I think they did a very fast and professional job on my girlfriends roof. They dropped off the supplied on a Friday and came on an early Saturday morning while we were on vacation. I was referred to Kimoto Roofing. I have Japanese tile roof which can be easily broken and slippery. Rob came the next day to check out the roof. Apparently there were many cracked tiles, probably when panels were put in, tenting and/or neighbor's avocados. He checked for this type of tiles and the color. Recommended extra tiles because not many in my color which I did want. Rob and his helper went straight to work for many hours (in the hot sun and no breeze) due to the tile being slippery, not to cause further breakage and must do one at a time). They then carefully brought in the extra tiles for storage. Very happy with the work of Rob and advice on the care of the roof. read more

After reading some of the reviews here on Yelp I was impressed and decided to give Robert a call and request a bid from Kimoto Roofing to reroof my home and clean the gutters. As I found, he is in high demand and as it says on Yelp to wait at least 2 days for a response. (Thank-you Yelp) and he was not the quickest to respond, as an owner, he does the work, hands on himself, with his crew but he did call me within 2 days and we set a time to meet right away. He has extensive experience in both types of roofing and is very meticulous and through. He was friendly and quickly sent me a bid after our meet that was very reasonable for both types of roofing to consider. He was very patient in waiting for our final decision and answered all my questions in between. After a very careful analysis and some personal obstacles, I chose him to do our roof and I'm very glad that I did! He scheduled the work immediately as the decision to go ahead was long delayed. (I think he accommodated me) and came out with a large crew that finished the job way ahead of schedule (2-3 days est. but in fact in one day!) They left everything clean and hauled all the debris away. I highly recommend considering Robert Kimoto's Company. They have gotten great reviews here on Yelp and why I considered him in the first place. After a through analysis of many fine companies for my particular situation, I chose Robert as his proposal was clear and to the point and was much more through in approaching the proper solution and application. He was very adamant about doing the job properly and from scratch. This company came to my parents house to redo the roof. Within the warranty period, the roof began to leak, so they called Mr. Kimoto, he said he'll let them know when he can come over. He never called. They called, texted and emailed. Nothing. Not until they sent him a picture of the flooding did he actually call back. They finally came to fix the roof. But couple months later, the board on the inside started warping, so they called him again. Same results. They contacted. Lawyer and the lawyer sent him a letter. He sent some workers who came in an audi, they didn't ask if the could use the outlet. They just plugged in their staple guns. Didn't have a ladder. Then Mr kimoto comes and just walks in the house without a word, so my dad asked who are you? My dad tried to explain to him what he thinks happened. Mr. Kimot walks out, w/o a word and leaves. Apparently he left to get a ladder. So they just staple the board down and leave. Mr. Kimoto then said to my parents, "you are not the ones, we are busy" and walked out. But when your roof is leaking and you are waiting almost a year to get it fixed, I think he should think about the jobs he did and not just about getting new jobs. After several quotes, I decided to hire Kimoto Roofing to do the work. All the roofers basically told me that my roof was not leaking but the skylight needed to get sealed. The reason I chose Kimoto roofing is that the owner, Rob, gets involved with the job himself. His quote was also directly to the point and clearly written so that you know what work he will do (detailed on materials he will use). Some of the other roofers would not guarantee their work, but Rob's quote did have a 2 year guarantee. My job was not major roof repair but Rob took the time to explain in detail what and how he works. I am really not that knowledgeable with roof repairs but I sent all the quotes i got to some friends who know better than me, and they all said Kimoto was probably the best pick. Rob came to fix the skylight and install new lead pipe flashing and arrived on time and completed the job pretty quickly. As a whole, I do tend to check things out thoroughly and can be pretty skeptical at time, but Rob was able to answer my concerns - excellent communication-. He seems to be pretty busy but worth the wait. My roof is too important (even for smaller jobs like this) and I need to be careful who I choose to do any repairs. We had an intermittent, tricky leak in our roof for which we called other roofers to look at over the years through just the last couple of weeks. This time around, we knew we weren't going to easily get anyone in to look at it because it's been raining so much. Still, we didn't expect that these other guys would say yes to coming over then never show up. Enter Rob of Kimoto Roofing. He said he'd come over to take a look the morning I contacted him, and he did! Rob is a really great guy, very easy to talk to, and conscientious. We explained that the