The website states they are open until 1 am. I arrived at 12:55 am. Granted, it was late in the night but definitely before the store was set to close. I got to the door and it's locked and the security guard is looking at me from the other side. I point to my watch and said they are still open. A manager comes to the door and I said, "You should still be open, it's before 1 am." He said, "We closed 20 minutes ago". Why bother stating your hours if you just plan to close early as if it's no big deal. The guy was rude and incredulous that I was even bothered by the fact that they should still be open according to their own website. Shady and lame. He gave me a bunch of grief as if it was my fault that they decided to close early and had people waiting at the door to get in. read more

This is by far my favorite Ralph's. I can almost always get parking, their selection of organic and vegan foods is constantly expanding, and the produce manager is friendly and knowledgeable. That said, I recently bought an organic watermelon and two organic eggplants which looked fine but were rotten on the inside and inedible. I returned to the store without the rotten food. Not only did they refund my purchase, but I got phone calls from the store manager and the regional manager to check to see if I was satisfied with the response to my complaint. I was honestly blown away by the attention to a relatively small problem. I avoid the magnolia avenue store because of the local homeless population that unfortunately spills into the store and actively panhandles in the aisles until they're asked to leave, making the shopping experience less than ideal, and the new store on Ventura in Sherman oaks is laid out in a way that I find annoying and counter intuitive, with like items spread halfway across the store for reasons I can't fathom. $8.99 for strawberries that you can see mold thru the packaging. The bagged carrots were all expired- not by a day or two, but by several days. A lot of the products in the cold storage produce section were expired; yogurt drinks, and some dips. There was very little produce that looked fresh and none I would pay Ralph's price for. And someone had their little dog off leash and no one said anything. The store was filthy. The staff was rude. And the shelves were overloaded with old or expired stuff and empty of any fresh food. I got the feeling this store is being shut down. It was an awful experience and I didn't even get half of what was on my list because they didn't have it, or it was moldy/expired. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood and been shopping at this Ralphs for nearly 2 decades as an adult. Some of the staff are great, others, including the manager, are not. Recently I had one of the grossest exchanges I've personally had with a store employee anyplace over my ID to prove that at over 40. It honestly felt more like a sexual assault than a purchase. I have been legally able to purchase alcohol for the entire time I've gone to this store. Recently I was checking out with what happened to be the manager (and I know I've checked out with this specific manages MANY times before, even if he didn't recognize me.) The manager scanned my alcohol FIRST while I was still fiddling with entering my card number, unloading groceries on the conveyor belt, etc and then just stood there waiting without saying anything to me. At this point, I could see that he was stalling and I wanted to GET OUT OF THE STORE, so I pulled out my ID since I have a brain and can put 2 and 2 together that I purchased alcohol and somehow you "think" I am literally half the age I am and don't even look like I'm older than 20 (when you're past 40 and LOOK it, it's not funny, it's not cute, it's not a compliment. It's a fucking pain in the ass.) The manager made a comment about me "knowing" what he wanted. Yeah, I'm a smart lady that can see you're not scanning anything else even as I flash you my intensely grey roots & 40 year old face without makeup. Sorry I had to wear my sunglasses in the store because my old eyes can't see without prescription glasses. When I provided my ID, the manager was so proud of himself for me KNOWING that he wanted me ID - like he "caught" me trying to buy alcohol as a 40 year old. I'm observant and want to get out of the damn store and don't need to be berated or embarrassed for being carded when I'm 