Detroit Tigers
Sowmya M.

Hands down some of the best service I've ever received and such a cozy ambience w an outdoor patio option!! Also located on a very fun busy DC street. As a food creator (@sowmthingsweet), I'm typically more critical of pizza crusts. But i gotta say, I was BLOWN away by this Detroit style dc pizza spot. Each pizza was crafted so beautifully, packed with toppings/cheese and with the perfectly chewy/fluffy & moreish crust (dare I say almost focaccia like??). My all time favorite pizza was the Red Wing, which is full vegetarian too!! Here's everything i tried: Ambassador bridge salad: SUCH A yummy start to the evening. Well dressed and loved the crispy pine nuts. Highly recommend Red Wing: the best one without ANY doubt. Loved the intense tomato sauce flavor paired the dreamy burrata and fresh basil (Tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, parsley, burrata, balsamic vinaigrette, fresh grated parmesan, basil) Detroit tigers: I did no bacon, but this was my second fave. Such a yummy sweet and salty flavor & loved the kick from the Calabrian chili oil (Brick cheese blend, cheddar, barbecue chicken, bacon, pickled onions, calabrian chile aioli, chives) Corktown French onion soup: the most unique pizza I've ever had, and it literally tasted exactly like what I expected!! The French onion soup was very flavorful & the caramelized onion flavor was very pronounced. (Brick cheese blend, caramelized onions, gruyere cheese, chives served with a side of French Onion soup for dipping) Greenfield Village: yet another solid option veggie option. Super loaded w toppings! (Brick cheese blend, ricotta cheese, green peppers, mushrooms, artichokes, spinach, black olives, tomato sauce) Dearborn Heights: perfect for a pesto lover! (Brick cheese blend, roma tomatoes, parmesan cheese, parsley, pesto, fresh basil, pine nuts) Dessert: BIG ASS COOKIE (flavor took me back to my childhood- more on the chewy side), and Valrhona chocolate pudding + Oreos (abs delish)

Garlic bread

Cool place to stop and have a drink and pizza. Awesome service and great food. I got a few beers and IPA and a lager. Then we got a garlic bread and a pizza. Its all done Detroit style with thick crust. We got the redwing with pepperoni. It was great with a great crunch from the crust and a nice sauce. Paired with a rich topping of ricotta. A great experience I will be back. Cool interior and patio.

The OG Pepperoni

This is a pretty cool spot with some nice outdoor seating for when it's warm out. You order up at the counter and they bring it to your table. We got the OG Pepperoni. It was very good, but I personally thought there wasn't enough sauce (probably a Detroit pizza thing, this is my first time). Also, I wasn't a huge fan of how they placed the pepperoni; they stacked like 5 pieces on top of each other throughout, so when you got pepperoni in a bite you got a LOT of pepperoni. They had an interesting drink menu as well. Would like to come back and try some of the drinks and other pizzas!

I love Detroit pizza and I get it every week in Chicago. Happened to wander the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place, which was an immediate YES. Sat outside (really nice outdoor patio with plenty of room and super chill vibes!!) you just walk up to the counter and place your order, and can either keep a tab open or else just pay. Ordered a pepperoni and a side of hot honey and was FLOORED. It was HUGE, and absolutely delicious. My friend got the cheesy bread and omg. The vodka sauce was out of this world. The crust was perfectly crispy and the Wisconsin brick cheese? A YES. Was shocked to find it here Im usually a good eater but couldn't finish this. Top notch leftovers. Excellent service and just a super chill vibe. Would DEFINITELY return!

Gordie Sticks

You don't have to put on the Red Light to go here! In fact, green lights all the way for this place! Decided to trek here in a snowy winter day for some warm 'za and drinks! It was in the single digits outside, so I'm not entirely sure why their outdoor seating was open. I'm knocking this review down 1 star because the cold draft keep invading the warmth and lack of seating on the inside. This was definitely not what I expected. It seemed a bit too cramped for my liking. On to the main part though, the food - We ordered: Boots with the fur: 5/5 This was the perfect drink for the cold weather. It was steaming hot. The choice of glassware was interesting, but the drink was fabulous. The notes of cinnamon, clove and pomegranate combined aromatically for this beverage. Red Wing: 5/5 Another W(ing) for this place! The pizza was rather small, but since it's Detroit style it's quite filling. Although, after 2 slices I was still hungry because it was so good! The burrata combined with the oregano and parsley was such a great touch. The 2 slices of pizza were not satisfying enough so decided to order an app afterwards. Gordie Sticks: 10/5 These cheesy sticks blew my expectations out of the roof. I was fully expecting 4-5 breadsticks with a small sauce, but out came a plate of 12 cheesy sticks with creamy vodka sauce. I could just drink the sauce right up. I was eating these cheesy sticks for days and was extremely sad after they were finished. The pizza at this place is great, but the real star of the show was the Gordie sticks. A must order!

Burrata, Pesto, and Sausage Pizza

Terrible picture but really good detroit-style pizza. The burrata spicy pizza was the hit for us. The ambiance was lively, there was a singles night going on so it was pretty packed. The outdoor seating was a bit chilly even though the heaters were going. The service was super fast though. Overall recommend!

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Easy place for dinner right on 14th.You order at a windy outside and get a number and food is delivered to your table. There is also some seats inside. Got the Dearborn Heights which was crispy and delicious. One pizza serves about 2 people so keep that in mind when ordering. Also has the spinach artichoke dip which came out hot and cheesy! Cool casual place for drinks and food!

