We were really craving for ramen and at the same time we were looking for a ramen spot where they had outdoor seating. So we spotted this restaurant and we knew it was located at a plaza that was relatively really new and still had lots of vacancies, so it seemed like a good place to avoid the crowds. As soon as we arrived, we walked up to the counter and placed our order, and then picked an outdoor table. The food came pretty quickly - we waited only for no more than 10 mins. And the Tonkatsu ramen was good! The soup base was very creamy and tasty. I asked them for less cooking time on the noodles and they happily accommodated my request. I also asked for "spicy" and I loved the spicy chili oil/sauce they used; it had a spicy numbing sort of flavor to it. And the toppings were quite plenty - fish cakes, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, two thick pieces of pork, green onions and a soft boiled egg. This bowl of ramen was beyond hearty. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and found that the flavor was pretty good but also wish there was more pork as it only came with two pieces so you may want to add more if you are a bit more hungry. I will say I did have left over noodles and broth. I like that they give you the option to add a level of spice if you like it spicy as that gives people options. The chicken teriyaki was the normal teriyaki but was nice that it was a bigger portion as sometimes places really don't give you much. The place doesn't have a ton of seating but we were able to find a seat with no problems and they have the option of fountain drinks and also some bottles and canned drinks so it was nice as I don't drink soda. This Ramen 101 specifically is one of my favorite quick Ramen places to go to. Came here with my three kids today to get some quick Ramen and what I call 'Hawaiian BBQ'. Other Ramen 101 locations didn't have these BBQ plates like this location. We ordered Tonkotsu ramen, spam masubi, chicken karaage and the BBQ mix plate. Alongside our food the kids really wanted to try these character carbonated sodas that you push a marble down to drink which they thought was really cool. I always order the Medium spice for my Ramen which is a great level to me as I tried the spicy one and it really took away the Tonkotsu flavor for me. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! It is our favorite, go -to for ramen. We have our own different favorites. Mine is the Black Garlic. The broth is full of flavor and taste. It goes very well with the slices of pork, roasted garlic, and noodles. Often I add the egg. The additional cost is totally worth it! We frequent this more in the Fall & Winter months. A funny thing happened on my last visit, I ordered takoyaki as a snack. Since I had to wait 15 minutes, I left to complete my errands. Two hours later, I realized I never picked my order up! When I called, they acknowledged that I was a frequent customer right away, and offered to make a new order which would be ready when I got there. It was so embarrassing that they knew who forgot their order! We had a nice laugh about when I finally returned to receive my fresh & hot snack. This is one reason we will always come back. My family and I have been going to the concord location but we were in the area and the kids wanted some Japanese food and thought we'd give this location a try. The indoor set up was strictly just for ordering. The person who was working the register was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered my go to ramen, tonkatsu ramen. The rest of the fam ordered chicken ramen, karaage, and mixed meat plate. Everything was delicious! Broth tasted great! Karaage was crunchy yet tender and seasoned nicely. This location just opened up on February 22nd, 2020; across from the outlet mall. This is a chain restaurant, so it's very odd that they opened one up at this location, especially since there's already a Ramen 101 at the Fallon Gateway Plaza. Since Ramen 101 is a chain restaurant, their food is identical to all of their other locations. They have other nearby locations in Dublin & Pleasanton too. The interior at this location is very small, so it may be crowded during their peak hours, especially on weekends. You order first, and they'll bring the food to you. Your food will arrive fairly quickly. As for their food, it's very good, but their portions aren't big at all. I definitely was still hungry after I finished one of their ramen bowls. With their seafood & pork rib ramen bowls at $14/each (as of February 2020), I was disappointed at how small their portions were. It would be more accurate to give them a 3.5 stars review, but at $14 for a small bowl of Ramen, I would only come back here if there was a promotion or if my friends really wanted to dine here. read more

