This is a pretty run of the mill Ralph's. My issue is with their bakery. The cakes in their display look really pretty and are well decorated so we ordered a cake based on what we saw. I ordered a triple layer half sheet chocolate cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party. For starters the cake looked like an amateur version of the cakes available on display. The icing job looked terrible but the absolute worst part of it all that I find absolutely insane and unacceptable is that the entire cake was CUT IN HALF!! Please see my pictures. Apparently if they make a half cake they have no choice but to cut it in half? I mean this is insane. If you have to cut the cake in half then cover it with icing!! How is this person allowed to decorate cakes?? How on earth would they think this is acceptable? Have you ever bought a cake that was cut in half down the middle?? So tomorrow when my daughter is about to blow out the candles and our 30 guests are watching, I'd imagine they're going to wonder why the f this cake is cut down the middle!!! Enraging and completely unprofessional!!! The woman who helped us initially was very very nice and accommodating but this cake is truly unacceptable. read more

I'M SO DISAPPOINTED THAT RALPHS DOES NOT SELL BIRTHDAY CAKE OREOS. CAUSE FOR HYPERVENTILATION. LOW RATINGS, STARTING NOW - I'm totally kidding! I love this Ralphs. It is clean, spacious, and with many options. The Coffee Bean is fantastic and a good thing to go to when wanting some coffee while doing grocery shopping (or you're just not in the mood for Starbucks, which is in the same plaza). I was not lying when I said that this Ralphs doesn't have the limited edition Birthday Cake Oreos (Vons does, though), but that is hardly a fraction of a reason to give it a negative rating, right? I just felt a bit light hearted since all the reviewing I'm doing on Yelp out of nowhere at 2:40 in the morning is bringing on some of my not-so-great humor. For service, I personally haven't experienced any particular problems. I do use the self-checkout service quite often just because I tend to purchase a small number of items, but when I have gone to the check out lines, I have not felt discriminated against or whatever other issues previous Yelp reviewers have seemed to have. I have the tendency to put on this apathetic, "don't mess with me" sort of face combined with a brisk walking pace - perhaps that is why people haven't treated me poorly in any way. Overall, I like this Ralphs and come to it often. It's cheaper than the Walgreens on Foothill and Ramsdell, and I like that I get discounts in both groceries and Shell gas with my Ralphs membership. One thing that gets slightly annoying is the fact that I need to bring my own bags for groceries or pay for plastic/paper bags (I always forget to bring my own bag), but I know it's for a good purpose, so kudos to Ralphs. read more

I have to say, there is a slight tinge of discrimination at this Ralph's... On every occasion that I've come here, the cashiers have had the brightest demeanors toward the various white customers in front of me, striking up conversations and laughing heartily. As soon as it's my turn to come up, I always smile and ask how it's going. I'm greeted with nothing in return, and the ambience surrounding this interaction turns into that of a funeral parlor's. Not a peep is said, and no eye contact is made. Perhaps I make everyone nervous when I come to buy my cold brew coffee and potato chips... I might be up to no good. read more

I am a fan of Ralph's and cannot lie... The fact that they are about the first I know of to expand the organic section and the one here is great, and they highlight the great gluten free products such as the multigrain crackers. Staff are really knowledgeable and help out to take you to see where items are located. The parking lot is big enough to accommodate the ritzy SUV driving women who have no place driving, either in Thousand Oaks or here.. so you can avoid them with more ease than in most parking lots. Their roasted chickens are quite generous and I like the way they link to my Shell gas purchases when I pay sufficient amounts in groceries. I am not picky- all the Ralphs in the region are quite good and this one is especially big and navigable. read more

This is the best Ralph's in the northern part of Los Angeles. This store is larger than the others and stocks more "upmarket" foods that the other stores don't stock because the poorer folks must not buy it often enough to justify stocking it. There are several things stocked here that I never see stocked in the other Ralph's in the area, anywhere from Pasadena to La Cañada to Sun Valley (before it closed) to Sunland Ralph's. It's also right off of the 210 West so it's an easy pitstop for me on my way home from work. It's not perfect (no supermarket is) but it's the best one around this area so I'm giving it 5 stars. read more

