Ray's is our favorite mom & pop kind of place we like to stop for breakfast whenever we're in town. They had us with the unlimited Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters, and we stayed for the food that made us and our kids very happy. Our oldest devoured a blueberry Mickey Mouse pancake, which was bountiful with the blueberries. Our youngest enjoyed a cinnamon role as big as her face. I had the Rustic Sandwich, was absolutely delicious. My mom and husband had Erica's omelette, with my mom customizing hers with bacon. They both enjoyed homemade jam on their toast. The food was absolutely outstanding and we all left with full, happy bellies. (And we all ate our food before getting pictures--that's how good it was.) The servers were so friendly and made us feel right at home; we never felt rushed, and they kept our coffee mugs full. Sadly I wanted to like Rays. We went for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning. I settled on the 2 eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. Overall just very bland , not crisp, lackluster potatoes. Only white and wheat toast as options. We also got the cinnamon roll waffle special that was a dry Over done waffle with no extra cinnamon or icing. Also, there was no service between ordering and food arriving. I never got a coffee refill which is breakfast 101. Just a very unspecial place read more

went to rays for the first time around noon and i got chocolate chip pancakes and bacon and as i was eating the bacon i saw a long peice of hair on the bacon that was in my mouth i immediately spit it out on a napkin and told the waiter. they did take the bacon off my tab and gave me a gift card which i used to pay for my meal. the place was nice but lots of fruit flys flying around. i will not be coming back. read more

Ray's used to be our go to breakfast joint. The food was delicious & we always left full. I'm not sure what has changed, but the last 3 times we've gone, it hasn't been good at all. During our most recent visit, my husband got the Scott's omelette & they hardly put any sausage gravy on it, it was cold and the hash browns were basically burnt. I got the breakfast quesadilla with home fries. The quesadilla was mostly tortilla with very little filling and the home fries were awful. They were huge, hard and not seasoned at all. We always try to give restaurants a few chances before we stop going, but after 3 bad visits, we won't be going back. read more

We recently held a morning after wedding breakfast at Rays in the back room for 26 people. Rays is a favorite breakfast place of ours so it was an easy choice for us. It was everything we hoped for. On a cold rainy day at 8:30 a.m. we went for breakfast. Maybe the cook was out sick and the standby filled in. The place was almost empty on Friday I ordered a cheese omelette and home fries. I got scrambled egg with a slice of cheese on top with fried potatoes. They used to be potato bell peppers and onions. The sausage was OK but $4 extra for 2. I don't send food back but I will stop going. It's like the Denny's cook moved over to Ray's. I paid $40 that's double for what we got. I have loved this place for a while now. However, I had the absolute best experience here the other day that has compelled me to write a review. My cousin was in town visiting and brought her service puppy in training along. We called ahead to be sure the restaurant would be alright with it. They seemed offended we even asked and said that it wouldn't be the slightest problem. So we came in and we were immediately treated so kindly and warmly. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and personable. She even had someone bring out a special dog bowl for the puppy. The food came out super fast and was excellent. Fairly disappointed in this place. I wanted a good breakfast, so I came on Yelp to look for a place. Found this nearby so I came. I arrived and read the "wait to be seated" sign, so I waited. A waitress walked past me and didn't acknowledge me. I should've known that would be the start to a bad dining experience. After waiting there and about to just go up to someone I finally got asked if I was picking up "to go" which I said no, I'm dining in. I was asked what I wanted to drink and I said orange juice. Then I ordered my food which was French toast + 2 egg meal. The hashbrowns can use some flavor. The French toast weren't that good. But what really shocked me was that I got charged for a "large" orange juice 1st, without asking for that size and 2nd, the actual size of the cup was so small. I asked them to show me what a small looks like then. Which a waitress did, and oh boy I'm not sure if they were playing with me but it is smaller than that. The worst.not much to pick from in the area so ended up here. Paid for it for the next 24hours; so much so that each time my BF and I belched we'd say "F*ck Ray"; it's now our private joke. I ordered the avocado toast with eggs; everything about it was bad! The English muffin was burned, the minimal avocado turned and the tomato mealy, even the egg was undercooked so much so that the yoke tipped off the muffin and unattached from the white; just nasty. I don't remember what my BF ordered, but he also regretted it. And the waitress gave us our bill before the food came...but the place was empty! So what's that saying...don't expect me back! We've been for breakfast here and I hope to return to try lunch at some point. The wait can be a little long on weekend morning but their food is very good and their portions are a pretty good size. I ordered a Denver omelet with hash browns because they come with it it. I don't like hash browns usually but theirs were good enough that I ate about half of them and left the rest just because there was just too much. I also like their assortment of condiments on the table and the fact you can get FLCR coffee for less than $3 with free refills is pretty awesome according to my boyfriend. If I regularly drank coffee I'd find that pretty great as well. read more

Now, let me explain; the Food is a solid 3 star... but, it's a decent location and the service is Amazing! Quick, attentive, friendly.... its all well prepared and for breakfast food its "diner" quality... meaning tasty but not FOODIE worthy. The cinnamon roll was ok.. one split five ways was enough and I LOVE cinnamon rolls. But if I come back to the finger lake area and need breakfast I'd return. Ray's is a quaint little family diner situated on the big Rochester Road (332) between Farmington and Canandaigua. It tends to get fairly busy for weekend mornings, so plan accordingly. We've been here several times, each with varying degrees of excellence. The first time we came it was an off time so it was nice and quiet. We were seated immediately. The server was attentive, friendly, and always had a smile. She kept our glasses full. The food was good. Nothing that is life changing, but nothing bad. It was on the better end of the scale so we were very pleased. The items were not overly salty or greasy. Ingredients looked, felt, and tasted fresh. We were happy with that. A different time we came it was a little busier, probably mid morning on a Saturday, but we were seated immediately. The server was also attentive and friendly that day. The food was ok. I got a sandwich with some sort of broccoli slaw and the slaw was inedible. A ton of watery mayo, very salted. Not really sure what was going on with that. The sandwich was decent, but seemed to be assembled in a hurry. Honestly, not a big thing for me because in the end, it all gets mushed up in my stomach anyway. But probably not the best presentation. Another time we came it was much like the first time: a good solid family restaurant experience that left us full and happy. The portions are what they should be, they're not the ridiculously huge sizes you will find at some places, but Ray's doesn't skimp either. . The prices are fair and appropriate. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would park in the back and go through the back door. However that means you need to walk all the way through the restaurant to get to the hostess tor seating. Parking out front is horrible, Ray's offers a typical line-up of sandwiches.