Always a good meal especially the rib Ramen. Just wish the younger group behind the counter paid more attention to what was actually ordered on the ticket than what was put in the bag. I ordered 2 extra mild soups and got 2 spicy ones. Had to drive all the way back to have them exchange. I explained what the problem was when I got back and got questioned if I opened them even though they were still in the original packaging. TLDR: All-in-all, not the BEST ramen I've ever had in my life, but all things considered, a very solid option! Ramen 101 belongs to a chain of restaurants located throughout the Bay Area, but I came to the Livermore chain to reunite with some old college buddies who were living out in Pleasanton. They had visited this spot several times, and strongly recommended Ramen 101 for their good vegetarian broth. Unfortunately, I am an uncultured meat eater and hence did not try to vegetarian broth. On the other hand, their ramen was probably one of the better ramens that I've had in the area. Located in the (relatively) new shopping plaza across from the San Francisco Premium Outlets, the plaza itself is much less busy than the outlets, which makes parking an ease. We were able to order and dine-in inside, and were served our ramen within 10 minutes of ordering, which was surprisingly quick. I personally opted for the black garlic ramen, and the first thing all of us noted was how large the portions were. I didn't think I would actually finish the ramen, but it was so good once I started eating it. The toppings that come with are solid, and I felt no need to add any additional toppings. I was excited to try a new ramen space, but when I saw my bowl, the first thing I noticed was someone's hair in my ramen. I asked them to replace it. The foods themselves are meh. I was hoping for flavorful broth with soft and tender meat. Unfortunately, my Tonkotsu bowl lacks both elements. The broth is bland and water downed. It is not rich nor flavorful at all. It has a weird fragrance in it. Shin instant ramen has more flavors compared to this. The grilled squid's texture is nice, but the sauce is way too sweet. My Bf's riceplate reminds me of Ono's plate except the katsu chicken is very dry. Photos look good but foods are meh. I don't recommend especially if you have ramens from other places before. Decided to give this place a try while in area and only place in the immediate area with customers. Expecting to find a place that specializes in Japanese style ramen, boy was I wrong. Menu offerings diverse to, what appears to be some Hawaiian offerings. Ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Shoyu Ramen. Nothing special. The shoyu soup has that package/powdery after taste. The tonkatsu was only slightly better. Proprietors does not appear to be the ethnicity of their menu, which may the reason that the ramen does not have that true flavoring ( have had the pleasure of experiencing over a dozen ramens within the islands of Japan as well as South Korea) as experienced both domestically and internationally. I just had dinner at this place. The Asian lady at the counter, with blond colored hair and glasses, was vulgar upon entering and immediately yelled for here or to go; the customer service was not there. She didn't even greet customers coming inside; instead, I was in a hurry and yelling at people rudely. The food was great, but this lady ruined the dining experience because of her poor customer service. On top of that, upon finishing my food, I went to the restroom, and to my surprise, she was there cleaning the bathroom, going back and forth from the counter. Although she was wearing her gloves while cleaning, I had never seen her washing her hands before returning to the counter as I stood there waiting for her to finish cleaning. Normally go here for Ramen. Which I think is OK. But decided to try their Hawaiian BBQ stuff. I saw some other reviews that they give you a lot of food. Man. They weren't kidding. Pretty good sized portions. I got the Mixed Grill so I could try as much as possible. The flavor on the chicken, beef, and short ribs was really good. I put the Sriracha sauce on the chicken, but I do that with all the Hawaiian BBQ chicken I eat because I like a little zip. But chicken is good just like it is. Comes with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of Mac salad. Scoops are a little smaller than normal Hawaiian BBQ places, but that's good for me because I'm not supposed to eat so much starch. Meat comes on a bed of cabbage leaves and some broccoli florets for a vegetable. I was pretty hungry so I also ordered some Spam Musubi to hedge my bets in case the mixed grill plate wasn't enough. Mixed grill plate was plenty. Just barely had enough room to finish off the Spam musubi. Spam musubi was just rice, grilled spam, and seaweed wrapped all the way around exactly how I like it. I was working with a buddy of mine on a job site on a Friday afternoon. It was nearing lunchtime, and the both of us were getting quite hungry. He'd told me that he tried this place with a friend of his and wanted to take me there for lunch. So the first time I tried ramen 101 was before this whole covid ordeal. Service was quick, friendly, and real. I think the management here understands the concept of taking care of their customers. Drinks were served within 2 minutes. Appetizers were served within 5 minutes. And our ramen bowls were served how about 10 minutes after appetizers. Everything was totally delicious. Now we are in the middle of a global pandemic, there's only outdoor dining. They have propane radiant heat lamps position strategically around the outdoor dining tables. Took the girlfriend here on a Saturday evening in the middle of November and had no discomfort whatsoever from dining outside. I did however, order my ramen spicy, and it wasn't spicy at all. But it was still tasty. The crab balls were delicious. Service was very quick, as expected. So the second time around, not only was the service prompt, but the food was still just as delicious!
