We eat at Rays at least once a week. We are stuck on the spicy chicken, fresh rolls and Chicken Pho. I've also had beef salad, curry, and a few other things. I've never gotten food that was less than delicious. I've eaten in Vietnamese restaurants all over this country, many that cost a great deal more, and never had food as good as Rays. I wish they were open on weekends, but I respect that they value family time. Lovely people, great food, excellent service. Good for take-out or eat in. Highly recommended. read more

The Tuna Salad is AMAZING! Everything tasted extremely fresh. Healthy bright green lettuce, not your typical wilted brown edged salads that you might come across at some establishments in Anchorage. The dressing was delish, another condiment that was obviously made fresh. And then tuna.....perfectly cooked seared tender ahi tuna. I enjoyed every bit and will definitely be eating here again. read more

Overall, I love Ray's (except their new hours). The quality, portions, service and prices are right on. I've tried and liked the beef pho, curry rice, and cold noodle plates (various combinations). Sure, their food is a hybrid of Asian cuisines, but it's pretty tasty, no matter how you classify it. That said, last night's meal was a disappointment. The cold noodles with pork and egg roll were as described on the menu, minus the pork. There were four, count 'em, four pieces of thin, greasy, and overcooked pork in the entire dish. Pig leather, I feel, is best used as a material for handbags, wallets, and footballs, not a noodle dish. There was also a strange pickled leafy veg that was so bitter it unpleasantly distracted from the sweet chili fish sauce on the noodles. I'm a fan, and I will be back, despite the off experience last night. But I'll be watching you, Ray. read more

Oh man was i pleased to finally try this place. I had the beef pho and the combination fried rice. Both exceeded my expectations. Best pho I have tried in the state. Also, had 3 sizes of pho to select from which was really nice. Service was really good. Forgot my rice but had it out in no time. Can't wait to go back. read more

Another great spot for lunch in Spenard. Pho is plentiful. Spring rolls are awesome. Just a good choice when you are nearby.

Flavors are delicious. Super authentic (my dad goes to Vietnam regularly and this is his favorite). Beef Pho is my favorite. Only complaint is sometimes the meat is too fatty, but from my understanding that's what makes it authentic. Definitely recommend! Prices are reasonable and the owners are so friendly. read more

The most amazing duck salad. Duck is super juicy, and the salad is not just your boring lettuce. It has bits of orange peels, onions, carrots, red cabbage, cherry tomatoes, some other stuff. The portion is definitely enough for a lunch meal. Finished every bit of it. read more

unexpected fresh savory and cheep. A must eat if your in the mood for Asian.

this place is my ultimate favorite. the customer service is excellent as well. been going to this place for years now and let me tell you, their curry fried rice is my go to! they offer this option with any of their fried rice selections. this place has never let me down and it is also family owned so it's a great local restaurant for authentic vietnamese food. read more

We came here because of all the good reviews we'd read and left completely disappointed. This was probably the blandest tasting Vietnamese food I've ever had in my life. We had five dishes and they all tasted roughly the same and none were good. The meat quality is poor and this is one of the few restaurants where I was happy when they skimped on the meat in the dishes. This place seemed clean enough, but don't waste your time and money. read more

I love the food here! But... The customer service is kind of awful when trying to dine during lunch. So my suggestion would be to eat here anytime besides lunch or order takeout :) read more

Hand down, best Vietnamese in Alaska. Could go here everyday. The food is fully of flavor and filling. Perfection comes from this kitchen.

I'm not a fan of Vietnamese food so when I go to them with others, I usually get other types of dishes. I first notice the unique take on alot of familiar dishes whether it was a few ingredients and/or dishes that typical asian restaurants don't have in general. I didn't feel adventurous enough to try any of them today but I'll be coming back for sure. I got Beef/Pork/Chicken fried rice which was good considering it was a big proportion with big pieces of meat and then I tried my lady's Duck Curry which was great too. Really good service, good prices for portions and a good variety of dishes. read more

I was in town for business and wanted Pho. I had tried anonther Pho place in Anchorage and it was ok but wanted to try another so Ray's place it was. We have many great Pho places where I come from so I am always on the look out for Pho when I am traveling. I will agree with the other reviews that mention the Pho / broth being watered down and not very tasty. There is limited selection on the meats, and the service was not very good. I don't know how their other dishes are so I cannot coment on those. read more

Every time I have come in here I have had the best service, the people are friendly it's always full during lunch because it's so good, I recommend coming here for a big bowl of soup. read more

In my opinion, Ray's Place serves some of the most delicious food in Anchorage. The flavors of every dish I've had there have been exquisite. On top of this, the service is great as well. read more

Great food and nice family atmosphere. It's amazing how much family they have working in this place. We were in town for a few days and ate here two days in a row. I'm just saying. read more

So flavorful and delicious! Curry squid with brown rice was perfect and my fiancé loved his ginger beef. Huge menu and the food came out quickly. Only complaint is the server was not helpful in deciding between dishes, but I'm guessing that's because they are all good. read more

The Pho broth was watered down and not that tasty. I prefer Pho Lena all the way!

