These guys took great care of me again and did a fantastic job. Phil at the front desk and the guys in the shop are on top of it and I will not be going any place other than Brothers. And yes, I know quality work when I see it. I spent 10 years at the dealership level in service, so I know. Very humble and trustworthy, a rare commodity in today's world.

On the phone, our mechanic is honestly explaining to a customer that investing money into the repair is not a good mechanical choice. Better that he seek out another vehicle to purchase. Isn't this the type of mechanic one needs to have, instead of not saying anything? Other mechanics would just take the money, do the repair, and the customer would end up paying in the future for additional costly repairs. We're sticking with these mechanics. They did not tell me that the inspection comes with any service, nor did they give me the ability to opt out beforehand on the information sheet I filled out. They tried to charge me 300$ for the oil change because my oil cap was stuck on from my last oil change. They told me my headlights were fine, I have had to get out of my car and push them back in to get them working leaving my job at midnight twice since I've left that shop, which is the issue I wanted fixed. They also quoted me 10k for the other damage to my car, which I was already aware of because I PAID for an inspection with another shop. Now, two weeks later, I'm getting new lights on my dash and my car is running horribly, which never happened after my Walmart oil changes (though they got my cap stuck). Everything about this place is sketchy, they WILL damage your car to get you back in the shop, do not trust this business. I will be taking my car somewhere that has some business standards.

They worked with me to triage the work that needed done to keep it from ballooning out of hand. When they actually got in to do the work, they found out the faulty alternator was the result of a shoddy job done by the previous owner and was going to require them to drop the engine to remove and place new mounting bolts. I panicked. My estimated repair cost had almost tripled. I scrambled to get the money together because I needed my car and approved the repair. Their mechanic decided to take an extra hour and see if there was any way they could get it done without dropping the engine, and miraculously, he was! It cost an extra hour of labor, but I was relieved beyond measure. Throughout this entire rollercoaster ride, Valley Specialists kept me informed, made me feel my business was important to them, did a fantastic job (ahead of schedule!,)and- I can't stress this enough- was honest through and through. I had already approved the additional $2k of work and would never have known it they'd just charged it anyway. Neither I nor my family will take our cars anywhere else any more. The men that were working seemed very well-trained & knowledgable. They gave me a checklist after the inspection and explained everything about the car to me. They treated me with respect and did not talk down to me at all. (I am a 23 year old female buying my first car without help/I have experienced men talk to me like I'm an idiot when going in to auto shops) One employee asked me if I needed a ride anywhere while I was waiting... Another offered me the wifi password to use and a cup of coffee while I waited... And another offered me employee lunch!!... Also my phone was dead so one of them let me borrow their charger! (...which I would've been screwed without since I am from Corvallis & had no idea how to get around Salem) Anyways.. I'd originally taken my car into Point S in Beaverton, and they found a leak that they said was…read more'massive' and they quoted me what I thought was an outrageous amount to fix it. So I decided to go to Certified Automotive Repair for a 2nd opinion. I took my car in, and later that day John called me back and explained that I did indeed have a leak, but it wasn't massive at all - in fact, it was so not massive that he couldn't be 100% where the leak was coming from, so he advised on putting in some dye in various fluids and then drive it around for a few days and bring it back to pinpoint exactly where the leak(s) are. That sounded like a very prudent idea, so a week later I brought it back, and John informed me of the bad news - I had 2 leaks, not one. The good news though was that the total price for everything (the dye, and fixing both leaks) would end up being the same as Point S's quote for just the 1 leak! So I gave the ok, and after leaving my car with them for a day, I picked it up, and everything seems to be as good as new! I most likely will be coming back to Certified Auto Repair for any future issues/maintenance with my car. They've earned a new customer! Also PS: Make sure if you have a AAA membership to show them your card - you'll get a discount!

Very thorough repairs, service advisors are civil and explain things carefully, and they will drive you home and pick you up if you don't have an alternate ride. And for a two-bay shop, they were able to take me in very quickly, and did not keep the truck longer than one overnight. Nowadays, EVERY visit to a shop means a bill in high three figures, if not low four figures, and I have no way to calculate comparative economics. Certified is now my go-to repair shop. Preferred over AJ's and definitely over Power GMC.
