Iced banana bread latte!
Cameron M.

We were at the Tomball Farmers Market and walked over here to check it out. Glad we did because the inside is super inviting and comfortable. Quite literally a homey feel! I got the iced banana bread latte which is something I would never get, but it was recommended and turned out really good! I'll definitely stop by this place again when I'm in the area.

Sweet Pistachio Almond iced latte.

Great coffee shop hidden behind main-street, great services and great coffee. Recommend this place for a refresher and cooling off from hot days

Did you know they have a drive-thru? If not, you should, it's been my saving grace each and…read moreeverytime I visit with the doggos. The ladies are incredibly patient. They make sure my dog(s) have pup cups, help me decifer the menu (it's huge), and everything received seems to be treated with care. Their menu is truly a world tour boasting everything from Cafe Cubano to San Sebastián cheesecake. Today I chose two items...well maybe three depending on who's counting. Their avocado toast is served as thick slice of sourdough topped with cream cheese, guac, and a fried egg (with the option of hot sauce on the side). Their key lime pie is personal sized, and great for those who are sensitive to tart. I'd say, it's a creamy cheesecake with a lime glaze providing a spritz of key lime on top. As for the third item, Linus (my dog) gives their pup cup 5 stars. That being said these folks remain a reliable and delicious-worth a return visit in my book.

However, it is obvious that the person that started Barbarossa has a great vision, and we have been going since they were just about to open their second shop. The owner provides above average products yet sadly it is almost always ruined by the incompetence of the hired staff. So I will be sharing my experience today, as well as the pattern of the most baffling interactions I have had over the last year. Today, my partner ordered the breakfast bagel (this comes with avocado), I ordered a croissant with only eggs over hard (this doesn't come with avocado according to their menu). Also it is necessary to ask for eggs over hard otherwise the egg whites will be oozing off your croissant. And I mean this with full disrespect because while cooking is a skill that requires development. How. On. Earth. Do you serve someone a raw egg? It is clearly visible, you don't need a food thermometer, it might literally be the simplest thing to cook. You can practice at home for next to nothing! When you ask for eggs for hard here, they will be close to over medium if you're lucky. Today, since they put avocado on my partners bagel I guess they decided to just add it to mine because why not? Well why not is because it's not on the menu, and I did not ask for it and I'm paying for the item I asked for. Not your random remix. Additionally, every time I order, I make sure to specify I want my matcha UNSWEET. Every time they say "ma'am it doesn't come with sweetner" and I hold my tongue because I know well enough if I don't say that, they add SWEETNER. And since my husband ordered this morning and didn't say unsweet, my Matcha ended up sweet. Once? Fine. Twice? Everyone makes mistakes. It's a drink idc. But every single time unless the customer specifies? Are these people being trained? Do they have the capacity to be trained? And sure you might be thinking wow that's harsh. So I shall share a previous experience. I wanted to purchase a lanyard, we all know a lanyard is about 20 inches long right? Well I asked to buy a lanyard in the drive thru, I was told they didn't sell lanyards, not that they were out of stock. No according to this employee they don't sell them, never have. Mind you I had just seen it in the store a few days earlier. I'm not one to argue so I acted as if it were my mistake. A few days later I stopped inside to see if they had any left in store. They had several, I took it to the register and asked to purchase the lanyard. She said "you mean our dog leashes!" ........... I thought she was pulling a little joke. She wasn't. I'm sorry have you seen someone walk a dog? Have you ever seen a dog leash shorter than 2 feet? Have you ever seen a dog? She genuinely begins to argue with me because she can't find the button for dog leashes in the system. (DUH girl! Because the company you work at doesn't sell dog leashes. How do I know that and you don't?) The manager walked over and chose the LANYARD button to which this young lady says snarkily "oh I guess it is a lanyard". The manager looked bewildered at her and I thought surely he will now realize how lacking his staff is. However that wasn't the case. So I beg. Please train them. Fire them. Replace them with robots please. I don't care. I'm even happy to give them gentle instruction on how to do their job if you'll at least teach them not to talk back. Don't assume they know what a lanyard, or a croissant, or a cup is because it just might be to the failure of your company. Bonus: a lot of these kids seem to not know that the source of sugar is what they call "flavoring" :) If I don't want sugar, it feels like common sense that I don't want vanilla with sugar in it? Sincerely written as a person that supports smaller coffee shops in hopes that they succeed over chains.

Naturally, this meant it was a drive thru kind of day. As a bonus, I scored a chocolate chip cookie because whoever said chocolate chip cookies aren't for breakfast, lied. Like before, the customer service couldn't be better. The delicious treats were an added bonus. Everything was fresh, but the ooey gooey cinnamon roll (warmed by Britt's) took the cake. The extra cinnamon butter results in a soft, gooey, buttery treat. Zero crunchy edges, zero pieces of unfrosted roll, just a full roll of cinnamon, butter, bread and frosting that somehow avoids both over crisping and sogginess to create the perfect pillowy, luscious bites! If you have a cinnamon roll lover in your life, gift them this cinnamon roll!

Everything we tried tasted like it had been made that morning, and you could tell there was real attention to quality. The croissants were incredibly flaky with those beautiful buttery layers that practically melted apart. The cookie croissant was easily the star of the visit--warm, gooey, packed with cookie butter, and just enough chocolate to keep it from being overly sweet. The cinnamon roll was soft, rich, and generously frosted without becoming overwhelming. The s'mores cookie was perfectly crisp around the edges, soft in the center, and topped with toasted marshmallow and Hershey chocolate that made it feel nostalgic without being gimmicky. We also grabbed a carrot cake cupcake that was light, moist, and beautifully decorated, plus a few iced coffees and a refreshing fruit tea that paired perfectly with all the pastries. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was bright, clean, and welcoming. It was the kind of place where you can sit with friends over coffee or grab a box of pastries to take home (which you'll probably wish you'd done after the first bite). We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu. If you're anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in--just don't expect to leave with only one pastry.

The fruit desserts were SO good! The white chocolate went perfectly with the tart fruit filling and balanced everything out really well. I went around 2 PM this week, and it was super calm inside. It honestly seems like a really nice place to sit and get some work done while enjoying a treat. The service was also phenomenal! I'll definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the mood for something sweet. Definitely recommend checking them out!

The cafe itself is cute and on the smaller side. There isn't a ton of seating, but there's enough to settle in and enjoy a treat. The staff gave us such a warm welcome and were quick to help us navigate all the options which there were PLENTY of. We decided to experiment a little and grabbed the lemon, dot gelato cake, and several of the mini iced treats. Now visually?! 10/10. These treats are absolutely beautiful and almost too cute to disturb. Taste-wise, though... this is where they lost us a little. The texture of the lemon just wasn't quite for me personally. The gelato treat was adorable, but it was so frozen that getting through all of its layers and really enjoying the flavors together was a bit difficult. The dot cake was probably our winner of the day and the one we enjoyed most. Overall, I'm still glad we stopped in and gave the viral treats a try. The cafe was cute, the presentation was beautiful, and the people were genuinely lovely it just turned out that the desserts we chose were more of a "fun to experience once" than a "we need to come back for these immediately" situation for us. I think we'll file Cafe Ninda under experiment accomplished