I will make this short. My wife and I are from California, we went to dinner there one night with one other person and the food was fantastic we liked it so much on our last night in Anchorage seven of us went to dinner there and everybody loved what they had read more

Best pho I have ever had (and I had a lot of pho from many different parts of the states). Really good fried rice as well. Super friendly service. Great prices--i don't feel as guilty eating out here so often at Ray's Place as I do at other restaurants. This is my favorite restaurant in Anchorage and I recommend it for a casual but delicious dining experience. Con: Always closed. Do double check the hours and any random holidays before driving over! read more

I used to go to their restaurant when it was Saigon on Tudor. Their food is amazing! The family that owns the restaurant are some of the nicest and friendliest folks in Anchorage. Everything that we've tried is tasty. Highly recommend! read more

This is seriously one of mine and my family's favorite restaurant. The service is good, the food is great and the price is very reasonable. This is a family owned business and they are very friendly. I always get mild tamarind pork. It never fails. If you have a thing about parking, no worries, they have an extra parking lot right behind the gas station. Wait time for food after you order is no morethan 10-15mins. And that's during the busy time! read more

I don't understand the hype over this place. It's dirty and the food was terrible. I ordered the Vietnamese omelet and not only did it take over 45 minutes to arrive, it was burnt and inedible. read more

I'm a big fan of Ray's. Good food, the portions are most generous, and the service is usually great. I like the atmosphere too. A bit of a homey feel to it. My friend Vicki P. did a review and I agree whole heartedly. We are major Pho fans, so if anyone knows who has the best, please let us know. I like Ray's Pho, but I'm always looking. read more

The best in Alaska. Pho combo soup is awesome. Spring rolls are the best & their seafood dishes are amazing. Great family run business. Very friendly staff and nice dining atmosphere. read more

The food here is really great, they home cook everything every day and the food is really cheap! The chicken curry dish is ONLY 7.00$! (compare this to siam cuisine 14$ and thai orchaid 12$)This is a locally family owned restaurant, so the staff is very polite and friendly. They are very very busy every time I dine in, and the hours are a little weird. The food is really good, and even decorative. If you want really good home cooked thai/vietnamese food, dine here! read more

This is one of my favorite place in town when it comes to asian cuisine from fried rice, noodle soup, etc etc...it is the best!

I like Ray's. They provide good quality, flavorful Vietnamese food.

What a great, relaxed friendly place! Great service! The food was amazing! My husband had the spicy lamb and said it was the best lunch he's had in a very long time. I had the pho...delicious broth, tender meats and not too many noodles....perfect! Wish they were open on the weekends. read more

My hubby has been here several times...today was my first. We had the chicken soup, pork satay, spring rolls, and shrimp cold noodles...all the food tasted wonderful and was beautifully served! But another great thing about this place was revealed when my mom fell out of our car in the parking lot...Ray, Linda, Mimi, and others all ran out to help us. And as we got the situation in order, Mimi continued to care for my mom and help us. ...Ray's family treated us like their family and we had an amazing lunch! I'll be back to Ray's any chance I get!! Thank You Ray's!! read more

Not even close to authentic Vietnamese food. Service was fast, food was OK for being its own concoctions. If you're looking for authentic food look else where. read more

Awesome food, awesome service! Meanie W?? You are as dumb as you sound Don't judge just because you got no taste for Asian food... Pork spring rolls on point with peanut sauce! Try the chicken sandwich, awesome.com! read more

Mediocre food, overpriced, and a nice place with certain nice paintings but for lunch it wasn't my cup of tea.

Ordered the fried rice. It was disgusting. It looked like it was cooked with other People's leftovers. Never been back. read more

Visiting Alaska, my brother and nephew just took me here for lunch and it was amazing! Had the spicy tofu w/vegetables and i can't say enough about how good it was! Just spicy enough where you felt it but you also didn't have to drink a bunch of water. Veggies were super fresh! Wish there was one in Spokane. read more

Spicy chicken with cashews is to die for. Beef salad, soups, fresh rolls are awesome, too. I just wish they were open on weekends. (They're closed sat & sun.) read more

This is about as traditional as Taco Bell is to Mexican food. The pho is watered down and very bland with very little meat included. Also, the small Pho is about 1/10 of the size you would find in a more traditional setting. Not sure why this place is so popular..... read more

For a cold day I was looking forward to a nice bowl of delicious pho. The choices for the pho were limited. I didn't find a dish that included my favorite ingredients (tendons, flank and meatballs) however I wouldn't dock a shop for that if the broth was amazing. The broth tasted watered down in comparison to other places. The local that recommended this place doesn't ever order the pho so I'm sure the rest of the menu is very good. read more
