HORRIBLE SERVICE! Made a reservation for 5, got crammed into a seating which would barely seat even 4 comfortably. We were slammed in between 2 other tables. So UNCOMFORTABLE!! Waited FOREVER for our food. This was Father's Day 2023. SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! I ordered the Senior Scramble which was $1 less than the regular Scramble (same ingredients), but more than 1/2 the size smaller than the original. Really?? We told server we were splitting the Senior Scramble, they should have advised against it, letting us know that it really isn't even enough food for 1 person, if they are hungry. This company did switch hands just a little while back, but the only big difference we noticed was that the prices on some of the items changed...but then again, haven't prices changed in a negative way almost across our country these days? The service is pretty good as they swing by to check on your drinks, they take your order, they bring your food within a reasonable waiting time, and they check back about your food and your refill of drink status quite a bit. I am a huge fan of the country fried steak, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. I also had the option to get toast, a bowl of fruit, or a biscuit with gravy on the side. I chose the biscuit and gravy and I am SOOOOOOO glad I did! That biscuit was one of the most yummiest (yes, that is not grammatically correct, but who cares because the biscuit was definitely the most yummiest) biscuit I have ever had! I was even a nice guy and had my wife try it...God knows I didn't want to share...but I also wanted to know if I was just hungry or if this biscuit was just that darn good! She agreed!! We have been to this establishment probably about six or seven times over the years we have lived in Stockton and we have yet to have a bad meal, bad service, or a long wait for anything. I was in town, and my GPS found this place for me. I liked the way it looked, so I went on in. I had The "Joe Scramble", (eggs, hamburger, spinach and onion), and the home fries on the side, also with onion, and a biscuit without gravy. The people were friendly, and the food tasted good. So... Why only two stars?? First of all, it was a bit pricey. $19 after tip, and that was with the senior discount. Secondly, and more importantly, I had to stop several times on the way home to Sacramento with a case of diarahea. I hadn't eaten anything anywhere else that would have caused the problem. Maybe my system didn't agree with the food, but I still don't think I will be back. read more

My husband and I visited this quaint little bistro for a breakfast date. Both of us enjoyed our meal very much! I had a Denver omelette and he had the homemade corned beef hash. The coffee was from Farmer Brothers (the best!) and they made a great mimosa. The service was perfectly pleasant and our server went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our experience. I really like the food here - and heard they were struggling right now - so I've been coming back as often as I can. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time I've been turned away... apparently the time that they close isn't actually when they close... they stop seating people (or at least they stop seating me) well before 11am. I've also witnessed others get turned away if they arrive before 11am but the staff feel it's a little too close to 11am. SERIOUSLY?! Doesn't really seem like they are too worried about staying in business if they aren't interested in staying open for diners! To add injury to insult... 3 women walked into the cafe after I got into my car... and must have been seated - seeing as they haven't walked back out. Not sure why it was only too close to closing for ME to eat, but not others...? Wow. Never again... they have lost another customer... though they clearly must not care! read more

We went to Denis' Country Kitchen for Mother's Day brunch. The new owner Randy greeted us with a smile as my daughter I found our booth for the afternoon. The coffee was a hit and the strawberry lemonade was approved by my daughter. The restaurant will add more selections to the menu, and the outdoor patio will be ready soon just in time for summer dining during the day, and into the night as they plan to expand their hours. The brunch was a good assortment of pancakes, waffles, eggs benedict, omelets made to order, a nice selection of breakfast meats, and pastries. The environment was just right for Mother's Day brunch- not too noisy, guests did not feel rushed, the energy was one of happiness, family, and celebration! Well... we initially were going to go to Ruby's bakery for breakfast and we changed our minds last minute, biggest mistake we made that day. We arrived at Denis' (now called Randy's bistro, but everything still says Denis'... very odd), we were greeted by a woman serving us, who brought over some complimentary Brazilian lemonade and a pastry. I was slightly confused by this because we weren't at a Brazilian breakfast place... Then we were brought water that had floaties in it... I was so concerned because we weren't told if this was lemon or what the heck it was, so we didn't drink the water. When we ordered the food it came out one plate at a time. The server let us know that the "he got rid of the heat lamps", I think the "he" she was referring to is the new owner?? So those who got their food first had to wait until the rest of the table got theirs, so we could all pray and eat together. As we were waiting for the rest of the food we noticed a little bit of a loud conversation being had with someone in the kitchen with the waiters, it seemed as though they were being scolded about the way they were writing orders... once all the food arrived it was sooooo unseasoned, and that made it very hard to enjoy. When the check came we saw an 18% gratuity charge that "will be added to parties of 6 or more"... our bill for 6 people came out to $135 and we were very disappointed in our visit. We felt bamboozled as the place we intended to eat at was "Denis' Country Kitchen", but were given a togo menu titled "Randy's Bistro". The restaurant is dusty and dirty, and the silverware even felt dirty. We had seen a review from someone saying, "watch as the waiter handling your toast with bare hands is also handling the cash/cards while people are checking out as well"... this is unfortunately true. so sad to see a place that was once pretty good turn to this. read more

