The Rainforest Cafe holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Since most have closed in my area I was excited to visit one and relive that childhood magic. The magic and ambiance is still there. The excitement at the thunderstorm and the all moving animals but either my palate has drastically changed as an adult, or the food has digressed because our dishes were not good. I went with 3 other friends. 1 friend chose the Amazon Rainforest Burger ($20), another the Awesome Appetizer Adventure ($24), another a Turkey Sandwich, and I a Chicken Sandwich. The food took a while to arrive, but that is OK, there was a lot to entertain. When the food did come we were a bit disappointed. The burger and my chicken sandwich were fine. Nothing amazing but did the job as we were really hungry. Unfortunately, my other friends did not fare so well. Half of the items on the Appetizer platter were cold and hard, my friend barely touched it. My friend who ordered the turkey sandwich only had a bite before letting it go, saying that the spread tasted off. This may have just been personal preference, so not necessarily the fault of the Rainforest Cafe, but still a shame. All in all the service was fine, the ambiance was nostalgic but the food was subpar (at least what we ordered). I would return for the memories and perhaps a drink and desert but not necessarily the food. read more

I'll start with the most important part: the ribs are easily the best thing on the menu. I honestly recommend you buy a full rack and split it with a friend or two. If you get an appetizer and an extra side, I'd say a rack covers 4 people. Get the ribs. I tried to pick up the bone with my hand and the meat fell off the bone. There was no consuming it without a fork. I tried to suck some of the BBQ sauce off one of the ends and marrow came out. This is seriously well-done slow cooking. The fries are also perfect and major-allergen free. They're made in a dedicated fryer with the tortilla chips and nothing else. On that note, I'll say that I came in with a list of allergies, and Sean the chef came out and reasoned through what my friend and I could eat on the menu. Then he personally made/oversaw our food and brought it out himself. The service was outstanding. I was so excited to eat a third of my meal and save the rest to bring home to my tired husband. My kids loved their Dino nuggets and pizza. My friend loved her ginormous burger with gluten free bun. She thinks her meal should have been split in half as well. The only drawbacks: hire more folks. Ms. Sierra was excellent, but with big families coming in it was hard to see her sometimes. She made sure our drinks stayed full which was awesome. If you have children, this place might be worth stopping in. It gets crowded pretty quickly on the weekends, so be prepared to wait. I will say...the food is not over-the-top. Pretty basic. But, truly you're there for the ambiance and experience. The decor, brief shows, and atmosphere. Our server, Mulontaey was amazing and made our visit worth. He has a great personality that made us feel welcomed. He recommended a few of his favorite dishes, and they all were spot on. Our fav dishes were the Korean Chicken Lettuce wraps and the Pastalaya (ask for alfredo sauce on the side, it helps it out). Thanks again, Mulontaey!! This was my first time here and we came in with a reservation as I have heard it can be a line waiting. So we sat down and about 45 mins later we have our drinks and appetizers. At no point did we get any silverware the entire time. An hour and 45 mins later we got food after complaining to the manager George made nothing but excuses. When I mentioned that the table behind us came in way later and have already been served and are finished he said well they ordered pasta. I said so did I he said since we have a bigger group (6 to the 4) that it can take 1 to 1 1/2 hours. I said we have been here past that he said yes 1 hour 38 mins. Further proving my point. He said the chef is playing and it will be out shortly. About 8-10 minutes later the first 2 plates show up and one is completely wrong. The service was good and friendly and we had fun with the thunderstorms as well. You are paying extra for the animatronics and fish tanks. That extra cost was steep for bad tasting food. The food is less then mid and disappointing for the cost. Would not come back to eat. The gift shop is cute. The price is far to high for what you get. The server didn't check in on our party at all for refills, etc the entire time... only saw her for the initial order, when the food arrived & to bring the check :). When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told we had to wait an hour and that we would be added to the waiting list. After waiting for more than an hour and a half, we went back to ask again and were treated very rudely. They even made fun of our English accent, even though it's clearly not our first language. We were told that we were not on the list. I want to emphasize that we were discriminated against and mistreated. We were a party of five. When another hostess noticed how we were being treated, she approached us, spoke to the person at the front (who was also Hispanic), and instructed them to let us in, confirming that we were indeed on the list and to assign us a table. The entire experience was discriminatory and disrespectful. When we were finally taken to our table, the hostess continued to mock us and make faces. It was a terrible experience, and I do not recommend this place to anyone. The food took an hour to arrive, and when it did, it was cold. The bread was burned. There was only one server for the entire area, and he was running back and forth trying his best. This is not a complaint about the server, as he did his best, but rather about the staff at the front. You should not discriminate against or mistreat customers--especially when they are spending around $200 on a meal that is not worth it. I do not recommend this place. Do not go. read more

