Stop by the Irvine farmer's market at Mariner's Church and dropped off a couple of kitchen knives to be sharpened while we did our shopping. They had signs up, so their truck was easy to find (parked by the thrift shop). They were nice, fast, and work was great. $20 for two 8 inch knives sharpened. My knives were sharper than when first purchased. Was able to cut through a whole chicken like butter. read more

Very fast and easy to work with. Did very nice work on both Japanese knives in Chinese cleavers. One of my globals is serrated and he did a great job on that as well. I didn't get a chance to have him do a single bevel but I trust him and will try it the next time I need a bunch of knives sharpened. He works out of his van and can come to you for a minimum order. This shop has plenty of good reviews and the service is probably fine for most users with cheap knives but if you have quality knives it's a good idea to look elsewhere. I handed them a bunch of expensive knives ($200-500) and they just put them through power grinders to sharpen them up which removed a lot of the metal, re-profiled the edge, and probably damaged the heat treat. If your knife gets too hot it damages the heat treat. Here is the work on two of the knives I dropped off. Neither should have gone through a power grinder. I spoke with the woman before dropping them off and was assured the edge would not be re-profiled. These knives should have been given more care than they were. read more
