After traveling all day we checked into our hotel down the road from the restaurant and just wanted to enjoy a nice meal before hitting the road again early the next morning. The restaurant said it closes at 10:00 pm we arrived at 8:30 pm. You could clearly see the servers were annoyed that they had to take another table before closing. We went to Red Hook on Friday night not knowing they had a D J and loud music. But the food was very good we had oysters. Only problem, we signed in and the hostess told us about 20 mins. So we patiently waited, saw several people leave. Other people signed in. After 25 minutes we noticed people came in after us were seated. We sat right in the corner in front of her . I was greeted by a very young teenager. She seated me promptly as there were many empty tables. The booth seat was worn out. The restaurant did not appear to be particularly clean. I had been traveling all day and just wanted a cold beer and some food. The waitress took my drink order, spilled my beer as She served it and did not offer any info on the menu. They choices were either copious amounts of steamed seafood or fried. I decided fried would be the safest bet against food poisoning so got the shrimp and oyster combo basket. It wasn't bad. I did hear a woman at the neighboring table mention the excessive saltiness of her seafood boil. If you like fried seafood, this may be the place for you! The fried gator was very nice, crispy breading and tender tasty meat. The shrimp basket was plentiful and seasoned just right. Good sized portions with reasonable prices make this an enjoyable night out. Dining in was not a problem, despite the reduced number of tables to ensure proper social distancing, the wait time was not bad. All staff members are wearing face masks and try to limit interactions with customers but are immediately available as needed. It was average for Cajun dining. The gumbo seemed to be more rice than gumbo. I don't know maybe having gone to Louisiana and eating true Cajun cuisine spoiled me. Recommended by my in-laws and we ordered it for delivery through an app. I ordered the hot make-your-own with the shrimp (heads off) and the scallops. Super flavorful and the heat wasn't bad. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes, and no employees came to our table (Even though several of them including the Manager walked by several times). Also, at least two other tables were seated after us, and got their drinks while we waited for anyone to talk to us. I just picked up dinner for my husband, sister, mother, and myself--among us we had shrimp, lobster, crab legs, and scallops (along with the standard potatoes and corn on the cob). This was an exquisite dinner for my family. We all ate the crab legs are the best any of us have had in a very long time (we'd have to travel to the coast to have anything to compare). It was a lot of food, so don't be deterred by what might look like high prices. This is high quality seafood suitable for family dining. We technically only ordered three meals and we are stuffed, have leftovers for shrimp and grits in the morning, and lobster frittata for lunch. I'm ecstatic this place opened up near my house. Please super them and keep them open. I look forward to having the opportunity to eat inside the restaurant post-quarantine. read more
