I found some earrings that are cute, so I purchased two. My only gripe is how most of the jewelry sets are made in China, but that is expected, I guess. They have some of the best assortment of chocolates, and I'm always happy to see Chuao Chocolatier flavors. I need to return to try some of their Icelandic stuff. The employee at the checkout was extremely friendly and got my new number to be updated with my old account, so I managed to get a discount, thanks to him! World Market has got to be one of my favorite chains, since they carry some of my favorite foods and goods like Hanuta chocolate and Dallmayr coffee, as well as other specialty and imported items you would have a hard time retrieving because they simply wouldn't be found anywhere else. read more

Great place to shop for gifts for others or things for the home. Their bath mats and towels are all so cute! Saw some fun brand name shower steamers/bath bombs too. Cool selection of international snacks. If you have a pick up order you can go straight to the front of the store and wait by their pick up sign. I waited less than a minute before being helped. They do require ID for pick up orders. They offer 20% off if you are a member picking up in store! Just need to apply the online code on their website. The only thing I dislike about this store is the parking lot. Watch out for left turns out of the plaza, apparently there is a sign that says no left turn by one of the entrances and cops will absolutely ticket you. read more

Let's face it: there are few things that suck as bad as buying a rug. They're massive. They're expensive. It's almost impossible to tell if it's going to work in your room without getting it to your room. And then if it doesn't work, all the effort and expense you have to go to to get the damn thing back from whence it came, if that is even an option. Anyway, this is no longer my concern, thanks to Topher and Joaquin, both to be found at World Market in Glendale. I'd needed a rug to soften my sealed concrete floors for some time but really didn't want to gamble on having a kilim shipped from morocco, especially at $700-1100. Then one day, I decided to search for 'Jute rug Los Angeles' -- and boom, World Market popped up. I got to the store easily and found the rug section. Asked someone at the front for help, and seconds later, Topher came out and instantly started a conversation about rugs. He was willing to take the time to check out options, had some friendly aesthetic suggestions, a great sense of humor, and even went to the back to see if they had the rug I wanted rolled up already. They didn't have it so Topher went to the effort of taking down the 8x10 rug that was clipped to the racks. In the mean time, I discovered that there was a fantastic markdown, 30% off on the jute rug I wanted. And then Joaquin came, helped Topher get the thing down and roll it up -- he even carried it to the checkout, where I was delighted to again discover that by joining their World Market Rewards program, I could save an additional 15% -- all it took was 2 text messages. Is this real life? Jose rang me up on his second day on the job, and I'm forgetting the name of the manager who helped Jose out too, I think it started with a G and she was very patient and kind. All in all this was an effortlessly pleasant experience and I am definitely going to go back. While Cost Plus World Market is pretty no-nonsense, their blend of great options at fantastic prices and world-class customer service is making them a trusted destination for my interior design needs. I wanted to purchase 24 boxes of Lakerol Special. I went online to the Cost Plus website where it was stated that the Glendale store had 24+ available, so I placed an order to pick them up. The first order I made a mistake on my address, so I called to correct the mistake: Seriously the young man who answered could not have been more obtuse, obdurate or obfuscating. In fact he basically refused to answer my questions and kept ignoring me until I told him to "shut-up and listen". Then he still wouldn't listen or help me and kept yammering on & on & on... and when I asked to speak to a manager, he refused. All I wanted to do was have them hold the items & I'd come in and pay for them. Well, I couldn't do that, I had to call a different customer service number and reorder, besides, there were no Lakerol out, they were all in the back on a pallet and he was not going to unpack them for 3 days. No problem... I reordered the 24 online, correctly put in my payment information... The e-mail told me they'd notify me when my order was ready. Easy? Hell, no. My order was cancelled. So, 2 days later I ordered again.... next day, order cancelled. I ordered again (by then it had been 5 days) and again an e-mail stating they'd let me know when I could pick my order up. Well, that order was cancelled as well. I then wrote to the corporate office & on Sunday the 8th, I received an e-mail stating that my concern was forwarded to the Glendale store management & they would help me. I haven't heard a damn thing from this company. But I'll tell you this, I'll NEVER purchase anything from this company again. One of the things that I miss since moving away from California is Cost Plus World Market. This has always been one of my favorite places to shop, and it's amazing how much great stuff I can find here. Today I went back for an ornament. When I go on vacation I like to buy Christmas tree ornaments to remind me of my trips. I know they carry a nice selection (or they used to), so I went. They don't have as many as they did when I lived here, but they had enough that I was able to find one that I liked. And some tea in a collector's tin. And I needed pie shields and they had them as well. I did a little shopping and went away happy. I hope they will continue to expand and get to south Florida soon. read more

