We stopped by the nearby outlets on our way home from Monterey. It was close to dinnertime and we found Ramen 101 on Yelp and decided to stop by given the positive reviews and nearby location. They have a covered area which seats about 20 right outside. You order inside, they provide a number and bring food to your table. Wife has the tonkatsu ramen. I tasted the soup which was good, but was better with a little siracha kick and maybe could have used a little more salt. She ate it all so I guess no complaints there. I had the Hawaiian chicken rice plate. They were very generous with the chicken, maybe two full chicken thighs. Well cooked, but again could use a little more seasoning. I add some siracha and soy sauce which lifted everything up a notch. I will say that underseasoning is better than over so erring on that side is not so bad. Overall, I would say 3-1/2 stars, but rounding up as it seems to be a small locally owned spot which I like supporting. It would be a solid four stars if they upped the seasoning just a notch. read more

Ordered my meal to go as I was driving there (10 minutes) away and they had it ready as I arrived. I opted for the black garlic ramen which I typically do when it's offered anywhere and it was pretty tasty but also bland at the same time. I've had ramen that has flavor on their ingredients but this bowl, all the flavor was in the broth only. The portions were pretty generous so I'll definitely come back if I'm in the area but I wouldn't drive out of my way to have ramen 101. read more

Last weekend my family and I decided to eat ramen at this place. The food is awesome in any ramen 101 place, But at this particular restaurant we got treated extremely poorly by the women that works at the register. We came in and I told my older aunt and uncle to sit down while my husband and I were in line to order. She literally yelled at us in a very rude tone saying that nobody could sit down unless they've ordered first. We've gone to several other ramen 101 restaurants and we've never been told anything by any staff but for some reason this lady was very rude. I wouldn't have been writing this review if she would've told us in a polite matter but she was the complete opposite of polite. read more

It's just ok. Priced well, very fast food to table service. Bottled water $3.30 yikes

I'll give it 2.5 stars - it's basically like fast food ramen so lower your expectations. If you can get ramen at McDonalds this what it would be. The lumpia and musubi look and taste like play dough that was made by a 5 year old. Not all ramen created equal I guess. Mine was literally made in 2 minutes topped with a cold hard boiled egg. Not a runny ramen egg that you'd expect. read more

Got the miso ramen with medium spice and sad to say it lacked a lot of flavor. The miso ramen was almost like diluted. My friend got the tonkotsu ramen which was also the same!! We also got a side of gyoza and that was prolly better then our meals. Only good side was how fast we got our food. The staff was not pleasant, no hello or thank you. That's my reason for the 2 stars!! I won't be coming back to this place :( read more

Not Japanese Ramen. It was ok But over fried Karage is not Karage it was more like chicken crisps. Noodles were all stuck together in the bottom of the bowl. Flavor wasn't bad but could be a lot better. Hopefully if you eat in it is better. read more

Decent ramen that gets the job done. Quick service and nice vibe to the place. Broth could be a bit more flavorful but can't complain at this price point. read more

I walked in on a Saturday night and was greeted right away with a bright smile. The cashier with the black hair was super helpful. She was patient and answered all my questions! The food came out fast and it was delicious. Definitely a go to meal after shopping at the outlets! read more

I have been wanting to try this place after seeing the great reviews and finally had the opportunity to try it after shopping at the outlets. My sister, daughter, and I were ready for some ramen and bbq! We ordered lumpia, a combo plate with chicken katsu & bbq chicken, and (2) orders of tonkatsu ramen. Total was $54 before tip. Once we paid we found a table and waited for our food to arrive. The lumpia comes out and its looking a bit pale in color and no sauce. They gave us 2 packets of sweet and sour sauce. Who eats lumpia with sweet & sour?! I asked for sweet chili & they came back with something similar. Lumpia was no good, I have had better frozen from the Asian market. The bbq rice plate comes out & my sister had ordered it with no mac salad, all rice. She got all mac no rice. When she them they gave her a bowl of rice. Our ramens come out and we were ready to dig in! After a few sips of the broth, disappointment sets in. The broth had hardly any flavor. No depth, kind of bland, no salt. I had to ask for soy sauce and got 1 packet. Umm, it wasn't enough and it didn't help. We basically had a big bowl of bland broth and a ton of noodles that were tasteless and needed to be cooked a tad longer. We were both so bummed we couldn't even finish half a bowl. And my egg was so overcooked as well. Nothing was enjoyable which made us so sad. I don't think we have had anything enjoyable near the outlets yet. What's up Livermore?! Why can I not be entertained with some kick ass food or drinks???? Overall not very good, won't be coming back. read more

My date and I went on a shopping spree here at the outlets and we found ourselves looking for Ramen spots. Walked right in, didn't have to wait in line for too long. We both ordered the black garlic ramen. We chose our seats and our food arrived shortly after, fastest food arrival in our ramen experiences ever. The ramen was very good, but my date found that it was lacking something that didn't make it a 10/10. Other than that, the atmosphere and service was great. Would definitely come back! :) read more

