Tldr: Charged $5.50 for a key copy that didn't work. It looked different than the original, but he didn't want to make another copy when politely asked to. I had a key made here, the copy was visibly different from the original. My friend had the original and he's a very busy guy and hard to get ahold of so I pointed out the difference to the key maker and asked if he could cut another blank. I was about to move to my new apartment and found this place on Yelp to make keys for myself and spare keys for my parents, since it's close by me. I had three keys made and cost me over $17!! (And they weren't extravagant keys either, they were the same style I always get). I've never heard of keys costing this much. I usually go to Home Depot and I'll definitely be sticking with that from now on. Then the day of the move came along and my dad wanted to head to my new place to check my electrical so I gave him his brand-new key and go figure, it didn't work!! So my mom had to leave helping me with the move to run and give my dad a key that would actually work. It cause such a headache on an already stressful day of moving. I could get over the price being ridiculously high but those overpriced keys better work.. and 1/3 did not! The location is easy - it's at Fairfax and Santa Monica in the corner shopping center where Whole Foods. I get a LOT of keys cut here (like 100+ per year) and have never had one that didn't work, unlike most other key cutting places I've gone to in the past. The only downfall is parking here in the Whole Foods Parking lot can be atrocious depending on the time of day. I've been getting keys made and having my knives sharpened here for the past 20 years. And I've used their 24 hour emergency service a few times, too. They're always super reliable and do great service. I highly recommend them. As for the Whole Foods parking lot, go in the mornings between 10-12 or in the afternoons between 2 and 4 to avoid the crowds. read more
