It has the usual stuff you'd expect to find in mini markets. But there are hidden gems in the dusty corners like a vintage bottle of Trader Vic's Mai Tai cocktail mix. I didn't check the price but I'm wishing it still had the price tag from 1975 on it. Made me think of the Werewolf of London drinking a Pina Colada and his hair was perfect. Another good find was a dusty bottle of Crème de Menthe. It made me want to look up the recipe for a Grasshopper. I don't know if these old mixer's are for sale or just museum pieces. The sandwiches look pretty good, I'll have to try one another time. Overall the veggie pizza was pretty good, but a bit heavy on the veggies. I generally like fewer toppings, but everyone is different. I suppose in the future I could ask to go light on the toppings. But I'd rather they be generous rather than skimpy.

Schreiner's has a new staff of younger people, many of whom exhibit an unfortunate lack of hospitality, and for an establishment that serves sandwiches and deli meats, if kindness and gratitude for your loyal guests is not enough for you to manage from your position with such a once great establishment, then you my young friends are without a doubt not cut out to be in the food service industry. I recently returned after a year away (May 2026), and I was shocked. The new employees were incredibly rude. There was no sense of hospitality whatsoever: no smiles, no warmth, and not even basic politeness. The cashier, for example, a young woman in her early twenties, could benefit from serious customer service training. I left with my favorite foods, but also feeling very disappointed and upset. This store has been an institution since 1952, but it won't continue to thrive if this decline in customer service continues.

At this point a gentleman from the back let us know that they would be able to accommodate our request, and the woman again appeared to write something down. We ordered a pastrami sandwich, add pickles. Again, finger wag. At this point we were told pickles will come on the side. Ok, understandable. Get me out of here. Ordered two more sandwiches with no specifications because we didn't feel like being berated again. Now the credit card transaction: Woman didn't understand how to handle the transaction, again the gentleman from the back had to explain to her that she can tap the card on the machine. After 20 minutes we received our food with absolutely zero modifications and no explanation. I guess she was faking writing down what we would like. Honestly, the worst part was the sandwiches weren't even great. For such a highly rated place, my entire team was disappointed with our orders. We could've made better at home with a normal amount of effort. Not worth the time, hassle, or attitude. Will not return, and left a bad taste in our mouths for the local businesses. For a town recovering from a disaster, you sure aren't friendly.

It felt like there was no salt to enhance or bring out any flavors so I just bit into bland (and rather stale) dough. The creme brûlée texture was also off but there was at least somewhat of a sweet flavor. I'm just a bit sad that the reviews told a story of tasty treats but maybe I went on an off day.