leak has never really been diagnosed completely and that even after all the "fixes" over the years, it still isn't exactly dry. Rob got up on the roof with a water hose, and after two tests, he found out exactly where the problem was. Finally! And now, we have the driest ceiling we've had in a while. After researching and reviewing comments on Yelp, I decided to contact Kimoto Roofing to check on my roof after detecting a wet spot in my home. I left my contact email and received a prompt response from Rob, the owner of the company. We set up an appointment and Rob arrived promptly and did a scope of my roof. At the end of the appointment, Rob said he'll contact me in 48 hours with an estimate. After four days, I still haven't heard from him. I sent a text and an email and still received no reply from him. Where is the basic courtesy of notifying the customer if you can't or won't do the work? What a waste of time for both of us. As so often happens in Hawaii where businesses seem not to care because they seem to be insulated from major competition. I am sure what Kimoto Roofing lacks another business will be able to do the job. read more

Rob was able to diagnose the where the leak was coming from quickly. He communicated well, letting us know when he would be able to fix our leak. In December of 2015 I had my aiea home reroofed by Robert kimoto. Robert did an excellent job in his estimating the job to what I wanted done. And did excellent job in completing job. He also helped my uncle tootie with the garage roof and also picking up the paint for the garage roof at no extra charge. He also did a few roof boards replacement on my home at no extra charge. All I can say is Robert kimoto is easy person to work with from start to finish of job. I had a tricky leak that I haven't been able to fix for a long time. I had 4 separate contractors try to fix it and they either didn't want to try to fix it, couldn't fix it, or didn't even bother to show up. Rob did some work for a coworker and he was very pleased. So I called him. Rob can be hard to reach, but that's because he's exceptional at what he does and is in high demand. On his first visit, he repaired 2 minor leaks without being asked to fix them. He knew they'd be simple. On his second visit, he water tested the area we thought was causing the leak. He successfully identified 5 tiny separate leaks (I thought it was one!). We are talking pin hole size. He then came back and fixed them all. When one didn't take and it leaked with those heavy rains in December, he was back in a matter of days to correct the problem. Naturally he stood by his work and didn't ask for additional money. He's extremely knowledgeable, meticulous, and methodical. Plus, he's a nice guy. Super trustworthy. My roof had been leaking for over a year. It would only occur after a heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. It would be just a trickle. The company that installed my roof came twice & suggested that I just place newspaper on the floor when I left home for long periods. In December of 2019 & January of 2020 frequent rain caused the leak to occur more often. I called several companies who did not even return my call. I contacted Robert for an estimate for roof repairs and re-roofing my garage for an insurance job due to wind damage. He fit me in to his busy schedule that same week. He sent me the estimate within a few days and included some options to choose from. He prices were fair market value and not over-inflated like the four other company's I took quotes from. In fact, he was way under their quotes. I hired him. He scheduled me within the week and explained in detail what would be involved, what I should expect and explained the time frame for the worst case and best case scenarios based on the variables like weather conditions, other repairs for damage yet unseen until they peel back the old roofing, etc. He and his crew arrived on time and proceeded with the work. Per my instructions, he should call me if he found any unseen damage that I should know about. I would have been very disappointed if he didn't call me because unknown to him, I already knew about some existing damage and was putting him through a test. He didn't disappoint. He called me about it, gave me my options and price quotes and again, he was very fair and honest. I authorized him to do the repair work. When I got home at 3:30 pm that day, the roof was completed, there was no rubbish or debris left around, it was if he wasn't even there and I had a new roof! He did an immaculate job, in a short amount of time. Not only did he do an excellent job on the roof, but he even went down to the store, purchased paint, and painted the wood repair work they did for me. He didn't even charge me for the paint and labor for the painting! I paid him for it anyway as I was thankful his diligence, honesty and integrity. Robert is amazing! A month later, I had a bad leak on my other unit. I immediately called Robert again. He scheduled me right away, again and what was supposed to be a three day job, he did it in two. This guy is amazing! You will do yourself a disservice if you don't get a quote from Robert before you make your final roofing decision. I am a small time real estate investor and have some rental units and networking with other investors and home owners. I have referred them to Robert and Kimoto Roofing for all their roofing needs.
