The nail tech tried to upswell me on a higher package and I kindly replied no. She then suggested that I do something else and I asked if it was an extra charge. After I asked she leaned over and mumbled something to her coworker. After that she was rough in my feet, dropped my foot, and had a bad attitude. I ended the pedicure, paid and walked out half way through. I will NEVER go back. I know her name isn't Tina but that's what her name tag said today. It's too bad because I was going to go back this weekend with a girlfriend to put a full set of nails on. So I called and asked for the manager. I told her what happened and she didn't care. If I could give negative stars I would! I actually signed up on Yelp just to write a negative review on this place. I walked in yesterday afternoon and tried to get a mani and pedi. The woman working there was so rude towards me, one of the other customer even shook her head at her. This woman working there acted like I was bothering her--she never answered my questions, impatient, overall acted very disrespectful! I came here to spend my money, and was not expecting to be treated this way! Btw, I did not dress poorly, and I asked for the most expensive combo. This place obviously has no idea on what is "service." I asked her if she is ok and she just turned and walked away. Wtf!? So I walked out. The other women working there saw this whole thing and no one even said a sorry. They told me to stay and someone else will help me, but too late. I went to another place around the corner and will never come here. Btw, I saw cockroaches in the corner as I was walking out. Gross. I will be telling people this on all of my social media, because no one deserves to be treated this way for no reason. Its a dirty nail salon and I got a (rushed) "deluxe pedicure" which was basically a regular pedicure with a parafin wax. She said it included callus removal. But I didn't get any more callus removal than i normally do with a regular pedicure. I only stopped here because my regular place was booked and traffic was bad. I won't be coming here again. That was a waste of $35. I get pedicures every other week and this is by far the worst I've ever gotten. It looks like I did it myself. read more

This review is based on my only experience here, and I definitely will not be coming back. The salon wasn't my first choice, but the salon that I usually go to was already closed, so I decided to go here thinking that it wouldn't be that bad. I got a mani-pedi that was done by two different women. "Lisa" did my pedicure and she actually did a pretty good job and took her time. I usually don't put people on blast, but I got so upset from the quality of service for my manicure that was done by "Phi Phi." Her workmanship was like she could care less about how your nails looked. When she was cleaning my cuticles she didn't push them back at all and used the lightest pressure ever. She was too impatient to wait for the paraffin wax to cool enough so that it wouldn't burn my hands and when I kept telling her that it was too hot she didn't care and said it was ok, then put it over my hands anyway! OMG was it painful! The part that angered me the most was the polish job that she did. I suck at painting nails and it came out looking like I had done them myself using my left hand with one eye closed and the other squinted while balancing on one foot, seriously. It was extremely horrible. She pretty much only painted the top of my nails that looked clumpy and the sides were all bubbly. There was also polish all over my cuticle. I kept asking her to fix it, but she seemed like she didn't even know what was wrong when she looked at them. This was the last straw, she was so restless to go home and not considerate that she asked me if she could reach into my purse to "help me" get money to pay her. Mind you, I was trying to be nice and sincere the whole time and I did tip, which I shouldn't have. The cost of the mani-pedi was $45. My result wasn't even close to being worth what I paid. I'll stick with paying more for my nails where I know I will get quality customer service and pride in work... I just wanted to warn you guys. If anything, do not let Phi Phi do your nails my fellow Yelp-ers! read more

