We were in the Surfside area a couple of months ago and decided to try Raves for lunch. It was excellent. This is a family restaurant and they show their love and pride in their business. My husband had the Dutch Onion Soup as well as a grilled chicken sandwich. I had a turkey sandwich. Everything was excellent. I don't think you can find fresher food anywhere. We've been back several times. We now also drive up from Pawleys Island occasionally to have breakfast. Great Omelets and pancakes! This place is great...wish we lived closer! read more

Great breakfast and lunch at Raves today. I had the most delicious super fluffy western omelette with great home fries and sourdough toast. Yummy! Hubby had chicken salad melt that he enjoyed, but could not finish. A big sandwich with an interesting orzo salad side. The waitress was attentive and the place was very clean, tables were not crowded and the quiet atmosphere was enhanced by music playing softly in the background. We will be back! read more

This may be the best breakfast location in the Surfside/ Garden City area. The omelets are fluffy and not over cooked. Home fries are full of flavor and are not just potatoes cooked in a fryer. Decor is pleasant with friendly staff. I will visit again. read more

This place is super. We are from out of town and our normal once a year breakfast place was closed on Sunday. My husband saw this place and we figured "nothing ventured, nothing gained" Well we were very pleased with the outcome. A family run restaurant with wonderful food and service. The place was very clean and you can tell they pay a lot of attention to detail. Prices were reasonable. This establishment is spot on and a welcome respite from other breakfast places that tend to cater to the masses. My advice is run don't walk to this place. You will not regret it. read more

Really nice casual spot for breakfast and lunch. Solid menu with the basics but everything seems fresh and made with care vs some of the other typical places. Menu isn't massive and pages long which is a plus in my book - do the basics really well with nice extras and made with care. Blueberry pancakes were great and they have all the basics. Looking forward to trying the lunch menu soon - looked yummy. Nice interior - up to date, not tables crammed together. A counter if you are sooo and don't want to sit at a table. Wow! Just wow! Was very hesitant to try a new place while here on vacation because restaurants that have just opened are so hit or miss but SOOO glad we gave it a shot! Phenomenal. Walked it and saw the awesome southern style bar and instantly likes the place. Both waitresses from jersey just like my wife so had a good laugh when the cofffeee talk came out. Lol. The name says it all...I want to RAVE about their FANTASTIC breakfast food! We've been splitting our time between our home in the north and our beach house in Surfside for the past 10 years. All this time, we overlooked Rave's. A couple weeks ago, we saw a "we serve breakfast" banner and decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The inside is VERY clean, with a low key atmosphere and a decent dining space along with a bar area. The waitress was attentive, polite and friendly. She took our order quickly upon arrival and the food arrived in less than 10 minutes looking fantastic. We soon learned the food tasted as good as it looked - awesome! The scrambled eggs weren't over-cooked or dry and looked like they were made in a pan where they came out nice and fluffy. The home fries are the best we've ever eaten. And the cheese omelette was sublime! It was the best type of gooey cheese and very fluffy. Whoever does the cooking here knows what they are doing! In case it was a fluke, we went back on Mother's Day (2018) to see what it was like. The place was crowded and we were told the wait would be 20 min or so. We arrived at 10:35 and were seated within 5 minutes and our order was taken immediately. Where's the wait, we thought? Ah, that was for the food. Even with the crowd, the waiter was attentive, so our glasses stayed full and he returned twice once our food was served to make sure we didn't need anything else. The food did take 25 min to arrive once we ordered, but again it was awesome and very much worth the wait. You could tell the chef (or cook) was taking their time to ensure each order was correct and made to perfection. My wife ordered the Spring Berry Special (French toast with berries and whipped cream) and I did the 2x2x2 (eggs, bacon toast) again. The French toast was 6 nice sized slices of thick-cut French bread and included plenty of berries and cream! Extremely delicious. The eggs were again done to perfection along with the bacon being just the way I like it. This meal cemented our decision to make Rave's our favorite place to eat! read more

Fantastic. Fast and very friendly service. Coffee was hot and tasted great - i usually have a problem with that because i have to drink decaf. Food came out quickly, hot and delicious. "Real" eggs, homemade hash browns and nice, crispy bacon. We had to have been offered 3 coffee refills in the 30 minutes we were there. My wife and I have eaten at all (no bull!) the breakfast places In a ten mile radius from where we live in Murrells Inlet, SC. Raves is the only one who puts a small amount of thin sliced grilled onions and delicious seasonings in their potatoes. They also use real butter to cook their eggs with! The father of the family is the chef (Johnson & Wales University culinary school trained), the mother is the manager/server, and the rest of their large family and friends do most of the work. When we go their for breakfast two to three times per week, we always get great service. In fact, the chef makes me a "scram" vs an omelet, that is not on the menu, but it should be. He will take any of the omelet ingredients, and make a "scram" out of it, and my favorite is the mushroom scram. These are not canned mushrooms, as you can easily tell by their juicy, flavorful taste. I have also had their sausage scram, and their vegetable scram, and all have better quality ingredients, IMO, than their competition. We like their lunches too, but our favorite meals there are their breakfasts. Oh, and my wife had a pancake that was crispy on the edges, as it was cooked in butter. It was a light pancake that was cooked to order by making it thin. We found out later that it was made from "scratch" vs a "mix" which I would bet that many of the pancake houses in the area use for convenience. read more

Maybe this area just doesn't have good food around since others gave it 4 and 5 stars, but my kids make better omelets. And no maple syrup even for extra charge. Re service, we were a party of five. The hostess kept trying to arrange a "four-top" table for us with an extra chair (there were tables open), and someone kept telling her there wasn't room. We thought maybe it was a safety issue, but they eventually did that after seating several parties ahead of us. Anyway, this is a "meh" restaurant with above-average prices for what you get. E.g., 1/3 cup of grits = $5. If you're starving, go there; otherwise, try another place. read more

the reviews are right-awesome breakfast. greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. our server was great explaining the menu and specials. food was served unbelievably fast. i got the western omelette with potatoes. my wife ordered the special with eggs, grits and bacon. both meals were cooked perfectly. nice and clean, modern rustic look inside. need a nicer sign outside to grab some more attention imho. great value and will be back! read more