It was busy as expected, however the service was mediocre, our waiter told us he was ready to go home as he took our drink order, pure chaos in there. Don't let the poor reviews scare you away! My family truly enjoyed our meal at the Rainforest Cafe. We made a reservation ahead of time. I learned the first time I visited you need a reservation... Make sure you make a reservation if you plan to visit. We ordered fish tacos and they were amazing! I was actually surprised. So flavorful. The fish was cooked perfectly. I will admit they are world class animatronics but my 3 year old really enjoyed them. He thought it was the coolest thing to eat dinner in the jungle. My mother and I were at the Grapevine Mills this past weekend to shop and decided to revisit the Rainforest Cafe since it's been awhile when we dine at a Rainforest Cafe restaurant particularly this location. We had a 30 minutes wait for our table so we decided to walk around the mall during that time we were waiting to be seated at the restaurant. When our table was ready, we were seated near the animatronic elephant based on personal preference. Our waitress was very nice, friendly, and very attentive to our needs throughout our whole experience. We ordered the appetizer sampler which consists of chicken tenders, spinach dip, mini cheese ball, and chimi cha Chas. We substituted chimi cha Chas for additional chicken tenders based on personal preferences. Our food came out less than 30 minutes. The food was decent but overpriced ($24.49 at the time this review has been established ) for the portion and quality we received. The spinach dip didn't have no flavor and tasted like it's been pre made rather than homemade. The mini cheese ball and chicken tenders was ok as well but again lack flavor. The faux rainforest environment with animatronic animals was nice and really make you feel like your inside an actual rainforest which is what you paying for. Overall, we had a good time dining in a faux rainforest atmosphere with animated scenes and would recommend it for children, families, or if you're just want to dine in a unique theme environment. However, I wouldn't recommend going there if you're expecting high quality food. read more

So the service was good!! Place was clean but slightly loud. Mainly the food was honestly a miss. We started off with the chicken quesadilla and it was ok! Nothing too bad with it, but also nothing over the top amazing. The combo fajitas though was so bad :( the veggies were on the raw side, the steak was extremely tough and limited (3 small pieces) and the chicken was dry. Kinda seemed like the business charges more for a "combo" meat option yet gives you more of the "cheaper" meat so they don't have to put more of the other kind. And all of it was unseasoned. We shared the volcanic dessert and it was also just ok. The cake was dry and there was way more whip cream than ice cream (another instance where I think the restaurant is cutting costs), but nothing wrong with it. Honestly the food was underwhelming. I wish I could review solely on the service of our great bartender Justin. I would give 5+ 's. Justin is charismatic, attentive, and has a great memory of his customers...We missed our reservation for our granddaughter's 3rd Birthday Dinner because our daughter (who has 2 children- 3 years old and 3 months old) was running late and this restaurant won't seat a party until EVERYONE arrives. We couldn't even set up a cute birthday table for a 3 year old because we weren't all accounted for. We waited in the bar (where we ordered drinks and apps from Justin) and when our party of 4 adults and 1 child and baby were all present, we were told our reservation was no longer available. So we were given the option of eating in the bar (for a 3 year olds birthday). This is THE MOST ABDURD rule for a primarily children's restaurant. Thank goodness for Justin. None of us have never been to a Rainforest Cafe and I booked a 10:45 am reservation on a Monday morning. Yes we were the first people there, but our waiter, the food, whole experience was a good one. We ordered the awesome appetizer, Korean lettuce wraps, split the taste of the island and my kids picked their own kids meals. Yes it's pricey but you're paying for the name and experience. Not going to lie this place was extremely disappointing. We came for my daughters birthday and had 0 birthday song or dessert offered. We paid for the dessert. Which is fine! But the food was terrible. Kids meals are basically what you see in your local freezer section. Freezer nuggets and hot dogs and 2 orange slices. We also saw online you get to keep the cup and Rainforest kids plate but we're told no that we needed to buy a birthday package. The adult meals are WAYYYY overpriced for what it is. Both my husband and my meal tasted like it was frozen then cooked and put over some rice. All the vegetables were mush and the chicken was extremely rubbery. For $23-27/plate the food better be damn good. They also have a girl walking around asking to take your complimentary photo. The photo came out and she asked what frame we wanted, once we chose we were told it would be $10.99.... For the "complementary" photo. We came here for my son's Birthday. We had tried to come on the weekend but they were super busy with all the folks from weekend shopping, opening of Meow Wolf museum, and all the kids playing from Lego Land and Sea Life. We were part of the Landry Club so we were seated quickly on a Monday evening. While the service was fast, our server seemed a little tired and missed several details. We actually asked another server for a spoon. The food was surprisingly tasty despite the service. In their defense, I think thr waiters and waitresses were tired from the weekend. Giving this place 2.5 stars. I honestly came here with pretty low expectations because I've always heard that it's more for the experience rather than the taste and quality of the food, and that is pretty spot on. We were at Grapevine Mills because our kids had visited Lego Land and my son is obsessed with animals, so we figured this would be a great experience for him to dine in a "rainforest" with animals around him. We started off with the appetizer sampler, which came with spinach dip, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and southwest eggrolls. This is a pretty decent size that can be shared with 4 people. Nothing spectacular about this as it was all fairly basic food options. We ordered the pepperoni pizza kid's meal for my son, which he seemed to enjoy. For our main entree, my husband and I ordered the Pastalaya, which is supposed to be spicy, and the Taste of the Islands. I was utterly disappointed with the Pastalaya and how BLAND the dish was. The only saving grace was drenching it in tabasco. So disappointing because it sounded delicious, but it literally had zero flavor. The Taste of the Islands was probably the better choice of the two, but it was coconut shrimp, rice, fries, mango "habanero" shrimp (not spicy AT ALL), and jerk seasoned tilapia with mango salsa. The mango habanero shrimp and tilapia were both pretty good but both were still a little under seasoned as well and lacked flavor overall. Overall, the ambiance and the experience is what we came for and I'm glad my son at least enjoyed his dining experience there. However, we would probably never return here for the food as it is also fairly pricey for the lackluster food you get here. read more
