Very rude people and like pulling teeth to get questions answered. Does not understand the value o customer service.

Here is a group that will do anything to avoid a return of surplus tiles that were purchased for a remodel. As with any remodel, it is not unusual to end up with an extra box of tiles. However, Emser will not accept them. When we contacted them they replied that the box couldn't be opened. When we said that it hadn't, then the other rejection would be if the box was blemished. You see where this is going. To add "salt to the wound" it became apparent from out tile installer that the tiles Emser sold were inferior and had excess arching toward the middle of each tile. Thus, the quality was substandard for normal installations. Along with the lack of quality came nothing but unwarranted rudeness from anyone we spoke with before and after our purchase. With so many other tile sources, there is simply no reason to deal with these monkeys. read more

We went to Emser tile needing pool replacement tiles. The person we conversed with was very knowledgeable and gave us some tile ideas and approximate prices and delivery dates to the Emser Tile Store. He noted that we were not matching the tile correctly!!! That would have been a disaster! I wanted to give a good review and let him know the reason we did not come back. Guess what, folks? Nothing's changed. We were looking for bathroom treatments including a large walk-in shower stall and pan, vanity counter and bathroom floor. We were NOT greeted (or acknowledged at all) and while we spent a good 15 minutes exploring the showroom no one approached us with guidance or assistance. We finally left and while I was tempted to speak to the gentleman behind the counter I decided that a Yelp review would be more helpful. This kind of non-customer service is inexcusable and if it is typical most unfortunate. Wish our visit had been more fruitful. read more

I just went to buy all my tiles for my remodeling and had the best experience with Taylor . He was so helpful, knowledgeable and took the time to show me all the products that I was I interested in . Even though he didn't have a sample of one tile we liked he let us go home with the floor model for a day so we could decide--very professional and helped us decide that that was what we wanted to purchase for our new kitchen. read more

Popped in to Emser to check out options on bathroom shower tile and saw some wonderful options on display. They weren't quite what we were seeking, but after asking the very thoughtful and helpful CSR Vanessa a few questions, we stumbled on some surplus tile leftover from a big custom order that was pretty much what we looking for. I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Christina Loveall who took great care of us - I wish I knew the two guys names that were there too, everybody there was awesome and made me laugh, hard :^D. Good selection, but terrible service. The lady at the front desk was rude. I didn't get her name however. She started helping me with selections and then in the middle of doing so, she walked away saying she had to finish up something and would be right back with me. An hour later she has still not returned. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Horrible customer service. Yesterday my husband and I visited 3 different tile stores on Miramar road. This by far had the worst customer service. We walked in and did not get a single greeting nor did anyone on staff even look up. We were looking around for a good 20-30 minutes and no one checked to see if we needed help. Yes, we could have asked for help if we needed but staff should make some kind of contact with people entering the showroom. The selection itself is decent the showroom is pretty small compared to others close by. It's really not thing special and not worth the trip. Unfortunately for me of the 3 we visited they were the store that had the closest thing to what I was looking for so I called this morning to see if they had the tile in stock. Problem was I didn't have the name but could describe its exact location on the floor, the display it was part of, and its dimensions and color. The woman on the phone (I think her name was Joyce or something) was so rude and impatient right out of the gate. I started to describe where the tile was but I guess she preferred I describe the actual tile itself. She snapped at me, "we have a lot of tile you're going to have to be more specific". I hadn't even finished my sentence before she said that. So I shifted my approach and started describing the tile I got 3 words out and then she cut me off and said she didn't think they had a tile called that and immediately put me on hold without even telling me she was going to. She comes back and says yeah we don't have anything called that. So finally I got the opportunity to tell her that wasn't the name that was my description of the color. Once she stopped cutting me off we were able to identify it but it wasn't in stock at that location. I hung up. Dumb. read more