My boyfriend had never tried ramen before, so I brought him here. We both ordered the grilled chicken ramen with medium spice and lumpia. Everything was so delicious and he was very impressed with the ramen. We will definitely be coming back to try the black garlic ramen. It was a lot of food, we both took some to go. I could have gone a level up on the spiciness. We came during COVID and everything was very clean and they were following covid protocol. The bathrooms were also very clean which is something rare nowadays. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They seem to have a very positive work environment. read more

This place is a great value for the money and has good quality food. We had the chicken and pork ramen and the grilled squid appetizer. If anyone is familiar with and likes Ajisen Ramen (AR) then you will like Ramen 101 (R101) because they are fairly comparable restaurants. On the whole the soup base is great at both places, but R101 has inferior noodles to AR. R101 has superior chicken (grilled and greater quantity) than AR (fried and less), and R101 has inferior pork to AR (bigger, better cut, and higher quality). R101 had nice mushrooms, egg, sprouts, fish cake, and other toppings/add ins to their Ramen. The grilled squid is comparable to Sam Woo's, but R101 has a sweet-spicy soy paste sauce that is tasty. However, recommend not using too much of the sauce (do not dip the pieces in it, just eat it with the drizzle on top and do not soak the crispy legs in it). The service was fast and seating available although crowded on a Sat night for early dinner. If eating there, the reason they have you order before seating is because they assign you a table number so they know where to take your food. So follow the directions of their signs and do not have your party safe a table till after you order or someone may ask you to move--we had to ask a guy to leave our table. Overall, would definitely go back here and highly recommend. Especially compared to the higher priced fancy restaurants that will give you less food in the area R101 is a great deal. read more

The food is okay, I normally order from the other location and am really happy with my food. Today I got a tonkatsu ramen and the broth they gave me doesn't even cover all my noodles. It's honestly kinda sad in comparison to what I was expecting. I was going to go back and get more broth but they're closed so I guess I'll just eat a half meal and get McDonald's after. Delicious ramen served hot. Maybe check in first to get the 20% check in offer. Ordered black garlic ramen, medium spicy, just in case they mean it... I eat spicy, but it didn't seem very spicy, so hot next time. Came with an egg, as it should being a ramen and all. Unlike the place north of the freeway. Their service is very fast. Ordered togo tray from here before, good too. Happy I came to eat in. read more

4 stars for the food and customer service. First time dining at Ramen 101 in Livermore. Tasty soup. Ordered the miso ramen. Fast, friendly service. Place your order first at the counter, then pick a table to sit at. 1 star for the quality of the furniture (chairs for sitting). They get at least 1 star for having chairs for customers to sit on. In my case, however, after finishing my bowl of miso ramen, I turn to get my purse to get ready to leave. Hear a crack and I'm suddenly falling on the ground because the wooden chair leg broke. I'm 125 lbs. and in complete shock at what just happened. I know it's an accident and it could happen to anyone, anywhere. The owners need to invest in sturdier chairs. Customers BEWARE of the wooden, CHEAP, non-sturdy chairs! read more

Do not go here. Placed order online thru their website. Arrived there 25 minutes later was told they never received my order due to having maintenance on their system, but after showing them that i already paid for it and the receipt they still told me there is nothing they are going to do. UPDATE: 2 hours after they told me they wouldn't help me they called me asking if I wanted the order still. Obviously I don't I'm not driving back to Livermore from manteca. She then told me they did charge me already and would call the website to refund my money and send me a text to confirm the cancellation. 2 hours after that still no confirmation text saying it was cancelled. Seems i will be having to call my credit card company to dispute charges. read more

Tried a couple different ramens between the 4 of us. The toppings are definitely the best part and on point - tender and large portions of chasu, most bowls came with an entire marinated and perfectly medium boiled egg, and lots of bamboo and veggies. The broths unfortunately lacked some oomph and not quite as rich as some other ramen joints The grilled squid was pretty tender and a good deal. Chicken was a tad dry, but the veggie tempura was freshly fried and a good portion They've got some outdoor seating with a tent (but was too windy when we went), as well as spaced out indoor seating. Food comes out very quickly; no problem getting a table for 4 on Sunday at 7pm with high turnover read more

Awful. Not even good for a ramen fix. Thin, greasy broth. The Karaage was all breading and stringy grey "chicken". The gyoza were deep fried rocks. Don't waste your money here read more

The lady with the blonde hair was super rude. When we walked in, my dad has asked which ramen the image below the register was and she just pointed at the menu and said "This is the menu." When I ordered she asked what spice level and I looked around to see what levels they had but couldn't really find it and then I asked and she just pointed at the menu again. Then when I paid I was waiting for the pin pad to say complete and nothing was happening. After a couple of minutes she just tapped her nails on the screen and didn't say or do anything else. However, there was hardly any wait for the food. The food was very good but it doesn't really make up for how rude the lady was. read more