I have received 2 delivery orders during this COVID19 crisis. While it was a little tough to get a delivery time and the package sizes were not always what we ordered, I give lots of props tp this business. I've been going to this location for many years!They improved throughout the years, but still got to do better in customer service(especially the cashiers/baggers). Starting 2015 summer, I've been coming here for the food only almost every week! They have fried/grilled chicken, lots of side dishes to choose from, sushi, soups, sandwiches, and a soda machine that has a billion of flavors all for a low price! Today I got the fried chicken for dinner and I really enjoyed it! The guy at the register (around 5:10pm today, he looked young) didn't help me put my groceries in my personal bag, and I was okay with that since I only got couple things plus the chicken.... But atleast offer to help? Maybe he was having a bad long day, so I'll let it slide.. read more

I shopped here all the time. I came in almost at closing time on Friday, July 30, 2022, and left my phone behind at self-check-up 11. They said no one had turned in any phone, yet a person has many phones in a lost-in-found box. They refused to help you get your phone. I filed a police report and the camera showed someone took my phone, but it could have been to give it to someone at the front. I believe this because I used google-help me find my phone and the location is Ralphs. No one wants even to try to look at the lost and found box to see if your phone is there. Why does Ralph's want us to shop there when they don't care enough for their customers to help them find their lost items? I lost my phone before at another Ralphs and they gave it to me immediately. This Ralph's does not check and on the phone they are quick to say no one has turned in anyone's phone, mind you without checking the lost and found. I will not be shopping here anymore as they are rude to their customer, and the managers roll their eyes at the customer for asking to please look at the lost and found box, and scream at other employees for showing you phones they have in the lost and found box, that customers never got because of their policy. read more

You lost me Ralphs. Today, I witnessed the store clerk telling the customer in front of me that the store didn't have any coins, and so they couldn't give give the customer his proper change after he paid with cash. The clerk asked him, "Would you like to round up? We don't have any coins." How about Ralphs rounds DOWN?! From what I've read, this is common at Ralphs--to not have coins. That's fine, but then why not round down for the customer instead of making that person pay more? They have record profits from Covid. I'm guessing it's because they can make a lot of money by refusing to give change in the form of coins, and saying "would you like to round up?" Thankfully, I have a debit card, but what about people who need or want to pay with cash. In addition, they now charge 50 cents if you want to get any cash back when you checkout. I know they don't need to operate like a bank, but when they take away these conveniences, they also take away the incentive to shop there. I ditched the La Canada store for this one as the workers are friendlier, however, the overall business model is one I just simply can't support anymore. read more

Most of the staff are quite friendly, however the hot bar/deli section always seems understaffed or they are not attentive to people waiting in line. I waited for mac n cheese and the lady behind the counter saw me and instead of taking my order continued to work on stocking the corn bread for a couple minutes. I ended up leaving because she would not pay attention to me. Highly disappointing. read more

I go to this store as my first choice for groceries. So many good things about it but yesterday I was disturbed to see a dog in the store, being led on a leash by customer couple, small dog, not a service dog. When I asked employees about Ralphs dog-in-the-store policy I was told to talk to the manager. Unfortunately I didn't have time to find the manager. This review is of the STORE MANAGER ONLY. --- I was visiting Ralphs yesterday to place an order for the deli and while I was there I witnessed the STORE MANAGER in the deli food prep area, who had placed a hair net over just the very top of her head, but, had failed to restrain her VERY long hair in any way. It was hanging down the front of her body and swinging around as she talked to the deli staff. Everyone else was wearing a net over all of their hair. Not her! Of course none of the workers would say anything for fear of loosing their job. GROSS!! I am new to the area, and this has the been the grocery store I frequent the most. I buy mostly organic products, and their organic store brand, Simple Truth, is pretty competitive. I like coming to this Ralph's at around 11pm, there's not a lot of people and I don't know what it is but, it's very soothing shopping here at that time (hahaha maybe I'm just weird). They recently remodeled/reorganized their market and I'm really liking the new organization of items. It seems like there's more products than before and more asian products as well. If you are one of those anti-social people or if you just don't want to deal with any human interaction... there's always the self checkout area for you (which I use all the time hahaha). They have recently implemented a policy of charging a fee for cash back, after decades of offering it as a convenience incentive. Only Kroger [Ralphs parent company] is doing that in the LA area. Nationwide, this will net the corporation an extra $75 million per year for a few extra seconds of the cashier's time. And it forces customers to make a separate trip to the bank for cash unless they want to pay this fee or an out-of-network ATM fee. Many of the low-income disabled seniors in our apartment building are currently boycotting the store for that reason. We prefer to shop where we can get cash back without an extra fee. This store is the only supermarket barely within walking distance. Couldn't this Ralphs waive the fee for seniors or the disabled? read more

