Rainbow Oaks is my home away from home. I've been a server here for 4 years since they re opened under the new management of Duke and Jonell and trust me what drastic improvements they have made to this long lost gem of a restaurant. I first came to the Oaks before their ownership as a customer when the bar was a dark and musty room and who knew what had died in the walls. The entire inside was gutted and transformed with refurbished wood from the 2009 fires... Everything from the tables to the walls... Even the beautiful bar top and unique bars stools still displaying charred remnants of the past. The interior also pays tribute to the local firefighters who fought the dreadful fires and even to the brave men and women of 911 with a plaque made from a piece of the tower given to us by a loyal customer. We also have a very woodsy cabin atmosphere with bear and small traps mounted on the walls and other impressive fishing and hunting accomplishments. Many biker groups have passed through as displayed by the many patches framed and put up around the bar as symbols of appreciation to the owners for providing such a welcoming establishment for everyone. I have had the opportunity to meet so many new and diverse people just from my few years waiting tables here its an all around comfortable and friendly place to be. Now onto the menu. I never knew good food until I worked here. Duke used to work as a Food and Beverage Director for the Marriott so his connections to the meat and produce world is amazing. Nothing but the best meats and ingredients are used in the making of everything that leaves the kitchen. Duke hand cuts all steaks himself, which includes rib eyes, New York strips and top sirloins. Our pancakes are made from special buttermilk and all our dressings/sauces/salsas are made homemade. Our newest creation is homemade green salsa which I don't know the secret to how it's made but it packs quite a kick that goes with our to die for brisket tacos that just melt in your mouth. We have daily specials from Sunday to Thursday and everyday is a treat. Here's the breakdown... Sunday: Turkey Dinner made with homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy and veggies. Our turkey is roasted and sliced on site. It's like having thanksgiving every Sunday. Monday: Corned Beef and Cabbage cut lean and served with creamed horseradish and red potatoes and carrots Tuesday: Homemade Fried Chicken made by our chef with the secret seasoning and very skilled at frying it at just the right temperature to ensure a crispy exterior with a moist and tasty interior. Wednesday: Our pride and joy the 20oz Prime Rib cooked to your desire from rare or dare I say well done. It cuts like butter and is the best prime rib I've ever had and I scoped out all the prime rib in the area and I do have to say we are spoiled with how delicious and flavorful it is. Thursday: Homemade Goulash or Stroganoff made with tender steak or primerib in homemade sauces. Perfect comfort food. Friday and Saturday specials change weekly and can offer homemade lasagna, brisket dinner, a 26oz bone in Ribeye known as our Tomahawk steak and many various delicious dishes. We have much pride in our breakfast menu as well. All omelets we offer are made with 3 eggs and are packed full of many ingredients whatever your heart desires with melted cheese on top. Our bacon is nice and crispy and our sausage links are plump and juicy. We serve various unique breakfast items such as Crab Cakes Benedict made with fresh crab cakes and homemade white sauce on top and for the brave we serve Wildboar, Alligator and Venison sausage links. For those with a sweet tooth we have blueberry French toast with blueberries baked into the bread. I could go on and on about the menu and how wonderful it is but really you need to just come in and experience it for yourself. We are open 7 days a week from 6am to 9pm. Don't let the crowds discourage you we are worth the wait. We accept reservations for parties of 8 or more so feel free to call us anytime. The staff is friendly and ready to help make your dining experience enjoyable. We may not be perfect and have policies that some don't agree with but that's the price we pay to make sure everyone has a pleasant and enjoyable experience at The Oaks. This USED to be a favorite place for me/my family. We live in Menifee, quite a drive but always thought worth it due to excellent meals and outstanding service. We wanted to get back for a nice lunch date on 4/21/21 so after many month of being away due to the pandemic, we made the special trip. We dined inside the main dining room, but unfortunately, the experience was terrible: Two party's with dogs were allowed in the main dining area - not service dogs-- not seated outside, not seated in the bar but the MAIN dining area. It is so gross to eat a meal in a restaurant that we consider close to fine dining with animals next to us. We love our pets but we know our pets are up to date on their shots and clean/groomed. We do not know how other people care for their fur babies, our rationale for this being unacceptable to include possible sensitivities to animals like dogs. Additionally, an employee working the lunch shift was taking drink orders for a large party next to us and he had a very dirty damp towel hanging from his apron/pocket, Gross. And, in-style or not, he was wearing a stocking cap, very ghetto. To top the experience off, I was served very old and overheated hot coffee (and I know my server knew it had to have been there for a long time along with the bartender where he got it from) and the same dog party of three (three dogs as well ) were talking on their cell phones ON SPEAKER. Did anyone say anyting to them? Nope and when my spouse quietly and privately asked them to turn their speakers off, we got a Efyou and they turned the volume UP. Sadly, we will not be back to what used to be our very favorite all-time sit down restaurant, no longer a positive dining experience. Clearly, the management has changed or is not involved. I can only give you a one-star because my spouses's meal, a Ruben, was great -- my tune melt, grilled with oil and no sign of being on a grill.. very soggy. Sad but true. read more

