We walked here Sunday morning around 8 for breakfast. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated immediately. The waitresses were so friendly, and greeted us as if we've visited plenty times before. This was our first visit, so I was surprised how big it was inside. It's also decorated with a hip, farm vibe. We ordered coffee and water as we looked over the menu. There are lots of selections and specials (like cinnamon bun french toast!) that it was hard to decide. I ordered the Athenian Omelet with cracked sunflower bread and my boyfriend had the Huevos Rancheros. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. My omelet was okay, it came with tomatoes and onions that unfortunately seemed to be stewed, a touch of spinach and feta on top. The eggs were dill-seasoned but the omelet didn't have much flavor. The home fries are amazing- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I don't think they were salted, either. The sunflower bread was delicious. Almost like a wheat bread with a hint of sunflower seeds on the crust. I think it's homemade, just like the strawberry jam they served with it. His dish was good- a corn tortilla topped with potatoes,homemade salsa, and some cheese. Our check was only $22 so we were excited. Love this place! Definitely a hot spot for Sunday breakfast but we generally don't wait more than 10 min to be seated. Today I had Lars's omelette and asked for a meat (bacon rather than ham) substitution. The waitress told me substitutions were not a problem but when I got my omelette, there was no meat at all. She brought me a side of bacon instead...yum! The home fries are the best around and the grilled blueberry muffin was delicious! read more

This has become our family's favorite brunch spot, early morning til past lunch, both food and service are excellent. Far better than fast food, and only a slightly pricier. On our most recent visit, they accommodated our family birthday celebration. Our server was terrific in keeping the youngest two children occupied with real coloring books and cups of crayons. The four children's meals were also brought to the table first, and the coffee cups were always cheerfully refilled with excellent coffee. The food was wonderful and they easily handled the special requirements of one guest who was gluten and other foods intolerant. Our server even caught a potential issue and resolved it with our guest satisfactorily. A significantly wide selection of food is offered,from amazing hot cinnamon rolls to stuffed French toast to lunch time favorites of big Dogwood sandwiches and juicy burgers. it was great seeing food requested rare cooked as rare, and an egg garnish that actually had a properly runny yolk. We enjoyed Ray's so much we came back the next day! First I tried their French toast topped with granola. Yum, yum. It seemed to melt in my mouth. My husband, Rich had an omelet that was equally good. The second day I had a egg white omelet. It was light and fluffy and had just enough ingredients to taste just right. Erica was very kind and took good care of us. By the way, it was spotlessly clean. If we lived in the area I know we would be eating at Ray's every week. Tried Ray's again and won't do it again. They got the order wrong again, the eggs were dry and over-cooked, homefries were underdone but black on the outside, I did ask for crispy. It came with the onions, which I asked to omit and no peppers on the homefries, which I did ask for and paid extra for. Great Sunday breakfast. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. I had the California Eggs Benidict with hash browns. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollendaise sauce was great, hash browns were good. My husband had chocolate chip pancakes with home fries. The pancakes were huge and very good. So many good things to say about Rays..in the short time I lived in upstate NY, this was my absolute go-to restaurant for breakfast. The staff was great and we were impressed with how fast the meals were cooked. One menu item you must try during breakfast is their home made bread with home made strawberry jam. SO good! I went there while getting my car serviced and was getting a to go order. The coffee was burnt tasting, I took one sip and left the cup on the table. The waitress came out to let me know I left my coffee but I told her it was burnt tasting with no offering to credit my bill. My avocado/egg toast was a 50/50. We had lunch on a Sunday at Ray's just a few weeks after it opened. One always expects a few "hiccups" when a restaurant is starting out, but none were apparent here! The place was absolutely packed, but our service ran like clockwork. I had expected a typical "family restaurant" menu, but was surprised to find a wide variety of fresh, healthful and relatively upscale options on offer. I had a sandwich (with chicken salad chock-full of celery and grapes and delicious bread that tasted homemade), my husband had a huge burger cooked perfectly to order, and my kids enjoyed pancake-battered bacon strip "dippers." Our server was friendly and attentive with coffee refills and the like despite the large crowd, and we all left full and happy. We'll definitely be back! read more