40 years old. I'm not 20 years old. The whole exchange was disgusting in how it went down and the manager ended it with a weird comment about "until we meet again." I have had MANY interactions with this manger PRIOR to this particular exchange, even if he didn't bother to remember me after decades of being a customer. Somehow most of the rest of the employees can use their eyeballs and brains and figure out that I'm over 40, not 20. So as long as I keep going to this store, I will avoid the manager. Deli department is annoying. It's normal to see 10 employees behind the Deli counter and all but 1 of them ignore you completely. And this is during lunch. It's not uncommon for the products I buy to simply disappear from this story. Why is the selection of Fage yogurt down to 3 varieties? Sketchy activity around the store (always homeless populations living behind the store and doing things like starting fires.) For some reason there's a Starbucks inside despite the fact there's also a Starbucks in the same shopping center. It's a Ralph's. Store is regularly reorganized, which sucks for regulars. I stopped by this Ralph's today in the morning to get a few things. The cashier obviously has a problem with white pregnant women because she didn't greet me, didn't ask for my Ralph's card, and didn't tell me the total. And right before ringing me up, she was all nice and sweet to this black gentleman AND she was nice to the woman behind me. What's wrong with this cashier? Her name is Fatema. Get this. It's 8:30 AM on a Thursday. I walk into this store to purchase an egg salad sandwich @ the deli sandwich counter. The polite employee informs me that the sandwich service officially begins @ 9:00 am. Ok, I can accept that answer as reasonable, but wait... This Ralph's location does not make tuna or egg salad sandwiches @ the deli counter. Why? Because they don't have the price coded into the weight/pricing scale. Are you serious?!? You're a supermarket with a deli counter! In what plane of reality would you serve egg salad and tuna salad @ the deli counter, but refuse to make sandwiches with these products because you can't code your machines to process. Huh?!? You also sell ham, turkey, pastrami, a dozen other deli meats and umpteen cheeses at the deli counter and thusly make sandwiches from these items at the same deli counter -- what did egg and tuna salad do to piss you off?!? It's sh*t like this explanation that when I hear, seriously makes me question my own sanity! And by the way, Raphie boy, it's the morning time and some of us enjoy a good egg salad sandwich on occasion for breakfast. I've been going to this ralphs for so many years now because i live up the hill. Not too long ago, I'm hearing some complaints about an old security guard being racist. I heard people arguing with him because of how he treats POC customers. And this is the first time i experienced it first hand. I was asked to leave my backpack by the old security guard before going inside. I usually just go there after school wearing my backpack to get some snacks before going home. I asked why. I struggled through most of the day with "Tiny Dancer" on repeat in my mind. I left my house, took a meeting and the whole time the people were talking... There I stood for... you ready... 21 minutes waiting for a pound of turkey, ham and roast beef and half a pound of Havarti with Dill and Horseradish Cheddar. 21 minutes. It wasn't crowded. There were three way too chatty ladies working and it took 21 minutes. Sad to report the song now stuck in my head is the Jeopardy theme song since for 21 minutes that is all that was playing. This Ralphs is ok. I live on the border of Sherman Oaks/Studio City and this is my go-to grocery store. I prefer this Ralphs to the location over on Van Nuys/Burbank much more. That one is super ghetto. People in this parking lot are jerks. They don't watch where they're going and it's even difficult parking here because it's at a busy intersection (Ventura/Coldwater Canyon). The store itself is pretty nice. I recommend bringing a jacket because it is ALWAYS FREEZING INSIDE, even when you're not in the frozen/refrigerated section! They have a great variety of foods. I suggest signing up for a Ralphs card because that's honestly the only way to get food for a reduced price. Their standard prices without the Ralphs card are overpriced IMO. read more

