The entire process from start to finish was seamless and easy. When they came to give us a quote, Kelson came and was so professional and knowledgeable that we decided to go with them. They explained what was wrong with our roof, the issues from the recent rain and hail storm (who knew that we even had hail storms here in Kuli'ou'ou). The explained the process, their recommendations, and everything we needed to know to get the roof repaired. They also scheduled a time to come and tarp the areas of our roof that had the leaks so that in the meantime, if it rained, we wouldn't have a roof that was leaking into our home. I didn't even know you could tarp a roof before this experience lol. They did a great job because it stormed quite hard the day after they put the tarp patching and not a single drop of water got through. When the time to actually install the roof came, they dropped all the supplies off the day before and then the next day, a crew of guys came to our home and got moving. They laid tarps down on the ground around the house to catch debris and they put a dumpster in our driveweay to throw all the old roofing into. They managed to do our entire roof in a day even though they had projected it could take 2 days previously, the weather cooperated and this team of absolute professionals did an amazing and seamless job. They were moving like a well-oiled machine, disassembling the old roof and then checking and repairing the damaged board underneath the shingles. I learned how shoddy the original build work was when this house was built 20 years ago. But not to worry because Paul's Roofing repaired the damage and put a beautiful new roof up for us. They worked all day long... in the hot sun... smiles on their faces.... I was in awe. When they were done with the work, they hauled away all the rubbish, cleaned the perimeter of our yard of any debris and nails, ran a magnet thing around the yard to pick up any metal that might have been missed and they went home. It was the best experience with a roof contractor that I've ever had. They made it easy and hassle-free. They kept my husband and I informed and helped us to feel comfortable with the entire process. (Kapolei has very few thunder storms) that's when I found out my roof of 29 years was starting to need repair or replacement with a leak. I contacted my insurance, which I was told by several roofers that I should have contacted roofers first. I got quotes from 5 different companies. I chose M & R Roofing because Aaron has a CAN DO attitude and drive. Aaron provided me with not the cheapest but not the most expensive estimate. It was a very complicated job, 2 story, removal/replace 36 leased solar panels (I had to use an authorized company, Revolusun. Geoff Lee) Fyi.. M & R Roofing works with a solar company that would have been half the cost. COMMUNICATION On point from day one, Aaron answered all my calls 90% of the time, and he returned my calls. He addressed all my concerns, and I did not feel that I was being played cause I am a woman. Aaron also communicated with Revolusun to coordinate the project. Aaron also submitted my change of shingle and gutter design install to association. Approved the first time. We ran into some roof issues but the crew communicated to Aaron and he called me, problems solved, no nickel and dime. CREW Crew showed up, bunch hard working Filipino crew. Singing oldies but goodies. Clean up daily (I did find a couple of nails, but that's a given) Aaron also had the respect of the crew cause he took care of them. After the $76,000 roof was installed in December 2025 I noticed that the gutters were leaking. I immediately called and texted Aaron to please come take a look. That text was sent on January 4. For the next three months I got nothing but excuses and a disgusting photo of his infected foot - apparently the reason he couldn't come look at my roof. Finally, on March 27 some guys were sent to repair the leaks. Cut to August 16 when the gutters blew off. Again, I immediately texted and called Aaron who told me that "unfortunately, this was not covered under my seven year warranty because it was an act of God." First, I reviewed the contract which did not state the exclusion. Second, I asked Aaron how he could possibly know that it was neither a manufacturing or installation issue when he hasn't even seen it. He told me the owner of the company would call me. That was a month ago. No one has ever followed up. Both my husband and I have called and texted countless times - at least 10. This company is unreliable and shady. Do NOT use them. They will take your money and walk away without standing behind their product. We paid almost $80,000 to be ignored. If you live in Hawaii you need a reliable roofer. M&R Roofing is the WRONG choice.

Called Jes and he came out super quick to take a look. He found that ants had ate their way under the roof sheeting and water was getting in from there. My husband called uncle Jes to come by and he sent his brother instead (whose availability depends on his location - he mentioned working on a neighbor island too). His brother came to "fix" our skylight and patched some areas on our roof, which we appreciated at the time. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. We had a drizzle during hard rains; clearly it wasn't fixed. After many ignored calls and no follow-up, we hired another roofing company to address the skylight, along with repairs for wood rot on our rafters & eaves. What we learned from the new roofers was that our roof installation wasn't done properly and definitely not up to standard. Pamalu should have removed the old, multiple damaged layers of rolled roofing (a full tear-off) instead of just overlaying the new one on top. We were advised that, due to this installation lacking a full tear-off, the roof is likely to need a full replacement in the next five years or so. In contrast, during our consultation, uncle Jes stated it should last 20 years and comes with warranty. That's a disappointingly huge gap in expectations. Ignorance was truly bliss and I'm honestly embarrassed about my old review now that we know more.