I really hate giving one star and then writing about how I felt slighted somehow and that writing a review will make everything better, but I really have no choice here. Went into Emser on a Saturday in April. The staff were busy, but it was obvious they were trying to help out as much/often as they could. I was appreciative of their efforts, as I left with some good ideas and a couple of complimentary samples! After a couple of phone calls with them to verify product availability, finally decided on what we were going to use. I notified my contractor, and he made a few purchases. (The scope of the project grew in size, so more tile was needed.) Fast forward a few months, and the project is done and my contractor has been paid in full for time and materials, and is long gone. I'm cleaning up my garage and I notice an unopened case of tile. So I call up Emser and ask if I can return it. The salesman I talk with simply verifies it's a stock item, and tells me I'm good to go - he doesn't ask me any other questions. I get into the store and Chris Keller the "Operations Manager" attempts to assist me. This where the one-star rating comes in. 1. He tells me that the purchase was more than 30 days ago, but I'm being done a favor by them accepting my return. Note that I'm returning a single unopened case - not a pallet load or anything. If time was an issue, why wasn't I asked about it when I called to see if I could return it. 2. Since my contractor made the original purchase, all Chris Keller the "Operations Manager" is able to do is to give an unknown credit to my contractor. Due to contractors getting special pricing, he's not able to tell me the refund amount. So now I have to contact my contractor and ask for them to mail me a check for an unknown amount because I returned some tile to Emser - does that make sense to anyone?! 3. I tell Chris Keller the "Operations Manager" that this resolution of his does not make me happy and I'm giving him a chance to correct it before I leave. He chooses to do nothing. wow, I should have read Tameeko C's yelp review because that is EXACTLY what happened to me today when I went into Emser Tile on Miramar Rd. Several people were gathered around a desk, visiting and laughing, which is fine. But I was in the store for over 15 minutes and never once approached or offered service or directions. But, I did find my way out the door. I guess this store is so profitable they don't need my business. Sad in these hard economic times that a business would allow their representatives to behave so poorly. read more

No. Just no. I'm a design professional and expect the same level of professionalism from my suppliers. The most difficult team to work with. I order tile and five weeks later I called to see what happened. I had to cancel the order and reselect with another company. The funny thing is another professional and told me not to use them because they had a bad experience. I hate when other people are right. Thanks Emser San Marcos and Emser Spokane. Not help AT ALL. We just walked in there. There were three people behind the counter. One was helping a customer, the other two did not even acknowledge us. No greeting. They didn't even ask if we needed help nor did the offer to answer any questions. We spent 30 mins in the store. We were the only customers in the showroom. It's really too bad because we are doing a major remodel and have the money on hand to secure the materials. Their loss. Gosh, this place! First of all, it took forever for them to get our tile in so that kept our project on hold. Then when we had a couple of boxes of tile left, I took it in to return. They say they will happily accept returns, with a 25% restocking fee. Well, okay, lame, but I still accepted it. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the guy who served me. I went up to the counter and he was on his computer. No acknowledgment for like, 2 minutes. When he finally did acknowledge me, he didn't even look at me. He took the tile back and told me they would process the refund. After 2 weeks, I noticed the money was not back in my bank account, so we contacted them. They claimed it was because we used a checking account. I'm sorry, so we gave you cash and then you can't refund us why exactly? Step forward another two weeks, still no refund, even though they took the tile back. Oh, and maybe someone needs to tell them that wearing a mask on their chins isn't the purpose of the masks. read more

Barely a glance from the blonde lady at the counter as I walk in. I look around. Finally she says, "we don't have the staffing to help you. Make an appointment. Here is a book to look through." Not a word toward me as I later walk out. With so many choices, on Miramar rd. alone, why would anyone buy here? They don't look to have a great selection anyway. Went to Bedrosian a few blocks away and got customer service. Went to Arizona Tile and got more customer service. Better selection at both. read more

We came here for our bathroom tiles and came back to get more tiles for another project. The guys here are very helpful and the prices are good for the quality tile you get. I have always received prompt service and they will go out of the way to make sure you are satisfied. I would def recommend! read more