I've gone to Rainbow Nails, on and off, for several years. I always get a pedicure from the first available person, so I don't have a regular tech. In general, the pedicures have been ok, which is why this review gets two stars instead of one. The reason I feel compelled to write this and to warn potential customers is that one of the nail techs is just an angry, nasty person who should be avoided at all costs. On my last visit, everything was ok until she tried to clip one of my nails too close and I yelped, because she cut into my skin. She then became very defensive, explaining that "my nail was crooked" and so that it was not her fault that she cut me trying to "straighten it out." (!) I thought that that was a stupid comment - she could clearly see when the nail bed is and where not to trim - but while I certainly didn't agree with her, I also didn't want to argue with her, so I just shrugged. As she proceeded, she became visibly more angry about this (about HER cutting ME), and blurted out again that it was "not her fault" for cutting me. Again, I thought it was entirely her fault, but my feet were being held hostage, so instead of arguing with her, I just shrugged again. When it came time to use the tool to clean under the nails, she was so angry with me that after she cleaned under my nails, she wiped the tool on the back of my foot! Shocked, I looked at her and she glared at me and then deliberately did it again, looking up to my face every time she did it. Ugh, WHAT A DISGUSTING WOMAN! I could tell that she was doing it to punish me for not agreeing with her that it was not her fault that she cut me. I will never, ever go back there again. The decent pedis I have received in the past were totally overshadowed by this hostile, gross, NASTY woman. Fortunately for me, there are a variety of other nail spas within just a couple of blocks of Rainbow Nails, all charging the same price, and so I easily found a highly-rated nail salon in the same area on Yelp and have been happily going there ever since. Wow. This place is comically bad. My friend and I could not stop looking at each other and laughing because we could not believe the level of bad customer service we were receiving. As soon as we sit down, a roach the size of wild boar comes walking confidently out right underneath our feet. It was like it was his daily routine and he knew there was no chance of anyone caring enough to squash him. Our nail technicians clearly saw us looking at this beast, but did not react at all. Gross. But hey, we live in Hawaii and roaches are as common as sticky rice so we continued on. The chairs and tubs did not seem to be clean, there was still remains from the unfortunate souls before us. They didn't bring us a color selection until after they started working on our hands, which were covered in foil at that point. It was like watching a cat try to get tape off its paw, hilarious for everyone else. I inevitability dropped the sample sticks in the water below and, no she doesn't, YES SHE DOES put the soaking wet mess back on my lap. My friend had to grab it and dry it off for me. Then, while I'm talking to my friend, she nicks me pretty good on my cuticle. It was enough to make me bleed and she had to apply syptic powder to get it to stop. Ouch. She offered no apology and she kept jabbing me in the same spot trying to clean up the mess. OUCH. When the UV light hit, I definitely felt a sizzle where my fingers were a bit raw. When she was all done, I literally had to ask for her to clean up the powder she left on my fingers. There was also still polish on my fingertips, so I asked her to neaten that up as well. She is clearly annoyed with me, so instead of gently cleaning my already tender tips, she starts CUTTING out the pieces of polish with cuticle trimmers! My fingertips are so raw and cracked right now, not to mention the finger that she cut is swollen and painful. I look over to show my friend how nice my unintentional "texas chainsaw massacre" theme came out and whisper to her that were never coming back here. Her manicurist literally answers her cell phone mid paint job. Her conversation started running long, so she straight up uses her shoulder as a hands free device and finishes the manicure. I definitely took pictures. She was apparently as ready for us to leave as we were, so she didn't even bother to completely dry the gel on her nails. I do have to hand it to them for their consistency though, because they made sure to end our appointment just as badly as it had begun. They charged us for a delux gel manacure and pedicure even though we only received a regular pedicure and gel manicure. When all we said and done, this whole nightmare cost almost $60. Unless you want a great story to tell your friends, avoid this place!!! read more

The acetone basically disintegrates the gelish, so that it scrapes off into a little pile of flakes. Centrally located, the Rainbow nail salon is large in size. Though the interior is dated, they always have multiple technicians available to help. My mom is a regular here, so when my boyfriend and I come we always schedule appointments with Paula and Donna, they're both very sweet. I've gone to this place a long time ago, just once. My former boss introduced me to the owner when we stopped in for a business lunch in the area. The service was very unprofessional, salon very small, and not as sanitary as it should be. I got on "injury" the first time I had a pedicure. When I set my foot back in the water, it stung so bad. Getting a cut on the bottom of my heel made it difficult to walk. I did not tip the technician, the owner did not charge. I've never gone back and never will go back. read more

It all started with the phone call, i specifically asked if they have an technician there who can do difficult designs. There response was "Yes they all can do designs" So i made my appointment. We were seated immediately upon arriving and the staff just looked at me, no smile no hello. It was extremely empty for a rather large nail salon. Wonder why? As I sat down on my pedicure chair, my technician stuffed food in her mouth and put her unwashed hands into my pedicure water. My pedicure lasted all of 15-20min and that was with a deluxe upgrade and manicure about 15 min. As far as my design, i had to choose a very simple one because all of a sudden no one there could do the designs i was interested in. No even a simple line could come out straight. I am a Rainbow Nails fan! I have actually been going here for the past six years or more. I remember when they were HALF the size they are now! I never thought to review it or check in all this time because for me, going to get a pedicure and/or manicure is a time to "get away from it all." I have been to many a nail place - from the cheaper ones to the high end ones ... in the end, I've realized that you need to trust and get to know the PEOPLE - because nothing else matters in the service industry! This place can get busy - I've called ahead to ask about if they had a chair open and have always been told the truth - once they said we are all full right now, but if you come in about 30 minutes, we will have a chair for you. They didn't take my name or anything - but when I arrived, and looked around - because it was sooooo busy, they said we are finishing up, I mentioned that I called and immediately - one of the workers came out of the back room and said, "oh, I am ready for you," come .. and took me to one of two empty chairs. I was impressed - and have been going back there ever since. On my last two visits, I noticed that I am drawn to the BIG SCREEN TVs that have been on the food network channel. I don't even watch that - but like I mentioned before, I go to "get away" and what a better way to forget everything I know, than to watch foodie stuff and get my feet done? My four out of five stars is for parking. Municipal lots are close by - limited street parking - I wish I didn't have to maneuver this part! read more

Bummer. I really love getting pedis, and I used to come here a lot in college. The service isn't that great anymore. I got the deluxe pedi and it was $30. The tech I had barely massaged my legs & feet and consistently talked/giggled with the woman working next to her. She barely made conversation with me. Took my little girl there for her first Mani. Her nail tech was super sweet to her. She helped her pick her color & which design she wanted (snowman & flower) It was empty because of the time of day. They let my daughter sit in a pedicure chair next to me while I got my pedi from Tiffany, which I really enjoyed. It's very clean & bright. This is my go-to place for quick pedicures. I've never had bad service and it's very affordable. The polish usually stays on me for at least 4 weeks. Only negatives are it's not a relaxing atmosphere (lots of fluorescent lighting) and it's always sticky hot. read more

