Keylime pie slice & Strawberry Macaroons
    Jamie M.

Sticking to the baked goods next time. Perhaps an off day for them, or they just got clobbered by a lunch rush. The sit down area was dirty. A lot of patrons were coming in to snag pre ordered Kings Cakes that were taking up the back register and corner of the store. I opted to start with lunch a full chicken salad sandwich on a croissant with chips and fruit cup. Chicken salad was just ok. Them panini pressing the croissant with the innards just made it look pitiful. Perhaps that's my own misunderstanding; and the croissant was more of a finger bite size, not a full. Again maybe user confusion. The chips were bottom of the bag, I have kids there is no hiding when this happens someone always isn't happy to receive them. I got a piece of key lime pie to go and some strawberry macaroons for my daughter (2 for $5). I'm a pie snob and this missed the mark on my favorite. It was very dense.

I have driven by this place many times but never tried it. Also didn't know it's a bakery where I could sit in, order something, and enjoy there. That was good to know. The place was nice, clean, and pretty spacious. I came for a breakfast meet up so thought the place was fitting for that. Food-wise, I'm a tea drinker so was pleasantly surprised by their tea offerings. See photo. Usually, I would order a baked good or two to try but am doing a sugar detox/healthy thing right now so I opted for something more in line with that. The choice I went with was a whole wheat wrap and asked them to just make it with eggs and chicken. That's a huge plus for me to get something with that much protein. It came with a tomato salsa and thought everything tasted great together. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would like to come back and try their baked goods when I can have sugar again.

Tasty desserts-from collies, Italian ice cream and cake, and a variety of brunch and lunch options. This time it was cake! Both were very good but the lemon was refreshing!

The chicken salad at Rao's was fresh, clean and really good. However, I ordered the sugar cookies. I asked for them to give me individually wrapped cookies as I do not want them to stick together. They did not and the cookies were stacked on top each other and the frosting came off of some...melted on the back of others and the color was off. I think this is lazy of Rao's some pastries must be separate, individually wrapped or packed in a box different. This was lazy presentation and they need to change this because I for one could not give these unflavored bricks away. Wasted my money. Other than that, the I will continue to frequent Roa's because it is a nice place.

Better service today! Also ordered a cake for my birthday in September. My mom and I were craving a sandwich but didn't want to find a Jimmy John's so I suggested Rao's and glad we came. We've been coming here since I can remember. The ambiance is usually pretty friendly. If you're hungry or have a sweet tooth- this place covers it!

Rao's is a beloved community staple off Cypresswood, and for good reason. With its welcoming ambience, cozy atmosphere, and bold coffee, it's a local favorite that consistently draws me back. I usually come in focused on my morning coffee--especially their exclusive, robust 1941 Anniversary Blend--but their tempting pastry case makes discipline challenging, especially when I'm trying intermittent fasting. I'll admit, their chocolate chip cookies are dangerously good--perfectly sweet, chewy, and irresistible. And truthfully, there are mornings when the enticing aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls wins me over, ending my fast a bit prematurely. Worth it? Absolutely. If you're looking for a reliable coffee spot, have a sweet tooth that refuses to be ignored, or just want an inviting place for your weekly gatherings, Rao's Bakery, Coffee, and Cafe is absolutely worth visiting. Now, back to enjoying my coffee--it's exactly the bold kick-start my morning needed.

I had a great experience at this bakery. The service was great, my pecan cinnamon roll was amazing and my cappuccino was perfect. I'm visiting from Philadelphia and wanted to try some local spots. I'll definitely be returning.

Our favorite pie here is Key Lime. It is so delightful! You can order by the slice if you are 't sure. We like to take it to our friends for parties, etc. The Chocolate silk is wonderful too!! We recently got a Cinnamon Mini King Cake. It was very sweet!! Would I buy another one??! Heck yeah! Coffee is good! Love the house blend!

Customer service is great on the phone and in person! However, my birthday cake (Italian cream) was a total disaster.. I ordered a day before to ensure "freshness" like the lady who took my order on the phone advised was best. The cake was extremely hard to cut into and dry.. very disappointing. ):

Honestly an amazing spot. I just discovered this place on accident. I was looking for a quiet place to work before a meeting nearby and I was pleasantly surprised. The workers and the patrons are amazing. Everyone is so calm yet upbeat. The staff greeted me immediately and was so warm and welcoming. Sometimes you can catch one of them singing to herself while she makes coffee. If I didn't live so far away I would come everyday. The beautiful lady with an accent is honestly my favorite person now.

This place is unassuming on the outside but once you step inside it's really nice! Plenty of parking and decent amount of seating. So many pastries to choose from, the tiramisu was really good. I'd return to try more of their selection. I ordered a tea and while it was good, it was EXTREMELY hot and took forever to cool down, so I'd ask for some ice on the side next time maybe lol.

