It was SO GOOD!  Lauren and Ariana educated me on matcha, we took photos, and it was great to finally meet them! Excellent service! They're providing the best coffee and matcha.  Grandma's Coffee is a mobile truck, but today they were downtown Rideunited Winston-Salem. They are located directly across from Brookstown Inn within a quaint shopping center. They have parking on front and the shop is huge. There is plenty of comfortable seating inside such as couches, bar top tables, counter seating, tabletops & a covered patio. They offer baked goods, pastries, waffles, smoothies, matcha, and coffee/espresso. Ms. Abby & her staff are kind and know the regulars. They roast their coffee beans on site and also sell bags of coffee (beans & ground). They have creative drinks and give back to the community. I met with community leaders regularly at this shop and many had never been before and were happy to revisit. My favorite drinks are anything mocha and they never disappoint. The place looks so modern and sleek and gives chill, cutesy vibes all around. It just so happened to be their grand opening and we showed up literally right when they opened and the owners were SO NICE. They made us feel so welcome and treated us like we were family! As we were looking at the menu, they noticed that I was Filipino and even mentioned some items that weren't on the menu. She asked if I liked Ube (I LOVE UBE) and offered to make me an Ube latte! Not sure if maybe they plan on adding it to their menu or creating a seasonal or limited menu because it definitely wasn't listed, but I'm so glad she did because oh my goodness that might have been the best Ube latte I've ever had. I was asked what I was feeling to experience energetically out of the various programs available and I chose "Release". I didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be quite profound and healing on many levels so I want to share my experience. I was taken to a beautiful dark teal room with Tibetan prayer flags overhead...tranquil and inviting. I put on some padded headphones while the program was being initiated, and made myself comfortable on my back on an ergonomically sculpted bed. Resonant music came through the headphones as the bed began to vibrate and undulate, my back and legs receiving a massage-like experience as my entire body felt the resonance of sound healing. My first impression was feeling I was a garden being tilled...old stagnant energy was being lifted and shaken and I felt a renewed energy pouring through me. In time, I connected my experience with the elements, grounding energy of Earth, sinking and flowing as Water, lifting and moving in spirals as Air, and the warmth and blaze of Fire...as these blended into Spirit I began to journey and fell into what felt like a sleep state. I came out of the sleep state as the resonance shifted, and it gently brought me to stillness over several minutes, softening and slowing until the program ended. I felt refreshed and renewed and was already deciding that "Oh, I have to do this on a regular basis!" And, the fact that there are programs to access many energetic states is so exciting! I left early for work a few weeks ago and did a quick Google search for coffee shops open at 6am…read more Biggby popped up, so I took the exit and went a couple minutes out of my way to check it out. I went inside to see the menu, talk to the barista(s), and figure out what I wanted. It's a cute little shop with colorful cups, shirts, and other things you can purchase with the Biggby logo on it. There isn't a ton of seating, but enough you can sit and rest while you wait on your drink, or chat quickly with a friend. It's definitely not a shop to sit and stay a while. The baristas were so helpful in listening to what I wanted (and knew I liked at other coffee shops) and they rang me up. It was only a minute later and my drink was ready to go! I came back a few times that week and have been by every morning this week. Turns out my favorite drink is called Lissa's Lucious Latte and I prefer mine iced with no whipped cream nor cold foam. They have a rewards card that is free and you can scan it each time or download the app and scan it each visit. It also houses their menu which is extensive. My favorite part is the drive-through. So many smaller-scale coffee shops are walk-in/in-store only, so a drive-through is a huge hit for me being on the go! They also offer daily specials and discounts. Today was Free Shot Friday and being a 2nd Grade teacher and it being the end of the week, I needed all of the caffeine I could get to get my day going!
