My nightmare started last Fri night (11/12/21) when I stayed overnight in NE Salem at a friend's…read morehouse and woke up to find my 1992 Acura Integra STOLEN. I was in shock of course, having never had a car stolen before. I got a call from Salem police two days later saying they found the car. It was impounded so we drove up on Monday afternoon and went to rescue it. I couldn't believe how the thieves sought to destroy my well-loved classic car. I couldn't start it and there was TONS of mud inside the car, under the hood, the back area under the hatchback was smashed along w/ a taillight. I knew I was going to pay for someone else's crime, which sickened me. The tow company recommended Valley Specialist so I had the car towed there that afternoon. Very nice staff, the young woman who runs the front office was so kind, love the sweet mascot they have (dog). I was fearing a big mess and big bill. The next morning I got a call from the shop and the first step was replacing the starter. I approved it. About 2 hrs later I found a receipt that I bought a new starter from a local shop for a new starter. I called the local shop and they called Valley Specialists and told them it was under warranty. I got a call from VS about 1 pm stating the car was working and that seemed to be the only problem w/ the car-mechanically speaking. The starter was swapped out for free and the bill was just $132 for the labor! I was thrilled! Without a doubt.....Valley Specialists are top notch and honest! I will definitely use them if I need them and I'm in the area! THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO EASE MY PAIN!

I have a 1998 GMC truck, very low mileage, but seals get stiff and piddley problems arise. The…read morereplacement parts industry hasn't been holding the line on quality but Certified's mechanics are good at identifying when a bad part comes in. Very thorough repairs, service advisors are civil and explain things carefully, and they will drive you home and pick you up if you don't have an alternate ride. And for a two-bay shop, they were able to take me in very quickly, and did not keep the truck longer than one overnight. Nowadays, EVERY visit to a shop means a bill in high three figures, if not low four figures, and I have no way to calculate comparative economics. Certified is now my go-to repair shop. Preferred over AJ's and definitely over Power GMC.

I am updating this review to address the owner's response. My original review stated facts directly…read morefrom the invoice, which remains attached for anyone to read. 1. The "Air Box Repair" & Filter Charge: The owner claims the $101 was to "repair damage to the air box." As line item #5 on my receipt clearly shows, I was charged $25.91 for the filter, $26.00 for two metal clips, and $49.50 in labor strictly described as "Remove & Replace Engine Air Filter Element." Snapping on two clips during a routine filter change does not justify $101 total, nor does the receipt list any actual repair labor for the box itself. 2. Inaccurate Claims About My Review: Brake Inspection: The owner accused me of "fraud" regarding an $80 inspection charge. I explicitly acknowledged that "While they didn't charge for the brake inspection itself, the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth." I acknowledge the $0 charge on that specific line item. Caliper vs. Total Brake Cost: The owner claimed I said calipers were $900. I never said that. I stated the total brake repairs came out to over $900--which is accurate, as the front disc brakes ($842.24) and rear drum service ($132.00) totaled $974.24. My review explicitly stated the calipers themselves were "almost $250" ($124.14 x 2 = $248.28), which is accurate to the penny. 3. Unclear Communication on Calipers: Replacing calipers isn't routine maintenance for standard brake wear; it's a major component replacement. Check with any reputable shop and they will agree. Replacing them without clearly explaining why the original calipers had failed--rather than just servicing pads and rotors--lacks basic transparency. Bottom Line: Instead of addressing legitimate concerns over high labor rates ($274 to change a single serpentine belt, $49.50 labor for an air filter element), the owner chose to misquote my original review and throw around baseless accusations. Please ask yourself if being accused of fraud is what you want as a customer before you do business with anyone. Buyer Beware: Take my situation as an example of the response you can expect from this shop if you express honest dissatisfaction. I stand by my experience and my invoice. Please review the attached image of the bill and decide for yourself.

Wow. What a mistake to bring my car here for repair…read more Warning lights came on suddenly in my 2016 Subaru Outback at 144,900 miles; the brake and the "eyesight" warning light. After doing some research I found the Auto Team. They took the car for the day for "diagnostics". They called and informed me that i needed an oil change and a new battery. The quote was for $608.62, which did include a $160.00 charge for the "diagnosis". When asked, John told me that he was about 90% certain that the work would fix the car. I took the car to Capitol Subaru. The problem was in the braking system, and was repaired at the Subaru garage under an extended warrantee replacement. I can only imagine the hundreds of dollars I might have spent at the auto team as they hunted and pecked at different possible repair solutions. I'm not a mechanic, but even I knew that an oil change and a new battery would solve the problems. So I guess I'm reasonably grateful that the Auto Team only took $167.00 of my money, for no apparent reason other that to look the car over. A strong consideration. The Auto Team seems poised to take $160.00 from you to even look at your car and give you an opinion of a solution. And in my experience, their opinion, means squat. Shabby experience. These guys were not friendly, knowledgeable, professional, or helpful IN ANY WAY.

The guys reset the warning lights and replaced my tire with a newer tire. I was out of there in 45 minutes. Typically in my old place of business that I used I was there 3 to 4 hours waiting for similar services. My time is precious just as theirs is. Brandon was polite.