You Jonell are an idiot and you most likely just got your establishments liquor license suspended for 15 days as you just admitted on a public forum that you served an intoxicated person 3 beers (Sales to obviously intoxicated person(s) - 25602 B&P - 15 day suspension.) So I have printed out your comment, along with the incent report that was taken and mailed it to The CA ABC. Because it is pretty obvious by your description of my brother that he was intoxicated and you and your establishment decided to disregard the law, and serve him alcohol anyway, just like your husband disregarded the law when he physically assaulted him. I am pretty sure that he ABC will frown upon such behavior and monitor your "classy" establishment a little closer. That being said anyone who has any tact, couth, or business sense would have added the meal and beer to my brothers bill and replaced it for the patron, and allowed my brother to leave as he was doing so, because the person he was there with was attempting to pay the bill and leave with my brother. Maybe you should take a business course, or etiquette class, or maybe even just use common sense. If you don't like the way people act when they drink then you shouldn't serve alcohol. And I didn't have to be there, when YOUR patrons come up to me while I am standing outside and ask me if everything is ok and if I am ok, and then proceed to tell me that YOUR husband was out of control, I think I have it on pretty good authority to write what happened and let the public know just how dangerous and out of control YOUR establishment and YOUR husband is, and just how aggressive you as a 60 year old woman are. read more

I've been a customer of this restaurant for approximately fifteen years, so this review is not written lightly. During a recent lunchtime visit, the restaurant was busy and operating as usual. Background music was playing, and multiple TV screens were showing sports. Without any announcement or warning, the music abruptly stopped and the National Anthem began playing at a high volume. At the same time, every television switched to a full-screen image of the U.S. flag. The majority of patrons immediately stood, placed their hands over their hearts. For those of us who were unaware, the situation was confusing and uncomfortable. I stood out of respect, but the moment felt imposed rather than voluntary. What was most troubling was not the anthem itself, but the lack of choice. In a public dining space, this sudden, coordinated display felt less like patriotism and more like a right wing political demonstration. The atmosphere shifted instantly from casual and welcoming to rigid and exclusionary. Restaurants serve diverse communities. Introducing an unexpected, highly charged political ritual during a meal places patrons in an awkward position and risks alienating those who come simply to eat, relax, and enjoy conversation. This experience fundamentally changed how I view a place I once frequented and trusted. I hope the owners reconsider whether turning a dining room into a political stage is appropriate for a business meant to serve the public. read more

While returning from our timeshare, we searched for a breakfast spot and found this restaurant recommended on Apple Maps. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, we noticed a party of six requesting a back-corner table, but the host refused, stating it was reserved for parties of ten--despite the restaurant being only about half full. This set the tone for the rest of our visit. After reviewing the menu for several minutes, three out of four of us decided to order breakfast. With prices ranging from $20 to $22, we anticipated generous portions. However, after placing our orders, we were informed of an additional $0.55 surcharge per egg, adding $1.65 to each of our meals. Additionally, the $4.50 coffee was noticeably weak and watered down. Service was underwhelming, as our server seemed disinterested and inattentive, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued customers. While the food was decent, it was not exceptional. To top it off, we were charged a $3 surcharge for using a credit card--another unwelcome surprise. Overall, the restaurant felt overpriced and uninviting. If hidden fees and lackluster service don't bother you, it may be worth a visit. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

So I admit I made a yelp account to write a review and here is why. My family and I decided to try out this place we had heard so much about. We were prepared for how busy they were and unlucky for us they were expecting a large party so they were busier than usual and our wait time was a little longer. However when we were finally sat we were amazed on how well the staff handled such a large party (I estimated 50 or more) and yet still paid such good attention to us. One waitress even dealt with a table of angry customers upset that a group of bikers were crowding their table and she asked them to wait outside and they ignored her. The food was excellent and the staff I noticed was working hard. My one complaint is the hostess dressed like she was out of Dukes of Hazard. She was a young pretty girl in shorts and cowboy boots walking around and seating people. She didn't look like she worked there. For a family restaurant I feel like they should enforce a more appropriate dress code. Otherwise the food and service was excellent. read more

