I had an outstanding experience with Metro Flooring in San Diego. From the very beginning, Cynthia was incredible to work with. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, caring, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. What really impressed me was her dedication to customer service. Even after my flooring was installed and the project was complete, she followed up with me about a month later, and then again six months later, just to make sure everything was still perfect. That level of care is rare to find. The entire team was professional, and the manager was excellent as well. Everyone treated me with respect and made sure I was completely satisfied. I was also impressed by their wide selection of flooring colors. I was trying to match the existing wood work in my home, which wasn't an easy task, but they made it happen perfectly. I highly recommend Metro Flooring to anyone looking for quality flooring and exceptional customer service. Cynthia went above and beyond, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. read more

from start to finish-quality product, quality staff, quality service. we found them after a bunch of frustrating visits on Miramar road to tile floor dealers. They welcomed us, actually gave us a hug when they could see our frustration and guided us through the very confusing renovation process. We bought all our floors and bathroom tiles from them. They even were able to get us a special tile we wanted they didn't have in the store but they had a relationship with a vendor who got us a discount. Our home looks beautiful because of them and we felt like they were partners in the process. Huge shout out to Cynthia whose keen design eye helped us pick everything out. Mike the owner who was so kind with our endless questions and sample pick ups. Micky is accounting and Harold in warehouse were amazing. From sales to operation, it was perfect . read more

We had a great experience working with Cynthia at Metro Flooring. From the start, she made us feel comfortable, sat down with us, and really helped guide us through the process since we didn't know exactly what we were looking for. She showed us many samples, helped us narrow our choices, and even came to our home to show the top options in the actual rooms, which was incredibly helpful. She measured the rooms, provided a quote quickly, and was very flexible with our install date. The installers were professional, fast, and did excellent work. After installation, Cynthia even came by to make sure we were happy with the results. We absolutely love our new carpet and would highly recommend Metro Flooring to anyone looking for carpet or flooring. read more

Response to the owner's comments - I reviewed the owner's comments in response to my review. Be assured that I was a genuine customer. My sparse activity on Yelp! should not be confused with nefarious motives; it reflects how truly uncomfortable the salesperson made us feel. The behavior of the salesperson was not good customer service and not helpful, especially after I said that we were just looking. And the comment by the male salesperson as I was walking out the door was not in the least professional. read more

I have now worked with Metro Flooring on two whole-home wood floor installations, and confidently give them 5 Stars for selection, pricing, and installation. Metro's installation teams are true craftsmen and it is clear they take prode in their work and the finished outcome. Cynthia gets highest marks for her professionalism, service, and follow-through. She visited my home on several occassions to ensure that measurements and implementation went well, she takes an active interest in the wellbeing of her clients. Cynthia and Metro are now my go-to for hardwood flooring, tile, and other home improvement needs. read more

Metro Flooring is a friendly, professional, easy to work with company. A few years ago we had rugs torn out and put hard wood in our stairwell, hallway, den and primary bedroom. Metro made selecting the wood, rug removal and hardwood installation go smooth and easy and the wood floors look beautiful. Then a couple months ago we needed new wall to wall rugs in 4 bedrooms and I requested pricing at Home Depot where the prices were outrageous. I remembered how great Metro was and went straight to the shop. I got wonderful, friendly rug selection guidance, much better pricing, gorgeous rugs and an easy installation. Shame on me for bothering with HD, I highly recommend Metro Flooring and appreciate all of the helpful, kind people who work there. read more

We got a recommendation from a friend whose whole family had done business with Metro & who were all happy. After explaining to Cynthia at the store what type of carpeting we were seeking, she helped us to find samples that fit our expectations. She brought the samples to our home, did the measurements & gave us a timeline for installation. The installer came on the appointed day & got the work done almost to the minute he said it would take. The carpets look & feel terrific. (Even the padding is great.) We are completely satisfied & are now looking forward to receiving some extra area rugs that we ordered. Thank you to Cynthia & Frank!! read more

Back in July, we were close to pulling the trigger on some laminate wood flooring from Lowes but we're glad we stopped by Metro to explore our options. Cynthia was friendly and wonderful to work with and showed us a range of possibilities within our budget. We found a far superior product that we didn't feel like we had "settled" with. Seven months later and our home was hit by flooding in the big storms in January. All the flooring we had JUST put in ourselves had to come up and be replaced. Cynthia and the folks at Metro were so responsive and even helped work out a deal that helped soften the blow. We went with their pro installation team the second time around and they were awesome. We told them what we wanted and they got it done. That simple. We'll be recommending Metro to friends and family for quite some time. read more

