This review is for the Ramen 101 on 3044 W Jack London Blvd, Livermore, CA 94551. Tonkotsu ramen - 5/5 The Tonkotsu broth was very tasty and creamy. All the condiments were made to perfection. As you can see, the soft boiled egg was cut in half and presentation was excellent. The egg was soft boiled, not hard boiled as in dinner other Ramen eateries. The pork and chicken were tender and tasty. The kamaboko was sliced very thin. Could have had more thickness to it. Otherwise an excellent choice. Black Garlic ramen - 5/5 The garlic broth was delicious. You can see whole cloves of garlic as garnish. As with the Tonkotsu Ramen, the condiments were prepared perfectly. The Ramen noodles were cooked just right and don't taste like dehydrated noodles. I hope this Ramen 101 maintains the quality of their broth. It appears that the Antioch Ramen 101 ramen broth tasted a little diluted compared to when it first opened. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The customer service was absolutely terrible. We were charged for an extra soda, which we didn't mind paying for. They even brought us a "receipt," so we assumed the charge had already gone through. Instead, as soon as we walked out, a worker came running outside yelling at us in front of everyone, accusing us of not paying. That is no way to treat customers, especially over something that could have easily been handled with a calm conversation. Completely unprofessional, and we will not be returning. read more

Came in for lunch with my two kids. This isn't my first time here so I thought the bad attitude from the lady taking our order the other time was a one off. The little Asian lady with the giant glasses and short blonde hair is extremely rude. She acts as though she's giving you life and her face looks like she's smelled crap all day long. I asked for extra napkins and she gave me one. We were a party of 3. So my son decided to get up and just grab some himself. Food isn't even that great to be able to suck up the nasty attitude. read more

This is my first time at this location. It was a nice surprise that they had outdoor seating. I was ready to just order and eat in my car. My family and I have been going to the concord location but we were in the area and the kids wanted some Japanese food and thought we'd give this location a try. The indoor set up was strictly just for ordering. The person who was working the register was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered my go to ramen, tonkatsu ramen. The rest of the fam ordered chicken ramen, karaage, and mixed meat plate. Everything was delicious! Broth tasted great! Karaage was crunchy yet tender and seasoned nicely. Mixed meat plate was tender and flavorful. Will definitely will come back to this location if in the area. read more

Stumbled upon this place after shopping and it was the best decision ever! Food is super good and tasty! 10/10 recommend and it super fast and easy services. We come from over an hour away and it's our go to spot every time now! Wish I took a photo before eating but got one mid way! read more

We stopped here for a quick lunch and appreciated that the food came fairly quickly. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and found that the flavor was pretty good but also wish there was more pork as it only came with two pieces so you may want to add more if you are a bit more hungry. I will say I did have left over noodles and broth. I like that they give you the option to add a level of spice if you like it spicy as that gives people options. The chicken teriyaki was the normal teriyaki but was nice that it was a bigger portion as sometimes places really don't give you much. The place doesn't have a ton of seating but we were able to find a seat with no problems and they have the option of fountain drinks and also some bottles and canned drinks so it was nice as I don't drink soda. I would come here again if I want a quick ramen. It isn't the highest quality but it isn't bad either. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! It is our favorite, go -to for ramen. We have our own different favorites. Mine is the Black Garlic. The broth is full of flavor and taste. It goes very well with the slices of pork, roasted garlic, and noodles. Often I add the egg. The additional cost is totally worth it! We frequent this more in the Fall & Winter months. A funny thing happened on my last visit, I ordered takoyaki as a snack. Since I had to wait 15 minutes, I left to complete my errands. Two hours later, I realized I never picked my order up! When I called, they acknowledged that I was a frequent customer right away, and offered to make a new order which would be ready when I got there. It was so embarrassing that they knew who forgot their order! We had a nice laugh about when I finally returned to receive my fresh & hot snack. This is one reason we will always come back. Thank you! read more

I was actually pretty impressed with this place since it's fast casual. You order at the register and seat yourself. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu and it was actually very tasty. Ramen came out almost instantly. Affordable and quick meal. read more

