I've purchased flooring from this place twice in the last two months, and I can say with confidence that you should avoid dealing with a guy named JASON at all costs. My first order was for three boxes of floors initially, which - come to find out from my floor installer upon opening - one box was damaged from their fork lift. My installer said it wasn't a big deal, just to take it back to Rayo and they would credit me. Mind you, I had just placed an order for TWENTY more boxes of the same flooring -- so clearly I was not out to scam them. If I could have used that box, we definitely would have. That seems to be pretty common sense, but oh man, you would have thought I was asking Jason to have them give me the Pacific Ocean for free. In a nutshell he completely freaked out on me asking to return the box. First he said "this is not damaaged!" Then that quickly turned out "I don't see why your installer can't just work around the damaged parts." Then from there it went to "Custom orders are final!!!!!!" WHIICH ONE IS IT?!?! Good grief! I explained the situation to him, and he even KNEW that I had just put in an order for twenty more boxes. He still acted like a complete and total jerk. Only when I ran out of the store in tears, did another associate (Mark) call me to let me know he would credit my other order for the 20 boxes to offset the cost of this damaged box. While I appreciate Mark for this gesture, I am disguted by how Jason acted. Definitely should never have this man in sales or any role that involves him interacting with other humans. I own three properties in San Diego -- and will never work with this place again. I'll make sure to spread the good word about Jason's level of service. WOW WOW WOW. read more

I've put in almost every type of flooring: hardwood, LVP, engineered hardwood, tile, waterproof laminate, and most recently high quality wool carpet. Ask for Dallas Martin and you can't go wrong with anything he suggests. He is trustworthy and extremely knowledgable about the extensive variety of manufacturers, the quality of the product, best values, durability, etc. He won't lead you on or mess you around. He will also remember the things you might forget ie: transition molding, underlayment, etc. Pricing is great at Rayo and you can borrow their large samples so you can try them at home. Terrible customer service was charged a 20% restocking fee on unopened boxes when they turn around and sell these boxes to the next guy. Receipt says subject to... Yeah my boxes weren't opened...these guys made an extra $72 off me. Lousy business practices. Manager didn't seem to care either. I sadly would give them zero stars if I could. My husband and I made 4-5 trips to Rayo Wholesale while trying to decide what route to take for our home remodel. We ultimately went over budget to purchase beautiful Engineered Hardwood floors with a distressed look that were a head turner! We expressed our concern about our two dogs and asked if this would be durable for them and we were told that they "absolutely" were durable for pets. I have a 15 pound dog and a 75 pound dog. Not even 2 months after having the floors I noticed that by all our doors where our dogs run in and out there are indents and scratches from their claws. You can also see anywhere in our home if they got excited and left scratches. We tried to file a claim as we have seen these worsen the past few months but we were denied being told that we had "lack of floor protection". Well we went with the Hardwood floors that we were told were durable for our dogs, and we are 100% dissatisfied with our purchase and our Sales associate that blatantly lied to us (or that had no knowledge on the product that he was selling). DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING FLOORS HERE, don't listen to their associates who are just trying to make a sale. If I would have known they would be this destroyed I would have gone for a cheaper route of Laminate and gone to a competitor who was extremely honest about their flooring. We purchased English Pup Maple Stout Engineered Hardwood. As you can see below in my images they have multiple excuses to decline your claim. Such a lousy 35 year warranty, what does it even cover? I walk into Rayo Kearny Mesa wanting to buy new carpet for my place and George walks over the help me. I ask him the prices on several of the carpets and he said he doesn't know any of the prices and he has to look them all up. Im in a bit of a hurry so i tell him instead of looking all of them up lets stick within my budget and see what i can buy. Well he tells me he still doesn't know the pricing of any carpet so he cannot help me find whats within my budget so he tells me to walk around the entire store and pick out what i like so he can look it up. We try to do it his way for about 30 min and were getting nowhere because all the prices on the carpets i chose are above my budget. Finally George gets fed up and yells at me telling me that NO ONE walks into Rayo carpet shopping and people who walk in already know what they want and then he starts to ask me if I'm a contractor and where is my license because people who go there MUST have a contractors license or a contractor with them. He said he's not in the retail business to help people find carpet. His job is to only write the order not to give pricing on each carpet. I was standing there in shock that he blew up at me out of nowhere and was almost in tears. Then a kinda gentleman i believe his name was Mark saw what was going on and i asked if he can help me instead. I told him I'm on a budget and he knew exactly what to show me and the pricing on all of it. Since the moment he helped me it took me literally 5 minutes to pick out what i want! This place is a bit hard to find since the # on the building is a corner away from the store entrance. Don't turn into what appears to be a main lot, keep going until you see a much smaller turn in about 100ft past the # of the address on the building. I purchased my hardwood flooring and supplies directly through them. Technically they are a wholesaler but my handyman recommended i check them out. Overall, I was satisfied with the help I got. I provided a sample piece of hardwood and they were able to find a match of a much higher quality product at a great price. You should only come here if you know exactly what you are looking for! For contractors, they have all the supplies you could need for flooring installation on the floor, just enter the bay door! read more

