We always come here for dessert after we eat at the place next door. I love the gelato they have a great selection! There aren't many gelato places that make it very authentic like you would get in Italy and Rao's is the closest thing to that! The bakery items have always been fresh to taste and I have such a hard time deciding what I want since there's so many options. My favorite so far is the French silk pie and then Italian cream cake balls! I wish this place wasn't so far from where I live because it really is a special treat to get to go to Rao's! I needed a bakery close by so I tried here after reading reviews this morning. Great desserts! They all look so yummy. My only complaint is the lady behind the counter, Megan. She was not helpful nor very friendly. I wont go back anytime soon because the attitude was enough to scare me away. I love family owned businesses but they need a new cashier. I dont need attitude to start my day off. There was a young man behind the counter as well who couldnt be sweeter. Too bad that one bad apple spoils the batch. read more

Upon walking in I noticed this place was pretty packed. I noticed a wide variety of groups: families with their kids, older couples, younger couples, friends etc. I didn't have time to stay myself because we just stopped by on the way home from the grocery store. I bought a brownie and my husband bought a pecan pie and a cappuccino. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have custom blends of coffees. Once I tried my dessert I felt like it was definitely better than something I'd get from a grocery store, but the brownie itself still had a little bit of a generic taste to it. The frosting made it all better, but I would've enjoyed something a little more rich and moist. Other than that, I enjoyed the atmosphere at Rao's so next time around I want to stop by and try their Gelato. read more

It's a little too sweet for my liking but it is the best place around the area for king cake. The place looks great and themed well for Mardi Gras. They had a lot of goodies but I didn't try them. I've tried to like the place. I've been about 4 or so times. It's consistently dirty, service slow and food is relatively expensive. However, the experience this time will make it my last. I ordered a side salad, cookie and small iced tea. My total was over $11.00. They forgot to make my salad. So, I waited 25 minutes before I ate (there were only two other customers). I was introduced to Raos when I moved here five years ago and have been a loyal customer ever since. The staff is always friendly and the desserts are heavenly. They have cookies that are frosted and packaged which is great to take to meetings. Everyone loves them. They also have a breakfast and lunch menu and gelato which is SO good! They have recently remodeled and it's very nice. There is also a small gift section which comes in handy. I highly recommend stopping in! read more

Very unprofessional. Ordered 2 dozen undecorated Christmas tree-shaped sugar cookies for a cookie decorating party. When I picked them up, I was given 11 trees and 13 stockings. The manager didn't apologize at all, just explained that all the trees made that morning had been decorated and this was all they had left. No phone call was made to let me know I wouldn't get what I ordered. No note was made to tell me when I picked them up, I just happened to check the box. When I complained that I had already made green frosting for the party and could have changed it if I had been notified, the only offer he made was, "Well, I've seen green stockings." No thanks. We moved here about 2 years ago, and I was thrilled to find Roas since I like to find local coffee places versus places like Starbucks. They make delicious espresso drinks and have different coffee options depending on the day, which have always been delicious. Every year for my husband's bday I bring him a chocolate cake with strawberries on top from raos. On my brother in laws bday (or when I just happen to go there) I TRY to bring him cake balls but Rao's cant seem to make them fast enough or they just dont make enough. The red velvet cake balls & chocolate chip cookies are to DIE for! My in laws eat a box of them in like 2 hours lol we cant get enough! I just wish they made more cakeballs so they wont run out or when I ask "ok I will come back, what time will you have them?" And they tell me 3-4pm, that they really will have them or at least let me make an order to come back in a couple hours to get them. I dont think they take same day orders which is a problem. me and my family we order 2 cakes at 1 or 2 pm and they said the cake would be done at 5:30 but when we got there at 6:20 the cakes were not even ready they said it will be ready in 5 minutes but they just started making the cakes they were trying to hide it, they said five minutes but we wait for an whole hour then we saw the cake it was just beyond horrible so badly made they taped on the photo onto the cake with tape and they writing was so bad they were not doing there jobs even the manger too just playing around not doing anything then after we saw the cakes we just took one and we wanted a refund for the other cake but they said we have to call someone in order to give a refund but they were lying cause we paided cash for the cakes when we took 1 cake they didn't close the box right they were so rude also. they should be fired From working there it was just horrible read more

I have been coming to Rao's for well over 10 years. For lunches & gelato, ordering cakes, picking up cookies, etc. Now I often frequent Rao's to get a great latte & some computer work done. Staff was helpful, polite and made good suggestions (hence the delicious strawberry cream -cake). Did I mention the strawberry cream-cake? I don't even like strawberry cake but I am now a convert. This place is pretty good. It's really close to where I live so I decided to try it a few times. The cream cheese blueberry muffin was delicious. Their cinnamon rolls are unique because the dough they use is a sour dough which is hard to find these days and the icing was perfect. The cookies are okay. I don't know about all of the other cookies but we got a stack of butterfly shaped sugar cookies with an icing glaze on top and they weren't much better than HEB cookies. Overall a great place for a treat and I plan to try more of their menu soon. read more

I had sampled a Chocolate King Cake years ago, and wanted one ever since. Thought I had to go to the Beaumont area to get it. Found the Spring location instead. Didn't but the King Cake(money was funny) but I did get a cinnamon roll and a truffle fudge brownie. Crazy good! The cinnamon roll was a bit hard on the outer edges for my taste, but still great! Rao's is a nice, tucked away bakery up in Spring. They have SO many sweets to choose from and a couple of sandwiches that come with chips or a salad. I came here for lunch with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the Tomato Mozzarella and he had the Turkey and cheese sandwich. The tomato mozzarella was okay, but I wish they had melted the cheese instead of serving it cold. We split the Elvis ice cream for dessert (peanut butter, honey, and banana). IT WAS DELICIOUS! It was like a jar of Skippy peanut butter exploded in my mouth. Wonderful ice cream, decent sandwiches, good and fast service. I would like to go again if we're ever in the area. read more

Literally terrible. Lots of the cakes stay in the display case for up to and more than a week. Not as clean as a restaurant should be and the management is terrible. They make their "made to order" breakfast about twice a week and store it in a fridge. As a former employee at this bakery I can personally say that it's not a place you want to go. The management doesn't change, so the business will never change. They will resteam already steamed milk which is not good. They will work the employees for 8+ hours withou a break. And then complain or just say no when you ask for one. They don't do any kind of deep cleaning on a regular schedule. Jeremy,(one of the managers and brothers of the business is often late. And gloats about anything he can just to talk.) Josh, the other brother often walks around giving orders and never helping a customer except on rare occasions. Jude does good though. He's more of the handy man and often helps. Krystal lies about product so don't listen to here. The cakes will be marked on the bottom with a number, 1 being Monday and so on. Overall a terrible place to work or visit so I wouldn't do either. read more

I've heard raving reviews about Rao's from many people i know so tried them out finally to see what the goodness is about. I went for both breakfast and a late night craving of a sweet tooth, breakfast was great and my sweet tooth was a little to cured meaning the pastries are so sweet and hard to finish the whole thing! Tried Rao's about a year ago as it is close to our house and overall receives good reviews. I ordered 4 cupcakes and in each one, the cake was dry. I would rate them below average in taste. I decided to pop in there tonight to give them another shot, and ordered two baby cakes, red velvet and double chocolate. Again, cake was dry and overall not very good. Not to mention it is a little pricey. Each mini cake was 7$. I don't mind paying for quality but these desserts just aren't very good. read more
