My son and I went to breakfast May 5, 2022, he had French Toast, I had a waffle, we each had coffee, and orange juice. Our bill was $43, are kidding me? With tip our outing for breakfast was over $50. We will not be going back! We had not been to the restaurant for 6 months and were really looking for a good breakfast to start our day, the food was ok, nothing special, the booth they sat us at had something sticky on the floor, our shoes were actually sticking to. I would recommend buying your breakfast ingredients at Tops (just down the street) and making your own breakfast. For $50 I could feed my whole family. Out of a five star rating, I would give a 1 star. Don't waste your money going to Ray's, it use to be a favorite breakfast spot for myself and my family, definitely gone downhill in my honest opinion. The California eggs benedict was horrible. The egg was hard boiled with no runny yolk in sight, the avocado was brown, and the hollandaise sauce was slightly brown and flavorless. The coffee was also very weak. On the other hand, the Denver omelet was decent and probably one of the better omelets I've had in a diner. A casual atmosphere, and laid-back Americana environment. You're greeted with a warm welcome as soon as you come in, and the waitress immediately grabs your drink order. I came in for breakfast and was not disappointed. The standard fare is all there...eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc. But the addition of home made bread, local fruits amd nuts is a great touch. Do you want to hate yourself? I mean, really indulge in something so bad, yet so good; try "The Trucker". Love this place. Service was stellar first time and second except that the wait for our check was about ten minutes. I can forgive this because it has so many good points. First visit I ordered a brioche roll with bacon, egg and cheddar. Amazing. Coffee is great and the server says they grind it every morning. This time I got a tuna sandwich, but it was has a but too many herbs for my liking. Perhaps tarragon? The place is friendly, clean and has a nice asking of room. Also, the decor is pretty nice. I love Ray's. I don't come here that often because I live about 40 minutes away, but when I get the chance, this is one of my favorite spots for breakfast. The staff is always super friendly, the food is delicious, and it's very clean. I would say the menu is a step up from your normal diner fare. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because without fail, the wait for food to get to the table is always long. This is not someplace to come if you want a quick meal. While visiting my daughter, we ordered a take out breakfast. We called in the order and confirmed several times as to what we ordered as there are dietary restrictions involved. The items ordered was Rays Athenian omelet. The trucker sandwich and waffles with home fries. Should've been straight forward. When picking up the order I saw the receipt which looked different and questioned the host. He said that is was correct. I showed him my iPhone and said are u sure. He said yes. Brought the food home, opened it up and of course it was wrong. There was no Athenian omelette instead there was an omelet with peppers and onions & greasy cold potatoes and soggy toast. The waffles were soggy and tepid and the sandwich was soggy and cold. Needless to say a Huge disappointment. Not only was the quality appalling but the fact that 3 times it was confirmed as to what was ordered and still it was wrong. The young man who was the host should have caught the error the 2 times he was asked on the phone as well as when I picked it up. I will not be revisiting this establishment as it leaves a lot to be desired. Additionally the fact that the host was unmasked was not acceptable during the pandemic. I highly suggest going to a different establishment for breakfast rather than this higher priced lower quality one. read more

I have enjoyed most of my meals there. A recent visit during COVID restrictions no employees masked. I believe in their right to make that choice but also understand that others have a choice not to patronize their restaurant. I comes across as disrespectful to those (most people there wore masks when entering and leaving) who want to be cautious. Also if they don't feel that a basic step to protect the health of their patrons is worthy, it might cause one to question if there are things we don't see in the kitchen that could create a health risk to patrons. Rays advertises that it's good for groups. Don't believe it. They have a back room where you can have privacy for meetings. We request it for our company breakfasts. We always call ahead to make sure it's available and we book it ahead of time. Today was the third time we had it reserved and they seated us out in the main restaurant for no reason what so ever except that that's where the owner said we were going to sit. They never even had the decency to call us and inform us of the change. Today is the last day Ray's will see our company or employees. We walked out, called the Villager Restaurant down the street. I've visited Ray's several times since they have opened for breakfast and lunch and have come away pleased each time. Much of the food is made from scratch (breakfast hash, sausage gravy, strawberry jelly, homefries), and the house blend coffee is also very good. The Italian Stallion sandwich is so good my son gets it sometimes even when we are there for breakfast. Be prepared - word is out about the good food here and you will likely be waiting for a table if you go during prime weekend hours. One tip about the wonderful homefries - they come seasoned, so adding additional salt to them is a huge mistake. read more

