I scheduled an appointment roughly two weeks after I had spoken with OC knife sharpening the first time and just as he said he was there on time and in an outstanding job . This shop has plenty of good reviews and the service is probably fine for most users with cheap knives but if you have quality knives it's a good idea to look elsewhere. I handed them a bunch of expensive knives ($200-500) and they just put them through power grinders to sharpen them up which removed a lot of the metal, re-profiled the edge, and probably damaged the heat treat. If your knife gets too hot it damages the heat treat. Here is the work on two of the knives I dropped off. Neither should have gone through a power grinder. I spoke with the woman before dropping them off and was assured the edge would not be re-profiled. These knives should have been given more care than they were. read more

I contacted the business as I was hoping to check them out at a local farmer's market, only to realize that they actually had their hours posted (and locations) on their website. Ended up visiting them at the farmer's market in Ladera Ranch, as they have their mobile workshop parked on the street near the other small business tents. I had a Shun 8-inch knife and two other knives that I wanted to sharpen, and I was told the knives would be ready within 30 minutes. Definitely a lot of people stopped to inquire about their services so it seems they certainly have a good reputation. At $1.25/inch for sharpening, it's a fair price and a relatively small price to pay especially considering I had not sharpened my knives for a couple years (too worried of messing up the edge). They also did a fantastic job with helping me pack my knives, because they saw that I needed to carry it inside a backpack so they used corks on the knife points and wrapped my knives in some packing paper w/ rubber bands. Only time will tell how sharp my knives will stay as I'm sure it is dependent on the knife material, but so far so great since chopping is much smoother. Would come back as I really love the ease and quickness of service. I imagine if you prefer not to pay the minimum charge for their mobile service and live local in Orange County, definitely check out their times at the farmer's market as they change locations every other weekend and may be close to you. read more

I can't rave enough about Junhao and the fabulous job he did sharpening my knives. I've had a set of German knives since the 1980's so over 40 years, and almost a month after Junhao sharpened them they are sharper than they've been since they were new. I have used many services including Chef's Toys. No one comes close! Junhao came to my house so I added in an old pair of kitchen shears that had wonderful weight to them but were so dull, even after I paid to "sharpen" them I wasn't using them any more. They cut paper now! Perfect for snipping herbs from my garden and whatever I need them for. I also had him sharpen a couple of gardening tools. Again, he has done a better job than the tool/ lawnmover repair place I have been taking them to. Junhao is also such a delightful man, polite, curteous, confirms and shows up on time. Mr. Chen was wonderful! My knives are like new. I didn't realize how much they needed a real sharpening. I have a mix of higher end (Global) and mid range (Ginsu japanese) knives. He was quick to respond after we were able to schedule an appointment within a few days for the service.