We recently had our upstairs re-carpeted by Metro Flooring. The experience was seamless and very gratifying, starting with Cynthia, whose knowledge of carpets (and infinite patience) was amazing, right up to the installers, Willy and Ernesto, who were tireless and highly skilled. Purchased new wood flooring w/ Metro Flooring. After shopping around from other flooring companies to the DIY/ home improvement stores, I found this store. I walked into the store and met THE best sales person - Carey. She stood out among her competitors. First of all, she greeted me at the door (sounds easy enough but it didn't happen w/ other stores). Then, she asked qualifying questions to understand my specific needs. We reviewed a lot information, including options w/ hardwood, luxury vinyl, and laminate as well as installation timeline expectations and supply chain issues. Directionally, I knew what I wanted and she helped me find the best solution available. We found wood options and she provided samples. Also, she video of a recent installation of the wood we liked. Then, we she personally came to our house to bring additional samples and understand the scope of the project. She really cares about her customers and the commitments she makes on behalf of Metro Flooring. The installation team was excellent. I received a call about a week ahead of the installation date. They confirmed the dates and timelines. Then, the day of installation, the crew showed up and, again, confirmed the timelines. The bonus...it took less than a month from ordering to completion. And, the project was finished in time for Thanksgiving. Thank you Carey and Metro Flooring! read more

This is what professionalism looks like decade after decade. Consistent, friendly, honest (not pushy at all), efficient and transparent. Great selection of carpets (to take home as samples) / floors / window coverings and more. Plus they are a local family business standing behind their products and installs. Ernesto and Willie (the 2 installers) were in a mission and completed a large job in a day by powering through .... Go see Mike and his team! In recap: superb end-2-end experience with a rare species of professionals (close to extinction these days) from explore, negotiation to install. Last but not least and, as my wife would often say, cheap costs more in the end so factor in the full experience and not just cost prior to make your final purchase decision as peace of mind is priceless. From start to finish, we had nothing but a positive experience with Metro Flooring when we decided to replace our carpeting. Sales manager, Casey Lanier, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the best carpeting for our needs. Installers Willie and Ernesto did a wonderful job moving furniture and laying down the new carpeting. The icing on the cake was that they put everything back exactly where it had been and went to extra effort to make sure all the electronics were connected correctly. Finally, Michele, our contact at Metro Flooring, was caring, pleasant, and concerned that we receive five star service. We can highly recommend Metro Flooring. Steve & Alice Mosher read more

Big job, perfectly executed with great customer service! We replaced aged travertine tile, vinyl flooring and wood flooring with walnut luxury vinyl plank. Our salesperson was great, came to our home, did the measurements, and helped us choose a beautiful replacement. The pricing was for the entire job and was very reasonable. There was a lot of demolition - especially for the travertine. The travertine was demoed in about 4 days and the old tile was removed. The demolition team did a great job. The installation team came in and had to pour some self-levelling cement in various areas to even out the floor. They placed the floor down perfectly. There were some small fixups and the guys came back a few times to take care of those. All in all, the entire job took about 4 weeks. We're amazed at how well it all turned out and would string recommend this company - they know what they're doing! read more

I would not recommend this place based on the experience I had with the salesman at this location. I went in to inquire about stair noses for my stairs and he preceded to berate me on why I wanted to buy stair noses from Metro Flooring and not the original manufacturer. I told him there was a 3 month back order and I was looking for stair noses that were comparable. He preceded on telling me that I shouldn't want to see stair noses from Metro Flooring and how wrong I was to want see what they had available. When I insisted on seeing what they had in stock, he threw down the vinyl planks I was looking at and said,"Here, this is what we have." I an not sure if he was having a bad day or shouldn't be a sales position but he lost my business that day. read more

Great experience at Metro Flooring withy Cindy! Super helpful and patient as we went through all the samples. Thanks again!

We visited Metro Flooring today to price compare vinyl floors and had a very awkward and disappointing experience. The sales associate was condescending and gave us loads of misinformation. I can look past the misinformation since she may not be well trained about the products offered but the attitude was something else. We were actually told "you should consider expanding your budget or go to Home Depot." Misinformation: 1) WPC = "water proof core" 2) 22 mil = 22 millimeters 3) Home Depot floors will last 5 years because the wear layer isn't as good as their products. 4) There's no wood in WPC. 5) We won't find floors of the same quality for a lower price. In fact, I have no idea how expensive their vinyl flooring was because I was just told to go to Home Depot, but I do know based on my months of research that the quality of their products was average at best. 22 mils is equal to precisely 0.5588 millimeters, though most manufacturers and retailers will round it up to 0.6mm. This is regarding the wear layer so obviously 22 millimeters is massively incorrect. Most vinyl planks aren't even 7mm in total thickness. WPC actually mean wood plastic composite, so there is some wood present in the core. Many floors at Home Depot have WPC and SPC (stone plastic composite) cores and wear layers equal to 22 mils. Finally, I had previously found a store down the street from Metro Floors, as well as others including Home Depot, that offers many vinyl floor options which are better quality and value. I do not recommend Metro Flooring. read more