We had a wonderful time at Randy's Bistro on Lockeford street in Lodi, Ca. The meal was great. There were 5 of us and we made 5 selection. The Fried Chicken was outstanding. Crispy, tender and juicy. A great choice for sure. Chicken Pot Pie. Delicious and a so filling. Brought home 1/2 for tomorrow. French Dip beef sandwich that was so tender and so flavorful and a very large serving with French fries. Another special dish was Corned Beef and Cabbage dish with potatoes and carrots, absolutely delicious. Our last choice was the barbecue chicken with roasted veggies and potatoes. Not only was the food delicious, the prices were great. You can actually tie your family and have a great dinner without breaking the bank. Most of all, the owner and staff were so very friendly and personable. They made sure we got our dishes in a timely manner and the service was wonderful. My husband had been wanting to try this place, before it was Randy's Bistro, he thought we were going to Denis Country Kitchen. We are not from Lodi, but we come to Lodi often...we had no idea it been changed over....and for awhile Although its Randy's Bistro...the menu is still Denis Country Kitchen. We both ordered the chicken fried steak. The meal was decent at best. The steak was way under seasoned and the gravy was just ok. Eggs were good. Country potatoes were not fresh, they were frozen, but cooked well and the portion was super small...hardly any onions and peppers in my husbands potatoes. The orange juice was terrible. They claim its not from a carton...lol...that BS was from a carton...an old, expired carton. It was bitter, warm, no flavor, and just tasted nasty. My kids are juice drinkers and they didnt even want it. I have had REAL, fresh squeezed OJ in the past and that was not it. The reasons for the 3 stars are...the waitress was nice, the strawberry lemonade was on point, the lumpia was good, and my kids ate there breakfast. read more

This place is always busy so prepare for a wait. We had 7 people come in so we waited a little longer than normal but they were very accommodating. I havent lived in the area for a few years so this was my first visit in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised to see a decor update. As always the food was DELICIOUS! My south west omelet was to die for. My friend ordered the vegetarian omelet which is HUGE. Everyone enjoyed their meal and there was nothing but happy full bellies around our table. Just happened to be in the area and wife was shopping at the scrapbooking store. My wife mentioned she had been to the country kitchen years ago and I had never been so we thought we'd check it out. I'm glad we did. Doesn't look like much from the outside but once inside, it's nice!. Very clean and fresh looking. Just found out it has a new owner, Randy who is also the chef who is very personable. Between him and our server, Markie we were made to feel right at home. This is a mixed review because I would challenge you to find a better avocado, feta, bacon omelet anywhere in Lodi (the boys at the griddle have a special touch), but their service leaves much to be desired. Firstly-answer your phone. Secondly-get off your phone. Lastly-there are a million reasons why you have the stay that you have, but I work at a small business as well, and the fact that you ignore your customers and do as little as possible to serve them suggests that your food is good, and that's why you're still in business. Good breakfast menu with great homemade food. From omelettes to pancakes, there is a large variety of breakfast items to choose from. The service is great. We were seated immediately and our order was taken quickly. Food is cooked to order and fast to the table. The downside is the prices are a little high. From $12 to $17 for omelettes and around $9 for only eggs and potatoes and toast, a table of 4 set us back around $50. The other thing I wish that would have been different is they offer no meat alternative other than pork to bacon or sausage. It's nice to have a selection of chicken or turkey sausage or bacon for those who don't eat pork. Denis' has a good menu, good tasting food and good service, but be ready to spend a bit for basic breakfast items. read more