The gigantic shrimp are the best. I have enjoyed the snapper and salmon as well. Produce selection is well stocked and there is always something new to try. They have a great smelling bakery and all of the desserts make me look twice as I walk by. This location is close to the house and is our new go to grocery store. read more

Stars for the older gentleman at the deli department and some of their cashiers however this Ralph's has definitely gone down hill. Twice now we've been here and the heater has been cranked to a million degrees. You can feel the heat blowing on you and it's super hard to breath with a mask on. I basically only come here because my apartment is literally in walking distance, but that doesn't make me a fan of this place. I've always heard people say that "they hate grocery shopping," being from Florida, I never understood what people meant. Since moving to LA, now I understand. When I shop at Ralphs, there's always people riding your ass as you try to browse through the aisles. It makes it so uncomfortable that you feel like you have to cater to those who are trying to live in the fast lane! The staff here has always been friendly towards me. Usually, the cashiers remember me and will make small talk, which is always nice I suppose. The prices here are relatively nice. I always use online coupons and at times, cut out ones. It saves me a lot of money! Sometimes there are some uh, questionable people that linger outside of Ralphs and try to stalk you to your car, so that's not fun. Every Thursday morning I stop at this Ralph's to purchase a gift card because we do a raffle for the employees every Friday , just to thank them for their hard work . Today the lady who's name I won't mention, was running the transaction asked for an ID Card even though I told her I'm paying with my business debit card using my PIN number, she looked at the card and said "nope can't do it , it has no name on it " I will attach a picture of it at the end . Told her , I buy it here every week never had an issue . Told me to ask the manager, which I did and manager looked at the card and asked if im using pin , told her yes . She said it's fine and told the cashier "it's fine charge him " she took the gift cards put it on another register and told the manager "you do it then im not gonna do it . What pisses me off is that this cashier from the beginning was looking for a reason not to do it . Let's just say im not white looking . And the card did have a name on it . I shop here all the time. It's the closest Ralph's to my house even though there are two others almost as close. I've been coming to this store since I was a kid and even before it was a Ralph's. This review is from June of this year but I didn't take the time to write the review until now. The store is fine but I haven't been back for over 6 months because of an unnecessarily rude manager. My business doesn't matter to you but I'm going to a different store all because of a rude manager. You don't have to accept a manufacturers coupon but Raul was a jerk and should have just accepted my $3 manufacturers coupon. Like why does he care that much to start a fight over something so small. A large grocery store in Studio City, complete with a decent wine selection and liquors, plus all the regular hot food sections, they seem a bit understaffed up front at times (waited at the service counter for more than ten minutes). The location further up on Ventura (near Hazeltine) is better, and the Gelson's on Woodman is still my fav. Prices are high (again. due to the location), it's fairly small, but well stocked on several items i cant find elsewhere. So, I occasionally still shop here 1x/month. Ralphs has surprisingly good chicken strips. They are fresh battered and fried, I watched them take fresh tenders, dip them in batter, and dropped in the fryer. Requesting fresh chicken tenders is a 15 minute wait. read more

Only writing a review for Nina(?) I believe her name was. I stopped by for some baby wipes and other items and noticed the baby wipes were listed as buy one get one free with your Ralph's card. I needed to buy the Pampers 3x pack to get a second Pampers 3x pack for free. When I arrived at the register, I asked Marisol if she could just verify if the coupon was valid. It didn't come up on her end so I said it was fine and I'd only take one. She ended up making a big fuss and made me show Nina where I saw the coupon, and I apologized to Nina because I wasn't trying to hold up the line. Nina confirmed I was correct and Marisol grunted that she'd have to do it manually and then instructed Nina to remove the coupon tag. Nina was incredibly sweet to me and eased my anxiety as I hate giving retail workers a hard time when unnecessary. This time I was correct though and I'm just really grateful that Nina was there to support me and didn't make me feel stupid for asking about a coupon. read more

Customer service has seriously gone downhill at this Ralphs. Not one employee acknowledges or even smiles at customers yet they don't mind speaking loudly and negatively about other coworkers. While I was shopping I wanted to ask someone about their lack of chicken in the meat department and also had a cheese question but there was no one to be found in either one of the departments. And at the self checkout, there was an elderly woman on a scooter that changed her mind on a particular item that was just scanned in stating that it was more expensive than she thought. The worker annoyingly told her and the woman's caregiver to look at the prices and make sure she really wants the item in the future - she repeated this to both of them at least 4 times! Was that really necessary to berate them like that? Smh If this is what customer service looks like, it's no wonder why people are choosing to have their groceries delivered. read more

This store does NOT enforce the LA County mask mandate. They will not ask maskless customers to wear masks. I saw two maskless women walk past a greeter who didn't say anything. I saw a clerk checking out a maskless man and never said anything. Zero effort made. I asked the manager, and she told me that they hang a sign at the front door and that's all they are willing to do. Shop elsewhere if you care about your health. read more
