World Market (formerly Cost Plus) is such a cool store. Inside you'll find Artisan goods, unique gifts, housewares, international foods, and some eclectic wine & beer selections. I come here occasionally if I need a creative gift item, and I usually leave with something cool for myself. On my recent visit I purchased a gift card for a friend. Kaylin assisted me was friendly with a pleasant demeanor. Later in the day the checkout line is usually long. However, I was there early so it wasn't an issue. *Large parking lot.

I found some earrings that are cute, so I purchased two. My only gripe is how most of the jewelry sets are made in China, but that is expected, I guess. They have some of the best assortment of chocolates, and I'm always happy to see Chuao Chocolatier flavors. I need to return to try some of their Icelandic stuff. The employee at the checkout was extremely friendly and got my new number to be updated with my old account, so I managed to get a discount, thanks to him! World Market has got to be one of my favorite chains, since they carry some of my favorite foods and goods like Hanuta chocolate and Dallmayr coffee, as well as other specialty and imported items you would have a hard time retrieving because they simply wouldn't be found anywhere else.

I LOVE this store so much! I could spend hours in here lol. They have such great variety and wonderful pieces to decorate your home and outside. Wish they would open up a location closer to me.

Great place to shop for gifts for others or things for the home. Their bath mats and towels are all so cute! Saw some fun brand name shower steamers/bath bombs too. Cool selection of international snacks. If you have a pick up order you can go straight to the front of the store and wait by their pick up sign. I waited less than a minute before being helped. They do require ID for pick up orders. They offer 20% off if you are a member picking up in store! Just need to apply the online code on their website. The only thing I dislike about this store is the parking lot. Watch out for left turns out of the plaza, apparently there is a sign that says no left turn by one of the entrances and cops will absolutely ticket you.

I used to frequent this store all the time with my dog and it wasn't a problem. Now every time I go there they say, " no dogs allowed in the building" honestly I used to like this store but now I just see it as a bunch of junk you could find at the 99 Cents store, target, HomeGoods or TJ Maxx none of those other stores would kick me out when I'm with my dog so I'd rather spend my money elsewhere then come here to a Ranky janky dusty store that doesn't allow beautiful animals!!

(Shopped 10/09/20 FR & 12/16/20 WE @ 1:00pm each time and many times before): Truly a world market but certainly not as costly compared to traveling the world in search for these items which was a plus! I've been a huge fan of the Cost Plus World Market brand since the travel bug bit me multiple times as early as my junior high school years when I ventured among the aisles, display tables, furniture, and more as a way to experience the world I eventually had the pleasure of only years later and continued to do so to this day. Flash-forward mainly from the initial Glendale location along Brand Blvd. to its current residence along Glendale Ave., it's been years since I last shopped here until these two recent excursions blamed partly on its proximity to Petco. Due to travel restrictions during this COVID-19 pandemic year, were these brief moments of vacationing enough to light the fire to return for more!? PURCHASE Various Wines ($66.19): https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3xQNbNfoUzKR6ioZ6dVzBw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw I was very much a wino but in a positive way because I knew what I enjoyed and had no qualms to venture out and sample selections I've never tried before predominantly around my $10.00 value price point. Known for a remarkably good choice of wines from around the world, here was a quick snapshot in case you're interested in trying something new: Gazela Vinho Verde $6.99 - Refreshing honeydew from start to finish. Leda Truffle Hunter Barbera D'Asti $8.99 - Bold berries with earthy oak tones. Mamamango Moscato $11.99 - You had me at mango! 2019 19 Crimes "Snoop Dogg" Cali Red $11.99 - Liked the label but not a fan of red blends. 2018 Wilder Chardonnay $9.99 - Lovely gentle peach accents throughout. 2018 Burnside Road Sauvignon Blanc $9.99 - Delightful floral aroma, citrus green apple flavor, and crisp finish. Walkers Wee Black Scottie Dog Cookie Tin ($16.99): A purely impulse buy because of the new Scottish Terrier puppy in the household, the packaging was captivating, and we both loved the buttery cookies this world-famous brand made; damn you marketers with this limited edition holiday container https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=CBSHTFSbCZjM-ZsovryuJQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE Due to the mandated social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19 during Coronavirus 2020, they required worn face masks, limited shoppers, and encouraged online orders for easy pick-up. The full staff were courteous, helpful, and efficient during each visit. All was grand with me! PARKING (FREE) Located in the outdoor Glendale Fashion Center, they shared a large-sized overground exposed and underground covered parking lot with several businesses such as Ralphs, Staples, Michael's, Petco, and more. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of street parking on most surrounding streets excluding the main drag of Glendale Ave. - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A medium-sized store that had a bazaar feel with its very worldly products and wares located in their own respective areas: food and wines at the back, furniture and rugs on the right, houseware on the left, randomness in the middle. Plenty of promotional signs and visuals stimulated your senses as you walked throughout this emporium. Decent natural lighting came through the large front glass windows and doors while bright electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs, but music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I still adored Glendale's Cost Plus World Market location and was back on my radar again. Throughout the years, I believed I bought at least one item from each of different departments and in fact bought my very first piece of furniture which I still had to this day! The product mix was very good and changed regularly, so if you saw something you liked don't wait until next time. The prices may be a tick higher due to most items being imported. The eclectic staff was always appreciated. And, if you joined their free membership, you earned points with every dollar spent towards future discounts and dollars off. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $85.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

My favorite Sangria is Castaneda, the Red version. I haven't tried the white Sangria, but I'd like to try it one day. Castaneda Sangria is a brand that's specifically sold at Cost Plus World Market. I usually come here for the food items like hard to find foreign candy or for the Red Castaneda Sangria. They also sell furniture, which if you think about it, it's kinda strange. It's a very good store, and I appreciate this location.

Parking is not an issue because there is lots of street parking nearby. When you get inside, you immediately feel like you're in another world. There truly is no store like this in the area. The owner, Arax, makes many of her items and curates the rest with quality pieces at affordable prices. I love the eclectic style in this place and Arax is so helpful when you are asking about items. There's a unique assortment of many things, including home decor, jewelry, and bath and spa products. I particularly love the jewelry section, which she told me she constantly updates. I bought a necklace I loved and had to get a sage bundle- which comes with a crystal and two pieces of palo santo. For under $25- this is a steal and I definitely think it's a great gift. Arax even threw in some extra palo santo in my order for free which was a nice surprise! Overall, a really cool store that I totally recommend when you're looking for a a special gift for someone... or yourself because something you just have to #treatyoself. I certainly did-- and will be back!

Another employee noticed that we needed assistance and stepped in, which I appreciated. When it came time to complete the exchange and payment, Liana began explaining the process. As customers, we asked additional questions to better understand the store's policy. At that point, Liana became visibly frustrated, gave us an attitude, rolled her eyes, and stepped away. She then made comments to another customer in a way that made it obvious she was referring to us, assuming we would not understand or speak up. I want to be clear: treating any customer this way is unacceptable, especially an elderly customer. If an employee does not have the patience to explain policies or answer questions respectfully--without making customers feel uncomfortable or disrespected--then customer service may not be the right position for them. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but working in customer service requires patience, professionalism, and respect at all times. Answering questions and repeating explanations is part of the job. I hope management reviews this situation and addresses it appropriately with the employee involved. No customer should feel disrespected or talked about while standing at the counter. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
