We had a reservation for 1030, but they didn't have a table for us. Isn't that the purpose of a reservation? So we enjoyed a conversation amongst ourselves outside for about 30 minutes. Then we got our table, and we were not greeted with a smile or even a "welcome to our establishment" from the young man who brought us the menus. Our server was pleasant and sweet and she seemed readily available. The food took about 45 minutes to an hour to get. At one point, I was wondering if they had to run to the store to get eggs or bacon or something like that. My scrambled eggs were over done and there were char marks on them, and I only mention this because each serving was close to $20 or more. I expected a much softer egg. The bacon was cold and although I did like the crunchiness of it, I'm not much for cold bacon. Side note, I never send anything back. The hash browns were spot on and I absolutely loved them. The biscuit and gravy was also very good and I liked the soft fluffy texture of their biscuit. I'm giving three stars because I enjoyed my time in there with my company and I also enjoyed a couple of the items on my plate. I have given this place two chances since they have been reopened and I doubt I will go back for a third time. I sure hope they can improve their deficiencies because I am really pulling for them to make it. read more

Well I'm happy to say, after receiving a answer on Yelp from the newest owner that he has reopened and would like if we could give them a try. My wife and I visited Sunday for a late breakfast. We were welcomed in and seated immediately. The menu was filled with very tempting items, my wife chose the original Benedict and I chose the Chili Relleno omelette and we could not resist sharing a pancake. Both of our breakfasts were very tasty and the eggs on her Benedict were perfect. Now the pancake, it was wonderful, I know it's a pancake right but this pancake tasted great! Our server was very friendly and attentive and could answer any questions about menu items. Randy the owner stopped by and told us about their Monday night dinners that will have a special menu with a different theme each Monday. We plan to try it out this Monday. We are happy to say this is again a great place to eat and with the addition of upcoming dinner nights it's getting even better. Well worth a try. read more

Had dinner there last night and it was uninspired. My wife had meatloaf that looked like two blobs of hamburger with bbq sauce. I had fried chicken that was served as two rectangular cubes that was mostly breading and looked like it came out of a box. $50 wasted but will not return. read more

Small place with great food. I had the California eggs Benedict which was absolutely delicious! Eggs were perfect and runny as they should be. He had chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy and said it was perfect. Service was good even though they forgot our water. read more