We moved to the area around 5 months ago and have tried several breakfast places. Each of the places we've tried haven't been bad and offer something unique - e.g. charm - with decent food. No complaints. With that said, Ray's knocked it out of the park across the board. The management and staff do a fantastic job keeping things running smoothly w/ a high volume of customers. GO. TO. RAY'S. I saw some comments on Facebook's Canandaigua 2020 group about this spot opening (June 2015), was running some morning errands on a Saturday, and decided to give it a whirl. My fiance and I are always looking for a good breakfast joint for the weekend. Ordering took a while as I couldn't make up my mind. There are the morning standards and then there are some unique combinations as plates or sandwiches, including a turkey and avocado dish - the food offering represents many of the current trends in healthier eating. My fiance settled on the meat omelet with sausage gravy and a side of their hand-pulled corned beef hash. I spied an Italian sandwich on the lunch menu that I couldn't pass up, but asked for home fries (how I judge breakfast joints). We dove into the hash together - we couldn't resist, and it's also another criteria on our personal restaurant rating system. It is well seasoned, clearly NOT from a can, and full of meat. (More meat than potato and that's OK!) The sausage gravy should come in a giant bucket with a ladle to shovel as much in your face as possible in one bite. (Off the hook!) The omelet was super crazy meaty - the big guy rated it "f-in' awesome." And my sandwich.... I expected it to arrive on a sub-style roll, which is a little bit of a turnoff for me as the hard outer crust can be rough on the palate. Oh, how I was pleasantly surprised! The French roll was firm but soft and easy to bite through. The meats were grilled and extra tasty. And there was a perfect balance of lettuce, tomato, meat, bread, and mayo. The home fries were fresh, generous, and crispy - a must! We also sampled an apple crumb muffin. 1) Muffins are BIG. 2) The muffins border on "cake" but with a more dense texture. 3) The muffin was flavorful and had a nice oatmeal in the crumb topping. 4) There was a maple-y glaze drizzled over the top making the whole effect sweet but not too sweet. Score 1 for the muffin! It was funny to get coffee in a large mug with an actual saucer. Nice touch! There are several unusual condiments on the table, giving you plenty of options to refine your meal, if desired. (I didn't need anything but a little salt on the home fries.) The silverware is not the cheap variety you find in other places. The interior is nicely decorated. Staff is friendly. This is a great new place in town that will certainly see us again. Have been wanting to try for a while. Came on a Saturday morning was worried since it was later in the morning it would be packed but got right in. Waited a little for the food but it was worth it! Pretty positive orange juice is fresh. Little pulp but not a lot. I got the 2 egg with meat which I got ham and it was a huge piece of ham steak! Hash browns delicious and so flavorful. Also pretty sure the jelly is homemade. Fiancé got the biscuits and sausage gravy I sampled it and it was amazing. Also had an order of French toast. Also amazing. Will definitely be back. Great atmosphere and the waitress was super friendly. Also looks like they have a back room for small private parties. **Note they are only open for breakfast and lunch. Visited here about a dozen times. There have been visits when the service was excellent - attentive, efficient, and friendly. One relative, a very picky customer with "unending" modifications and special requests, loves Ray's because they accommodate her whims. On my first visit, the restaurant was short staffed by two unrelated emergencies. The waitstaff abandoned customers to a first day busgirl while they held a public complaint session about the work. Arranged a group of 6 for lunch but 2 friends brought an extra. The manager, rather than offering to add the adjoining empty table, expressed annoyance for the now 8. If you have a child in diapers, neither restroom offers a changing table. They offer crayons, coloring books, kids meals, high chairs and booster seats. Most recent visit, the specific Quesadilla I ordered did not list green pepper as an ingredient. Given it was listed in many dishes, I thought I was safe. I became ill. Luckily my allergic reaction is not life threatening. Many of the dishes I have tried have been excellent. When they get it right, it is awesome. Our experience is mixed. read more

Waitress said she forgot to tell us they had no Avocados. $11.00 for no Avocado & no price adjustment. Would've ordered another breakfast if we had known. Ordered Corned Beef Hash. Dish came with no hash but a hunk of semi-shredded corned beef over large pieces of home fries. Ordered coffee, Witches Brew. Waited. Waited. Waited. No Witch's Brew. Ray's is my go-to spot for casual breakfast and lunch. I go to Ray's after church on Sunday and for Saturday morning late breakfast/early lunch. I am blown away every time. Everything about Ray's is excellent- the food, the staff, the cleanliness of the place, everything is on-point. Anything off the menu is delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Last time I was in there I was seated at a table Right in front of the door where people stand and wait to be seated, I literally had someone standing a foot from my table for most of my meal. Horrible table placement, I understand trying to get the most of your real estate but it's not worth the negative experience you give your customers.