THE WORST WE'VE EVER EXPERIENCED!! I am a local in Rainbow California and have been for nearly a decade. Since the oaks is walking distance, my girlfriends and I decided to gather and have drinks for a close friends 60th.. When sitting outside on the veranda, We were SHUNNED and DISREGARDED, when inquiring about drinks, an "over-worked, or under-paid" young lady by the name of "MICHELLE" purposely IGNORED OUR REQUESTS for everything including FREE PUB MIX!! AND NO!!!! Only to cater to the gentleman next to us and personally make him an ash tray, after telling us there was NO SMOKING!!!! SHE THEN ENSUED IN A VERBAL ARGUMENT WITH US AND NEGLECTED US FOR OVER AN HOUR!! -(Her customer service was bottom of the barrell, and I am letting it be known!!! This review is an adjunct to my review of Jan 28, 2025. Despite the rude manager's refusal to give me his or the owner's name, we were able to find out the owners name and how to contact her. We did, and got no response whatsoever, so obviously she does not care. I have no proof of this, but I suspect the manager in question is related to her in some way, hence the lack of response. That is just my own opinion, but as I said I have no proof of that. It's my opinion that this is at least in part the reason he refused to give his name. It's a real shame too, because we have been going to Rainbow Oaks for the past 20+ years and never had this kind of trouble. The woman who now owns it recently purchased it from the former owners and I suspect this is part of the problem. The owner is a real estate person from Hemet. Really too bad. read more

Read lots if reviews about this plsce so decided to give it a try. Clean, friendly. Fresh crisp salad with dinner. Fresh vegetables with steak dinner. My ribeye steak dinner came from the kitchen looking pretty nice. I was really savoring it! The issue with my meal was that I always order a well done steak. Whatever the opinion of the kitchen staff, I am the one ordering, eating and paying for it. The standard for well done is that it should not be bloody on the inside. I had to return my steak two times to the kitcken. The last time it came back, it was as still pink inside but literally charred on the outside. Oh well, so sad. No fault of the wait staff. Did you know that if you do not pass the white test you can not use their restroom???? Oh, yes. My husband who worn an Vietman Vet hat on and has a little suntan was sent across the street to use the gas station restroom because they profiled him as an illegal. The owner supported her employee's action. She said we did not know who he was!!! Well, what a gift she has that everyone who is sitting outside waiting to be seated at their table she knows them. Homeland Security could use her gift. :( We will NEVER go into that restaurant again. Re think you descision about supporting a business like this one. So I've driven past this place 1000 times on the freeway and never think twice about pulling off. Well it has so many good reviews here I decided to go try it. It's such a cute place! Like an old cabin. We got seated within a couple minutes even though it seemed pretty busy (I can see why, it's almost out of place in bustling southern california). I ordered their eggs and bacon, and I swear it was meant for a lumberjack! Tasted so delicious, their home fries were great too, and I'm not easily convinced with breakfast food. And such low prices for the portions, I was really surprised. What more could you want? read more

My son and I were told 2 people ahead of us. We watched more than 2 groups of people being seated. I explained to the female hostess what she had told me about 2 people before us and she got stupid with me and said I doubt that she said that. Than she asked the young man behind the desk if he called for my name and he said yes, we never Heard him and we were standing never by. So the female hostess grab two menus and began to seat us, I tried to see if she would apologize for the mistake and she got really rude with me. What a great experience! This place is hidden. It is difficult to find, but is worth the search. It is associated with camp grounds and a country store. It is popular, so expect a wait. We went there on my Harley. There were lots of Harleys in the lot, lots of pickup trucks, and lots of typical everyday cars. The place attracts people from all walks of life. No wonder, because the food is great, is reasonably priced, and comes with great service. The portions are large. I am glad that I found this place. I recommend that you also do the same. read more

Rainbow Oaks is a gem! Their breakfast is absolutely amazing--I had the steak and eggs with hash browns and a pancake, and it was perfection. The food is not only delicious but also incredibly consistent. The two pictures I took were from different weeks of dining here, and the quality and presentation were spot on each time. Went on a ride from Riverside by myself and decided this was the place to stop for breakfast.. I tell you what... my decision to go here was the best idea. My Chorizo and eggs breakfast with hash browns was nothing short of the best and well worth the 45 minute ride. Server was great and didn't miss a beat with anyone on the patio.. great place, great food, great service and great atmosphere.. The only thing I regret about going to this restraunt, is that I didn't get to take any pictures of the food because it was sooo freaken delicious!!! Amazing owners!!! Clean restraunt!!! I have eaten here with family and friends at least 10 times this year. Nothing disappointed me. Well, the fried chicken was too dark and overcooked, but otherwise we love coming here. I get the eggs with venison sausage and its the juiciest and tastiest that I've ever had. I never eat pancakes except here. Don't even ask about the Wednesday night special, PRIME RIB, to die for. This place is seriously a hidden gem. The service is great, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're back in Texas (so does their chicken fried steak and their thickly sliced tritip).