Over the moon It all started with trying to find a flooring place to install flooring in our very uneven floors and different types of bare floors. We have super old wood, concrete and plywood. What a problem we had. I went to look at my kitchen cabinets and saw Metro floor so I stopped. The first person to greet me was my fairgod mother of flooring Cynthia. She listened to what my problems were on the floors. She asked me what I was looking for. We want to do LVP through the whole house. She asked were the location was and I told here Julian. Then the next big question to her was do you go there and she said Yes. Yeah I then told here our only heat source was wood stove. Well that took down a whole different path. She explained that tile would be better. Cynthia was very patient with me and she right away started pull samples. The would match the picture I showed her of the house. she came up to the house with all the samples. We picked what we liked and the transition from the tiles to carpet we fantastic They even took the time to come up and look at are leveling issue before the installation wow now that customer service BIG Shout Out to the installers wow. They were incredible. cabinet installer said he has seen that level of a flooring in a kitchen. The LVP up in the funky bathroom was also incredible. Jim and his helper did an awesome job on the carpet over the old wood floor Could not believe how it turned out. Everyone can't believe it is tile If was not for Cynthia helping with the design and making sure everything was done the house would not have come out like it did. Here are some pictures read more

End result is a 4 Star look, but the process was pretty unpleasant. At best, a 2 Star experience overall. We had Metro Flooring's contractor do a simple demolition and re-tile job in our guest bathroom. It's a very small room. The job was scheduled to start on Wednesday and take 2-3 days. A couple days before, we were told it would start Thursday at 930am. On Thursday at 10, we had not heard from the installation crew, so we called Metro and, after two or three phone calls, found out that the crew would not be coming in that day. By now, I had wasted half a day waiting for people who knew they couldn't make it the night before, but were "trying to find a replacement." Friday morning, a different crew showed up at 8am and work went fine. He promised to return on Saturday at 8am to finish grouting. At 830, I called him only to be told that he "couldn't come in today." After a little negotiating, we arranged for him to come at 1030. Another morning wasted waiting. For all this trouble, Metro gave us $100 credit and made it seem like a huge, gracious gift from them, instead of compensation for almost two whole days of wasted time and unexpected bathroom inaccessibility, as we had readied our bathroom for the demo job by removing the sink and toilet on Wednesday afternoon. The master bathroom was done by a different crew, and they were a bit more professional. However, they left our entire bedroom covered in a fine layer of dust, having only covered our belongings with plastic sheeting for about half the work. Also, poor planning on their part resulted in us having to point out seven (7!) places they missed tile accents in our desired pattern, which they then had to chip out instead of being able to use the proper table tools. It is a noticeable detraction from the overall quality of the end result. Overall, this was a less than satisfactory experience. The end result is acceptable, but the workmanship and quality of materials are nothing special, while the service was a huge disappointment. The prices are low, but I still spent a lot of money for a sub-par service. I do not particularly recommend this place and will absolutely look to another company for any future jobs in my home. UPDATE: We were pleased to find that the store owner, Bruce, took a personal interest and called several times to find a way to make this right. After some discussion, we arranged to have the crew come back and replace the tiles where the accents had been chipped out. There was some miscommunication between Bruce and the crew, as they arrived unaware of how many tiles needed work. They determined that the entire floor would have to be redone. Instead of subjecting ourselves to that trauma, we agreed to let them just re-cut the accents without replacing them. The end result looks much better though the reworked accent spaces are visibly slightly larger with more grouting than the properly installed ones. They also fixed up the wall, which now look fine. Luckily, right before they arrived, we noticed that the webbing from the tile materials in the shower floor was coming up from the grout in several places, so we asked them to regrout the shower floor and they complied. Another installation issue. Overall, our resolution was satisfactory, although it obviously would have been preferable to have the work done right the first time around. Upgraded one additional star rating due to invasive customer service. read more

I had metro flooring lay a vinyl (wood) floor over my existing travertine floor that had not aged well. I was hesitant at first about the vinyl wood product but could not be more pleased with the decision. Metro flooring and especially Cynthia made the whole process smooth. Yelp doesn't allow separate reviews for different aspects of our experience so this is a combo review. Sales/customer service: 5-stars. Cynthia was responsive, followed up regularly (even on off days) and provided answers to our questions. Product: 5-stars. We purchased a high-end LVP product and are happy with it. We also bought some carpet which is a good product although we're still not 100% certain that we got the right color. Installation: 6-stars. The installation team that did our job was excellent. Very diligent workers who also cleaned up every day. Business methods: 3-stars. Metro seems to have all the right policies in place but unfortunately our experience with management was off-putting. It came down to the exact attitude, verbage and body language which we experienced while navigating the project and costs. The company did take actions which are positive, but we felt the delivery of those actions was brusque and acerbic. Not a "Nordstrom's" experience and we unfortunately ended with a bad taste. Bottom line: There is value to Metro's offerings (which is why we signed with them in the first place). We recommend buyers be thorough with getting all details clearly explained, especially on the magnitude of possible cost adders post-contract signing. read more