We visited Denis' Country Kitchen last weekend for lunch, having heard it is under new ownership and had a great meal. The food was tasty with sizeable portions. Lots of choice on the menu too! Staff were attentive and kept my coffee cup filled without having to ask. As with any restaurant that's had a recent change, there was a slight back up in the kitchen, but the owner came around and apologized for the delay and made sure we were good. Great customer service!! Best hash browns I've had in a long time! The interior of the location is nicely done and I felt comfortable in the surroundings. This is one of my favorite places to have breakfast, the decor is so warming, and makes you feel right at home. I used to live in Morada and would come here with my mom all the time for our favorite dish, the chicken fried steak and eggs. I've been moved away to the bay area for about six years, and just recently came up to visit this last weekend with my boyfriend, I took him around to some of my favorite places to eat, and this was definitely where we stopped to eat breakfast!! Still craving the chicken and waffles!!!!! More PLEASE!!!! Took my dad and husband there for Fathers Day brunch on Sunday. This place has delicious food and awesome service. We are still craving the chicken and waffles and eggs benedict. Next time I am there I will ask for extra sauce for the eggs benedict since it is SO GOOD! The food is fresh and can tell that they put care into the dishes they make. The manager is very friendly and helpful. We did have a little wait but that was because of the holiday. We are glad that we went there since there is more of a comfort feel to it. My son has asked that I order the chicken and waffles to go today too! That's why we put in a review. Came in for breakfast on a Tuesday. Looking at the menu we were like "wow prices are a little higher than usual." Once we got our food we said "it's worth those extra dollars." Update: Once I left the below review of not being super satisfied with my experience on Yelp the owner saw my review that same day and contacted me via Yelp. He was extremely professional and apologized for my experience. He simply did not make any excuses which I like and invited me back in and give Denis' another try. A few weeks later I was back in Lodi and took him up on his offer, but this time it was for lunch ( I apologize but I am a little behind on reviews so this is somewhat dated) Either way this was a totally different experience and a total upgrade from last time. I have also come back for breakfast and again 100% satisfied. I also never told the owner that I was back which was a test to see if this would par up to all the reviews left and again I would definitely recommend Denis' for lunch or breakfast. Thank you for being the kind of business owner to truly care about your customers... Came here for breakfast this morning based on all the reviews and was really looking forward to the food and experience. Pulling up the parking for the place is a little challenging but that's fine and even the checkin process is cool and the free coffee out is a nice extra touch while you wait. Once inside after a 15 minute wait we sat for a few minutes longer than I thought we should have to be helped but gave us a little longer to go over the menu. Either way this place has a ton of selection from breakfast to lunch and from omelettes, scrambles, waffles, club sandwiches, waffles , burgers etc....and the list goes on. My drawbacks on this place where the fact even though the reviews are awesome my food was just ok. I ordered an avocado and bacon omelette plus added spinach but when my omelette came out no spinach. Normally I would have said something but it literally took almost 35+ minutes just to get an omelette so I wasn't about to have it remade. Also I ordered a side a bacon and a little turn off for me was the fact that normally you get 3-4 prices based off the extra $$$ and what I received was 2 of the smallest pieces of bacon. I was sitting in my Truck at the Love's Travel Stop searching for a place to have breakfast as this is my favorite food. I came across "Denis' Country Kitchen", and noticed it had been voted "Best breakfast" in Lodi, California. My interest was peaked, so I had to give the Country Kitchen a try. I ordered the "Country Benedict", accompanied with a generous portion of perfectly grilled hash browns, and a short stack of pancakes. I was not disappointed in any way, as everthing was just delicious!!! It was so good that I went back and had breakfast Sunday morning as well... The Young Ladies serving the customers are a breath of fresh air with their prompt service, smiling faces, and joyful attitudes. If there is a downside, it would be the price, however, given the portion sizes, service, and delicious food, still well worth it in my book!!! As a Truck Driver plying the Nations Highways, this is the type of "Gem" we search for to make "Life on the road" a little more baerable!!! If doubt there is a better breakfast in Lodi, California!!! Bacon, bacon, bacon! One of the best comfort foods around and Denis' Country Kitchen knows how to do bacon justice! Their bacon is thick, perfectly crispy and delicious, it's quite possibly the best thing on their menu! I think that every breakfast establishment's star rating should be influenced by the quality of their bacon. I am being generous with my 4 star review based on this. Now, something to go with your bacon... how about their homemade biscuits and gravy? Not the best I've ever had but not too bad either. A light and fluffy biscuit topped with creamy country sausage gravy. I add a little splash of hot sauce and I'm good to go! You may need to follow your meal with a mid-morning nap, but your taste buds will surely thank you. If you're in the mood for a good omelette, they have plenty to choose from and they are huge! If omelettes aren't your thing, try the crab Benedict. The crab Benedict is generous pieces of crab and poached eggs served over English muffins and topped with hollandaise sauce. A nice alternative to the traditional bacon and eggs. Most of the breakfasts come with hash browns or house potatoes and a choice of toast. Of course, you can add a side of bacon to any meal. I feel that the prices are a little on the high side for breakfast and the service is kind of slow. I recently went for breakfast at an off-time on a weekday and I still ended up waiting over 20 minutes for my meal. If you plan to go on the weekend there is often a wait for a table and there's usually an even longer wait to get your food. read more

