How is that possible if I got the same deluxe pedi as him but I got a French tip?!?! Oh it's cause Tina didn't care and wanted to move on to the next person. It is also very obvious I have bruises on my knees but she felt the need to push on my bruise instead of any where else!!! The lady who did my nails was always looking at everyone walking in. She knew I was not happy about something and was staring at me Trying to mouth to my friend instead of focusing on my nails. I noticed this white mark and I asked her what it was and she told me,oh your nail broke" I was like my nail broke?!?! How does that happen??? I walked in with perfectly healthy nails!! - Yes, it is cheap, but they do keep pushing you to add on services. My mom and I went in for a regular pedicure and they tried to push us to get the deluxe. After my mom declined, her technician tried to get me to get her to do it. - From what I observed, did not seem like they sanitized their tools. After my mom finished her pedicure, the "cleaning" of the foot bath consisted of a quick squirt of water after draining. The part that really got me was that after the technicians scrubbed and massaged our feet while wearing latex gloves, I watched as they carefully took the gloves off finger by finger and put them aside so they could re-use them! - My technician ended up talking me into adding a mani to my pedi and did my mani while I was still in the pedi chair. Not only was there not enough room for her to do this (the technician next to her kept bumping her as she was painting my nails), but she kept switching between my hands and my feet. I still don't understand why. My mom said it looked like she didn't know what she was doing. - End result -- not happy. I could have done a better job myself. I feel like she didn't really clean up my cuticles (though I am now glad knowing they don't sanitize their tools), she squirted so much alcohol over my fingers that my skin is white and dry, and the polish is messy and full of bubbles. So the location of this salon is pretty convenient. It's located in the heart of Kaimuki with all the cute shops and restaurants to go to after. They were able to get my friend and I sat right when we got there even though they were busy already. Their selection of nail polishes were awesome! They had almost every color I could think of. The ladies were all very cute, helpful, and did a good job as far as my pedicure looked. There were a few downsides. The standard pedicure is $20 and for that I was happy, but they definitely encourage the deluxe which is $10, then the designs ($5 more per toe), and so on and so forth. You could go out of there having spent much more than anticipated. Also a few of their massage chairs don't even work. Why would I want to sit in a broken chair? After being treated badly so many times, I finally switched to another nail salon. On my last visit, all of my nails were crooked because they lady was going so fast. When I asked the lady about it, she AGREED that they were crooked, just laughed, and said "it's okay." I asked her to fix them, and she said she would. So, she painted my nails, then tried to file them after painting them, while they were still wet. HUH? She realized this wasn't the best idea,, and finally took the nail polish off, and filed them. (As if I have the time for this?) Then, her co-worker asked me to pay. I gave her cash, and would have gotten back $5 in change. When she took the cash, she said, "We keep the change?" Um, no. You don't ask if you get to keep the change, especially after such terrible service. When you are greeted by a bunch of stink eyes, that should signal that you probably won't receive the best service less the best pedicure, but I was desperate. Well me and my friend decided to try it out because everywhere else we wanted to go was busy. It should have been a sign when we went in and they were all kinna just sitting around... They didn't do Japanese nail art so we settled for boogie nights. The second sign that told me I should have gotten out of there were the samples they showed. They were done horribly more just to show the color. But still we continued... I chose a light blue and my friend told her she wanted it to fade from silver to pink. I can continue with my story... Buts quicker to tell you what went horribly wrong... Not all my nails and my friends nails were the same shape or length. The color I chose was not the color she put on me. One tip she put on didn't even cover my whole nail. That same night a nail fell off! And I know how to treat my nails to make them last a while. My friend paid for boogie nights but got basically a French pink and white... No fade. Oh and the best part!? The girl who did my friends nails super glued her finger to my friends finger!? The manicure I got the week before I came home lasted 2 weeks - that's decent! :o) They treated my grams really nice (plus), and her nails looked really good after. . . and were still looking good even when I left. They tolerated my daughter fussing the first time I went - she worked my manicure around my daughter fussing, one hand at a time (who does that?). Next visit, I'll definitely be back. The place is clean - and