This location just opened up on February 22nd, 2020; across from the outlet mall. This is a chain restaurant, so it's very odd that they opened one up at this location, especially since there's already a Ramen 101 at the Fallon Gateway Plaza. Since Ramen 101 is a chain restaurant, their food is identical to all of their other locations. They have other nearby locations in Dublin & Pleasanton too. The interior at this location is very small, so it may be crowded during their peak hours, especially on weekends. You order first, and they'll bring the food to you. Your food will arrive fairly quickly. As for their food, it's very good, but their portions aren't big at all. I definitely was still hungry after I finished one of their ramen bowls. With their seafood & pork rib ramen bowls at $14/each (as of February 2020), I was disappointed at how small their portions were. It would be more accurate to give them a 3.5 stars review, but at $14 for a small bowl of Ramen, I would only come back here if there was a promotion or if my friends really wanted to dine here. read more

This Ramen 101 specifically is one of my favorite quick Ramen places to go to. Came here with my three kids today to get some quick Ramen and what I call 'Hawaiian BBQ'. Other Ramen 101 locations didn't have these BBQ plates like this location. We ordered Tonkotsu ramen, spam masubi, chicken karaage and the BBQ mix plate. Alongside our food the kids really wanted to try these character carbonated sodas that you push a marble down to drink which they thought was really cool. I always order the Medium spice for my Ramen which is a great level to me as I tried the spicy one and it really took away the Tonkotsu flavor for me. Since moving to Dublin this is my quick Ramen go to spot (food even stays hot if you do take out!) read more

Food was good but the person at the register was less than welcoming. I would definitely come back to this place for lunch.

TLDR: All-in-all, not the BEST ramen I've ever had in my life, but all things considered, a very solid option! Ramen 101 belongs to a chain of restaurants located throughout the Bay Area, but I came to the Livermore chain to reunite with some old college buddies who were living out in Pleasanton. They had visited this spot several times, and strongly recommended Ramen 101 for their good vegetarian broth. Unfortunately, I am an uncultured meat eater and hence did not try to vegetarian broth. On the other hand, their ramen was probably one of the better ramens that I've had in the area. Located in the (relatively) new shopping plaza across from the San Francisco Premium Outlets, the plaza itself is much less busy than the outlets, which makes parking an ease. We were able to order and dine-in inside, and were served our ramen within 10 minutes of ordering, which was surprisingly quick. I personally opted for the black garlic ramen, and the first thing all of us noted was how large the portions were. I didn't think I would actually finish the ramen, but it was so good once I started eating it. The toppings that come with are solid, and I felt no need to add any additional toppings. All-in-all, not the BEST ramen I've ever had in my life, but all things considered, a very solid option! read more

3.5 stars...Grand opening bogo today. Line was enormous, well past the door but line moved decently. Too bad they only did bogo, dine in only, but to do so, there had to be an even number of people in your group. What's the point of one person not getting the deal? Anyway, ingredients were fresh. Tasted like all the other ramen 101s but I do like that they have more variety here, like more options for ramen...and Hawaiian bbq options for those who don't want noodles. Noodles were good texture, but flavor of the broth was not that rich, so just ok. Totally doesn't compare to quality u get in SoCal for ramen, but it's ok for the Bay Area. read more

Beside the food being served fast, the serving was big and it tasted great as well. The service was okay but could use some improvement, especially with being more welcoming to people entering the place. Place was clean and overall a great place to eat. read more

I really liked the customer service here. I stopped by on a Wednesday evening and a good amount of people were enjoying ramen. I decided on the pork rib ramen which came with corn and an egg, vegetable tempura and chicken karage. The vegetable tempura had a good variety of veggies and the sauce that came with it was great. The chicken karage was good too and I had plenty of leftovers to take home. I want to come back and try the Hawaiian food. read more

If you want to go to a fast food ramen place because u are in a hurry, this is the spot. My ramen came out quick, approximately 3-4 minutes. I was happy it came out quick but after my first sip, the ramen broth lacks flavor by A LOT. I even asked for some extra sauce to make it flavorful, they gave me sriracha. It still didn't work. I'm hungry so I have to at least eat half of my bowl, The workers here needs to be a little bit more enthusiastic. They don't say hello or don't say bye. They just take orders with no smile. They didn't even ask me if I want a drink nor gave me water. They all don't look happy or they just look really uptight or bored. It's a sad place I must say. It's 100% fast food restaurant. I've never been to a fast food ramen so I was shocked to find one. read more

Yup, nope. It's harsh but no. I'm out of words. I don't know why it's called a ramen place.

