those deep fried pickles. A friend and I stopped in for a quick drink and an appy before we had to be a concert. We were seated quickly by a friendly (pair!) of servers. My friend is newly pregnant so sadly she could not join me for a drink, but the server was pleased to offer a non-alcoholic beer or cocktail which ended up being perfect for her :) (I had a cider!) My friend ordered their build-your-own burger option, checking off the type of bun, condiments and toppings and I tried the chicken wings. Our food took quite a long time to come out - which I think was unusual because the manager, or a senior staff member came out and was sure to check in with us and apologize for the delay. It's a party with pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, etc. on it. It was really good. The patty is fried, not grilled,so it had the nice crunchy caramelized edges. Portions are huge and I can barely finish half of a burger, but the flavors are great and the array of different food items is great. However I wouldn't suggest the West Ed location. I've been there a few times and every time I've gone the waiting staff is quite rude and take a very long time to serve you. They aren't very attentive and quite frankly seem bothered by having costumers. If a game is on and I'm with a group, I might come back for some wings and drinks. We came here when our first choice was closed on Sunday. I had the bison burger. It was good, but the only really standout part was the bun. The bun had tasty toasted sesame seeds. I think that is what they were they were dark like poppie seeds, but shaped like sesame. And the bun was sturdy enough to stand up to a packed burger it did not fall apart or get soggy. So great there but rest of the burger was so so. The menu mentioned and onion jam that sounded great but we not as good as it was in my mind. Barry had fish and chips again. After fish and chips last time he is now in some sort of a loop. These were good but the fish was a bit small. And if it was me, I would have to rearrange it all as the fries came in a little bucket and I don't know if I could eat fish and chips without the fish sitting on top of a pile of fries. Very bad service when the server Bailey and manager Scott at wem thought I was yelling when I didnt yell after being blamed by the waitress and 5 tables, how can you prove for something they dont know about when it had to do with my husbands beer being stale. The manager was not there to see that happened and what did he do, go up to 5 tables and undermine his customers. I think this isnt a miscommunication, this is pretty much of a misunderstanding. A friend and I decided to check this place out on a Friday night and didn't have the greatest experience. First of all it is extremely loud in here to the point that I was looking at the tables with children at them wondering how parents could feel comfortable subjecting their little ones ear drums to such an assault. While we are on the topic of families I have to say the atmosphere in here is kind of odd with it's mix of beer drinking sports fans and tables with young families. We got an order of nachos as well as an order of wings to split between the two of us. The wings were delicious as they had been cooked and sauced perfectly but I was really disappointed with the nachos. We got them with extra cheese (which costs $3.50 f.y.i) but there were still good sized portions of them with no cheese on them whatsoever. They also had a noticeable lack of veggies with the exception of black olives. Oh man there were just sooooo many olives. I was honestly so disappointed with this $22.50 poorly prepared plate of nachos that I wanted to send them back but we never saw the waitress again after the food had been dropped off until we were done eating. The service here right from the beginning where we had to wait fifteen minutes just to place a drink order straight to the end where we were offered no refills and weren't checked on to see if the food even tasted good was atrocious. I won't spend another dime of my money in this place as there are just so many better options for sit down eating in WEM. read more

You might have learned by now that I'm not a fan of eating in loud places, as I particularly like enjoying my company as well as my food. However, despite its "loud-ness", (which is of course expected for a Sports Bar) 1ST RND, is getting five stars from me! We ate here for the first time last Saturday, and I'm thrilled that the old (Hooters) is gone and the new is here! The menu is typical of pub food - lots of fried items - a long list of burger options - and a gigantic selection of beers on tap. We had a difficult time deciding, as my heart was set on fried pickles and I was eyeing up golf-ball-sized fried macaroni and cheese...in addition to a burger. (Hey, I'm pregnant!) But alas we went for both appetizers and each ordered a burger with fries (or in my case, tater-tots). It was not a "light" meal by any stretch, but unlike the nearby Sherlock Holmes, the food tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection. (Not to mention the bright atmosphere is much better than the "dark creepy basement" feeling of the aforementioned establishment.) I all-but-inhaled the fried pickles. As a southern girl I've had them on numerous occasions but these are honestly the best that I've ever had! Since I didn't do so well with sharing them, I did let my husband have the 3rd of 5 "Golf Balls". However, these two appetizers were so good, I could imagine heading back for them alone! The burger was decent (I went simple - Bacon Cheeseburger without the onions) but by that point I could only eat half. The tater-tots were cooked to perfection and despite being full, I couldn't help eating just a few more out of the giant bucket of them. They were a good reason to indulge in a few hours of shopping afterwards to burn off the calories :) While we don't regularly eat at West Edmonton Mall when we're there, I can see this being a restaurant of choice in the occasion that we do. I decided to try this new pub and burger joint for the first time a few days ago. I was seated right away and a small table on the "Patio" of the restaurant, there is a large separator wall that blocks you off from the rest of the bar area. Some may not like having a large wall but I like that it allowed me to go to a bar for a meal and not have to see or hear the rowdy crowd or the game that was going on, for which I had no interest in to start with. As I took my seat, the table ahead of me was complimenting their waitress on her amazing service, I was happy to find out she would also be my server. She was a very nice waitress but due to the newness of the place it was very slow paced, this I'm sure will sort itself out over the next few months. I ordered a build your own burger with a gluten free bun, from what i gathered there was no paleo bun option (lettuce wrap or make the burger into a salad like Soda Jerks) the burger was a tad overcooked and the bun was very dry. As I have come to find out, gluten free buns at a restaurant are always dry, not the restaurants fault by any means. The topping options where amazing and made the burger enjoyable. As a side I requested to have a split between cactus cut chips and curly fries. The waitress informed me that the kitchen would not split orders and I would have to order both. Hmmm this is a new restaurant and people are going to want to try as many things as they can, consider adding split items or half orders to the options as in the beginning it would help business. I ended up ordering both and very much enjoyed them! just the right amount of crunch and softness combined. The dipping sauce was spicy and exciting. Once i was finished my bill came promptly. I paid, and mentioned that they should also advertise their restaurant with Yelp as I noticed they had an Urban spoon review recommendation on the bill fold. She said she would mention it to her manager as well as the split meal/ half order size idea. Overall it was okay, give it time to work out some kinks but in the meantime stop by for a bite to eat. They are Paleo friendly. with over 40 chicken wing flavours, i will be trying that next time around. read more
