Once I got home, I put them to the test using both regular paper and facial tissue to see how cleanly they would cut. They passed both tests just fine and came back noticeably sharp. Overall, a convenient and reasonably priced sharpening service with good results. I'll definitely bring my knives back when they need sharpening again.

I have a trusted knife sharpener, but wanted to give Chef's Toys Knife Sharpening services a try…read morebecause it's close to my work. Bad decision on my part. When I got back my "sharpened" knives, one of them had nicks and burrs. I don't know if you can see in the photos. The bottom part of the blade feels chewed up and rough. I had two other knives sharpened and they're not as sharp as when I've had them done with people who know what they're doing. I will only go back to see ask if they can fix the one with the nicks. After that, never again. I'm actually scared to have them touch my knife again, but it's want them to be aware of the lack of quality. If you care about your knives, call ALL SHARPENED UP (Orange County) or GARY'S KNIVES (South Bay and West Side) instead.

I made my way out to the SoCo farmers market early morning to catch him to sharpen my 2 hair-cutting shears. He educated me on the types of shears I had and the his process in sharpening them with all of the different tools he had. Upon pickup, he had me check how well they cut with human hair extensions he had ready so that he could make any needed adjustments. Long story short, I brought expensive shears I had bought preowned not realizing that they may have been sharpened incorrectly before so he had to fix somebody else's work. He was so kind and didn't make me feel bad about it and was overall just so pleasant to work with. The set comes with a tubular sharpening stone but after years of mild sharpening, we needed a new set. Or so I thought. SCS brought the entire knife set back to brand new co diction at a fraction of the cost. We had 6 knives sharpened for $72. Cash only. Far cheaper than a new set and we love the look and feel of our set. Kind of like a new pair of soles on your favorite shoes. The shop itself is a dump.... dusty from all of the industrial sharpening that they do here so don't plan shopping for new knives here. The service was top notch and they turned the Knives around in less than a day. They charge by the inch, a fair price and the knives are super sharp once again.