I was excited to try a new ramen space, but when I saw my bowl, the first thing I noticed was someone's hair in my ramen. I asked them to replace it. The foods themselves are meh. I was hoping for flavorful broth with soft and tender meat. Unfortunately, my Tonkotsu bowl lacks both elements. The broth is bland and water downed. It is not rich nor flavorful at all. It has a weird fragrance in it. Shin instant ramen has more flavors compared to this. The grilled squid's texture is nice, but the sauce is way too sweet. My Bf's riceplate reminds me of Ono's plate except the katsu chicken is very dry. Photos look good but foods are meh. I don't recommend especially if you have ramens from other places before. The only plus point I give is foods come out almost instantly. read more

Normally go here for Ramen. Which I think is OK. But decided to try their Hawaiian BBQ stuff. I saw some other reviews that they give you a lot of food. Man. They weren't kidding. Pretty good sized portions. I got the Mixed Grill so I could try as much as possible. The flavor on the chicken, beef, and short ribs was really good. I put the Sriracha sauce on the chicken, but I do that with all the Hawaiian BBQ chicken I eat because I like a little zip. But chicken is good just like it is. Comes with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of Mac salad. Scoops are a little smaller than normal Hawaiian BBQ places, but that's good for me because I'm not supposed to eat so much starch. Meat comes on a bed of cabbage leaves and some broccoli florets for a vegetable. I was pretty hungry so I also ordered some Spam Musubi to hedge my bets in case the mixed grill plate wasn't enough. Mixed grill plate was plenty. Just barely had enough room to finish off the Spam musubi. Spam musubi was just rice, grilled spam, and seaweed wrapped all the way around exactly how I like it. I don't like it when it's just a strip of seaweed. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the Hawaiian BBQ at a "Ramen" place. Will have to remember this place for takeout in the future. read more

Always a good meal especially the rib Ramen. Just wish the younger group behind the counter paid more attention to what was actually ordered on the ticket than what was put in the bag. I ordered 2 extra mild soups and got 2 spicy ones. Had to drive all the way back to have them exchange. I explained what the problem was when I got back and got questioned if I opened them even though they were still in the original packaging. The other young lady stepped in and said it was her fault and got me 2 new ones. My opinion is they would be better off with someone that could over see the business to give better customer service. Like a manager! The food was still great even though I had to spend five dollars more in gas going to and from to get the order right read more

Customer service: 5 stars Food: 3 stars This ramen spot is located across from the Livermore outlets and sits next to Ross. They offer take out, indoor and outdoor dining. I ordered the vegetable ramen spicy and my aunt ordered the vegetable ramen not spicy. Mine came out and had a bit of a chili oil while hers didn't. I added extra chili powder and it still was pretty mild but I think this is normal for a ramen place to be on the mild side. The flavor was okay, the noodles and tofu and veggies were fresh. The family also tried the Hawaiian bbq dishes in which they said was okay, a little dry on for the meats. The chasui rice wasn't really a chasui flavor but it was good. The other ramen bowls were okay as well, the flavor is a bit more subtle compared to other ramen places but the noodles and ingredients were fresh. read more

This Ramen 101 Restaurant is located just across Jack London Blvd from the shopping outlets and in the same shopping center as Ulta and Ross store. Nice menu with lots to chose from. Our party ordered 3 different ramen noodle bowls and shrimp/prawn tempura appetizer. The shrimp/prawn tempura was just pre-frozen shrimp tempura that was reheated by re-heated. Texture, taste, size & shape are just like the ones sold at Costco in the frozen area. The ramen bowls were pretty average tasting. Tables are cleaned quickly. I was working with a buddy of mine on a job site on a Friday afternoon. It was nearing lunchtime, and the both of us were getting quite hungry. He'd told me that he tried this place with a friend of his and wanted to take me there for lunch. So the first time I tried ramen 101 was before this whole covid ordeal. Service was quick, friendly, and real. I think the management here understands the concept of taking care of their customers. Drinks were served within 2 minutes. Appetizers were served within 5 minutes. And our ramen bowls were served how about 10 minutes after appetizers. Everything was totally delicious. Now we are in the middle of a global pandemic, there's only outdoor dining. They have propane radiant heat lamps position strategically around the outdoor dining tables. Took the girlfriend here on a Saturday evening in the middle of November and had no discomfort whatsoever from dining outside. I did however, order my ramen spicy, and it wasn't spicy at all. But it was still tasty. The crab balls were delicious. Service was very quick, as expected. So the second time around, not only was the service prompt, but the food was still just as delicious! Bonus points: first time Yelp check-ins get 10% off! Five stars for exceptional service, great tasting food, attention to detail, easy parking, great location! read more

