I can understand the frustration the Dr. might experience, however, a professional and patient attitude is the only appropriate approach in those situations while working with the public.

Liann gave a great overview of the policy and was way more helpful than Site for Sore Eyes, my usual optometry that turned me down for the same request. Short Answer: you can, but would need to show documentation of the vision correction procedure (LASIK, EVO ICL, etc) with the date and doctor's name. This varies by store and insurance in California. No issues if you have a prescription. Liann helped me through my order, got it processed online, and I'm about two weeks away from receiving my Ray-Bans. Happy, easy experience. Would recommend.

I received my glasses from here and briefly picked them up, tried them on and everything looked good, and brought them home. After around 4 months (this spring) I began to wear my glasses daily to work. This is when I started to notice that I couldn't quite see as well and was getting migraines and nausea. After calling this location, I explained my issues and the person on the phone didn't care to address them and just explained that the 3 month warranty had expired. I asked them for the details of my glasses prescription, and this location had prescribed me a lower prescription than I had for the past 3 years! I failed to notice this within the 3 month warranty because I wasn't wearing them long term, and it initially appeared fine as it matched the lower prescription of my contact lenses that I was wearing at the time. Historically, my glasses prescription has always been higher, and different in both eyes with various astigmatism corrections. They refused to replace my lenses since it wasn't under warranty even though they prescribed me incorrectly! I even paid $150 for these special lenses and frames, and they wouldn't replace them. I was very disappointed with their customer service here and you are better off going to a smaller family optometry group.

So, instead of the typical $150-$200 I pay for glasses, depending on the frames, I was quoted $425. I would argue that if a location only uses a premium lab, and the insurance doesn't cover the cost of that premium lab... they really don't accept that insurance. If you have VSP, choose a different provider. I'm going back to Costco where they actually do take VSP.