I've been in this store on many occasions looking for tile for my home remodel. The staff was very helpful each time, once you're able to get someone who's not busy. It's a small store but they're always on the phone or with another customer. I did purchase my tile here and I'm very happy with the tile. I would just recommend that you plan accordingly and do not expect to get in and out too quickly. read more

Dylan, Chad and Kelley made my order happen on a Friday afternoon, priced it, ordered it and we had it on Monday!! Dylan even pulled a reselection on a tile that I wanted that was discontinued and it was 1/2 the price! Met with my client and helped her see the samples and gave her confidence about the selections. Today we came to pick up the tiles and we were told the order got cancelled. We asked why but no one at the store had an answer for us. We ordered the tiles a month ago and since the master bathroom was not ready to install the tiles so we asked Emser to hold it for us, they said no problem. Today the bathroom is ready to install the tiles and there was no tiles for us. Very bad business. Watch out people. read more

Just need to give credit where credit is due. The manager Chad handled an incredibly frustrating situation by "doing the right thing" and making sure everything was taken care of properly. Renovation projects always seem to go wrong, and it's always a test of peoples ethics in how they respond to it. Chad did some things that cost his company thousands of dollars just to make things right for me as the customer. And you simply can't find that in most industries. I found tile at my local lowes which I loved. There was only 1 box and I needed more but lowes said it was a special order and they couldn't get anymore in. Whatever. Turns out emser tile makes it and had a location near me. Their prices were also better. I read some of the reviews before going here. They weren't great but... to my surprise... they were so amazing! Way better experience than lowes. Mark helped us order and followed through with everything. The worst service ever. The four employees behind the counter didn't even acknowledge any customers in the store. After 10 minutes of waiting for help, I decided to leave. It's unfortunate because they had some nice looking tile. Had a great experience with emser tile. First time in, Marcus helped us and walked us through the whole store to give us guidance for our bathroom project. They have a great selection and after 6 months of searching, we found a tile that suited our taste for a price unbeatable by anything else we had seen. They have an amazing selection for whatever your style is. So now that we have our tile, we begin our installation and wind up being two tiles shy. We call fully expecting to have place another order, but hoping they have some extra lying around. They don't, but the associate calls the San Marcos location for us and they have two tiles. We go to pick them up first thing, wallet ready, and the associate hands them to us and says have a nice day, you're all set. Completely made our day! Such great customer service! Emser will be my choice for all my tile needs. read more

Be careful to this shop as their price is always higher than other shops we can find. The materials/look are the same or very similar but their selling price is like 20% higher than others. In addition, they charge you energy surcharge of few % which we don't understand why there are still charges like this when gas price is lower than $2.8 even in CA. This is the hidden fee and you will know at the end when you need to make payments. read more

great tile place for the little guy trying to remodel their fixer upper home. they have a nice selection and prices are decent. the staff are helpful and even though sometimes it get very busy they manage to get to everyone. i tried other tile shops during my second phase of remodelling, they all sucked and were rude because i wasn't some big contractor doing some huge project in an office building. glad i came back here. i probably won't be looking for new tile shops again. read more

Last week I went to Emser for probably the 4th time to purchase materials for my mosaic business. I typically buy a product called Wedi board, which is rather expensive, but Emser is the ONLY place I have found it in San Diego. When I asked for the product, one of the sales reps named Chris asked me a bit about my project needs and kindly suggested I try a new product they carried called DUROCK. He went on to say it's lighter, more durable and a good deal less expensive than the product I had been using. Now I'm not a big spender, and I don't come to Emser every week for supplies, but he went out of his way to explain how the product is made, and even provided me with a few samples to share with my fellow mosaic artist friends to enlighten them about this newer option. (Which I already did, and one is planning to purchase DUROCK at their San Marcos store.) In my circle, that's great customer service.
