We were so excited to finally have high speed internet in Chicago Park, CA and all was great for a whole 6 days. Now, we are offline with no ETA for getting back on. Race sent a tech out today. He diagnosed the problem and blamed the installation crew. Didn't fix a thing, said we had to wait for the installation crew to come back and fix the line. Very disappointed. read more

Race communications sent all neighbors yesterday a text stating they are working on the lines. I never received a text, Yesterday TV service went crazy changing the channels and recording different TV programs. Call in last night and they fix which was awesome! This morning get up to watch the news and the TV is no longer in service. call again at 8 AM the tech could not fix the problem so they transferred to level 2 tech was told I was the next caller, then a recording came back on and said they would call me back, 2 o'clock called back again left a message, 3 o'clock called back wanted to speak to a manager the manager would not come on to the phone, again transferred to level 2 tech again left a message. Race has the worst customer service, it would be nice if our town had Spectrum as they have awesome customer service and take care of their clients. read more

The actual service is great and the price is good. My main complaint is the impossible task to communicate with them! There is no way to send an email and receive a timely response. To call on the phone will put you on hold that will take as long as Mt. Everest to melt and the waiting time for service to come out to your home will stretch into months. This seems to be a trend with all online services these days, or anything tech related including phone service. I feel like customer support has gone out the window with all corporations. Just an update to my last scathing review for this company- service has been restored for a few days now and to be fair, it is superior to every other service in the area when it is working. Happy if it stays mostly consistent with very occasional outages(to be expected). Real updates and transperency go a long way with customers so they can at least plan around the inconvenience instead of anticipating it. read more

I've been using RACE internet in Pinon Hills, CA for 9+ months. From the initial order and installation, they've been great. They provide timely notifications of repairs and maintenance. The service has been very reliable and is not slow. Great value compared to my last provider! read more

I have had Race for 2 months. Started poorly and keeps getting worse. Tonight my bedroom tv would not work. Called in for tech support for an hour and 15ins. They allowed me to hold on though after my long wait they said I would have to leave a message, which they never call back. Itsnowbeen 3 hrs with nocall back. I checked my email yesterday. Race said I did not pay my first months payment. Which was $209.00. I was told it would be $156.00. A T and T not lookingso bad! I sent an email back tell Race, I paid the payment on 7/7/22. Asked that they get there s _ i t together. Today I recieved email from Race.... we recieved your payment. The new billing problem will be how did after two weeks the bill changed to $179????. I spoke with a Kobe and he got my order placed and I even spoke with a Tobias even upgraded me to the best phone service I have ever used. We were considering this company as a possible competition to another, perhaps getting a better deal. Online reviews told us otherwise. However, we still considered until we saw what we believed were employees by friends' places as well as elsewhere. They shared their concerns. Therefore, we contacted the company to ascertain their behavior and drug policy. Approximately 3 months later and a share, we were emailed, but yet to get a copy of their behavior and drug policy (PDF would do.). **As such, until we see an official transcript, along with what we deem customer thoughtful behaviors, and reviews to support, we'll remain with our current company. **I would suggest consumers do their homework. Talk to others who've been with the company, read reviews, perhaps the bbb and google maps, and share any concerns. Companies respond best to consumer concerns and decisions. read more

Absolutely the best. I have been waiting, literally years, for internet that works in our rural area. Race came through and now I have the best service. Never down, no lagging. We've had this internet provider for a couple years now and they're the best we've ever had. Their service is wonderful and fast. Other internet providers I've had in the past take forever and have terrible reception. Their internet has NEVER given us any problems and is super fast. Such a bummer that customer service is so poor and response times are so slow when internet service is interrupted. Last year my service was out for 35 days. I obviously didn't pay the bill for the month I had no service at all, and they tried to charge me late fees for that month after waiving the bill. Fast forward to now, my internet has been out a week. The issue has not even been assessed yet, and race isn't working on a solution. They blame other companies-PG&E, and even law enforcement, saying that they refuse to let them through to work on their equipment. I've talked to employees from PG&E and my local sheriff's office, both of whom said that's not the case and they're not stopping any service providers from repairing equipment. I pay $122 a month for service, and that's way too much to have outages like this. Unfortunately, I am now looking for a new provider-and will likely be going with starlink. read more

Between the power company, water company, car insurance and the other monthly bills we pay, Race is the only one that did not offer any type of break to their customers during the Covid - 19 pandemic. No nicely worded letter of understanding, no commitment to keep service going in the face of financial tough times. No reassurance that services will not be interrupted or disconnected for non payment. No discounts offered. I guess they figured that people have to have their internet/TV, so customers will pay up. For the amount of money they receive from their customers, they probably weren't comfortable going out on a financial limb. read more

Just installed Fiber Optic line in new home. Race was on top of it...showed up on time, genuine and knowledgeable techs and QC rep came out to follow-up on install. Went through the entire physical install and set-up with me( I can be annoying some people asking to watch and learn). After the install tech and QC rep left, I Had an issue with incompatibility on the router and spent 2 hours on phone( yes phone, an actual human being) with a "Level-2" tech, whatever that means, after a level -1 tech couldn't solve it. Uhhhhhm...hate to say it, operator error caused the problem...enough said. My bad.:/ My cyber-UNsaavy self caused not only myself time, but swollen lease too. Lol. So far, so good with 517.7 mbps in every room in the house...stupid speed. I'll keep an updated review after a year...maybe.:) read more