My favorite Sangria is Castaneda, the Red version. I haven't tried the white Sangria, but I'd like to try it one day. Castaneda Sangria is a brand that's specifically sold at Cost Plus World Market. I usually come here for the food items like hard to find foreign candy or for the Red Castaneda Sangria. They also sell furniture, which if you think about it, it's kinda strange. This place is amazing as is! It lives up to its name for sure. You can find a bit of everything from everywhere in the world. I love the knick knacks they always have in their boxes and on their check out line. Okay! But... What can make it better? Their scavenger hunt they currently have going on. Folks might not like the fact that I am mentioning it here and bringing more attention to it. Throughout the month of November (and only November), they will be hiding a golden sleigh and when you redeem them you can get a coupon reward of $20, $50, and $100. There are a few sleighs that are hidden so you have to get there right when it opens. How do you know where to find them? There will be a clue at a post near the entrance or you can find the clue on their website as well. Yes! I found one! It was so nerve wrecking yet exciting! Everyone wished each other good luck outside, HAHA! Then when the doors opened. Everyone went their separate ways. Once I found it. I was hiding the fact that found it and quietly went over to the register to get my coupon! I honestly didn't need anything from the store, but I wanted to play! Haha. This is one star for one specific experience (5 stars for my typical experience there). I live walking distance from this World Market so I go there often. Sometimes I bring my dog. Typically I have no issues and have asked if its okay and usually there is no problem. This is a very dog heavy and dog friendly area so dogs frequent this establishment w/owners often. Today however SHANNON took it upon herself to tell me (for the first time) that there is a 'no dog policy' and to 'remember that' the next time I come into the store. I found that odd since this had not been mentioned the many times I have previously patronized the establishment with my small dog. But okay- not a problem- I left and got into my car. I then noticed another couple walk in the store with their dog- right past SHANNON who clearly saw them and said nothing to them. I then came back into the World Market (without my dog) and watched as the couple with the cute dog walked all around the store and got in the line and checked out- right in front of SHANNON- who said nothing to them. Not to bury the lead- but it was a Caucasian couple. I am a Black Woman. As the couple left I approached SHANNON and asked her why the 'no dog' policy applied to some and not all. SHANNON didn't seem to be able to make words at this point and finally mumbled something about it was allowed because- 'They were holding the dog'. However this is not what SHANNON said to me, which I expressed. SHANNON told me: "We have a no dog policy. Remeber that the next time." Anyway- whatever the policy actually is- it's apparently on a case by case- or race by race- basis. Not good World Market. I love the store, the quality and cool items. I spend lots of time and money there. But that is unacceptable behavior. I reiterate- this is a review for my one experience today. The World Market (Cost Plus) sits right across the Mall from Michael's and since i was in the mood for a little browsing I checked it out today. Like Michael's this joint was teeming with sales people: much needed because this is a BIG store with a huge product line as in Wine to area Carpets to baking utensils and bottle of pickles and tins of those cookies that look that they are from Holland because of the windmills and Dutch blue on the tin visuals. You know, we've all seen them for years. In any event i like to check out the kitchen, cooking doo-dads here. I also found a container in which to send cookies though it is made of wood and decorated for Christmas and not too expensive, Service is primo as the place has a lot of people about waiting for questions and concerns. Of course i pick the one person who doesn't know what a cookie tin is. Nonetheless i picked up a first rate picnic set to give to a friend for xmas: one with glass champagne coupe's that looked as if it were made in France but was probably produced in Poland. No problem: it is still beautifully made and all of the components are first rate. A little pricey but for once...worth it. World Market is one of my absolute favorite stores in the country (or world ha) that I will never get tired of visiting. There are so many things to get caught up in that you won't even know where to begin. The variety of wines? Artisanal chocolates from different countries? Little stocking stuffers or picnic items for a date night? What about the adorable cards from the independent companies that you won't see at retail drugstores? Or the options of different colored mulberry gift wrapping paper? I especially love getting one of my favorite portable hand lotions from here to take to work. I also love looking at the decor pieces that you can accent your rooms with, such as their chairs or furniture accessories. The service here is wonderful and everybody is always happy coming here. It's December 19th, 6 days before Christmas and the people managing this store thought it would be a bright idea to have only 2 people at the cash registers. The line has reached all the way to the back of the store and we've now been standing in line for 30 min + and we're no where near the registers. There is probably 50 people in line. Located in same plaza as Ralphs and Marshalls, specifically next door to Nordstrom Rack. I stopped by this location after browsing the aisles at Nordstrom Rack this past Friday night. The reason why I came in here was because last week Cost Plus World Market had advertised that their Canadian snacks and pumpkin flavors items were an additional 20% off. So I came in here an hour before closing and just walked towards the back of the store, looking for these specific treats. Sadly I did not see them and so I went back to the front looking for an employee. Sadly there was none on the floor to be found. Eventually I found one at the register and asked this young man if he could help me. He told me he wasn't aware of the special advertisement (sad that they employees don't even know their own current weekly advertisement?) but showed me where I may find them. I ended up finding them before him, lol. I still thanked him for his time and then started picking which items I wanted. Then at the register, with 2 cashiers opened, it took a really long time for me to pay. There was only one customer with each cashier and so I was next but both parties took an incredibly long time (of course... :/ seems to always happen when you just want to get in and out...). When it was finally my turn to pay, the male employee who tried to help me earlier rang up my items. He tried to make small talk and asked if I was from Canada, lol. I told him absolutely not but that I just like their maple leaf treats. He placed my items in a paper bag with the receipt inside. Then thanked me for shopping and then I was off. Although I do not shop at Cost Plus World often, I do find delight in their seasonal and international items. But they are pricey.
