They have a huge selection of countertops, flooring, backsplash, and more--plenty of options and excellent layout. What really stood out was the zero-pressure environment. This review is for my experience browsing but I have not yet purchased (although I am planning to buy MSI products through a local retailer who uses MSI helps with install). I really am only open to tile at the moment and MSI has the best variety and the prices were half of what other stores were charging. They have an employee check on you periodically but they aren't pushy or rush you, they offer ideas when you need it and they get you samples which is a huge bonus. Parking is tough; the spots are thin and people park super crooked to try and get more space but it just creates a mess. Other than that I'm hoping to close the deal on floors and purchase here. read more

We stopped into this store looking for terrazzo tile. The woman at the counter told us they don't carry it, which was fine -- it was clear this wasn't a high‑end tile retailer. Since we're considering retiling a bathroom, we figured we'd still take a look around. Before we could browse, she insisted we "sign in" for "security" so they could collect all of our information. That immediately raised red flags. Why would a tile store need personal data just to let customers walk the showroom? What exactly are they doing with it -- running checks, storing it, selling it for marketing? At that point, we turned around and left. We bought quartz for a large project in our home, including kitchen counter, hall counter and laundry room counter. We had discoloration with one of the slabs in the kitchen and we had to "fight" with them to get a new slab. The new slab had the same problem. After numerous phone calls, we finally had someone out who said they took a course in how to repair the slab. He was there hours, with at least 15 different bottles of solutions, and it was the same when he left as when he arrived. We finally gave up, and I finally used acetone to take off the top layer of finish, and then polished it. That worked! Several years later, my husband and I were sitting in the family room and heard a loud noise. When we went into the kitchen, there was a crack in the quartz. So, armed with my "Lifetime Warranty" I called MSI to get a replacement. They refused. They said it was installed incorrectly (without coming out to inspect). The warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on. We are now going to replace all the counters in the kitchen rather than deal with MSI. I called the manufacturer, and they told me MSI was the only company that sells this particular quartz design. My recommendation is to avoid MSI at all costs. read more

We are in the middle of a backyard upgrade. I am a little OCD plus anxiety and that's not a great combination when picking tile! I started at MSI first (rec from my contractor) but then went to 5 other tile places in search of my holy grail. I spent every day for a week with a headache. Today I decided to go back to MSI and was greeted by Carlos Lares who literally stayed with me the entire time, listened to my concerns, looked at my pictures (plus my neighbor's yard) and then proceeded to guide me through picking and coordinating literally EVERYTHING. He showed me stuff in the back (I didn't even know there was a back!!!) searched high and low for samples, made sure we exhausted every single idea, and then ordered even more samples to be delivered to my house. I left there with SUCH RELIEF! And the first day I don't have a migraine since this project started. Carlos spent an hour with me and it was the best hour ever because he helped me pick choices I hadn't even considered or known about. When I got back home and showed my contractor, he was actually so impressed with the choices and coordination. Everything was unique yet so cohesive. I now can't wait for this project to be finished and will 100% ONLY work with Carlos for future projects (next up, a bathroom renovation). So very grateful for incredible customer service and knowledge. And someone later told me that Carlos was new and I would never have guessed. Very poor business practices and customer service. I do not recommend. Sales people only get interested in you when it is time to pay or to fend off a return. And no credit cards without paying a fee to use one. Will not accept returns after 30 days and even when they do accept a return there is a restocking fee. So a totally unfriendly customer environment. And on top of this they say you must be with a contractor when you are in there. I have very strong suspicions that there is a kickback to contractors who bring customers in there. Yes a nice selection of stuff but I am not sure it is a particular bargain compared to others. If Home Depot operated like this they would go out of business. Tried to return less than $100 of products that were excess to our remodeling project that was completed in Dec-Jan. All products were in unopened boxes and completely in good shape. Just excess to our project. Would not accept a return, even though it is not realistic to complete a remodeling project over the holidays in 30 days. I returned approximately $250 dollars worth of supplies bought at Floor and Decor at the same time without them batting an eyelash. So MSI bad, Floor and Decor good. Because of this experience I would tell you don't go in there and don't let a contractor drag you in there. Very consumer unfriendly. read more

All I can say is Destiny is amazing! We went in not sure exactly which piece of our slab we wanted to use and she got right to work. Not only does she have great eye but she knew exactly how to gently nudge us in the right direction without being pushy. She also recognized our needs when we were contemplating wether or not to use backlighting. So she set up a whole lighting area so that we could see what the back light was going to look like. She moved slabs around like it was no big deal. Well we fell in love with it. She went above and beyond what was required and it made all of the difference. Shadia Sanchez, who helped us navigate the extensive "slab yard," was a delight. after much teeth-gnashing, some hair-pulling, and several threats of physical violence, we "agreed" on Platinum Blue Quartzite. ridiculously expensive, but stunningly beautiful with a wave effect that's perfect for a bathroom. particularly like the arced, white inclusions that look like dolphins. can't wait until Joe Martin and the fine folks at Mastercraft finish the remodel. read more

