I ordered fried catfish and it turned out to be some frozen fish they purchased frozen and then changed me $16.99 for frozen catfish that I could have purchased from a grocery store. Next I ordered calamari which was also frozen and just fried. I also ordered garlic toast and that was bad because it was dry and store brought. My girlfriend ordered the boil and said it was good after she doctored up the garlic sauce it was sitting in. We chose this restaurant because it had 4 1/2 stars and I have never been so disappointed in a meal as this one. When I asked the waitress was this fish frozen she said yes and kept apologizing to me it was too late at that point she should have told me before I ordered so I left her a note to let her know why her tip was low. read more

We experienced great customer service. The gentleman that took our order was very helpful at answering the questions we had and explaining the menu. It was very busy and the staff was helping all the tables and attending to their needs. While we waited for the food the gentleman that took our order never stopped smiling. The service from the manager herself was horrible. The restaurant was half empty and we had more people coming to join. There was a bigger table next to us that was available and she did not want to accommodate. She said they will wait 10 minutes ( mind you there was empty tables everywhere. I told her that we can order and get the bigger table so they did not have to wait. What sense does it make for the rest of the party to wait 10 min while we are already sitting and there is plenty of seating available. She said she just is not having it. Worse attitude. I heard about this place from some friends so decided to try it out. We ordered just one bag of shrimp- head on, with garlic butter and the ragin special flavors. Yummmmy for sure!!! This place will get your "Boiling Crab" fix, but it is definitely not the same. This place is very clean and has the typical decor you'd expect from a seafood house. Every time we go here, it's not busy. Usually 0-2 other parties dining there. A little questionable, but I don't like crowds anyway. Staff are friendly and very attentive. She's always quick to refill drinks. Food comes out quickly. Food is decent, but the shrimp seems overcooked or not fresh, maybe from frozen. Usually, 75% of the shell is very hard to peel off. My wife and I make BBQ Cajun shrimp all the time at home but cannot seem to replace the flavor of their Special Ragin Hot sauce!!! If you love HOT umami you must try!! Assuming this is a Chinese owned restaurant by exotic flavor (and inside decorations) I have experimented adding everything from classic Asian Garlic/chili oils to the more exotic XO sauces from HK but I still haven't been able to replace that certain flavor that is added to their HOT Cajun Mix sauce. It's deliciously addicting. Anyways, even if I do one day recreate their super tasty sauce know that I will continue to support, order take out, and always highly recommend it to anyone that mentions Cajun seafood or the fact that they like spicy food. I've gone to several of these seafood boil restaurants and this was my first time trying one in the 805. We ordered fried catfish, a lot of Cajun fries, the Cajun wings a pound of peeled and deveined shrimp, corn and sausage. In comparison to whole/intact shrimp , they weren't steeped in the flavors and bursting. Yes, less work but also less reward. I liked the ease of dining without making a colossal mess but flavor is paramount. The fries were very delicious but the corn was unfortunate and tasted as if it were an afterthought and simply tossed in the bag, seconds before being delivered to our table. So at first I didn't know what to expect, however, after a bit of convincing I came here and boy am I glad. This place is fantastic! They have some amazing Cajun spices that they can add to any boil. Opted to go w the crab legs boil and the two spices were Cajun hot and lemon pepper, both were amazing, just be aware the Cajun is very hot but soooo good. Also went with a six pack of oysters and some beignets and they were even more amazing with some powdered sugar and chocolate. I'll tell you right now that I'll be going back to the place and the prices are super fare AND the food is very fresh. This new little gem is going to be a go to spot for me and just the thought of it is making me wanting to go. Spending the day at Ventura beach was my excuse to get this place. So many 5 star reviews, I needed to try myself. Well I had a different experience. First let me say the place itself is very clean and decorated nice, not over the top. The service was fast and our server was nice and attentive. The food however lacked something. Ordered the Cajon fried shrimp, clam chowder, Lobster po'boy, shrimp po'boy and the crawfish po'boy. So of all that the cajon fried shrimp was the item that was tasty, messy but delicious. The clam chowder just didnt have enough character to it, it seemed straight from a can. If it wasnt I couldnt tell. Now for all the po'boys they all looked amazing but they lacked flavor. The breading on the outside of the crawfish and shrimp had no flavor. The lobster had same problem, there was no breading it was served cold but it also had no flavor. It wasnt that they tasted bad they just didnt have taste. I'm somebody that if I want to have a sandwich the meat needs to have some flavor, just some to help balance it. The bread was perfectly toasted there was a sauce on the bread and veggies but honestly the sauce just didn't make the sandwich pop, the sandwich was depending on this sauce for flavor and it didnt deliver. Friday Night at it only took 5 minutes to get a table. I sit down with my Daughters for an amazing Shrimp dinner where we ordered the Combo Special getting mild spice with Garlic Butter flavor. They were slammed and I figured we would have to wait forever but they fast with the drinks, quick with the apps and our main bag came out with incredible speed. We have divulged our cravings by driving the hour to our nearest Boiling Crab but the drive has never been worth the wait or taste. To find out we had a seafood super power here right in Oxnard was a great find. The bag arrived piping hot and as soon as the seal of the bag opened the gust of southern steam pierced our nostrils with such delight. As my Daughters eyes opened with starvation in unison I noticed they were both gloved up and ready for war. Without asking they dove head first into the bag and began to make a mound of Shrimp skeletons on the table. There is a little secret to the madness at this location and it starts with the small cup of pepper and salt. With the lemons they supply squeeze four into the cup and when your bag arrives pour some of the bag juice into your cup. Now you've got what we call Cajun Heaven Sauce!!! This mixture of sweet, heat and treat will break dance your tastebuds for the entire meal. Our method to the madness is to peel the shrimp and crush that luscious ocean meat into our Cajun Heaven Sauce so it soaks up all the elements. With that being said you have to think about a side order of rice. With the mess they call a meal you will notice random juices and flavors spilled all over your table. Take your provided cup of rice and flip it rice down and run from edge to edge soaking up all those lost flavors to create your very own Dirty Rice... not to be confused with Oxnard's very own Reggae band Dirty Rice who's album is available on iTunes but a Rice Dirty of amazing flavors.
