After the $76,000 roof was installed in December 2025 I noticed that the gutters were leaking. I immediately called and texted Aaron to please come take a look. That text was sent on January 4. For the next three months I got nothing but excuses and a disgusting photo of his infected foot - apparently the reason he couldn't come look at my roof. Finally, on March 27 some guys were sent to repair the leaks. Cut to August 16 when the gutters blew off. Again, I immediately texted and called Aaron who told me that "unfortunately, this was not covered under my seven year warranty because it was an act of God." First, I reviewed the contract which did not state the exclusion. Second, I asked Aaron how he could possibly know that it was neither a manufacturing or installation issue when he hasn't even seen it. He told me the owner of the company would call me. That was a month ago. No one has ever followed up. Both my husband and I have called and texted countless times - at least 10. This company is unreliable and shady. Do NOT use them. They will take your money and walk away without standing behind their product. We paid almost $80,000 to be ignored. If you live in Hawaii you need a reliable roofer. M&R Roofing is the WRONG choice.

Koolau Roof Tech., business owner (Kirt), was very professional, and knowledgeable about roofing shingles, yet really humble and cordial. After inspecting the condition of the roof for the rejuvenation spray, Kirt also mentioned several items that should be addressed on my roof. He also addressed any concerns and asked whether I had any further questions. Kirt later provided a detailed comprehensive report, with images of the roof areas to be sprayed, the missing shingle caps, and the cracked vents. The report fully explained what would be done to bring the roof back into shape, and the cost. The morning of the roof spray was seamless. Kirt was very prompt and informed me of his arrival time. It took only several hours to complete the tasks, and Kirt and his assistant (Father) were once again very professional and cordial. Everything around the perimeter of the house were returned to the original location, and they really prepped the areas on the ground to minimize the overspray. Upon completion of the job, I could immediately tell the difference in the roof shingles. What really impressed me was the detailed post roof spray report. Images were provided of the roof spray before, during and after, and all the completed roof caps and cracked vents. I asked if he could come lay down an emergency tarp and he simply stated he would be at my house in 45 min. 15 min later Kevin rang my doorbell and immediately jumped onto the roof to start bolting down the mitigation in the middle of the chaos. He even came back for free to help make adjustments the following day to better address the affected areas. After the storm I had them replace my entire downstairs and upstairs roof and they did an excellent job. Any concerns we brought up were addressed thoughtfully and immediately. Called Jes and he came out super quick to take a look. He found that ants had ate their way under the roof sheeting and water was getting in from there. My husband called uncle Jes to come by and he sent his brother instead (whose availability depends on his location - he mentioned working on a neighbor island too). His brother came to "fix" our skylight and patched some areas on our roof, which we appreciated at the time. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. We had a drizzle during hard rains; clearly it wasn't fixed. After many ignored calls and no follow-up, we hired another roofing company to address the skylight, along with repairs for wood rot on our rafters & eaves. What we learned from the new roofers was that our roof installation wasn't done properly and definitely not up to standard. Pamalu should have removed the old, multiple damaged layers of rolled roofing (a full tear-off) instead of just overlaying the new one on top. We were advised that, due to this installation lacking a full tear-off, the roof is likely to need a full replacement in the next five years or so. In contrast, during our consultation, uncle Jes stated it should last 20 years and comes with warranty. That's a disappointingly huge gap in expectations. Ignorance was truly bliss and I'm honestly embarrassed about my old review now that we know more.

I had hired MRC to fix my back roof to my Manoa residence in 2013. MRC matched the color scheme of…read moremy middle roof as close as possible. I was so pleased with MRC's workmanship and color selection that I hired MRC to roof my new recreation room in 2022 to match the rear roof and again I found the workmanship and the color match to be superb. Recently in early 2026, my hip and ridge cap were damaged and when I contacted MRC again and I met a salesman named John Vaughn who I had never known or dealt with before. I instructed him to try to match the gray front roof and he assured me that the shingles would. The contract specified Resawn shake to match existing roof and ridge as closely as possible. I did not choose that color and was told that Resawn was the only matching shake MRC had and I had no choice. He never showed me the different color schemes MRC had but insisted that Resawn was the best color. He did insert a note that the Resawn shake (tan) would match the existIng gray presidential shingles as close as possible. When I asked him if that was the closest he said that there was no other gray shake that MRC had that could match and assured me that the Resawn shake was the closest they had. When the workers came they questioned me as to why the gray shake was not selected because the Resawn was not even close in color. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor, he admitted that Resawn was not the correct color and that gray colored shakes should have been used. Subsequently John Vaughn returned to inspect the job and when I confronted him about the color match he feigned complete ignorance as to whether MRC had any gray colored shakes. In response to my question as to whether he was fully aware of his company's product line, he flippantly said that maybe he was "stupid" and drove away without attempting to resolve the dispute. I found the workmanship to be great. My issue concerns the color scheme that John Vaughn selected for me and the misrepresentation that salesman John Vaughn made to me. I am still hoping that his supervisors will still work with me to correct this. I think that consumers should be extremely careful when dealing with John Vaughn or any salesman and not trust him or others to select a matching "color scheme " for you. Rather require all salesmen to show you a brochure of all shake colors and obtain an actual shake sample before signing a contract.

Billy looked over the roof, gave me a proposal that same day, and started work the following week. Our new roof was power washed, repaired, and properly sealed in about 3 days! Billy took photos for us to give to our insurance agent and communicated every step of the way. The yard was completely cleaned of any debris and it's such a joy not to have to worry about the job being done properly! Hire them--you won't regret it!

Wes Nomura was very responsive and came out with the roofer to provide the estimate for repair. We were able to schedule the repair in a timely manner, right after Christmas. The crew did a great job and shared the photos of the finished job with us. We had Gaco S-20 silicone applied to the flat sections and the skylight flashings redone/resealed. So far, we have no more evidence of leaks after the couple days of heavy rains in Jan. 2022. FYI-we have a 3-story home with a concrete tile roof and can check the attic for leaks. Does anyone know what is going on with United Roofing & Rain Gutters? I had them install some rain…read moregutters a couple of years ago and tried to call them today to ask them a question. A recorded message said that calls cannot be accepted on that number (808-256-6433). Then I discovered that their website is not up any more. And then I found a note on the Better Business Bureau website saying, "BBB confirmed that United Roofing and Rain Gutters had not obtained a necessary license from Hawaii - Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs (DCCA)." They must have let their license lapse, as they were licensed when they did the work for me. Anyone know what's going on?