I have found my new favorite breakfast place in Lodi! This very small, no bathroom (but that's ok), homey, cozy, local restaurant has the best crab benedict I've ever had in my life. Considering it's not located right on the ocean and in this small town, that's a big deal! There were pretty big chunks of crab layered on top of a soft english muffin, smothered under perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. And of course, then we add country potatoes and I forget to breathe, because I'm shoveling food in. The hollandaise sauce was so creamy and wonderful that I was sopping it up with my country potatoes. (What ketchup?!?) The crab was such a surprise for me. I thought it would taste frozen and have that old "fishy" taste but it didn't! The dish did have a nice seafood flavor but didn't overpower the breakfast motif. Country potatoes were nice and crispy and they served a huge portion along with the crab benedict. You can tell a lot of locals dine here. I observed staff referring to a lot them by name like they were frequent fliers. They were really great to our table of 9 at a busy time of the day. Our waitress didn't mess up on our orders and had everything organized! She was able to keep up running around from table to table (poor thing)! I never ran out of coffee or water! Only downsides are: they don't have a bathroom, restaurant is small so there is high potential for snooze, you lose and the price was kind of steep for the benedict (my bill with coffee came out to $18.01). But the food was so good that it outweighs all the downsides. I'm already salivating for another one... read more

Remember what Donna, one of the owners, wrote to me in a Yelp message? "We took your advice a long time ago about more crab and have lowered our prices on a lot of items...". Well..., gosh darn it.... the Crab Omelet was not one of the items! (The Crab Omelet has been raised in price to $12.55... Gulp!) I would go so far as to say... Denis' Country Kitchen has not lowered prices on anything! There is a "Stimulus" Menu, though, on every table, Green in color. But, when you see "Half" this or that or "1/4 lb Burgers"... you're just reluctant to order from "that" menu expecting child-sized portions... even though everything on the "Stimulus" menu is under $7.00. On the menu... Even though I did not order the Crab Omelet for $12.55, I did order my fave Breakfast today... Joe's Special (** $10.55) The Joe's Special was under Denis' "Best Seller 'Breakfast" Favorites" portion of the menu. 3 Whipped Farm Fresh Eggs gently scrambled with Seasoned Ground Sirloin, Fresh Mushrooms and Spinach. And a choice of Hash Browns or Country Style Potatoes... chose the Country Potatoes. The Chef went off the description printed on the menu in this version of Joe's Original... Rather than Ground Sirloin which was on the menu description, the meat was quarter inch chunks of Beef from what was probably a Breakfast Steak. The Chef, in this Scramble, took out the concoction from the Grill the exact time I would have... Eggs not too well-done. Served on a 7" x 6" plate. The Country Potatoes (**** 1/2) were very good, though. Cubed Potatoes in 3/8" chunks fried with slivers of Green & Red Bell Peppers and slivers of Onions. Very good. Your Side could be 1 Pancake, 2 Pieces Biscuits & Gravy, Fresh Fruit Cup, Cottage Cheese & Peach, or Toast. Chose Side of Biscuits & Gravy (** 1/2 included with Entree) 2 3 1/2" x 1" high Biscuits (which was more like Cake than a Biscuit) with a Pork Sausage-based White Gravy. Gravy kind of bland, could not be improved with quite a bit of Black Pepper sprinkled on by me... did not want to use Salt. Why just 2-Stars? Unless this version of Joe's Special is the way that Denis' prepares it everyday... I had a suspicion always in the back of my mind that I had a "returned" Breakfast Steak from someone's order. The Chunks of Beef were very, very Well Done... just cooked too much for an improvised Scramble. Think of it this way... if you owned Denis', would you replace Hamburger with a Steak? Deep-set suspicions about the Beef... Just thinking about it can make you squirm or belch... Why does it seem I always get the "Mystery Meat"? Denis... this will teach you a lesson... retrieve the permission from the customer before you start replacing this with that, and that with this. Some people might like an overcooked Strip Steak in preference over some Hamburger. Not just me... Iced Tea (**** $1.99) The server brought out more Iced Tea in small carafes. Value (**) Denis' Country Kitchen is STILL $1.00 to $2.00 more than most Breakfast restaurants in and around Lodi, despite the increase of prices at other restaurants. And, it seems to me, the portions are slightly less compared to my previous visit and compared to other restaurants... I have a distinct feeling that Denis' Country Kitchen desires to be Denis' Bistro in the near future. I asked my waitress if Denis' is going to expand it's hours to include Dinner... "Don't know....". The restaurant's interior decoration seems re-done and is brighter and lighter in mood and atmosphere. The waiters are dressed in French-inspired tuxes with dark Pinstripe Pants... very unlike a Breakfast-Lunch Diner which was the original concept of this restaurant. In summary... Denis' has gone from High-Priced Lotta-Food to Even Higher Prices (minus a few things from the Stimulus menu...) with Average-Sized Portions. I think I'll stop this re-visiting of previously low-rated restaurants, despite the invitations of the owner... This hasn't gone very well for me.. BTW... If I were a random Yelper, I'd be wary of all the 5-Star reviews on Denis' Country Kitchen. Why? Alyson sent me a message not long after my initial review stating she was the daughter of the owners and that the Crab Omelet recipe had been changed. ... AND Sarah had been BFF on Yelp with Alyson not so long ago... Alyson must have re-written that review of hers a dozen times in the last few years. Just a word of advice... And... Six reviews have been filtered out as being deemed "suspicious" by Yelp. That's over 1/4 of all the reviews! To me, that is an inordinate number of reviews... for essentially a strip-mall restaurant way off the beaten track... Just my opinion... I love one of the reviews... Second time coming to this place since I work around the area. The first time I had to wait about 30-45 minutes for my garden omelette lol. Second time was a bit better, faster service. Don't get upgrade for the fruit cup though, very tiny. And IF it's true about liquid eggs, that's such a shame because they charge upwards to $12-14 for omelettes. Suggestions to the owner: a restaurant that truly flourishes requires the heart and soul (I appreciate all the religious cues btw). If you were a customer yourself what would make your experience eating at a restaurant 5 stars (food quality, service, etc)? Upholding certain standards may mean less profitability, but giving a little can result to gaining a lot more. Just my 2 cents :) read more