Should've gone to another place across the plaza. We ordered the beef box (bbq beef, kalbi short ribs, and teriyaki chicken) as well as the shrimp tempura. So happy we found this place. We ordered 4 Tonkatsu ramen and a mixed Hawaiian plate. The ramen definitely goes down in my top 10! Ramen is a favorite and often what our girls choose to eat out and this place didn't disappoint. Portion size was perfect. We got the medium spice but ended up requesting more. Flavor on the ramen is amazing. Toppings were perfect and the egg on top was a favorite. Loved that they had Hawaiian sun drinks! Last minute holiday shopping and this place is conveniently located in the shopping plaza across from the outlet stores. They offer online contactless ordering and currently a discount of 10% off your tab. Once your order is ready, walk in and walk out with your order, and that's it! Super great and felt super safe they are doing this! It was a cold cold day so I decided to try their Tonkotsu ramen and added corn. Order was neatly packaged and totally worth the $12 I paid! My food tasted great. My only feed back would be to request for extra hot broth. After adding the broth my bowl of food was luke warm. I ate in the car and there was a small struggle between me and separating the noodles. Tender pork, beautifully made gooey egg and creamy broth. I finished the entire bowl without hesitation. I just had dinner at this place. The Asian lady at the counter, with blond colored hair and glasses, was vulgar upon entering and immediately yelled for here or to go; the customer service was not there. She didn't even greet customers coming inside; instead, I was in a hurry and yelling at people rudely. The food was great, but this lady ruined the dining experience because of her poor customer service. On top of that, upon finishing my food, I went to the restroom, and to my surprise, she was there cleaning the bathroom, going back and forth from the counter. Although she was wearing her gloves while cleaning, I had never seen her washing her hands before returning to the counter as I stood there waiting for her to finish cleaning. She is the one serving the food to the customers. So this is very unsanitized behavior. I hope the management can take a look at this incident. read more

Loved that it's dine in, hard to find places still that would allow sit in. Ramen tastes best fresh from the kitchen! Since it was our first time trying Ramen 101, we kind of went in on ordering. We ordered the black garlic ramen, gyoza, chicken katsu, and Bbq Trio. Soooooo good! Granted we didn't eat all day, thus ordering so much food as well. But it hit the spot! The ramen was so good and satisfying and the Hawaiian BBQ fusion they had going on also hit the spot! Best spot to get ramen and Hawaiian bbq! Service was fast and great, the vibes were nice, quiet music playing in the background, not too busy, and definitely loved the option of dining in. Definitely coming again. One of my go-to's when doordashing or ordering Togo. The ramen is delish and my son loves the chicken karaage. Yum yum yum.

Decided to give this place a try while in area and only place in the immediate area with customers. Expecting to find a place that specializes in Japanese style ramen, boy was I wrong. Menu offerings diverse to, what appears to be some Hawaiian offerings. Ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Shoyu Ramen. Nothing special. The shoyu soup has that package/powdery after taste. The tonkatsu was only slightly better. Proprietors does not appear to be the ethnicity of their menu, which may the reason that the ramen does not have that true flavoring ( have had the pleasure of experiencing over a dozen ramens within the islands of Japan as well as South Korea) as experienced both domestically and internationally. Since located in what appears to be a small mall like environment, setting reflect that setting. No unique character of its own. read more

Tried them for the first time last night. I ordered a shoyu ramen with max spicy level thinking that they'd put the Japanese shichimi togarashi spicy seasoning in the soup....but what I got was a Chinese mala spicy hot pot flavored soup?! I'm still super confused!!! The soup color was even all wrong! Everything in the ramen (toppings and soup) ended up all tasting like hot pot so I was glad I didn't waste money to add extra toppings. One star for their pork slices. That one I ate first before letting it soak in the broth too long so I was actually able to taste the amazing flavor it had. The texture was great too. One star for my husband's combo grilled meat plate. He said it was great. One star for the texture of the soft boiled egg in the ramen. It was really good. Again, can't judge on the flavor because it just tasted like mala hot pot lol but the color on the marinated egg wasn't too dark so I think it's safe to assume it wasn't too flavorful yet. Overall, food was alright but not sure what happened with the spicy component of my ramen...?! I would probably try them again the OG way and just add my own spices in the future. read more