My wife and I have been looking at various types of wood flooring for several weeks here in San Diego area, and have stopped at several flooring stores (all higher rated on Yelp than Rayo). On the recommendation of our contractor, we stopped in at Rayo in Kearny Mesa and spoke with George. We were looking at acacia floors, and George showed us relevant floor samples and also offered some ideas about other wood types we might consider with related characteristics. We never felt pressured or "sold" on anything -- he just listened and offered suggestions. Additionally, picking flooring has been difficult to say the least. George offered a really simple way to think about selection -- color, pricing & feel. Seems basic, but this was very helpful to us -- he's the first person to help us create a simple framework to use. My wife's comment upon leaving was that we learned more from George in 15 minutes than from all the other visits to other flooring stores. Worst carpet experience ever! I ordered expensive carpet from Rayo for my installer to pickup. We both called to make sure it had arrived at Mira Mar location. When he arrived to pick up it had never been shipped. We had to wait for another available day to install and he had to drive to Santee to get it. Then it wasn't enough carpet for the design the manager at Rayo designed. The installer had to piecemeal the carpet with lots of seams to get it to work. When I called to ask about the shipping mistake and incorrect carpet calculation, the manager absolutely didn't care! I would never recommend this business. I hope I never have a warranty issue as I'm sure they won't take care of me. read more

I recently had the good fortune to learn about Rayo Wholesale from my contractor when selecting new LM Flooring for our first floor living, dining and kitchen area. George Larson with Rayo was awesome to work with and knew the look of flooring I was looking for. He recommended we check out their Santee location that had a large selection, boy were we glad we made the drive. As side note- I would like to add that Rayo is a Wholesale place of business and is not set up for children to run around for safety reasons and would be best left at home when shopping. Why are they still in business? We purchased our engineered wood floor with a 25 year warranty. Within a few months the finish was gone and we had so many scratches on the floor that it looks horrible. We tried to go to the manufacture of the wood, but they had filed bankruptcy. Rayo would not help us and tried to blame us for what cleaning products we had used. We use bona, the product they told us to use. We have this wood product throughout our house. Such a disappointment. Save yourself the heartache and get your wood flooring elsewhere. read more

I have worked with George on several projects recently and in the past. He is always so helpful and professional and is very knowledgeable about flooring. We selected our top 5 choices and we had pricing and was able to place our order and out the door within 15 minutes. It sounds like some other customers who have made recent reviews do not understand that this is not a retail warehouse. Although contractors can send their clients in to make their selection most customer's already at least have an idea of what they want which makes the transaction go much quicker. I cannot imagine that anyone would be able to know the pricing of all the products and styles that are available and having to look up more than 5 choices can take time because there are so many brands and styles to select from. My suggestion to customers that are planning on going in to their warehouse is to at least have an idea of what style you want and plan on spending at least 30 minutes in there in case you are not the only customer there at that time. And make sure you ask for George because he is the best! read more

This place used to be good under John's management. The new manager does a terrible job. They completely botched a recent order and showed no remorse for it. When it came time to purchase carpet he was more than accommodating but when it comes to actually fulfilling the order it is an absolutely disaster. Last year I bought some vinyl flooring... I asked & was told it was 12 ft wide, so I ordered accordingly. However, when it came in, they realized it was 6 ft wide, so they called me & offered to double my order... So now I "get to" have a seam down the middle, & PAY twice as much. So this year, I need the same kind of vinyl- (I KNOW it comes 6 ft Wide.) & called to place an order. @ the point where I expected to give my credit card #, he said he would e-mail me a "form." That was 2 weeks ago- It hasn't yet come. So I called again today. They don't yet have my Credit card #, & I'm Waiting for them to call me back. It's Friday, & they'll CLOSE in 1/2 an hour...