Tried the chicken fried tritip. The waitress said that it was really good and that I would like it. She was right. I thought there was a possibility that it would be tough and chewy, but it was perfectly medium rare, soft and juicy. It was well seasoned and I did enjoy it very much. Came with two eggs that were cooked perfectly. I skipped the bread and got a bowl of fruit. I would gladly eat here again when I'm in the area. So I still really like the food here.. but I have come to a conclusion.. Denis, you are just plain cheap!!!!! Every single blasted time we come here.. it doesn't matter whether it is early for breakfast, late for breakfast or early for lunch.. why is it that we are never acknowledged until a table is ready?? Actually, there was an empty table when we arrived, but we were not spoken to for about 15 minutes. I had time to excuse myself and go outside and sit on the bench twice to play with my phone. Hello! Someone at least say hi. Jeeeez. Why is it that every single time we come here, the place is always full, but there is never more than 2 people out on the floor? Could it be that you are cheap, and wiling to let your servers run around like crazy chickens, making some tables wait forever, and having some people come in to dine, only to leave because they aren't even acknowledged? Yeah, we stuck around.. because we are loyal. But the people that came after us left. Other than the ridiculous experience we had waiting to get a table, everything else was fine, as to be expected. Also, the service was great the waitress kept my coffee topped off and checked in on me multiple times. My boyfriend, a Lodi native, really talked Denis' Country Kitchen up. He claimed it was an amazing breakfast place. So, I was pretty excited to give this place a try. We arrived at Denis' around 11 A.M. on a Saturday morning to a fifteen minute wait for a party of three. The wait seemed to go by fast, although we waited outside in the November heat due to the small size of the restaurant's interior. Service was incredibly friendly, although the wait for the food seemed to take a bit longer than usual for a breakfast place. The waitress apologized, claiming a number of burger orders had been put in before our food. No problem there. I ordered a four cheese omelette, which was very tasty and filling. The omelette came along with hash browns and toast, which were both pretty good as well. Denis' menu is a bit simplistic, but the prices are fair for the amount of food you get. I wouldn't say this is the best breakfast place I've ever been to, and I think I need to let my boyfriend experience some of the Bay Area's better breakfast locations, but this was definitely a cute place to drop by. read more