We've had great experiences with Race. There haven't been any issues with streaming or internet disconnecting. When I call they're very attentive and resolve my issues quickly. After many years of slow internet speeds and very low data caps, we're delighted to have Race's high speeds and unlimited data. It opened up a whole new world for us--not having to go to some other free wifi spot to do device updates, being able to stream movies without frequent buffering, and not having to worry about exceeding the low data caps. have had Race for internet and phone service for 2 years and have never had a problem. They were quick and responsive to set-up service when I moved in. Last year i needed them to come out and move the wifi modem which required some rewiring, and they came out and finished the work within a couple of weeks. We run a few computers, 2 phones, a printer and a TV on the wifi. Good value for the speed. The price is better and the internet speed is better than when I lived in LA with AT&T. I have never had a problem having calls returned. Customer service has always been great. read more

We've been without service for 25 days and the company has no idea when service will be restored. They blame PG&E for the issue, but that's a lie. Keep whatever internet service you currently have because Race is not reliable. They received a grant to install fiber in the area but just took the money and ran. This company has zero customer support. Waited over a month for installation, even though local office in our small neighborhood of Tehachapi. Informed service ( Internet, tv & phone) would be down yesterday for 4 hours. They were turning on service for new neighbor. They left at5:00 pm and we have had no service. They do not answer their phones or e- mails.If you call at exactly 8:00 am, you will be put in a waiting que of 60-180 minutes. Finally spoke with technician ( Christian) who was doing install. Tried to argue his work did shut down my service, but it should have come back on. Advised him that I have a Special Needs daughter who was suppose to take finals today via Zoom, not to mention election results. My expectation was that he come out 10 minute drive) and make it a priority. Said he couldn't promise. Liked the service, but no Customerservice at all. Upper management in the City needs to address who they contract out their services too. If I could give them no stars, I would. Not worth the headaches for the high price... read more

Over two months of no internet or phone! Race can't even send the correct crew to fix my line yet each crew tells the company what needs fixing. This is an embarrassing response especially given Race received a federal grant for 60% of construction costs in this area. Call support and because of "Covid" of course expect at least a one hour wait. The best is trying to find a corporate head to speak with. I've had Race for several months and have been happy with them, but my comparison was a "hot spot" I was using, living in a rural area. My area just suffered a major storm that did in fact knock out services in the area but that was over 3 weeks ago. I was just told by customer service, in an email, "Service will be restored when it is." They also said, "Our department has no direct communication with the technicians." If that is true, how will they ever be able to tell customers when restoration will be finished? If Race is actually interested in keeping customers they are going to need to call around inside their own company and get information to share with paying customers. How can customer service not know what is actually happening in the field? I didn't ask them to start calling around to their techs, I thought they would have some internal information tree. read more

Never in my business dealing have I ever encountered such purposeful disregard for the customer. They have a monopoly granted by each city, The installation costs and wait times are beyond reasonable. They do not show up when scheduled. Their phone wait times for information or service can be as much as an hour or two. The billing is not honest as first described. Service outages are very common. It may be time for a citizens class action suit against this company and the cities that do not monitor the providers of such a critical service. Pros- good internet service in remote areas Cons- challenging customer service. lengthy wait for connections, significant work to coordinate hook up. Charged for equipment upon return that they reported was broken though it was operating fine until the moment it was simply unplugged and placed in a box. Customer service reasonable but unwilling to mitigate the charge in unclear circumstances as above. They were reasonable enough on the phone and I ultimately paid in full, though over 400$ seemed excessive. Would simply suggest one documents what you send and do with them extensively. read more

We just signed on with race. They hooked us up and our speeds are amazing! We were with another internet who would complain if we went over the cap then charged us double and still complained and our work is online and they knew it, I think they enjoyed controlling people. Anyway when Race came to our area, it was an answer to prayer. We told them about this particular company, how much we use and their response was, "Is that it?" Race needs to have a project management tool for their installation team, for scheduling, and that is shared between them and their subcontractors. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. The installers are great, but the office staff and subs are not communicating. If you sign up (and I signed up for TV, internet and phone) make sure you keep good notes and stay on top of the order. You could languish for months, even if you contact them on a regular basis. The internet service is very fast and less expensive than other local providers, but the TV interface is clunky and takes a while to figure out. They have bugs and need to fix a lot of them. Their explanation is that they are new. Our retort is, get some programmers and pay them well, it's not rocket science - your service could sell itself. read more

After four years without an interruption in service or equipment failure I had a number of issues starting last week. First I called because the most used buttons on my remote were no longer working, Race sent a replacement the next day at no charge. My internet became intermittent on Monday, that same day a technician was dispatched and the router replaced with an updated model. The technician was personable and professional. Finally my DVR would no longer let me watch a different program than the one I was recording. It took two different technicians working remotely on the phone to reprogram the DVR so that it now worked properly. They both were patient and professional and I was impressed when the first technician admitted he was not happy with the results he was getting and called in reinforcements. I now look forward to four more years of fast internet and excellent TV even though I live in a rural area. I received outstanding customer service from Race Communications both on the phone and in person and can recommend them without reservation. read more

After our move to our new home, getting internet service was one of our first priorities. Getting things scheduled and set up with a representative went very smooth. Our service installment came with a hefty wait, but once we were up and running with Race we have had nothing but quick and reliable internet. We've needed maintenance once, and things went very prompt and everything was handled within a reasonable time. After living in the desert for over 20 years to say that we were excited to get Race would be an understatement! We were some of the first group to get it and I have to say from the very beginning they were more than helpful in explaining things, setting up and keeping us informed.