Seriously lacking management!! Leilani is rude and obnoxious. I am in the customer service industry and would never speak to clients the way she spoke to me. Damaged goods should be marked down or removed from the shelves or both. Dog food bag with several tears and no others on the shelf. She told me I could wait for the shelves to be restocked, but of course that would mean my dogs would go hungry. I will not be shopping here again. Vons is equal distance from my house. This is quite posibly the nicest Ralphs I've been to. I tend to shop at all different grocery stores.. you name it, I've probably shopped there. After all, not one store will carry just about all you might want at the price you want to pay, too. I popped in here because I had stopped by the Rite Aid in the same plaza, and I definitely was blown away. I did not expect the store to be as spacious as it was. All I needed was cream cheese, but I spent some time wandering the aisles to see what the store was like. The deli section here is a lot larger than any other I've seen in a Ralphs, so you can get your pre-made food, sandwiches, or soup there. The produce section is quite extensive with a large selection of organic products, too. The baking aisle (always my favorite) surprised me with its decent selection of Bob's Red Mill products. Usually you can only find that line at a Whole Foods, (other than a few basics), but here they had the rice flour, gluten-free mix, almond meal, etc. I even spied a bottle of sunflower oil (once again, only seen at Whole Foods). I definitely spotted a lot of workers at this store constantly replenishing stock, so its nice to see that there are people who can help you when you need it. The store also offers 4 self check-out stations, if you like doing that yourself. There is also a Coffee Bean inside so you can enjoy a cup while wandering and browsing. This location has definitely rebuilt some of the respect I had lost for Ralphs after having to shop at the tiny location that is closer to me. read more

I have been going to ralphs close to 30 years. The la Brea /3rd street location I considered them family through the years. I just moved to la crescenta and noticed that the bakery department have rude employees. Poor customer service and asking for assistance is like pulling teeth. The seafood dept are cool guys so is produce. A Ralphs bakery dept that are cool in the area is the central /stocker location in glendale. read more

I have had at least 5-10 HORRIBLE experiences at this Ralph's. The staff is great when things are running smoothly, but the minute you need any assistance... They are extremely rude and don't want to help.( From the managers all the way down) I have a new born baby and have had the most horrible time TRYING to buy formula! The incidents are horrific and numerous! This staff NEEDS TO BE RE-TRAINED. I have never been so mistreated continuously by a staff. I would not even have bothered to write this post if it wasn't so severe. Unfortunately, this is the closest market and as a mother of three I often need to run here for different items. It's really sad and unfortunate that the service is so lousy, I was there earlier tonight and once again was surprised by the lack of work ethic shown by the employees and manager. Yes it is overpriced and you can find cheaper stuff at other grocery stores such as Trader Joes or Super King..However, I really like this Ralphs. I like the new clean look and I like all their variety at the salad bar, sushi bar, and Chinese food station. This is a great store. Awesome floral department, kind cashiers who are friendly and helpful. The one star is because I got really bad food poisoning from the salad bar. Don't eat it! The food isn't very fresh in the salad bar but is usually passable. Today, I added what looked like chicken to my salad. When I sat down and ate it, it was actually tuna. I immediately got very ill. I don't think it was chilled- I'm pretty sure it was served out like at room temperature. I hope management is more careful with keeping the salad bar safe to eat for the customers in the future. I really can never eat it again after today. read more

This is a tough one. I love the larger "Fresh Fare" store and the larger selection, but I've never, and I mean NEVER had a friendly checker there, not even the Manager. It's weird BC not many people leave reviews for grocery stores I bet. I was on a time crunch this morning and circled around in the store. For some reason I kept running into the store director Marc who would just randomly ask what I'm looking for. I think he might have just helped me find my entire list hahaha. My shopping which would have taken me an hour took half the time. He also help me find the exact wine I was looking for in two seconds flat. Then I walked around and another associate assisted me with another item. I didn't even look like I need any assistance but he approached me anyway.