Overall 4.5/5, but 1 of a few around the tri-valley. This one being the newest one (2020), I decided on finally one of these guys. Arriving around 11am, we were the first one in and just glancing at the menu from outside, the owner/manager opened the door and welcome us in and mentioned if we had any questions just ask. So right off, we sort of felt welcomed and the cashier too, was extremely friendly and albeit new was able to answer a few questions for us. I do say new cashier because he mentioned it in passing when he mis-rang me and instead of crediting my credit card back, he just gave me a $5 bill. Anyways, inside since it's a new location, the place itself was very bright and clean looking. As for the meal, I ordered the fried oysters for an appetizer. This was very good in terms of texture, not gooey and great flavor too. Beyond that, I ordered the black garlic ramen with a spicy heat level, both options were yummy. For me, their spicy had alittle kick to it, but I still had to put in more spice to it. But, the broth was nice and delicious and the ramen noodles still had a nice spring/Al dente feel to it. If this is like all the other places, I think I have to try out the different ramens along with their different sites around the valley but this one I think will do pretty good once the pandemic ends and people shop at the outlets again and want something slightly different. read more

We just ordered to-go which I ordered in advance. Ate the ramen when we got home. The food is very decent and noodles was really good. Overall, the food was great, it might have been better if ate there. The soup would be fresh. read more

I wanted so much to like this place because my mom likes ramen. However, the quality has really gone down recently. First, there's a sign at the door and counter that you must order before sitting which we did abide in but the person taking the order seemed impatient as our party of 10 were each placing their order. Hus facial expression showed annoyance instead of welcoming. (He's the guy with the earrings and we didn't see whether he has a name tag or not). The ramen broth was not very hot. The karaage was a bit overcooked and dry. The takoyaki was just half a ball instead of the whole ball (skimping on the real takoyaki). Service wasn't great at all. I will not go back or recommend this place unless you're ok with subpar ramen. read more

Went to eat here a while ago after doing some shopping. I like how they had outdoor seating but I didn't like how you had to order inside first then go out and sit down. There wasn't much tables so if you come when it is a little busy, which I did, but luckily I came with someone so they sat down and I ordered. But if you come alone or no one sits down first then you won't have a place to sit and eat. The food was good, I ordered the Shoyu ramen and kaki fry. The broth was a little salty for my taste and the kaki fry was only good when you eat it right away. 1 star less just because of the outdoor seating part. read more

I LOVE this place (and the other location on Fallon- I believe they have the same owner). I did not try to go for the BOGO- I wanted a quieter time, so I could explain my food allergy. I'm allergic to corn- which is a total bummer and requires explanation since it's basically the opposite of gluten free (which uses a lot of corn) and which people are more familiar with. Anyway, I felt the server here was exceptionally diligent in helping me with my allergy- she even brought out the ramen box for me to read - yup, cornstarch was the last ingredient. BUT I could still eat here!!! I had the vegetable ramen without ramen (but I could have the tofu!)- but with delicious vegetables. The stock is made from pork bones and whole chickens- and it's delicious. I tried to eat all my broth- but you get a huge bowl, and I just couldn't do it. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the tofu was lovely. I really enjoyed myself and I am thrilled I could find anything to eat- so much of the time I can't eat anything at all at small restaurants- either because there is corn in everything or because they do not know what is in their food. If you have a food allergy, these folks will help you- just don't go in when it's really busy. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and we finally made it. I love short ribs so I ordered the short rib plate to go. It cost me $16 and I couldn't eat the meat, the quality was the worst I've ever had, small pieces of bone all over the meat, which means to me either I got the bottom of marinade bag today or they really don't clean their meat. It's obviously the problem of the meat supplier for running the bones through the saws too fast, but also poor prep on the restaurant's side. By no means should short ribs be tossed from packing into a marinade without inspection for bone shards. First bite tasted like I dropped my sandwich at the beach and ate it. Second piece was worse, at first I thought it was chopped ginger or sesame seed, but then after I started eating them it became obvious this place doesn't know to properly prep short ribs. I won't ever be going to this place. It's dangerous to have rice size, sharp bone fragments in your food. Thankfully I didn't have my children to share with me this trip, as this could have been even worse! read more

I wish this place was good but it's just not. The ramen was the first thing I tried and it was terrible. The soup was bland, the noodles pretty generic, and the slice of pork tasted pan fried instead of roasted. Definitely did not enjoy it. I went again to give them another shot and ordered the Kalbi plate. I mean you can't really mess up short ribs right? Totally wrong! It came out pale and rubbery with so much fat that didn't look seared at all. I can only imagine that the meat wasn't dried before cooking so the water on the surface was basically boiling the meat instead of browning it. I've avoided this place for awhile until recently because I thought maybe they've gotten better. So I order a bbq chicken and chicken katsu plate and some spam musubi. Surely no one could screw up spam musubi and fried chicken. Wrong again! The spam was mushy, rice was soggy, and the katsu was way too brown and over cooked! The funny thing is that this was the best meal I've ever had here. Based on all the positive reviews it seems like some people are at least getting good food here. Hopefully it stays that way for them. But for me I think I'm done with Ramen 101. read more