I've had sandwiches in NYC and Boston, but Tony's were definitely better! The menu is overwhelming because so much sounds good, so we went with two 7 inch sandwiches to split--one hot and one cold. Although a helpful tip from the cashier is that you can order any cold sandwich hot. We had the Lucky Luciano (hot) and the Sophia (cold). Both were really good--it was hard to choose between the two. But if I'm being honest, that cold sandwich was reminiscent of subs I loved in the early 2000s from places that no longer exist...with that super thinly sliced turkey, thick slice of Swiss cheese, and basil mayo--it really hit the spot. We also had a cannolo--not as good as others I've had. The bottled root beer was delightful. The Lucky Luciano was the kind of sandwich I came here for, and don't get me wrong, it is deliciously cheesy and will make your hands messy. But the Sophia is the kind of sandwich I'll be craving. My only regret was not taking a sandwich to-go for later. Open a location closer to Houston, please. :)

They are a pepsi place (booooooo!), and there's no diet pepsi (pepsi zero is their only zero calorie soda option). If you drink Diet Coke (most popular diet drink in USA), then you don't want diet pepsi, but you'll probably drink it if you have to; however, you're very likely to hate pepsi zero (and Coke Zero, too), so no soda for you here anymore! A full Coke setup that also includes Dr Pepper AND Diet Dr Pepper is ideal. I realize a pepsi fountain is more profitable because of distributor incentives, but pepsi is favored by almost nobody and hated by many...so is it really worth it? Tony's is so great that pepsi just does not fit in. Hopefully they don't deteriorate further and change to Wonderbread for all of their sandwiches. Bottom line: at the very least, please add diet pepsi to your soda machine if that brand remains in place.

I'm feeling nostalgic about missing my mother's food, and so had to order it when I saw they had a cabbage roll appetizer. One of those oldie but goodie foods that your mother and grandmother knew how to make, but most of us lost the recipe. There is a slight hint of sweetness in it that's quite appealing, it's different than my mother's version, but I thought it was really excellent!! Will order that again. I don't normally wax poetic about a pickle, but the one they put on my Reuben sandwich plate is worth an ode. I asked them to make the Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef, and add extra Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Bib up, it'll drip juices but that's a good thing. Anyway, the pickle on that plate was a three bears story - not too strong, not too bland, but absolutely perfect. I was in a traditionalist mood and so I ordered blintzes for dessert with blueberry sauce. This is my first time eating here, the food was really great, and the staff was warm and wonderful. And you know, the coffee tasted really fresh and was delicious as well! Next time I will order the cabbage rolls again, definitely the blitzes for dessert, and then I'll have to try something else off the menu. Voyage of discovery. Definitely coming back soon!

He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and even helped us select an entrée for Mom. We both ordered the Chicken Panini, hers with broccoli soup and mine with chicken pot pie soup. Our meals were delivered promptly by a sweet, cordial young lady. Mom was excited to see her entrée, but after a few bites, she found her broccoli soup too salty. I tasted it as well and suspected the cheddar cheese base was the reason. I went to the counter to request a bowl of hot water to dilute the soup, which helped a little. The gentleman who took our order noticed and immediately asked if everything was okay. When I mentioned the high sodium content for Mom, he kindly offered to bring another cup prepared with more milk or to swap it for a different soup. Mom opted for the potato soup, and he graciously brought it out. The Chicken Panini was excellent -- warm, well-made, and flavorful. The side of plain house chips was decent, though a bit salty for our taste -- especially when paired with the soup. A baked chip option might be a nice, lighter alternative for some guests. The restaurant itself was clean, and I appreciated seeing staff promptly clearing and wiping down tables as guests left. It added to the welcoming and well-kept atmosphere. We ended our meal with a smooth, delicious ice cream cone -- the perfect sweet finish. While a few items were on the salty side for us, the outstanding service, clean environment, and overall meal quality made the visit worthwhile. We'll definitely be back!

Back then, I believe we used to have a flyer/menu from them that some employees ordered from. I visited on a cold day where most of the customers were taking their orders to-go. The setup is a little confusing at first, but you just go down the serving line and stop when someone asks you for your order. You can get a tray, or not, depending on how many plates or dishes you ordered. The ready area (for dine-in customers) is weirdly placed in the middle of the line and the spot for to-go orders is at the end of the line next to the last register. Once your order has been places, you grab the ticket and take it to a register. This setup reminds me of a little local deli I used to visit regular in Stafford. I will say that their selection of hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches is limited. Most are 1 protein only which is probably how they can keep their prices so low. I asked the order taker if you could customize or make a hot roast beef sandwich or toast it and first she didn't understand me, then she just repeated the two hot sandwich options from the menu. I again asked can you make the sandwich toasted, then she said yes. The sandwich, by default, comes on French bread. I wasn't familiar enough with the menu to pick another bread so I just stuck with French. I chose provolone cheese. It comes out after a few mins and it's nicely toasted and ended up being a nice size sandwich with an adequate meat to bun ratio. The sandwich also comes with a pickle spear. I also added a cup of homemade chili which is pretty decent. The meat is finely ground and I prefer it to be more coarse, but the flavor was good. All of their entrees and side dishes have low prices. One of the best deals is the "classic" sandwich which comes with prosciutto. An even better deal may be their baked potatoes with 4 toppings for only $2.09 weekdays!