Greenfield Village

Really delicious pizza. I was walking past and it smelled so good I turned around and went in. Best decision ever! I got the GreenField pizza. It was so good!! It was actually pretty hefty and the personal took me a couple days to finish! My cousin visited from abroad and we went here for dinner, and she says it was one of the highlights of her trip! So yummy, can't wait to come back to DC for Red Light pizza!

Red Light's pizza is absolutely delicious! I never had Detroit Style Pizza before, so I was eager to dive into their tasty menu items! It's quite spacious and has a good amount of indoor/outdoor seating. My friend and I started off with a citrusy Aperol Spritz that was lightly sweet and refreshing - just how I like it! We were sat inside next to the bar and tried two different pies. We decided on the Red Wing and Motor City. The Red Wing was phenomenal! I loved the generous helpings of parsley, fresh parmesan, and burrata (the star of the show!). The cheeses were so flavorful and packed a punch in each saucy, garlicky bite. The crust is doughy, thick, and cooked to perfection. The balsamic bound each of the cheeses and had a very vibrant taste. One slice was so filling and satisfied my pizza craving! I was so hooked on the Red Wing I didn't make my way over to the Motor City. However, my friend really enjoyed it! Excited to try it and others on my next visit. I would give the pizza and drinks 5 stars, but there were far too many issues with service. Granted we came during the afternoon of St. Patrick's Day weekend. However, it was just far too slow after we had been waiting for 30 minutes or so. It seemed that some people that came after us got their food much quicker. Additionally, we tried using the Yelp Check-In coupon for 20% off that did not indicate a specific date it had to be used, but was told it was only for weekdays. This should definitely be corrected for future use!

We're from MI so we can get "kinda judgy" when it comes to Detroit style pizza. RL delivers a quality pie crust, sauce, cheese, and (most importantly) the crunchy Motown corners. We ordered the OG Pepp and Motown (awesome signature pizza names BTW). The coveted crunch, sweet chunky sauce (fave), and high-end low moisture cheese was all there. Thankful that we can now get Detroit style pizzas in the nation's capital. GooooooLions!

Side salad is yummy!

The cheesy breadsticks are the best thing ever. Fire playlist! Fun bar tenders too! They need to get better ranch though...theirs tastes like dill, not ranch.

The vibes: immaculate The food: best Detroit style pizza in DC The service: top notch The security guy was incredibly friendly from the moment we got there. We sat ourselves in a cute outdoor seating area with long, bar height tables and stools. After ordering, they brought out gorgeous pizzas that tasted as good as they looked. I was so full after finishing my slice with burrata, but it was so good that I was tempted to take a second pizza home for later.

Carry out Box

I am not a huge pizza fan, but my hubby and girls are. Being from the Motor City, we often look for places that give us the Detroit Pizza "fix" and this did it. This is my 2nd time having it and the food is sooo good! I mentioned I don't care for pizza, but I find myself enjoying this pizza more and more. Parking is NOT the greatest which is what's keep us from dining in. We plan on dining in soon, but for now...we will continue to carryout.

We arrived around 2:45 p.m., so it was nice and quiet with plenty of seating. By the time we left around 4:45, the crowd had definitely started rolling in, so if you're looking for a more relaxed vibe, earlier is the move. Since we'd just eaten, we kept it simple with a few rounds of cocktails and an order of chips and guacamole. The guac was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. It tasted like it had just been made, and the chips were the perfect vehicle for it. Now let's talk about these drinks! First, I ordered an espresso martini, and shout out to Lucha Rosa for already making it with tequila because that's exactly how I like mine. No special requests needed! I also tried the Lucha Rosa Margarita, and whew...it was SO bomb. It was as pretty as it was delicious, which is always a win. The service was great from start to finish. There wasn't a hostess at the stand when we walked in, so we grabbed seats at the bar. She greeted us shortly after, and our bartender was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about the cocktail menu. His recommendations did not disappoint. Pricing felt comparable to other rooftop bars in the area, maybe just a touch higher, but nothing unexpected for the location and atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere...the rooftop is gorgeous. The indoor and outdoor spaces are both beautifully designed. It was blazing hot and sunny during our visit, so we happily stayed inside enjoying the air conditioning, but I'd love to come back on a cooler evening to enjoy the outdoor space. Lucha Rosa is definitely worth adding to your happy hour or rooftop rotation. Great cocktails, fresh guac, friendly service, and a beautiful space? That's a solid combo.

I got the Lucha Rosa signature drink and then a Paloma. Both were great, they were strong but the taste of alcohol wasn't unbearable at all. That's the mix I like. The service is good too with the bartenders attending to you pretty regularly. Their food isn't impressive at all though so I'd recommend eating elsewhere after ge a drink in the sun here. We got beef and chicken tacos which weren't great but filled us up since we were starving.

Chowder came out pretty much right on top of my salad, but no big deal. Chowder was decent taste, but only found one clam. Ok whatever. Salad came out looking like a side salad on a large plate with five slices of rare, tough steak. It was so rare, that it was extremely hard to cut through, but again, who was I going to talk to about it. No wait staff would even look my way. I couldn't even get a refill on my water and there is no place in the app to order a glass of water...so that's that. Unfortunately it was just an extremely bad experience for $40. I'll be looking for dinner somewhere else tomorrow night.
