I recently went in and ordered a Philly cheesesteak over the counter. I waited patiently, tipped well, and about 20 minutes later an employee looked me directly in the eye, handed me a sandwich, and told me my order was ready. I got home, opened the sandwich, and found a turkey sandwich. Completely different order. I immediately called the store and explained what happened. Instead of an apology, I was told I needed to bring the sandwich back and that the entire sandwich needed to be there. Of course the entire sandwich was there. I hadn't touched it. I was also told they would start making my correct sandwich while I drove back. When I returned, the person I spoke with, who appeared to be a supervisor, manager, or owner, told me, "You must have taken the wrong sandwich." No. Your employee handed me the wrong sandwich and told me it was mine. When I explained that, the response was essentially, "Well, I was on break, so I don't know." That attitude bothered me far more than the original mistake. Mistakes happen. Handing someone the wrong sandwich is an easy mistake to forgive. What isn't so easy to overlook is treating the customer as though the mistake was somehow their fault, requiring them to drive all the way back, and showing virtually no apology or concern for wasting their time. Then came the replacement sandwich. The original cheesesteak I watched them prepare went through the pizza oven. The replacement did not. They also used American cheese instead of the cheese I ordered, and the sandwich was noticeably underbuilt, with very little meat, as shown in my photo. After the interaction I had just experienced, it was difficult not to view the replacement as passive-aggressive. What should have been simple was, "We're sorry. We handed you the wrong sandwich. We'll make this right." Instead, I felt accused, inconvenienced, and then handed a lesser sandwich as though they were doing me a favor. I've been coming here since the previous owners, going back to the late 1980s. Unfortunately, this also isn't the first time recently that I've received substandard service or a substandard product. At some point you have to stop judging a place by what it used to be and judge it by what it is today. For me, this experience did exactly that. THE FOOD IS O.K. =============== My husband and I decided to pop in early on April 16th for lunch. I wanted to try their chicken parmesan. My husband wanted to try their eggplant parmesan. We got there early around 11:00 a.m., but it took about 45 minutes to get our order to go. That seems a bit too long for take out. The parking lot is horrible. Think of Trader Joes, but 1/20 the size. People park in handicapped spots when they aren't handicapped. The spots are really narrow as well, so if you want a door ding this is the place to go. We drove my husband's Hyundai and he isn't concerned with door dings. I would never park my car in that lot. My chicken parmesan was weird. After a very long walk at Descanso Gardens, we felt hungry. We looked at Yelp and we found LC Imports. We found parking easily. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. They have pizza, homemade specialty pasta, homemade pasta dishes, salad trays, hot and cold sandwiches, Family size salads, family plate dishes, chicken wings, garlic bread, potato salad, in addition to special plates. They offer pizza by the slice, but it is either cheese or peperoni. The menu also includes carbonara, lasagna, chicken alfredo, Primavera veggie, three formaggi, ravioli to mention a few. For dessert, they have Tiramisu and cookies. We ordered many delicious dishes and sandwiches. We got the following; -Large veggies Phill sandwich 5/5 Fresh ingredients and very flavorful. It was huge. I just ate half of it and I was full. -Potato salad 5/5 Very creamy , rich and perfectly seasoned -Large Roast beef sandwich 5/5 It had generous layers of roast beef, rich and flavorful - Chicken Alfredo 5/5 It was creamy, rich in flavor, had generous amount of chicken. Food is great, but wish they would add onions to their sandwiches. Actually, wish they would add them to everything else as well. With a few exceptions, almost all of their salads, burgers, sandwiches, plates, etc. don't come with onions. In fact, if you order online or in the app, you can add all sorts of extra ingredients--everything but onions. It's not even an option. I used to really like this place. It's less than 5 minutes from my house and I've ordered from them many times -- their food is honestly very good. But my experiences with their service have been extremely disappointing. Three years ago, I placed a large order for a party and requested a specific delivery time. The food arrived 2.5 hours before the hour I requested. I asked them to take it back and deliver fresh food at the correct time, and while they agreed, they brought back the same cold, soggy pizza without even warming it. I tried multiple times to speak to a manager, but no one ever responded. After that, I stopped giving them my business. Today, after 3 years, I decided to give them another chance -- big mistake. I was told my delivery would take 45 minutes to an hour, but it arrived after 2 hours, again cold. I called several times, and each time they told me the driver would be there "any second," which was not true. The worst part was the delivery driver. My total was $33, and I gave him $40. Instead of a normal interaction, he showed up extremely unprofessional, with a very disrespectful attitude, and even raised his voice when I politely asked if they were busy. When I asked for my change, he looked at me in a very dismissive and rude manner and said, "how much do you want back?" -- all in front of my guests. It was very uncomfortable and completely unacceptable behavior. Because of his conduct, I ended up just telling him to keep the change -- essentially paying $7 for terrible service and his attitude. He then walked away without even saying thank you. I don't know who is running this business, but this level of service -- especially the driver's behavior -- is completely unacceptable. I've been craving meatballs and was curious about their pizza by the slice. Both were very good and I would again visit to try their subs or when the meatball craving hits. Came in for lunch today with my brother and was pretty excited to try this place. Ordered a sandwich which was good, and also ordered a pizza which was a little greasy, but pretty ok I guess. The service, however, was really bad. The woman who took our order is clearly lacking customer service training or just doesn't want to be, and shouldn't be, in the service industry. I hate when you order something and the response is "anything else?" Yes, in addition to the sandwich we would also like to order a large pizza. We have been ordering here for years! Tonight the delivery was 45 min late bit more importantly every single item was stone cold: when calling , the owner decided it was best argue with us forever. This place has great food. My fav is the barbecue chicken pizza!! But the attitude of the staff is not very welcoming - maybe I just catch them on not a very good day- and the wait time is long. They said 45 min. Total wait time ended up being almost another hour. It's fine if your busy but I used to work at a food place so it's not that hard to just give a longer wait time so ur waiting on people rather them waiting on you.