they're supposedly moving into a new place at the end of the month. They're very nice and thorough. My nails looked good for awhile after - and I always like that. I went in for a gel set. I didn't quite like the fact that they couldn't do any 3D stuff. The way I like people to do gel french-style colored tips is to just apply it directly on the nail without much shaping. Here, they shape it into a perfect curve (the line between the nailbed and the nail tip). All in all, the service was okay but I just don't like the way they do their nail designs. She suggested that the next time I come in, I should try this new thing they have called "gelish." It's not like acrylic or cal gel. The gel is thin, so your nails look natural, and best of all - no lifting! And the polish lasts for over 3 weeks!! No chipping, nothing! Maybe that's the best of all! Another thing that I really like about Rainbow Nails is that I haven't felt "pressured" into getting a design on my toes when I get pedis. If you're like me and you have the biggest fricken big toenail possible, where everyone INSISTS that you MUST get a design because, let's face it, you can, then you'll understand my gripe. EVERY TIME I get a pedi from these salons, the person doing my pedi INSISTS that I get a design because I guess my big toe is like this fricken canvas where they have to display their art....and I'm not that type of person who likes that, but I just let them go and get it over with. This nail place is horrible. I brought my 11 year old daughter and 13 year old niece for a mani pedi, which was $30. The nail techs are sloppy and one extremely rude, also skipping steps on the kids who were not supervised by me since they were seated far away. My toe nails are sloppy and I actually had to ask them to remove the polish from my big toe which had dried with a huge bump on it! The drain was disgusting after they had drained it. From my experience, I got a pedicure done here. It was definitely a $20 pedicure. I dont know if anyone else notices, but there nail polish is OLD. They don't really have a variety of good colors. Their OPI section is only filled with ugly oranges, browns, light pinks, and colors I can't even distinguish. The nice Vietnamese lady did a good job massaging and cleaning my feet. She ignored the bad blister I had recently gotten. I told her I wanted rhinestones to line the bottom of each big toe. These rhinestones were like the ugliest fakest version of Swarvoski rhinestones I had ever seen... I would go here to clean and polish your toe nails but I wouldn't go here for nail art. read more

So I've had a bad experience before but since my roomie choose this place I thought I'd give it another try. Well everything seemed to start off okay until "Paula" actually started doing the full set I asked for. She asked how long or short I wanted them and I said not to short. She then asked for my approval every time she cut the nail. She asked what shape I wanted I ask for the almond shape. She didn't know what that meant so she asked another nail tech. She then clipped of the side of the nail to make it kid of pointed. She caught my skin multiple times with the clippers. She then started doing the acrylic. Rainbow nails is right off of Kokohead in Kaimuki. They are located next to a metered parking lot, they are clean, fast, and have very reasonable prices! I've been there a couple of times just for pedicures, and I've been pleased with their service. However, the last time I went, I also got fake nails with gel, alongside my pedicure since I was going to Georgia for two weeks to visit family, and wouldn't have to massage anyone. ;) They sat me down to do my pedicure and to my surprise, another lady came over to do my hands at the same time. I'm totally down with efficiency, especially with a 2 hour time limit on the meters, so that was fine with me. Well, the ladies were nice enough, but I just felt like my nails were done so fast, it was a little sloppy. My middle nail on my right hand ended up being a little crooked, so I fixed it myself at home with a file. She also nicked my finger when she was shaving the gel down to make it smooth, and didn't say sorry just kept right along. Ouch! When I came back, I needed another pedicure and to take off the nails. Again, pedicure was fantastic, but the lady who was taking off my nails was very rough because she was going so fast! First of all, I think ALL of my nails should've been soaked before taken off because they were still on there pretty good. But she used a technique of taking another fake nail and just popped off the nails on my fingers. Now that was okay for some of the looser ones, but the tighter ones were sore! She also ended up ripping my real nail on a finger and, again no apology! At that point I was no longer relaxed, but watching her like a hawk. I actually had to to tell her when it was down to two nails that were not coming off to stop and soak them, because she was hurting me. Not cool.She tried making it up to me with a good shoulder massage with my manicure which I appreciated, but yikes- definitely scared me into not coming back here for fake nails or removal! Sure, it is not a high-end spa by any means, but