When the calendar aligns with Mardi Gras, it's the perfect excuse to get some seasonal goodness. Based on a friend's recommendation, I went to PJ's for King Cake. She grew up in Louisiana so I took her recommendation to heart. When I went to place my order, I was asked if I wanted traditional cheesecake or cream cheese. Those that know me know that I can't handle the stress of such a complicated question so I ordered one of each. Now, these things aren't cheap, but don't let that deter you...read on... When I placed my ordered the nice lady at the counter told me that they weren't fully ready and that she needed to step to the back to decorate them. Wowee! Fresh Kind Cake. After a 10 minute or so wait, they both came out. I took them home and busted open the boxes. After a few sinful bites of each one, I felt sick from the sugar -- but I knew what I was in for. I at some more, haha. In the end, I preferred the traditional cake over the cream cheese. As I look back, I remember seeing advertisement for Mardi Gras drinks. One of those lattes sounds amazing. Will have to go back for one. Oh, and sorry for not posting pics of the King Cakes. I meant to. By time I regained control after getting my munch on, I wasn't proud of the way the cakes looked. I will have to go back and order a fresh cake and share a picture on my next visit. Go check this place out if you haven't. This was my 2nd time trying PJ's and neither time did I enjoy my drink. Today I went through the drive thru and ordered their new Southern Wedding Cake flavor, frozen with soy milk & whipped cream. Unfortunately I tried it when I drove off. But it tasted like a plain frozen coffee. It was not sweet at all and had no flavor. Im highly concerned if maybe they forgot to add the syrup because I did not taste any vanilla or almond. The whipped cream had more flavor than the drink. I was very disappointed. Great service, great location, even better coffee! Of course, being a Louisiana-based establishment, I'd expect nothing less. ;) The beignets are a warm & sugary delight that my kids LOVE. I love them too - just can't indulge like I want to since they're so sweet...But, man oh man are they GOOD! Love, LOVE the honey oat milk latte and the iced tea is always fresh - just wished they came in larger sizes. Access is as easy as can be. Its nestled in the Cypresswood Crossing shopping center at the corner of Steubner Airline and Cypresswood drive and even offers a drive-through if you don't want to get out or are in a hurry to get to work! Gorgeous place to stop in to relax! The color scheme and leather couches did it for me. I wasn't working this time; I just stopped in because the sign read PJ's of New Orleans! I like everything, NOLA! I knew the coffee would be good and roasty with a nutty flavor! I didn't get the beignets or the other many scrumptious pastries calling my name. Only because I had just left the orthodontist, but I will be back in a few days to get my beignets and more. Weird interaction with server. I ordered my coffee, one of the new items, and the server insisted on making me try the syrup before he made my drink. He proceed to go on about it being an acquired taste. As this was going on the manager came over to ask the reasoning behind me wanting the syrup. Matcha lovers listen, PJ's has the best matcha hands down!!! I've tried local coffee shops, Starbucks, dunkin, and even Dutch bros and the matcha does not compare. It's seriously my favorite. I've also tried a few of their breakfast sandwiches and they are equally delicious. The service is always always friendly. I really love this place. If I had to give a thumbs down for anything, it'd be the drive thru and the ice cubes. The drive thru is that of an old bank so it's hard to maneuver and most times you are way too far from the window to receive your order. Secondly, the ice cubes are on the larger side. When you order an iced drink, the ice cubes take up majority of the cup and there's not much liquid inside the cup. These are all things not within the business's control so I'll give them an overall five star rating. I'll be back for sure! read more

I have gone to this PJ's a few times now, so I can say they consistently provide good customer service and high quality food and beverages. The most recent time I went, I had a turkey sandwich and egg sandwich, which was delicious. It was a good sized portion and it was nice and hot. Perfect for a cold day. I also ordered a cold brew mocha with sweet cold foam. I decided to treat myself even further, so I had it topped with whipped cream. lol needless to say, this was also delicious. The ONLY thing I have any kind of issue with regarding this PJ's is the poor design of the drive thru. If you have a larger vehicle like I do, be very careful when you use their drive thru. It's very oddly shaped and you could easily damage your car just trying to pull up to the window if you're not being mindful and careful. read more

Unfortunately, not a great experience today. I definitely understand that they just opened and there's kinks and growing pains that need to be worked out with that. I just don't think they were quite ready to open yet. First, this is in a really weird building. It looks like it used to be a bank or something. You wouldn't know it was there if you weren't actively looking for it and the drive thru set up is really funky. I don't know if it's the speaker at the menu board or the headset but we had to repeat ourselves 10 times to the girl taking our order. She kept apologizing and saying she couldn't hear us and it just made things really really awkward. Once we finally got our order placed and pulled up to the window, we heard the same situation happening with the car behind us. Both my husband & I got coffee that was wrong. I got an iced birthday cake latte and it tastes like bitter coffee with a splash of milk. There's no possible way this has any flavor in it & especially not birthday cake. My husband got a cold brew with sweet cream foam & they didn't put his foam on it. His coffee was basically water with a splash of coffee. I don't think they actually know how to make the coffees on their menu. I'll give them another try when they've been open longer, but it'll definitely be a while. I would've gone inside and asked to have it fixed, but the drive thru took so long I didn't have time to continue waiting before work. My daughter and I were volunteering across the street at the museum and saw the sign for PJs New Orleans coffee. And of course we had to go look. And we found them. Beignets. Excellent friendly service by the staff. We had the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. It was perfectly balanced with egg, melty cheese and smoky tasting bacon. I can't stress enough how flaky, fluffy and buttery the biscuit was....FABULOUS!! The shop is quaint with a French flair to it. I forgot to mention they serve fresh made beignets! Stuck in the area for a couple of hours on a rainy night and looking for something sweet, we found PJ's about 15 mins before closing time, and arrived a full 9 mins before closing. We asked if they'd still serve us, fully understanding if it was too late. Wow, on the customer service! The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and serviceable. Thank you for being willing to serve us on such a tight timeline! We walked out at closing time on the dot with piping hot DELICIOUSLY FLAKY beignets, a perfectly soft and warm chocolate croissant, and hot and iced coffees that were just the right amount of sweetness and coffeenes. I ordered a latte with almond milk and 3 beignets. The latte was silky with a little froth, the beignets were hot and dusted with powder sugar. I've been here maybe 3 or 4 times and this place is really good... when they get your order right. I went to pick up a coffee and breakfast however left kind of disappointed. Staff was friendly but i asked for an iced coffee and I'm assuming i was mis heard because i received a velvet ice instead. No big deal, I'll try something new and it was good.