As good as it gets in Lodi!! The pictures don't do this breakfast kitchen justice! The inside is cozy but as you walk in you feel you've step in a modern southern kitchen. Very Nice. There is no waiting area so waiting to be seated can be a bit crammed. Denis has a ton of breakfast choices, specials and old signatures dishes. I had the southern special omelet with pork, WOW!!! The huge omelet was covered in flavorful green salsa boy was it good! Country fired potatoes. They even had a tamale omelet that I was very tempted to try. Maybe next time. Service was great, it seemed like all the waitresses worked together with different waitresses coming to the table to ask if we needed anything. A+ The prices are pretty reasonable for being the amount of food you get. Will defiantly be back to this kitchen. read more

I have to give YELP credit on this find. We stayed in Stockton last night and wanted to get a good (not greasy) breakfast before driving to go fishing at Lake Camanche. We refused to go to IHOP, Denny's, etc. Denis' Country Kitchen was exactly what we hoped for: a local breakfast spot with great service and quality food. The people who work here are kind, attentive and actually want to be here and while the food did take 20 minutes the it was cooked exactly how we ordered it, wasn't greasy and tasted good. Our bacon was crispy, the eggs tasted fresh and the toast wasn't swimming in butter. All around, this is a great spot for a good breakfast. Thumbs up, guys! read more

We have always enjoyed breakfast here, and are continued repeat customers. On Sunday we went in at about 1:00pm. They close at 2. We ordered, and waited. The food took quite a while I felt, since it wasn't very busy. When the server brought our food to the table she said "I'm sorry".. but we didn't really understand why. I now think it's because she forgot to grab our food. When I bit into my biscuits & gravy it was cold. Bit into my eggs and they were even colder. I asked her to heat them up for me. She brought it back. The bacon was now super over cooked. (My fault) I didn't complain. The eggs were hot, so I ate those. The biscuit had now gotten hard from the microwave and when I dipped into the gravy it was cold. I never complain at a restaurant and I promise I am not rude. I asked her if she could just bring me a waffle instead because of the trouble with the biscuits. She really was stumped and looked at me confused. She said that this breakfast came with biscuits & gravy and she couldn't just change it. She would have to ask a manager. I didn't want to complain, I just wanted something to eat. So I declined and said it was fine. She then said okay and walked off. She brought the check and never asked us if we wanted refills or anything. I really didn't feel I was mean, and I am sorry if I was. I was just upset because I was hungry and we have high expectations of this place. When we went to pay, I asked if we can get the breakfast removed since I only ate bacon & eggs. Another girl said only the manager can do that, and he wasn't there. So they had asked for the owner Denis. He came up and listened. He said he could give me a waffle but at this point I just wanted to leave. I was embarrassed & hated even having to argue this point. He removed it. And was nice and said no problem at all. Then when he walked away, the two girls charged me for the breakfast & took 20% off because they said they needed to charge me for the eggs & bacon I ate. What was the point of bringing him up then? The breakfast went from $12.. to $9.80 for eggs& bacon. This was all weird to me! I paid and left. I guess we won't be coming back for awhile. Don't let this stop you from going. Use to love this place and they had great food.. It was one of our family favorites for years. Had several really negative interactions with servers and other staff as well as food quality issues.. Stockton is a wasteland for breakfast restaurants, for the most part. With the exception of one place that has a killer chicken fried steak, everything else the Stockton family says is wonderful is actually dull, dull, dull. That is why, when we are in town, we like to sneak up to Lodi. This little diner has renewed our faith in eating out for breakfast. However, I can only attest for those things we have had the pleasure to try: crab benedict, Tijuana sandwich, and Pork chops. We really enjoyed them. Thus, we shall return. read more

They serve breakfast and lunch.,Great food. Eggs Benedict are the best you will find. Only problem for me is they are only open till 11 during the week and 12 weekends.,If I work at 6 am I can't get there. Sunday is the only day I get a shot. Love the food read more