Came here a few times because it's in my neighborhood and even though I've have better manis and pedis, was content to make it my regular spot. Unfortunately today while having my tips removed, the very nice manicurist pulled and snipped my nail out of the nail bed until it bled. It was very painful. She felt awful, kept apologizing and told the owner what happened and gave me a very nice laquer mani. The owner, however, proceeded to charge me full price and seemed irritated that the nail tech spent extra time on my nails, making her close shop a few minutes late. I went to diamond nails twice. The first time I felt like they were nice and did a decent job and the second time was a bummer. They didn't paint the side of my nails and I told the other lady that did my toes that my nails looked unfinished. She told the other girl to come back and looked when she did she looked bothered and told me it was my fault for hitting my nails in the gel dryer. I told her that it's not messed up it's just not painted and she insisted it was me. After 3 coats of gel color and 2 clear coats my nails looked like a thick mess with round ends from all the product. I needed my nails done for a gig FAST! They were able to take off my gel mani, do a basic pedi and a gel mani in an hour, just as I asked. They even remembered I was in a rush and sprayed my toes so I could jet...with minimal smudging, but then again, I didn't bring slippers, so my bad! They are friendly, their chairs have all sorts of good stuff, I especially like the seat massagers, lol! I also learned how to make spanish rice on the cooking channel while I sat! I wanted to get my nails done on my lunch break today which I normally go to Blissful nails but they were busy so I thought I would try rainbow nails because I work in the area. I called a couple hours ahead and asked if they had time for a regular polish manicure at noon which they said they did and see me then. I came 5 minutes early, they didn't have my appointment on the books but told me they still had time and to pick a color. Now I work in the industry and this isn't my first rodeo so I totally understand being with another client and I am a patient person so I picked a polish and politely waited.. 20 minutes goes by (I wasn't the only client waiting there was me and another woman who came in at the same time, we both had noon appointments) I simply got up and left because I only had so much time. So if you got time to wait around but the customer service is terrible, nail polish is old and to be honest it isn't clean either. Go to blissful! read more

I've been to Rainbow Nails several times over the past few years, most recently I was there on Thursday May 9th. My previous experiences at Rainbow Nails have been inconsistent, usually not great. I called on Thursday to schedule an appointment for 4 pedicures at 630 PM. "Sure, no problem we will see you then!" I got there first, there was no receptionist or available person to assist me. A woman doing nails looked up at me, said what are you here for and told me to go pick a color. From there I picked my color and waited about 20 minutes. Finally around 7PM they started the water and sat us down to soak... for another 15 minutes. One lady became available to start my pedicure. Unfortunately the massage feature of my chair was busted. My friend was started 5-10 min after I. The pedicure itself was okay. My friends and I received a deluxe pedicures. One of my friends asked to have an extra 10 minutes of foot massage. The strange thing is she was started after me, asked for extra massage and was finished before me. Something isn't right there. My friend receiving the extra massage was in so much pain! She showed the nail technician prior to her pedi a large healing cut on the top of her foot. This nail tech kept rubbing the cut with the sea salt scrub... halfway through her pedi the scabs on the cut were completely removed and her foot was bleeding. We had a really uncomfortable experience here. There's more but I really don't want to rant. I usually go to Top Nails just up the street on Harding. The service is better and so is the deluxe pedicure is better. read more

Not worth it to get a facial here. i use to go a lot, but after awhile it seemed like they were going cheap on the facials. Less products were being used and the process changed a lot. The facialist continued to walk in and out literally slapping things on my face then digging out. When i first started coming here the facialist would gently massage products into my face and also massage my scalp, shoulders, and arms with other products while detoxing my face with products. Not the case anymore... definitely will not be returning. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere for a quality facial. read more

Rainbow Nails has a new location (although it is still in the same shopping area), it has new massage chairs with the cute gold basin for foot soaking, it now has a private room for waxing, it has new flat screens that always seem to be playing romantic comedies (better known as chick flicks) and it is just altogether a much better nail salon because of these improvements. Pedicures cost around $20, but I usually pay around $35 for my pedicures which include a french tip design as well as rhinestones or a flower design. Although I've never had any post-pedicure infections (knock on wood!), I have had some really good experiences here as well as some really bad ones. Unfortunately, the quality of service varies from one nail technician to another, but in general the staff at Rainbow Nails are more skilled than nail technicians at Macy's Salon. read more

Since this is in my neighborhood, I don't want to talk too bad about them but they don't know how to treat a customer. I went to get mani and pedi done and they, without asking, upgraded me to a special menu and of course I had to pay for it even though I just wanted the basic combo!!! This "special menu" included a gel scrub up to my knees and the cheap gel gave me burns and dry skin afterwards. The story does not end here. I asked them if they can do pink and white stripes for my fingers and she didn't understand what stripes were and started to literally mess it up. The nailist even admitted on messing up and asked me to come back next morning because the store was closing in 5 min!!! Stupid me paid for it and went back the next morning at like 7:30am!!!