it's cheap, quick and easy. There are plenty of chairs and technicians so you almost never have to wait for more than a few minutes, which is nice if you are trying to sneak in a quick lunch break pick-me-up! The base mani-pedi combo is $29 and there are plenty of add-ons for $5 or so. I usually go for the mani-pedi combo with added callus remover, paraffin and some kind of cute toe design. I've also had the cal-gel manicure and the 3D toe designs, which were both cool too. I went here for a brow wax. I waited for about 5 minutes and then was shown to the waxing room. Clean and comfortable. The waxing lady was a little hard to understand due to language barrier, but she was quick and did a decent job. I thought the outer ends of my brows were waxed too thin, but it ended up growing in nicely. 3 stars instead of 5 because of the incessant up-selling (and because it wasn't a stellar salon with cabana boys and all the extras). I got a mani/pedi on Sunday by Phoebe. She was very sweet and did a beautiful job on my nails. I like getting flowers painted on my big toes - it's very pretty and since we're always in slippers (flipflops) here on the island, it really does make a difference when people are always looking at your feet. The salon is a little on the crowded side, but they get you in relatively fast and the service was very good. My mani/pedi with special foot gel for my callouses - ( i workout 6 days a week and have some serious callouses) only ran me about $48 dollars with tax and gratuity. I feel this is a very fair price for the amount of time, work and attention that I received. I've read about other places around the island that are more expensive and the service is not as good. I feel lucky that I found Rainbow Nails right in my own neighborhood. My husband loves the flowers on my toes, and he is not one to really notice that sort of thing. I tried something new and went to Smiley Nails, which was a big mistake. It gave me a new found appreciation for Rainbow Nails, for which from now on I pledge my undying loyalty. True, it's not fancy. But they'll give you what you need without charging and arm and a leg. I've had a lot of different nail techs who all do a great job, although some are a little friendlier than others (and more importantly, have better pressure than others when massaging). I once messed up the polish on my big toe a day or two after getting my nails done, and when I went back the girls were so nice, trying to figure out the exact pink I already had on. Anna try to make more money by put my daughter feet in hot wax and drew some lines on her tiny toes and charge $10 for the design, my daughter can do that at home. I thought kids would get free simple design like that. Anna doesn't speak or understand english well, she kept ask us to go for deluxe, extra massage, cut finger nails, buff shine, flowers... and so on, she doesn't get when we say "No" and go ahead with the service anyway. Do not come here. You will leave dissatisfied and you will have wasted your money. You can find a much better nail salon around the island. There are tons. Don't come here. I wanted to get a deluxe mani and pedi but both with gelish nails. Was sat at the pedi chairs at about 1:37 and she got started on the typical nail trim and scrubbing the soles for dead skin. There was no cuticle care. All that took about 10 minutes. From 1:45 to 2:45 she ATTEMPTED to paint my nails red. I say attempted b/c she literally redid BOTH big toes 7 times... she kept putting the UV machine on my toes and messing the paint up. I told her, "oh, that's too much the light is touching my nail" and she said "okay" and didn't do anything. I figured she'd realize and redo it. And redo it, she did. 7 times!!! On both big toes. I almost wanted to stand up and say never mind I'm going somewhere else. Somewhere where the technicians actually know what they're doing. At 3 o'clock another technician came and wanted to start my mani. I told them nope! Leaving as soon as she's done figuring out how to paint my big toes. My toes aren't weird or anything, just normal toes, normal sized nails. On the smaller side if anything. After 1 hour and 30 minutes she started the rest of the pedicure: the paraffin wax, hot towel, and massage. The wax was on for like 7 minutes, I'm used to it being on during the scrub and massage, so it's on for like at least 15 Minutes. Nope very short. The massage lasted less than 5 minutes for my two legs. The hot towel was a room temperature towel used to only wipe off the wax. Not what other places typically do. Overall it seemed like the technician didn't know what she was doing and she gave the worst pedicure ever. Charged me full price for a deluxe pedi. Even if she screwed up the nails, I would be okay with paying the full price if she gave a good massage and was good with the rest of the services that make the deluxe a deluxe. But that was mediocre as well. Definitely definitely not worth the price at all. And upon leaving I looked my toes and saw that one of my big toes were not the same shade as the other. It was unevenly colored, needed another coat. Needless to say I will never ever ever go here again. Literally the worst! read more