Avoid. The experience was a symphony of chaos, conducted by the untrained, played on instruments of miscommunication, set to a tempo of ineptitude. You will be left waiting (4 hours, baby crying in stroller). You will make an appointment (and show up on time), but you will not be given attention (30 minutes later, who is helping me?). They will overpromise (53 slabs of your selected model waiting here for you!), but they will under deliver (actually, there's only 4 slabs of the kind, and 2 are sold). They will give you hope (we're unloading a truck now!) and they will break you quietly (sorry it's just taking longer for some reason). Then they will crush you (there's nothing on the truck that you). Your rep will take his lunch (1 hour) and be surprised that you're still there when he returns... Do not wade into this swamp of frustration. I would rather take a number at the DMV on a Monday than find myself within a 9-iron of this parking lot ever again. read more

Came here looking for kitchen counter slabs. They have a nice showroom, plus a good selection of slabs in their indoor slab yard. But, as far as working with them, it was sort of a pain: 1) you need to register your name and contact info at the front desk before they will let you in the door. 2) although they will give you retail pricing, they will not give you a clue of what their contractor pricing is; to get this one has to bring their contactor with them (I asked if my contractor could just call in and give a verbal to pass through his savings to us, and they said no: all pricing is between them and the contractor and the contractor has to pay for the slab and we would have to then reimburse the contractor). 3) we found the slab we thought we wanted to purchase (Calacatta Miraggio Gold Quartz) , but we asked them to remove the plastic covering so that we could see the whole slab in its natural form before committing to it; they're answer was "No"; they said they have too much dust in their warehouse that would work its way into the slab (it sure didn't seem very dusty to us). In the end, we drove up to Granix in San Marcos and purchased the Calacatta Miraggio Gold Quartz from them since they allowed us to see the slab with the plastic removed, and Granix displays their discounted pricing up front on all quartz products (so no need to involve our contractor or guess at a net contractor price). IMHO, I'd definitely recommend Granix to MSI. read more

I'm not sure what change happened here but it's not good. Everything from walking in the door- you have to check in using a QR code. No one helps you, you are walking around aimlessly. Employees are arguing amongst themselves. Customers walking out due to no one assisting. No one can take our order. Finally put in an order, with a disgruntled employee who told us all the issues at MSI. Paid and then chased down for our phone number that's been given 3x. What a cluster! read more

MSI will not sell to you unless you're a licensed contractor. I only found this out on my second trip down there from north county, after having spoken to reps three times and after having wasted hours of travel time. I'm not sure the rationale for this, or why they are even listed on Yelp at all since effectively speaking they are not actually open to the general public. I also don't know why they aren't more clear about this on their Yelp listing. So, deduction of points for being misleading. I also think it's a silly policy... why on earth would they refuse a sale? I, like 99% of the world, am using a licensed contractor who told me I need to buy the materials myself for the project. Unfortunately, MSI refused to sell to me even after I explained this. I even offered to give them his contact information to confirm I'm working with a licensed contractor on this project. They offer a large selection of tiles and "ceramic slabs." When their rep was showing me the options (on my first visit), I was steered away from my stated preference and toward the direction of these giant slabs. I found out, after probing, that they are basically all plain ceramic with designs *printed* on them to make them look like other materials. It was presented to me as being the most popular choice right now, and that all the high end homes were putting them in. I did feel like it was a bit too pushy on the sales side. Their selection really is quite good. That's the nicest thing about MSI - and what drew me to them in the first place. Also, their show room is large, well-lit, and pretty. All of which would have been quite nice ... if they actually would have sold me any products. read more

My experience with MSI is not very good, like other reviews mentioned, they DO NOT sell to home owners. So things get more complicated from here. After checked out the show room, I went to a store nearby to ask about the tiles that I liked. The tile store asked me for my phone number and promised to give me a call after they get the price from MSI. Later the tile store called me and told me a price based on per sq ft. Do you see how many extra steps that I have to do here? When I made the order, I told the tile store that I need 13 sq ft tiles total. And they ended up ordered me 13 boxes, no returnable. This is the issue that I need to solve with the tile store. If I was the tile store, I would ask MSI: "How much is per sq ft; how many tiles come within per box; how much is per box?" Because MSI does not sell to home owners, I had to take extra steps to purchase the tiles and things went wrong. The tile store made a mistake, but MSI didn't make it easy for any of us by giving the quote base on sq ft. And not mentioned that the shipment was delayed. read more

You can only purchase from here if you're working with a general contractor, but so worth it if you have this option to shop here. They have such a wide selection of different materials and I was able to pick out everything for 3 bathrooms and a kitchen remodel. The prices I would argue are even cheaper than going to Home Depot or a big box store to purchase myself. You do have to pay for freight delivery ($200 flat fee) but the contractor discount prices make it a way better deal in the long run. So far we've only finished the guest bathrooms and are close to finishing the primary bath and kitchen, but so far looking better than I imagined. Will update when the rest of the project is done. A few gotchas to watch out for: you have to really trust that your contractor is measuring things properly because MSI does NOT allow returns or exchanges once an item is delivered. I believe they may have exceptions for very unique cases but there is a restocking fee; I wouldn't count on it though. My contractor was very diligent and inspected the tiles when they delivered and did find a box of cracked tile, which MSI did honor and provide us a refund for. But if you're planning to return or exchange because you got extra at the end of a job, don't like the style anymore, or got the wrong tiles for some reason, you are out of luck. An exception is made for slabs that haven't been picked up from the warehouse yet; these they allow you to exchange or return since they're still in MSI's possession. Do bear in mind if you return a slab you should not expect to get it back if you change your mind; once it's released it's game for anyone to snatch it up and you might be out of luck for months so make that choice carefully. Overall love this place, great selections and prices. read more