My first visit here we ate in the restaurant. Our table of 4 had pancakes and various omelets. Probably the fluffiest omelet I've ever had. Everything arrived quickly, was cooked correctly and tasted very delicious. The homemade bread is wonderful and the fresh fruit is such a bonus for me (I love real, fresh fruit at breakfast instead of a chilled syrup-laden fruit cup that most establishments offer). Our second experience was an order for 2 egg sandwiches that we called in to pick up on a weekend. I was very clear that the eggs were to be fried and WELL DONE. Upon opening the sandwich when we got home, we found my husband's egg sandwich was very runny and he will not eat a runny egg. So his sandwich was ruined, but besides that, everything was as good as the first visit. We recommend Ray's! read more

WHAT THE HECK......We went in and grabbed a seat after reading the "seat yourself sign". Then watched as we were completely ignored by the three waitresses working there. The clean up boy was kind enough to get us coffee. Which we drank down while watching others come in,order, and get their food. After 25 minutes and no waitress yet. I lost my appetite. Great service and great food. I've been there for breakfast and lunch, and both were delicious. I would recommend Erica's Omelette. I ordered it because I've never seen an omelette like it at another restaurant. Its filled with things like avocado and black beans... Soooo good! What really sets them apart from other restaurants in Canandaigua, is the service. Down to earth, friendly people. Went to Ray's for Mother's Day. Restaurant was packed and we had to wait in line. A table opened up and as expected the next people in line were sat at the available table. We were told that our wait would be about 15-20 minutes. As we were told, the line stretched all the way out side. About 12-15 minutes later, another table opened up. We were pleased that the hostess was accurate in the approximate wait time. After the table was cleared, the hostess walked past us, and walked outside. She came back with 5 people behind her and sat them down at the table! Totally disregarding everyone in line. Since the restaurant doesn't take reservations, this type of activity is unacceptable. My family and I walked out and will never return. read more

Went there for breakfast on Sunday morning, had a reservation and explained one individual had accessibility needs. Tried to sits us in an area that wasn't accessible finally provided appropriate table. Service started quite cordial but quickly deteriorated. Two of seven meals were brought to the table then 10 minutes later four more meals came and after 5 more minutes waitress came to fill coffee and we inquired when the final meal would come. She explained she forgot it so a few more minutes went by and 7th meal finally came and when it did it was slammed down onto the table and waitress rushed away. 5 minutes later waitress came back slammed the check down and rushed away through the door and slammed it shut. 10 minutes later another person came and inquired how our experience was and we explained the situation. Apparently the waitress is also the owner. Very poor service, the seven of us won't be returning and will spread the word to others as well. read more

Owner/driver acted like she had no idea it was supposed to be there by a certain time and then charged $5.50 for drinks that weren't delivered. Other people were not happy with their salads. I called to talk to the owner and I had to leave a message. No return call and still out the money for drinks. Too bad. Won't be ordering from there again. read more

A cook walked by with the hair down to the shoulders without a cap! Gruesome! Coffee tasted like brown water, spinach and onion in the filling had zero salt and McDonalds makes hash brown potatoes 1000% better (I haven't eaten at a McDonalds in the last 10 years, nor do I intend to) and the waiter was afraid to tell me that didn't have Tabasco sauce. The chef at Ray's can't get it right. We have eaten here 4 separate times and each experience is worse than the last. This past Sunday 6 of us had breakfast there and we vowed to never return. The wait time was unacceptable and we all received our orders at different times (I was finished with mine before my wife got hers). They were out of some of their 'Specials'. Dissapointed x 2. I went here a month ago for breakfast.. Ordered a bagel with egg and cheese which was delicious however they forgot my hash browns.. When I asked about it they said they would be right out. When the hash brows came out they were disgusted. Tasted like old oil.. I decided to give this place another shot on Sunday.. Sat down. The waitress came over to allow us to place our order.. When I went to order the hash browns she said they ran out of them.. I was disappointed and asked her to come back so I could rethink my order. She came back about 5 min later we placed our order which then Another waitress came over a couple minutes saying their kitchen was backed up and it would be at least 25-30 min... I did not have the time to wAit and decided to go someplace else... I get that it was nice of them to pass along the information about the kitchen being backed up but really should you seat people and let them order if you can't handle the business? We decided not to stay yet they still charged me for the drinks we had ordered.. Disappointed in their customer service and don't think I will be returning anytime soon read more
